Muka was over the moon. He was absolutely, positively thrilled. The strix had barely been in his dorm room a minute, enough time to put his belongings on the floor, before he was bursting out of the large windows of his room and into the cool air. His skull pin, given to him upon admittance to school, remained behind on the desk in his dorm. He was going to enjoy being himself and being free from home for as long as the entertainment value lasted.
He was a giant owl, as tall as he was as a boil, with tan-grey-gold mottled coloring. His sharp eyes scanned the ground and watched the numerous students milling about. he longed so much to meet every single one of them but right now was his moment. After a few loops of the monster dorms he found a weathervane on the roof and landed lightly on top of it. He loved the view from up here!
The strix had not bothered to look around on the roof. He didn't expect many others to come here and it didn't even dawn on him that quite a few of the other monsters would be fliers...

But there was another on the roof that night.
Tahki wasn't one for fancy flying and showing off. She'd been as discrete as she could when she decided to fly up to the roof. And for the most part, Tahki had been. Flying under others radars seemed to be an almost gift of hers.
That was until something else landed on the roof. Something... The gryphon clasped on to her headphones and sunk down in to her shoulders. Of course there were other flying students. Maybe this spot had been a bad idea. Tahkis tail swished in annoyance.
That was... Until she saw a giant owl. For a small moment she thought maybe she knew this owl? Maybe. Was it.. What was.. nah it couldn't be? Tahki got up and folded her arms behind her back to get a better look.
"Its been a long time... uh.." Then she noticed it was not who she thought it might be. Julian didn't have owl horns... His head was perfectly round. This owl was a different owl. But it was to late to back out of the conversation she'd started.
Even so, Tahki stood there like a deer in headlights.

He may have had his back to her but it didn't stop him for looking. Muka's head turned slowly on his body to look at the ghoul behind him. His eyes were brilliant gold with vertical pupils (strange for an owl) and his beak was more jagged than it would be on a normal owl.
"Whooo?" His voice sounded screechy and then suddenly, as if he'd told a hilarious joke, he burst into a rasping high pitched laugh. "Get it? Whooo? OWL?" His body turned to match up with his head finally, clawed feet readjusting on the weathervane.
For a moment he paused, just staring at her and then the eyes closed and there was a sound like bones popping, shifting and muscles straining. The large owl's head seemed to shrink into a boil's with fluffy tan and brown hair and a large cheshire smile, then his arms (not at the same time) emerged from the mass of body, and then a torso seemed to appear in place of the feathered mass. His legs were still awkwardly birdlike. He was wearing a cream colored button up shirt that seemed to have some rather expensive looking cuff links on the sleeves.
"Hee.." His jagged grin grew. "I'm not good at that yet.." His arms were held close to the body, like someone who was not used to having arms at all, and his large wings rustled into place on his back. "Hello!"
He shook one leg. Shook it again. Nothing. Apparently he was still trying to shift all the way.
"Have we met?" He tilted his head to the side. "I'm Ulmuka."

It was almost like a horror movie as the owl creatures head slowly turned. Needless to say, Tahki was a little frightened at first by this avian creature. Its eyes. To be fair. Tahki was a jumpy sort to begin with usually. But she was getting a little better with her timid shyness. A little.
The creature spoke, or hooted. Or she thought it was hooting until the creature spoke and began to awkwardly shift in to a student? Tahki just stood there the entire time with her jaw hanging open a little unsure if she should be concerned or what. The monster just watched with her own glowing golden eyes. The whole time she clutched to her headphones out of habit.
Words still would not form completely after the transformation and after the greeting. Tahki just stared. Then she shook her head trying to forget the awkward transformation and trying to focus at the matter at hand.
"T-Tahki. Pleasure." Quite honestly. She wasn't sure if this was a pleasure yet or not.
"Your shifting.. umm .. ." Was she really about to question his shifting? No. Tahki chickened out, so to speak, and decided to avoid the topic all together. "Good job." Finally came out of her mouth accompanied by a determined to be nice yet awkward nod.

"The pleasure is mine Tahki!" Muka shook his leg one more time and with another snapping bone noise his right leg turned into a slender man leg in very nice cream colored trousers with golden pinstripes. His taloned foot was now just a normal foot clad in a white, pointy dress shoe.
His other leg was still an owl's.
He hobbled, giggling a bit as he walked towards her. He was a gentleman, of course, his father would never forgive him if he didn't extend the proper manners, and he quickly (somehow) removed her hand, brushed his mouth across the back (dangerously close to those teeth) and released her once more.
"I'm new at this school." His head bobbed a bit as he looked around. Apparently it didn't dawn on him that snatching a ghoul's hand may not be what the ghoul wants. "I just got here today."
There was another painful cracking noise. Oh hey look: two normal legs!

The gryphon couldn't help but watch as Ulmuka's leg shifted and the other stayed the same. It looked almost awkwardly funny. But Tahki hid the amusement from her face and didn't dare laugh at the boil. The hobbling was making it a tad hard though. Part of her wanted to ask if he needed any assistance but another part of her felt that might insult him. So she kept that bit to her self.
But then he took her hand, which shocked her, and even brushed it dangerously close to those sharp teeth.
"D-DONT BITE!" Tahki managed in a terrified tiny gasp. But Ulmuka had released her hand and Tahki found her breathing return to normal.
"So your new? Its.. nice here," The gryphon was carrying on like she had not just had a small mini moment of terror. Maybe Ulmuka hadn't noticed? "I'm actually on my second year here."
The gryphon flexed her wings before letting them gently, and gracefully, fold behind her. The cracking noise made her jump though, and fall over. "W-what was that!?"

