Well this isn't too bad, Claire thought as she sat down on a rock with a slow sigh. Her stone seat was rather cold - but then again, everywhere was cold this time of year, especially the beach. But she'd had a few things to do on her day off that brought her to Camphoreon anyway, so it was either this beach or the one near the desert. Normally she'd avoid either when the weather was getting cooler, but she had a good reason today. Two, actually. A pair of white flashes of light morphed into two Glaceons, and Claire pocketed Alexina's and Skiron's pokeballs. She had the day off but Frost did not, but agreed that a day out for the two Glaceons could prove beneficial in the long run, so he entrusted her with his ice-type's ball. "Alright, go have fun," she told the pair with a smile as she pulled out two more pokeballs.

Alexina churred excitedly after a nice stretch. And with that, she was off towards the water line.

The smile persisted as she watched them both, then released two more pokemon - a small Cyndaquil and a Growlithe. "Grauf." Artemis's ears flicked back at the scenery - beaches meant water - and she flopped herself down in the thick sand to pout.

"You went for a run in the desert earlier," Claire chided her as she pocketed the pokeballs, then picked up Luc - who immediately curled up in a ball in her lap. She shivered slightly at the chill in the air and zipped her coat back up, readjusted the gloves over her fingers, then reached into the bag at her side and pulled out a book. Today wouldn't be very productive at this rate, but she needed some time off from work to just think about nothing. Certainly not about recent events and/or feelings.

It was quite strange to appear out of his pokeball and not see Frost. He had been prepared for it but it was still very odd indeed. He knew Claire well enough by now though, and so he gave her a friendly chirp before turning to Alexina. he agreed cheerfully, trotting off beside her. The water was coming in quite gently, that was good; he didn't especially fancy being battered by large waves.

*****

Claire was not the only human on this stretch of beach, but she was the only one bundled up in warm clothes. So far as Dith was conserned it was cool not cold, and just about perfect for a run on the beach in a t-shirt and knee length shorts. He'd already been going a good while by the time he spotted the distant figure settle down on a rock and resolved to take a break once he reached it. As he drew closer the huge man grinned to himself, clearly a local or somebody from a similar climate at any rate. Jogging to a halt breathing heavily, Dith gave the well bundled up woman a friendly grin. "Afternoon! Nice day, isn't it?"

Claire offered Skiron a smile at his greeting - which was more than she'd gotten from her own excited Glaceon - then turned to start her book.

Alexina chirruped happily as she bounded closer to the water line, obviously very excited by their outing, then halted just before it to allow the other ice-type to catch up. she said earnestly, gold-tipped tail waving in the air as she padded closer, letting the cold water wash over her paws. It felt amazing, and her gold eyes closed in pleasure while she relished it. There was probably a more proper word, but right now she couldn't think of one.

At first Claire was startled by the sudden greeting - she'd been too busy reading to see him approach - and she was startled a second time by how incredibly huge this man was. Her eyebrows rose proportional to her incredulous thoughts, though after a moment she realized how that must look and smoothed over the expression. "It is," she agreed, "and good afternoon to you, too. ...aren't you cold..?" ...he was wearing a T-shirt. And shorts. And he must have been at least six and a half feet tall. Holy crap, this guy was huge and crazy. She was cold even though she was bundled up, and here this guy was waltzing around like it was summer or something.

The large man, while he surprised Claire momentarily, visibly frightened Luc. The small Cyndaquil squeaked pitifully before swiveling in Claire's lap, covering his eyes with his stubby arms and burying his face into her jacket. Artemis, however, was completely unperturbed by the appearance of this newcomer. She was, in fact, much more interested and excited than nervous or scared. "Awrrf!" The fire-type jumped to her paws to face him, her eyes bright and tail wagging. He was big!

Skiron agreed eagerly as he paddled into the cold water. he mused, patting at a gently lapping wave, That would save Frost and Claire from trying to match schedules to take them places, which was good because Frost always seemed to have a million and one things to do these days.

