If there was something that K knew, it was her customers. Something had been bothering Haley, lately, because her consumption rate had sky-rocketed. Of course, the girl had always been the 'Smoke Two Joints' kind of stoner, but this was something else.

Of course, it'd never been in her nature to pry, and so she continued to deliver, hanging around while they smoked, and sometimes talked. There wasn't much to do at 's place, but the blonde didn't particularly mind just lazing about.

The rest of her life was becoming rather packed, after all.

Today they were half-assing around the garden, 'helping out' Haley's parents, or rather, Kess was helping out and Haley was neurotically packing a bowl while they talked.

"I met this street performer," Kess remembered, tugging on a weed [and not the good kind]. "Talked to him about starting up a circus. I bet you'd be good at that, Sunshine." Not that Haley was particularly warm and sunny, lately.

Haley hadn't quite been herself in the past few weeks, and it was starting to show. Ever since her attack, she had been ridden with anxiety, which only increased after hallucinating the purple-haired Negaverse captain and imagining having killed her. Normally she was able to mask her anxiety by being high, but the strand that her family grew wasn't strong enough to cloak her feelings. Luckily, she could rely on her good old pal Kess for that type of aid.

She finished packing the bowl - it had taken her a while longer than normal on account of her shaky hands - and lit up. She took a long hit as she listened to her friend and dealer, wondering if the street performer she had mentioned was the same she had encountered not too long ago.

"Was his name Warwick?" she asked, her voice strained from the weed and smoke she was holding in her mouth. She coughed out the smoke and continued on. It wasn't that Warwick was the only street performer in the city, but he was the only street performer she had gotten high with - and perhaps he had gotten high with Kess as well. "If so, I met that dude. I showed him my dance moves from my past life."

A firm believer in past lives, Haley's psychic had told her that she had once worked as a street performer in the fourteenth century as a dancer. Wishing to demonstrate her skills to Kess, she did a small and quick suggestive dance that involved booty shaking, a**-slapping, breast grabbing, hair tossing and ended with a pop, a lock, and a drop.

"Be jealous of my moves, girl," she smiled as she offered the bowl to her friend.

"Impressive," Kess paused to take a hit, settling on an overturned wheelbarrow to hold the smoke, and letting it slowly crawl from her nose. Passing the glass back, she raised her brows in awe. "I've never seen a historical skank-dance before."

Running a hand over her pale, tousled hair, she considered the question. It'd been awhile ago, and well, she was a little hazy on the details. Had that been his name? Probably. It was weird enough, and it sounded familiar. "Yeah, that'd be him. Odd fellow, but hey, street performer, right?"

Not that Kess and Haley weren't odd.

"Please, that wasn't a skank-dance. Get me a pole and you'll see a skank-dance," Haley teased as took back the bowl. She toyed with it in her hands, not taking a hit yet as she thought about the circus she had mentioned. It sounded fun, but Haley was slightly frightened of clowns after a bad Halloween experience as a child. "We'll have to go check out the circus when it opens, see if we can get backstage and smoke down with the performers."

She took another hit and exhaled up towards the sky and offered back the piece. As she handed it back, she checked out her friend's body and thought for a moment.

"You have a good body," she complimented. "Do you work out or something?"

"Yeah," A quick, bright grin tugged at her mouth in response to the compliment, as she glanced over her own frame. The tanktop helped, she reckoned, along with the physical work they were doing. "I've always played sports, but, I run and do some kickboxing a few times a week."

Kess would ask if Haley worked out, but they both knew she didn't. "You should come to the studio." The blonde, surprisingly enough, encouraged most of her friends to learn some type of self-defense. Maybe being a drug-dealer, and having to fend off the 'unsavories' had fueled it. Of course, being a member of the Negaverse helped.

"Maybe, if its free," she shrugged. She didn't exactly want to pay for a gym membership or any fees for a class or personal trainer. "But kickboxing, huh? Come on, get up. Let's see what you've got. I bet I can take you."

