Welcome to the Halloween 2011 CYOA!

We're going to have a lot of fun here, but without the worries of a large, complex event. Just gonna' have a little side adventure with the possibility for some people to come away with some shiny prizes! Sound good? Then read on!
PostPosted: Fri Oct 28, 2011 3:51 pm

General Info and Rules

  • Anyone may play, whether or not you have a Pae'il. If you do not have a Pae'il, you may play yourself or another human character taking part in the search. If you do have Pae'il, remember that you can only make ONE choice a day, so keep this in mind if you're considering playing more than one of your characters in the game.
  • Please make all choices clear in your reply posts.
  • There will be some smaller prizes possible along the way, as well as some elimination posts.
  • We're not expecting you to write a novel in reply to each prompt, however, remember, staff likes to reward people who get involved and enthusiastic with RP events...
  • Each round's prompt will be posted and the players will have 24 hours to respond before the next prompt is posted. If you have not responded in 24 hours, you will be eliminated and the game will continue without you. Everyone should have a chance to respond, as we're not requiring epic novels for responses, but we don't want to hold up the game either.
  • IF players wish it, and everyone can be online or get their posts in promptly before the deadline, we may progress quicker through the game. Otherwise, this will be a prompt a day and will last for around a week.
  • The first round will definitely be 24 hours, so that anyone who wants to join in may do so. After the second round's prompt is posted, however, no new players may join the game.

Possible Prizes

  • (1-2) Pre-made Growing Child Pae for winner(s)
  • Possible accessory edit coupons
  • Possible body edit potions
  • Semi-custom adult Pae

Opening - Round 1

The anxious little fae hovered back and forth, her hands wringing worriedly. Oh, what a disaster; as if they needed more problems right now. From time to time, Iris would pause and glance up, eyes meeting with those of a Pae'il, and she would nod distractedly in greeting. Just a few more minutes, then she would make her announcement.

As soon as she'd heard, she'd sent out a summon to all Pae'il in the immediate area, requesting that they come to the HQ to assist in an urgent matter. There was little time to waste, and the timing certainly wasn't helping things. It was that time of year again, and she couldn't help but think back with dismay to the events that unfolded two years before. Mysterious masquerade hosts, angry wolf spirits, possessed Pae'il...Telrunya certainly didn't need a repeat of that fiasco.

And now...two children had gone missing.

It was unlikely that anything similar were about to occur, but that didn't stop the little fae from fretting.

When a suitable crowd had gathered and Iris felt that there were no more Pae'il on their way, she began explaining why she'd called them all here. "Thank you for taking the time to heed my call. You are all very generous Pae'il for taking time out of your lives for this purpose. I am dismayed to relay that two young ones have gone missing. Time is of the essence and we need to find them as soon as possible." She didn't elaborate on her personal concerns; no need to incite panic.

"We will start the search here, and branch outwards as necessary. Hopefully, they will not have gone far, but I'm sure you all know the nature of children and how it often goes hand-in-hand with unpredictability. Now, rather than scatter all over the Isle, we should stick to groups when we split up. Some of us will start here and search the HQ, and some may head to the lake to search the beach. If neither party has any success, we will reconvene here outside the HQ to discuss our next move. Everyone understand? Good. Let's split up and move out!"

=====

Which location will you choose?

A. I'm going with the HQ. It's right here, and there's plenty of places in there for children to hide.

B. I'll go to the lake. Who knows, maybe the kids just wanted to take a swim?

Kabocha stood there at the HQ, heard about what happen, and scoffed. "I got out of bed...for this?" She thought and sighed "Well. I'll here now. Might as well do something."

Kobocha heard the rest about what the she fae said on where to look and Kobocha was the first to head off into the woods towards the lake.

As she hovered lingering place to place she started to think out loud. "Depending on how long they were missing, they could of been missing for awhile and better to head out then in. If it was in, they were safe. If they were out here....they were not."

User ImageZuine had been walking by with her brother when the distressed-looking fairy had implored them to search for a couple of missing children. At first Zuine hadn't particularly cared--let their own parents search for them--but Terje had reminded her that perhaps, like they themselves, these missing children didn't have any parents to look for them.

And so, begrudgingly, Zuine had agreed to search the HQ building. She and Terje had been experts at hide-and-seek as children; they'd find every small nook and cranny a little kid to hide in.