"Ehehe, no no," Dith chuckled, kneeling down in the sand and holding his hand out to Artemis so that she could sniff him. "Is just cool from my point of view," he went on, "quite comfortable if you're running." It was nice that the puppy seemed to like him; the Cindaquil was hiding from him and the young woman was giving him one of those incredulous looks he sometimes got. Would six foot really have been so much to ask of the world? Six four even? Well well, it did have its advantages even if some people were intimidated.

"My name's Dith by the way," Dith went on, "your pokemon are quite lovely. Here, would you like to meet another friend?" That last sentence was directed at the Growlithe, and as he spoke Dith fetched a plain grey pokeball out of one pocket and released the occupant.

Viktor gave himself a shake as he appeared, getting his bearings and getting used to the sand under his paws. he blinked in surprise as he realised that they weren't alone, and bobbed his head polity to the Growlithe.

she agreed readily, trotting closer before pouncing and landing next to him in the hopes she'd splash him. She fixed him with a coquettish smile as she stretched while leaning into his side. she purred into his ear, waiting just a moment before she gently tugged it with her teeth and pounced over him with a devious little grin.

Ah, kneeling was much better. He looked a lot more normal. Well, almost, anyway. "You must be from somewhere cold," she noted aloud - he had an accent too, and a certain way of speaking that was pointedly foreign. She couldn't place it with any certainty though. "I'm not," she relinquished with a rueful smile, "so I think it's quite cold." Thus the jacket, boots, and gloves - and the scarf sticking out from one pocket.

The Cyndaquil was trembling in Claire's lap still - no surprise there - and the agent closed her book with one hand and laid the other over the nervous fire-type. Artemis sniffed his hand once or twice before she started licking and nudging it true to excited puppy form, and when Viktor was released she yipped gleefully and dropped into a play-stance. She replied, remembering to be polite. She hadn't almost forgotten, of course not. Oh, she hoped he wanted to play!

The splashing gambit came off perfectly, causing Skiron to squeak and close his eyes to avoid getting salt water in them. he said in slightly stumbling tones, opening his eyes and swiping water playfully towards the other Glaceon. It was good just to relax like this, he so seldom got a chance to be whimsical and carefree around Frost.

“Cold? You could say that,” Dith replied with a grin but didn’t bother elaborating with just how cold, mainly because it felt a bit like bragging to go on about it to a stranger. Once Viktor appeared and the Growlithe lost interest in him – understandable, something more her size would make a much better playmate – Dith looked up again, and spotted a pair of Glaceon in the water. One of them was clearly custom bred, lovely striped thing, and the other.... It looked like a shiny from here. The sight of it gave him a knot in his stomach; it looked so very much like Skiron he could almost have said it was Skiron but it couldn't be, it was just coloured like him. No longer really paying attention to the person and pokemon immediately beside him the huge man gazed over at the playful pair of ice types, a distinct air of melancholy replacing his expansive friendliness.

Viktor replied with a warm smile, A glance around from something that would be invisible naturally did not reveal the invisible thing, but it did reveal a suddenly unhappy looking trainer. Giving a chirr of concern Viktor followed his trainer’s gaze.... And froze. It... it couldn’t be. It was. Skiron.

The squeak and his uncertain tones made her smile - until he retaliated. She squealed in delight, eyes quickly shut tight before she shook her head to rid it of the droplets of water. Ooh, he was in for it!

A smile twitched onto her face in spite of herself - she normally made an effort to avoid socializing with non-Rockets - but he seemed like an amiable person. When he opted not to elaborate, she couldn't help but continue to wonder just where he was from. Nowhere she'd ever been, she was sure. But then he fell silent and looked sort of... thoughtful? Thoughtful and sad. A vague furrowing of her brow indicated her mild confusion, and just like Viktor - very interesting coloring on that Espeon - her purple eyes followed his gaze until they landed on the pair of Glaceons. He was watching Skiron and Alexina. But why? And why did it change his demeanor so suddenly? With several red flags raised - not that she'd hint at any external concerns, of course - she offered him a perplexed and vaguely worried look. "Are you alright...?"

