So if the current trend of remaking movies (or making movies from series) that were popular 20 or 30 years ago keeps going, we could be seeing a RD movie around the year 2015. While I never wanted to see anyone else play the original actors, they would obviously be too old by then to reprise their roles. So you who would like (or hate) most to see as the Crew?

I find it so much easier to say who I'd hate, so...
HUGH BLOODY GRANT.
Yes, he's perfectly sweet in British rom-coms, but being a space bum just wouldn't work...
Sorry; I just brought him up thanks to the numerous rumours that he was going to be in it...
Hmmm... who else?
I think you'd have to use British actors. No offence to Americans - I mean, you've got some brilliant actors, look at Johnny Depp - but I just don't think they'd be able to carry off the humour as well as a British cast...
It wouldn't work with megastars either. I mean, if Orlando Bloom for example went anywhere near an RD script I'd kick his arse from here to Titan... no offence to him, but... no! xp
The one thought that scares me though is that they might make a CGI version... you know, a bit like the Final Fantasy movies? That would just be... gonk I mean, it WORKS for Final Fantasy, but RD? Noooooo...

American actors are fine, but NOt for RD. I agree 100%. The subtlety just isn't there. Hugh Grant should also be a no-go. Too, I don't know...cutesy. The actors should 'be' the characters, and any big name star would be a big-name star 'playing' the character. There must be some good actors out there who could pull it off. I just can't yhink of any.

An actor would need to completely fill that role, really make it theirs, which I doubt anyone else could do, because Craig IS Lister. 3nodding

I can "kind of" see Jake Abraham, just because he played the alternate Lister in The Inquisitor, and has the perfect accent. Still wouldn't be the same, though!
Maybe if it takes to long, they could do an animated version, and still keep the same actors for their voices. Not saying I'd ike it, just saying its an option! smile

But you're right, it wouldn't be the same! That's true too. I'd rather have that than have other people playing the characters craply. What they have to remember if they DO make the movie is that they'll have the whole fan-base in their hands. If it's a success, I'll probably end up with a million more join requests than I get at the moment. If they screw it up though, a lot of people will avoid the original series because they don't like the movie, and they'll miss out on a whole goldmine of good comedy.

Or claymation could be fun.

My brother got given the scripts for that series one Christmas, and I've read them about 100 times. I aint seen that series for about 5 years, trying to get my mum to buy me the DVDs of series 5 and onwards for my Bday.

I only saw series 8 once, and it was years ago. What was the claymation part about? I used to have 8 on tape, but I lost the tape when I moved. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD!

I'm not sure I could stomach anyone else playing my beloved Dwarfers. An animated movie with them as the voices...maybe. I would take them just as they are, they could be the future selves that they destroyed way back when. I would take Kryten in a toupe and Lister's head in a jar as long as they were really my wonderful original cast.

It was when they were trying to get out of artificial reality and screwed it up slightly. The Cat went sliding into an igloo and Lister got eaten by a shark, which promptly spat him back out again and was nearly sick. 3nodding OliviaOblivia