User ImageOf course compassionate Terje had wanted to help locate the missing little ones. Of course. And once he'd convinced his sister to help, he knew that together they'd find them. "We'll search the HQ," he'd told the frazzled fairy, with what he hoped was a comforting smile.

[Incase it wasn't clear, they've picked option A, and they'll be traveling together for the whole time. I'm playing them sort of as a unit.]

The teen let out a long drawn out sigh as leaned against a tree over looking the lake. It was way to cold for a swim, he would know with his own love of the water. He looked over to see another female had beaten him to the punch of being first but that didn't matter. The missing children were what mattered. He sighed again and looked around. There was so much ground to cover and so little time. If they didn't act fast well...Those kids were goners. All he could do was pray they were safe in the HQ. What were the chances of that though?

Chika blinked, looking around. Well she'd have to think the kids just wanted to take a swim.

"I'll go to the lake!" She offered, it was the choice she would have made. She rubbed her head, wondering why the kids would have wandered off in the first place. It was so silly, kids should know better than to run away from their parents didn't they?

User ImageCosworth: A. I'm going with the HQ. It's right here, and there's plenty of places in there for children to hide.

The scruffy Faun silently weighed his options. Cosworth had considered ignoring the plea for help- He needed to get home and seriously doubted he'd be able to assist in any useful fashion- but it wasn't very long before he'd heard enough. A couple of kids were in danger, and he'd not ignore that. Standing to the rear, as out of sight as possible, he watched as others made up their minds as to where they were headed. As for himself...

"I suppose I'll help with searching the HQ." He said firmly. "It's terribly easy to get lost in there, and I suspect that's where the little ones've gone."

He suppressed a pang of remorse as his mind subconsciously wandered to the worst case scenario, as it sometimes did on occasions such as this. "Focus," He muttered to himself. "Focus on the job."

Round 2

At the HQ:

Upon entering the HQ, the Pae would have another choice to make. The lobby opened way to two paths, one leading into the kitchen, the other leading down a quiet hallway and into the library. The kitchen was always stocked with food and tempted many a Pae, not just children, with its tasty bounty. On the other hand, if the children were only playing, perhaps they thought the quiet library might be a good place to play hide-and-seek.

Where will you go?

A. To the Kitchen! Maybe the kids got hungry?

B. To the Library! If the kids wanna' play hide-and-seek, it's about time someone found them.

=====

On the Beach:

The sands stretched out in either direction, with the waters lapping lightly at the shore. The water was calm tonight; a good sign in case the children had decided to go for a swim. Looking to the north, the shoreline was dark, but...if one looked carefully, was that something moving about up there? It wasn't much and the darkness made it hard to tell. To the south, one could see lights glowing softly on the edge of the water. What was that? Lights could mean Pae, so maybe the children went that way?

Which way do you go?

A. To the north, someone should check out what's moving about up there, if anything.

B. To the south, towards the lights and possibly others; that's what lost children would do, right?

Chika looked from north to south, thinking.. The lights looked friendly enough, and the other direction looked scary.. But then again if the kids didn't want to be caught they'd go away from the lights right?

She sighed, pulling on her big girl hooves and took off towards the dark. Totally not what she wanted to do, being seriously afraid of the dark and all. The moving scared little Chika, but she was determined to find these little kids.

Kabocha stood there looking around the lake and sighed. They weren't there. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes to feel the cool night and take a smell the fresh air.

She looked up again after she was done and started to look around. "Alright. Not here. If I was a child, where would I be?"

She then saw lights at the distance. "There!"

Kobocha took off towards the lights, carefully and silently. "I don't know what those lights are, but if I was a child and in the dark all alone and lost, I would head to comfort. Lights usually other people or warmth."

Cosworth: A. To the Kitchen! Maybe the kids got hungry?

Cosworth didn't hesitate heading to the kitchen. If the children were in the library, they'd be hiding amongst the books or something. If they were in the kitchen, they'd be playing with knives. Or discovering the many wonders of fermented grape juice. Shaking his head at that last thought, the earth-coloured faun quietly entered the well-stocked kitchen, marveling at some of the preserved ingredients lining the shelves, and mounds of fruit in several large baskets.