Artemis seemed saddened by this news of no playing with the Espeon - and playing with something that could turn invisible wasn't as fun either. Being invisible was sort of like cheating, in her opinion, but before she could comment, the attention of both Espeon and owner was diverted to the Glaceons not too far off. She asked as she straightened up, then plopped her rump back in the sand.

Xina hopped closer before pouncing Skiron - gently, of course, she didn't want to actually hurt him - then flopped into the water with a wide, low splash. She shook her head again and smiled, ears perked, then glanced towards her owner just as the girl turned from them to -- some man. She asked of her companion, indicating the enormous man with a small nod of her head, her gold eyes flitting back to the pale Glaceon.

“Mmh?” Dith blinked and shook himself, turning back to Claire with a smile back on his lips, albeit it a slightly wan one. “Mmmh, yes I’m fine. Your Glaceon just reminds me of one I used to know, the shiny one that is. Belonged to a good friend of mine who I haven’t seen in far too long. Anyway though- Viktor?” The Esepon was sprinting down towards the water, such a sudden impulsive act was unlike him and left Dith momentarily bemused. After those few moments he twigged that Viktor thought it was Skiron too... and Viktor’s eyes were better than his. “Uh, if you don’t mind me asking miss what is that Glaceon’s name?...”

With only a very brief ‘please excuse me’ chirp to the Growlithe, Viktor took off across the sand at a sprint. Skiron, here! What was he doing with this female? Where was Jack? Dima thought that Jack had got mixed up with something dangerous, and now here was Skiron with somebody who wasn’t Jack. This didn’t bode well, not in the slightest.

Skrion paused and tilted his head in question. That was Dima, and running towards him was Viktor. When the Espeon called to him Skrion turned to Alexina with a rather desperate expression on his face. he muttered tightly, He couldn’t exactly run away, and unable to think of anything else he could possibly do the ice type froze in place. Oh no. The day had been going so well and now this!

At first she was afraid he'd say Alexina looked familiar - she did find her one day in Camphoreon, after all, with no idea where she'd come from or who she originally belonged to - but then he elaborated, specifying Skiron. s**t. And now he was asking questions about him. s**t. This wasn't what she'd signed up for when she came out here today. Arceus, she should've gone to the beach by the desert... Her mind was racing as she tried to evaluate the situation as quickly as possible. If Skiron did belong to an old friend of his - Frost - then there was no point in lying about anything, because he'd know immediately. s**t. "No, I don't mind," she said after a brief moment to process everything. Her gaze had been fixed on the ice-types while he spoke, but she turned to him then to say, "his name is Skiron." Her brow furrowed slightly. "How do you know his owner..?" s**t, she hadn't expected anything like this to happen...

Alexina repeated in a soft murmur, hunkering down in the shallow water as the strange Espeon approached. She couldn't help the slight twitch of her ears as they flicked backwards a bit. If Skiron was nervous, then this didn't bode well at all.

Dith's eyes narrowed and he got to his feet again, folding his arms across his chest; as body language went it was far from friendly, but was certainly far more defensive than it was hostile. "I did not say I knew the trainer of that Glaceon over there," he said flatly, "I said that I knew the trainer of one very much like him, and yet you jump to interesting conclusions... correct conclusions. I wonder how you did that? Seen as you answered my question though I shall answer yours in kind; his trainer was my best friend and housemate for sixteen years until he skipped out of town one day and never returned, then over the years communicated less and less until he stopped completely." Drawing himself up to his full height, Dith looked down at Claire with an expression that managed to be nearly as chilly as one of Frost's glares. "Another question for you now," he said softly, "how is it that you known Jack White, if that's even what he's calling himself these days?"

been, and what in Arceus' name do you think you're doing?>

Skiron cleared his throat nervously but kept his stance upright rather than hunkering down before the scolding as he might once have done. he said evasively, This wasn't how he'd hoped to see Viktor again nor how he'd hoped to be greeted when he did see him, but life seldom did turn out quite how you would have liked.

Viktor snapped, stopping just short of the lapping water with his tail twitching in agitation.

Luc whimpered quietly and continued trembling when the scary monster stood up again, burying his white face into Claire's jacket. Artemis, on the other hand, could sense the tension mounting between the two. It made her nervous, and her ears and tail lowered. "Awrr..?"

