Hey all you awesome people out there~ 3nodding
I don't know about all of you, but since Halloween's come around, the scent of candy is in the air, along with the memories of how we all came together and became totally awesome and fabulous a group, and subsequently good friends. But seriously, we all know the part about the awesomeness and fabulousness is true. 83
Anyways, I've been thinking a lot about our original RP and I know we all talked about rebooting it way back when. Lorika and I were discussing this just tonight actually, and I'd like to know if anyone else would be interested in doing this, and more importantly, if anyone would have the time to devote to it. Obviously this would be a great undertaking, as such ideas are more than welcome, so please share if you have some.
So! Without further ado...

Life been busy? I know mine has! I'm training to be a teacher now and the workload is crazy D: Or maybe it just seems that way since I've been out of school for over a year now.

but my biggest concern would be the conflict or driving force behind the whole thing. Last time it was... rather vague.

The driving force behind the original one was finding the Overseer and getting his powers back - it DID pretty much derail due to the influence of tons of other things, like getting the Order established on the island and then rebuilding the Temple and such... which is why the elves ended up going to yank him out of whatever hole he'd crawled under themselves. Again with a certain amount of derailment. 8D;
When I post the full storyline for everyone to see everything should make more sense, including certain events during the chapter one rp event that didnt seem relevant at all but actually had a big impact on the future storyline.
I'm not sure what the driving force behind the rebooted rp will be. I really think everyone is just excited right now to be able to reprise their characters. I know I am! 4laugh

That's right... almost anything meant to be canon was swept out of view when other events became more attention grabbing for a lot of people. Maybe some sort of random battles could be implemented, let characters have a chance to use some sort of combat to move things along? And yeah, Giving Storm an Overhaul is long overdue... lol, wish I could have made Bhaalspawn work better.

For one thing, the passage of time needs to occur a lot more reliably, rather than just everyone ending up waiting around for a couple of people of people to finish up their scene or whatever. I've been developing an out-of-guild rp for a little while now and the principle I'm using for that is a predictable day-night cycle that advances every week. If people get left behind or cant finish their scene, they just post a summary of events since the last time they posted and move on.
But that works within the context of that rp and I'm not sure it'd work so well here (the second part would, but not the day-night cycle). We really do need more reliable passage of time, though.

Oooh wow, lots of posts!! =O
Everything sounds good to me. I'm looking forward to creating new characters and just RPing again in general. It's been so long!! xd
One thing though. Thought this up last night. If we're going to have a battle system, I think it should be made simpler, like it's been mentioned before. However, I also think we should be able to make our characters' skills on our own, so that it creates uniqueness. BUT!! (And this is important!) we should have somebody review the skill(s) first so that the skill has no godmodding/I'm always gonna win/etc. potential.
What do you all think?

Yeah, avoiding godmodding was exactly the reason the system was put in place in the first place! A strict set of rules left little leeway to pull tons of crazy powerful s**t... but people still ended up doing it anyway... I think maybe for the reboot I'll take a stronger stance on "THIS IS THE KIND OF THING WE'RE TRYING TO AVOID, SO DONT DO IT!!"... but the problem is, if people dont obey, it's difficult asking them to rewrite all the time =/ hmmm

Well, we could have some guidelines and then tell people to go crazy, but stay within that set of guidelines? Or would that just be hypocritical? XD

That'll probably be the sort of thing that'll happen... except the words "GO CRAZY" will never, ever be used, lmao!! "Enjoy yourself but REMEMBER NOT TO GO CRAZY AND EXPLODE THE WORLD" is more like it XDDD rofl