She actually doubted that she would be able to, but hey - it sounded like fun right? What harm could really be done?

"I doubt it," came the goodnatured response, and the blonde handed back the pipe, breathing out smoke as she reluctantly getting to her feet. She didn't get into a combat stance, though, and instead continued to rub at her short hair.

"Aw, c'mon, Haley," She laughed, "Don't be ridiculous." Since when did they wrestle around? Well... There had been that one time, skinny-dipping at the river, but that'd been a little different.

"I'm not, I can take you!" she insisted. Haley took the pipe and took a quick hit before placing it down with the lighter on the ground. She got into a combat stance - the boxing position, but her legs weren't properly in balance and her fists weren't at all blocking her face. She hopped from side to side as she sang in a very off-key tone, "Hit me with your best shot!"

"Hale, we're bros, I can't just go kicking you..." She trailed off lamely, then lifted a shoulder in a shrug.

Clearly, Haley wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer, and by the looks of things, she'd quickly start trying to 'take' Kess, and not in the way she preferred.

Maybe she could end it before it began, and escalated.

It was fast, the way she turned on one foot, smooth and practice as she snapped a foot up to strike for Haley's jaw. It wasn't full force, more a practice tap to a bag, but it would be enough to show some skill. Hopefully. Haley was a bit of a loudmouth, but she'd never been the violent type.

The foot connected with Haley's jaw with enough force to topple her over in her poor stance. She fell into the grass of the garden with a light stumble and a soft thud and a crunch of leaves and grass. She spun her head to the blonde, staring up at her.

"Why the ******** did you just kick me?" she shouted. Clearly she had little idea what kickboxing was. She picked herself off the ground and rubbed her jaw - it wasn't that bad of an injury. It might swell, but she could just put some ice on it. Besides, it was nothing quite like the other injuries she had sustained recently - and she survived those, thanks to Virgo's magic.

"You gotta teach me some moves like that," she cracked her neck. "That was pretty ******** sweet. Hurt like a b***h, but pretty sweet, man."

"That'd be the 'kick' part. It comes before the 'boxing'." It was dryly amused, despite the way dark eyes combed over her friend, checking her for any obvious injury. Not from the kick, but from the way she'd fallen. She'd have to teach her the proper way to do that, as well.

Before she could stretch out a hand to help her, Haley was on her feet, proving that she was, in fact, just fine. "What can I say, I'm a regular ninja." More like a street-fighter, really.

"I can show you some stuff, but you've got to actually practice, you know, or it won't work." If the moves didn't become second-nature, you couldn't rely on them in a real fight.

She jerked a thumb over her shoulder, toward the house. "Wanna throw some ice on it? You don't need a bruise on that pretty face." Sorry, her tone said.

Haley continued to rub her jaw – it was already starting to swell up pretty bad. It hurt like a mother ********, but she did her best to laugh it off. Some ice and a few hits from the last of that pipe would probably alleviate most of the pain.

“Yeah,” she nodded to her offer as she picked the pipe back off the ground. “You can give me lessons. I’ll call you Miss Reever and all that s**t too. Or Master Reever. Mistress Reever? I don’t even ******** know.”

She stopped massaging the swollen jaw only to take another hit from the pipe, exhaling the smoke off to the side with a light cough as she motioned the way inside to grab some ice to put over the injury. There was some comfort in knowing she’d have these lessons – sure she was hurt in more ways than one now, but hopefully with Kess’s aide she’d be able to defend herself from being hurt again.

Silent Spy

"Sweet," if there was one thing Haley was good at, it was brushing things off. It was, perhaps, one of the reasons that they continued to be friends, since neither girl was particularly easy to upset, or at least, they didn't stay angry for long.

What was the point in that?

Kess knew her way well enough around the kitchen, and it didn't take long before she handed over a makeshift ice pack.

"I'm pretty busy tomorrow, but we can get started the day after. Just text me when you're free and we'll work something out."

She grinned. "Your bruise should be gone by then."
