Niflhel had gotten the letter not long before Polaris called him. He was still reading it and paused when he picked up his cell phone. "Yeah?" It seemed the senshi was interested in going up to space and helping the Civilians. At first, he was going to tag along; at least until he found out just how many others were going. Niflhel frowned, "Do be careful, I'm going to say back here. We can't all be in space." He said with a nod and afterwards left her to go up to space on her own. It wasn't really easy he couldn't just contact her any time he wanted to. The Squire would often patrol alone and check for messages from the senshi. Expecting her back at any time, obviously they'd figure out how to get the civilians down from space right?
Days seemed to fade into one another and as Niflhel patrolled he found himself checking his phone more often. The knight didn't like not knowing what was going on but he had promised Polaris he was going to stay on earth, to protect the people of Density. As the days drifted slowly by the knight of Saturn was getting more and more antsy. The occasional spot of trouble happened but without a word he was going to go nuts waiting to hear.
His grams still wasn't home, and wasn't expected back for another few weeks. So left to his own vices he soon found himself looking for things to do, and places to eat by day and night. Granted what seemed like an eternity ended up only being three days later, Niflhel ran into a youma on his nightly patrol. Having been distracted by hoping that the message on his phone was from Polaris he didn't even notice it sneak up.
The sneaky little b*****d looked very much like a mole. Beady little eyes, small pink nose and whiskers, to Niflhel it was the ugliest little thing he'd ever met. The bad part about fighting a mole youma, was that they could dig underground and surprise you. Which is what Niflhel found out the hard way, after having roped the monster with his chain and getting close to what he thought was a victory the youma took off digging its way down into the ground dragging the squire and his chain with it. "Oof!" Niflhel felt his face meet the dirt; he barely avoided actually eating any of that.
The Knight himself was too big to follow in the hole the Youma made, but at the same time, if he wasn't careful he was going to let it get away. At least this was the thought in the back of his mind as he felt the chain tighten and then suddenly there was give. He tried to stand up so he could pull the little beast back out of the ground, only to his dismay find that the Chain had caught on... something.
With his feet spread and pulling on the chain as hard as he could he suddenly felt bits of dirt and rock hit his shoes. The Squire paused in the middle of what he was doing to look down. The Mole had dug a hole around him and there wasn't but a small patch of land that he was standing on. Which much to his shock was holding fairly decent, that is until he lunged to grab the mole by its neck. The ground caved in and took the Squire and mole with him. Niflhel was extremely unhappy; however it seemed that the mole had dusted itself on accident... The Squire frowned and looked around; no one had seen that right? It was embarrassing to get caught and shown up by a mole. Even if it did end up dusted due to the collapsing of ground.
Niflhel hoisted himself up and looked around before cleaning the dirt from his uniform. He frowned, "I can't tell anyone that actually happened." He sighed wishing he hadn't moved for the mole before moving out of the trap, maybe he could've still beat the thing without having the ground collapse.
Niflhel decided if that's the way the night was going to be he was going to call it an early day and go to bed. Things couldn't possibly get any worse!