"No, you didn't," she relented, her own eyes narrowing slightly as she straightened up a bit - if only to be able to see his face now that he was standing again. Holy crap he was tall... "But like you said, you knew one like him - and your Espeon obviously came to the exact same conclusions before I even mentioned it. It isn't hard to tell from that, if nothing else, that he must be the same." It was the logical conclusion based on what was said and done thus far - it made sense. And it was right. How did she do that indeed.

The name he used to refer to Frost was new to her, but that was no surprise. She went by a completely different name before, too - not that she would tell this man any of that. Judging from how displeased he looked - which, with his height, seemed like a major understatement - he at least had a vague idea of where Frost was now, especially with his last comment of 'if that's even what he's calling himself'. No, he had to know at least partially where Frost was. ...which meant he had similar suspicions for her. s**t. She sincerely hoped not, but dammit, he was making her nervous now. She was glad she had Odette's pokeball within reach if she needed to call the Pidgeot out. "He's an acquaintance of mine," she responded readily, eyes still vaguely narrowed at his seemingly angry and hostile demeanor. "I only see him as often as I do because of our Glaceon," she said and indicated the pair with Viktor with one hand.

Oh dear, the Espeon didn't look pleased in the slightest, and Skiron didn't seem to know what to do or say. She didn't like this anymore, not at all. Xina really wanted to just go back to Claire's room... She had started hesitantly after Skiron's introduction - but the Espeon had completely ignored it. Probably best to stay quiet then...

Right. Confirmation. Now what? The sudden feeling of a cold hand on his shoulder made Dith shiver, but he felt reassured despite the physical reaction. Zla was being him, still unseen but there. "You must know him quite well for him to trust you with Skiron," Dith managed after some moments, "he wouldn't let just anyone take him out." Two people he knew of now that Snowy seemed to trust. He was happy for him, and jealous at the same time. Sure it was selfish but it kind of made you feel important to be somebody's only friend and confidant... make that very selfish, he should just be happy and nothing else. Well, other than the whole involvement with criminal activities and so on. Ugh. What was he going to do about that?

"You can call me Dimitry," Dith said after a short pause, "I don't suppose you'll tell me your name?" What was he going to do? He didn't know she was a Rocket but then honestly he didn't know that Jack was either.... This was a good opportunity, provided he didn't blow it and get too intense like he had with that Xander kid. Well, even if he hadn't he would have got interrupted by the whole rocket attack thing. Dith blew a long slow breath out through his nose and unfolded his arms. "Perhaps you will tell me something else though," he said, trying to keep his voice calm and even, "could you tell me... how's he doing?"

Skiron said, a touch of firmness entering his voice as the Espeon spoke over Xina.

Viktor took a half step back to avoid an incoming wavelet, but the practical movement was also appropriate for his surprise at Skiron's admonishment. Things had changed since they'd last seen one another. he said after a short pause, He hadn't really noticed the different name before. It was harsher than Snowy, but perhaps that was fitting. Viktor asked rhetorically, turning then to the female Glaceon,

'Know him quite well'? Hardly. She fixed him with a skeptical look. "I don't think so," she said after a brief moment for thought, then looked pointedly at the pair of Glaceon with his Espeon. "I told you before, I'm only here right now so they can spend time together. I think he's hoping they'll reproduce of their own accord - he probably would like a second Glaceon. I know he does want more ice-types," she said with a light shrug. If they did have eggs, she'd probably prefer it to evolve into one of the other evolutions rather than have a second Glaceon.

She hesitated at his name and furrowed her brow slightly before attempting to repeat it. "Dimitry?" Odd sort of name, but she'd heard more odd ones before. Definitely foreign. "Lucy. Nice to meet you, Dimitry," she added after another brief pause, her words carrying a tinge of sarcasm - 'nice to know your name after you've glared at me in an incredibly accusatory way.' His next question immediately made her suspicious.. until he asked how Frost was doing. Oh. Her suspicion turned into thoughtfulness as her gaze slid to the pokemon by the water again. "It's... hard to tell with him," she started, "but if you knew him for as long as you've said, then you'd probably know that.." Unless they knew each other so long, it became much easier for Dimitry to know how Frost - Jack - was feeling. "But..." Her brow furrowed a bit further, "I think so..? He doesn't seem upset or anything when I see him, though he usually doesn't seem anything but indifferent more often than not," she finished with a shrug. He really was an incredibly hard person to read, so that made this otherwise easy-to-answer question rather difficult.

