As the title said Downpour is not going to have the unfortunately overused punisher of sins and I for one couldn't be happier! I do feel that pyramid head is something that needs to just be left alone unless they do something that actually pertains to Silent hill 2 and the sins of James Sunderland, And that was what made him great! he was personification of negative karma in a sense. I'll have the article linked but tell me what you think of Pyramid heads over use? Read it here!

Though he didn't make a large appearance in Homecoming he did serve a purpose like all monsters do. Pyramid Head being the punisher of sins has never been said to be restricted to James. Pyramid Head is the representation of any sinner who feels guilt or seeks punishment in Silent Hill. He is the personification of punishment and will deal it out when neccesary. I don't know if anyone noticed but they do speak of triangle hooded figures who executed people in one of the pictures in the church in Silent Hill 3. I do agree that he is overused. He deserves this break from a true main entry so he can maybe make a grand return in the future of the franchise. biggrin

Maybe they could have delved more into Alex's mental state or maybe upon the the original families that left silent hill tp form this new town.

I completely agree with you! Though the new developer didn't make Homecoming I don't know if that's what you meant or not. The franchise is just being passed around by Konami right now. Hopefully it will find a new home soon. Anyway to the point I agree with your statment about Pyramid Head and his explanations for existing. Though he was just for fan service in Homecoming and the film I believe he served a purpose in both the only problem is explaining that purpose. The fans can only truely make predictions of what it is unlike where it was clearly and well explained in Silent Hill 2 with James and Pyramid Heads connection.

Don't get the jthm throw back? LOOK IT UP! but alas I think that until team silent gets back it will always be a gamble.

Even though I still love the series even when it's in the hands of new developers I hope and pray that Team Silent will unite once more for atleast one game for all the fans that have stuck with the series throughout the years. Japanese always have a great way with psyhcological horror. Alot of the newer entries in the series have more American horror elements like gore and disturbing scenes. Disturbing scenes in the games made by Team Silent made me either feel for the characters or cringe in disgust or fear. The new games still scare me once in awhile just not as much. Anyway I "hope" Team Silent will return for one last game like for the 15th anniversary or something. That would be nice for those who want another Team Silent made one.

Pyramid head was born from the towns ideologies, in other words what they believed and how they lived. Taking form of past executioners, Pyramid Head exists solely to punish those who feel the need to be. James was one such individual who arrived to Silent Hill with feelings of a need to be punished. Pyramid Head is not a creature all itself formed from the mind of James. It is of its own nature, like the dark ones Valtiel and Xuchilbara.
If the character, being a prison inmate, in the new game had felt the need to be punished for what he had done, I would find it highly appropriate for Pyramid Head to make an appearance. With that said, I would approve and appreciate his appearance and would support it without end.
You must understand the key elements which make Pyramid Head who he is. You must dive deeper than face value to understand a creature more terrible than the rest. His reasons for being are more complex than one man's grief and agony. Just as Valtiel overlooks the terrible town of Silent Hill, so do many other creatures, Pyramid Head included.
Pyramid Head had a reason to exist in Homecoming. Alex Shepards father felt he needed to be punished for what he did to his son. He took a large piece of the blame upon himself for how Sheperds Glen turned out. This is why Pyramid Head makes his appearance known early in the game, and it is why he focuses his attention solely on Alex's father.
He was not overused, he was the right tool for the right job.

I'm gonna miss him, that's for sure. I always saw James as the person who needed him the most, though 4235 is right. He was sort of needed in all of the games, though he might not be in this one due to the fact that Murphy probably feels he did nothing wrong. The shadow thing might replace PH though...

Pyramid Head is but one creature who could have used more attention. Valtiel is a super powerful being of Silent Hill, and yet he only makes his/her appearance in the third game... and the god of rebirth Xuchilbara, was only mentioned briefly in a book. One other thing worth noting about the differences in Pyramid Head appearances.... If you remember, James had a lot of creatures who were sexual or lustful because of his own personal psyche, and thus Pyramid Head is a Rape machine in that game. However, in Homecoming he is merely a slaughter machine doing his job. Just kind of shows how everyones individual psyche effects the appearance and attitude of this otherwise simply godly beast.