"But that's not what I came here for." He reminded himself, green eyes looking away from the food to scan the corners, nooks and crannies of the complex room. His ears swiveled around, and his nose twitched, all his senses alert.

That didn't, of course, stop him from taking a mango from one of the baskets. He began peeling as he walked away, and sucked away at it whilst continuing the search.

Aquos watched as the two others that had come to the lake both run off in different directions. He sighed and rubbed his head. Two ways to go...Both could be bad..The light to the south could mean good, but the light could also betray. The darkness to the north was no better. It wasn't the darkness it's self to be worried about, it was what lurked in the darkness that was worrying. He weighed his options before heading off to the north and into the darkness. Hopefully there wouldn't be anything up there that truly did go bump.

A. To the north, someone should check out what's moving about up there, if anything.

B: Hide and seek!
Zuine looks to Terje and shrugs. "I think let's search the kitchen. Maybe we can find some goodies for ourselves while we're in there."

Terje shakes his head. "Looks like there's already people searching the kitchen, and besides, if they're playing hide-and-seek they'll probably be in the library, with more places to hide."

"Fair enough. To the library!"

Round 3

In the Kitchen:

While the kitchen is certainly expansive and well-stocked, you see no signs of the kids. Just some food items here and there, a cask of liquor in the corner, and...and sandwich on the table? Odd.

Still, you're a bit hungry, even after the fruit, and maybe there are more goodies in the fridge! Then again...aren't the kids more important? You should keep looking...but how well will you do on an empty stomach? Maybe just a quick snack, then get moving again.

What will you do?

A. Raid the fridge! Gotta' be some good food here, and there's that cask of liquor in the corner...the kids can wait a bit, right?

B. The kids are more important. Grab that sandwich from the table, and get moving. It's almost time to rejoin the others.

=====

In the Library:

Books stacked on the floor, some collapsed in haphazard piles, but so far, no sign of any children. After searching for a while, it's plain to see that there's no one hiding in the library. Now what?

The search had also revealed two doors, besides the one used to enter the room. One door opens to reveal stairs leading downward, to a basement perhaps? The other into a plush lounge, much like a reading room attached to the library.

Which door will you choose?

A. To the Basement! Even though it looks dark, maybe the kids got lost...they could be scared down there!

B. To the Lounge! It doesn't seem nearly as scary; besides, that chair looks comfy...

((Due to my own error, there's a Round 3.5 for Mene following her response to this prompt, which I will post immediately following. She's not any further ahead or behind anyone else, and you'll all be on the same Round again afterwards. Just a planning error. My bad. ^^;; ))

=====

On the North Beach:

It's dark here, and difficult to see, but if you move carefully, you can find your way without much trouble. Without much to trip over on the sands, it's not really that bad. The signs of movement that you saw earlier take form at the water's edge...it appears to be a Naiad? Surprised that you couldn't see her better before, up close you notice her bright colors, even here in the dim light. She's red and yellow, with some mottled coloring, but her hair is some shade of dark color, whether brown or black, you can't tell in this light. She looks up in surprise, seemingly not expecting visitors at this hour.

"I'm sorry," she tilts her head at you, cerulean eyes peering out from between her dark locks. "Could I help you with something?"

How do you answer?

A. Demand that she tell you everything! Obviously, she's responsible for the kids' disappearance. She must have kidnapped them!

B. Politely ask if she's seen any children about alone tonight, or anything else suspicious. Only right not to jump to conclusions; and manners are always important.

=====

On the South Beach:

Apparently, the light was coming from a bar of some sort on the water's edge. Hula Bob's? Interesting name. The bar is decorated and a warm, inviting light shines from the building. Still, it's a bar...would kids be in a bar?

Nearby, the shoreline was lit up from the lights of the bar. If the kids had decided to take a swim, this would be a good place. It was well-lit, calm, and there might likely be others about if they needed help for any reason. Not that kids always thought that far ahead, but sometimes it was instinctual to keep adults within shouting distance.

Which place will you check out?

A. To Hula Bob's! Even if the kids aren't there, maybe you can get a drink or a snack?

B. To the shoreline! It does look like a nice place for a swim, and maybe you should check it out, just to be sure. Afterall, someone else is likely to see them in the bar, right?