Alexina merely watched and listened as the pair spoke, but when Viktor addressed her, her ears perked up. She aimed a brief, hesitant glance at Skiron before focusing on the Espeon and straightening herself up. she explained, ears still at a hesitant half-staff. Claire, after all, gave her ice cream, let her go in the pool, and even tried to schedule outings with Skiron, and to be honest Xina couldn't be happier. ...well she could, if the giant man and this Espeon hadn't shown up - things were much more pleasant before.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 29, 2011 5:27 pm

That was really the most he could hope for; alive, presumably healthy, and not upset enough for it to show. Then again, when was Snowy ever upset enough for it to show? Well, for it to show to someone who wasn't used to reading those tiny little tells anyway. "Da, I know." Dith sighed and nodded, struggling to reconcile hostility towards this woman who he presumed made her living doing harm, and his desire to ask her more about his old friend. Damnit, why had Jack got himself mixed up in this? Why had he left to begin with? Why did the people in his life always just hide problems from him until they apparently got so big that they didn't want to be around him anymore, was he supposed to be psychic?... Now he was just getting self-pitying, and that did no good to anybody.

"Well anyway he must trust you on some level, be it personal or... professional." That last word was a little difficult to get out, but it probably was a profession to them. He wondered what this 'Lucy' did, Snowy clearly would be engineering.... Maybe that was what had drawn him in, the chance to work on advanced projects without worrying about laws and so on.

What was he supposed say now, or to do? What was he going to tell the others later, that he'd met somebody who was probably a rocket and done nothing about it? Dith gnawed his lower lip, now adding sickening uncertainty to the cocktail of emotions twisting in his stomach. "You... you work with him much?" Would she tell him if she did? It had even sounded like she didn't from what she'd said about not knowing him but he'd still asked. Anything she told him about Jack was more than he'd known this morning though, and that was... something, he wasn't sure if it was good or bad.

<...Last trainer? She stole you then?> Viktor wasn't sure how to feel about that; clearly what the human had done was wrong and yet if Alexina was happier now hadn't it come out for the best for her? Ye believed greatly in loyalty to a trainer, but only if they were loyal to you in return. the Espeon added eventually,

Skion said in cool tones, but after a moment he sighed and seemed to deflate somewhat. he said softly, Ears somewhat drooped Skiron watched the psychic type before him carefully for some sign of his feeling but, for the moment at least, his once-role model was inscrutable.

Well at least this giant of a man understood Frost's inscrutable demeanor, so that was something. He looked like he was deflating a bit too, not nearly as hostile. Artemis had laid back down next to the rock, but Luc was still trembling. No surprise there. "I suppose he does," she replied carefully, making sure to avoid anything definite or exact. Details were tricky things. Like his next question of working with him. "No, I don't," she admitted after a brief pause,. It was true - they were in different departments, and she hadn't really worked with him much on raids. The last thing she worked with him specifically was when she'd gone to the outpost the same day it was raided, and it was her day off, so technically she hadn't been working. All these questions of herself were a bit unnerving, however, so she figured it was about time to ask him something instead. Hey, she was nice and answered all of his. "Did he ever tell you why he left?"

Xina corrected tersely, ears flicking back a few more degrees as her expression became more firm. She pointedly refrained from mentioning what stolen pokemon Claire did have. She decided against telling the Espeon that she had opted to join her of her own accord too and never dreamed of putting up any semblance of a struggle. she added, ears declining further. What Claire did didn't bother her too much - she hadn't witnessed much of it first-hand - but regardless of any of that, the agent treated her extremely well, much better than her last owner, and for that she was grateful. In her opinion, Claire was kind and she liked her, and she'd defend her if need be.