Muka should have looked sorry but his grin remained constant. "I wouldn't bite you." He chuckled. "Why would I bite another student? Unless you are tasty?" He leaned in. "Are you tasty?" He then burst into another round of laughter.
He looked down at his arms and looked suddenly surprised by them. He stretched them experimentally (simultaneouly the wing on each side would also extend slightly) and then dropped them to his sides. He definitely wasn't used to spending large amounts of time as a humanoid but without his pin visible, it was obvious that his natural shifting ability was only half perfected.
"I must admitted I'm very excited." He enjoyed the view from the roof for the moment. "I've been here as a guest. Once at the Open House and also for Floresctival! HOW EXHILIRATING." There was a fearados attack and everything!
"My shifting is..." he giggled. "SHIFTY."

"Im. Im . I m not tasty I assure you.. Uh... Mm.. Not good..." Tahki took a step back as she waved her hands trying to make her point best she could to this owl creature. "R-Really. Not tasty." She gave a smile, but it was forced. Tahki seemed to forget for a moment she was a huge monster her self of the avians of prey family.
She went on to listen to Muka confess his excitement. This got a real none nervous smile from the ghoul.
"Well shifting is.. I do prefer my natural form... But you get used to it? I have to admit though I ve never .. Um.. Seen one transform like you." Was that how it was supposed to go? But now that she thought about it.. She didn't recall watching many students shift back and forth. Usually she met up one way or the other. Most students stayed in a humaniod form for the most part.
Tahki was starting to get used to being a two legger.

"I'm a strix." Ulmuka seemed to be very to the point when he spoke. "Are there no other strix here? OH HOW EXCITING." He hadn't thought about whether there would be any other of his species until this moment. "I am not very surprised though. The only other strix I know is my mother." This made him giggled for some reason, though when he laugh air hissed creepily through his teeth.
"What are you?" He tilted his head and looked her over. "Lovely wings.. claw feet.." His head drifted around to see if she had a tail. "No idea." He giggled again but probably because he hadn't planned on guessing.

A strix?
"I've never heard of that before," She didn't have the heart to tell Muka that there was another owl on campus. Maybe he'd find that out him self. But it was true, she'd never encountered a strix, let alone heard of one before.
Tahkis tail swished nervously when she was asked what she was.
"Nothing as cool as you. Uh.. I'm a gryphon. Arctic gryphon if you want to get technical. "
There was nothing more to say then that. Tahki could have easily described more but her nerves got the best of her. She felt... intimidated a bit. To be fair, most others students had this effect on her. The gryphon took a breath and stepped closer to Muka to get a better look at him. Not to much closer though.
"Yeah. I've never seen one of you before..." Her tone was a little more at ease but it was apparent that she was still nervous.

"Well good then! I'm an original!" Muka giggled a bit but not as boisterously as before. He paced to the edge of the roof and looked down, his head bobbing and tilting on his shoulders like a bird. There was a strange clacking noise and Tahki may have figured out soon that it was his teeth being chomped over and over quickly. It was as if he wasn't aware that he didn't currently have a beak.
"I'm sorry if I'm strange." he was very blunt about it. "I don't think I am strange but I am told.. hmmm unnerving is the word my father uses? Be normal he says. get a ghoulfriend he says." Muka stretched his taloned fingers. "I don't even know what he means by that!!" The strix cackled again, thoroughly amused.
"You are the first gryphon I have met!" He was thrilled by that. "I mostly have only met demons. This is my first time being independent from home."

"Your father sounds.. errr.. Interesting?" It came out more as a question then a proper answer. Tahki wasn't sure what to say to that. It didn't sound like Muka and his father had any sort of disagreeing past. It sounded like his father was demanding though, sort of like her own parents.
Tahki shuttered remembering her own mother assuming Charlie was her boilfriend all because he was a demon. If only she knew how dirt poor that kid really was. Tahki didnt have the heart to tell her THAT part, but she did several times correct her mother on the fact Charlie was not her boilfriend.
Several times.
"Being strange isn't so bad. Uhh really? There's another gryphon here too." She gave him a friendly nod, "But to be honest I hadn't met many gryphons out side of my family since going to this school either."
She examined Muka for a bit.
"So. Uh. Well. Um. " The question what are you doing on the roof any how wasn't forming right. IT seemed so invasive to ask.

"My father is a demon. He has loads of kids." He was still grinning. Did he ever stop? Did he ever blink?! "But I'm the only monster. It's okay by me though." Not okay by dad but Muka didn't seem to mind at all.
"More gryphons? Are they white too? Do they also come up to the roof?" He tilted his head. "I didn't expect to see anyone up here. But I love company." Did his grin get bigger? Was that even possible?"
Muka didn't feel awkward or strange but he knew from proper manners that it was always nice to offer a ghoul a seat. From his precarious edge of the roof he shifted his legs to sit down on the edge. His fancy pointy shoes were then swung and he watched them. His head turned to look at her at a strange angle.
"Would you like to sit? Not that you need permission." He hiss-giggled again. "You have more claim to this roof than I!"

The fact that Muka had a lot of siblings surprised Tahki some. Only child syndrome sort of did that. It was always shocking to her to learn that others had brothers and sisters even if they were only half.
"OH. Ummm.. N-noo. I'm afraid I'm the only white gryphon I know of here. He's a pretty tan color though?" Tahki tilted her head at Muka when he offered her a seat. Of course, Tahki knew it was proper manners to never refuse a seat if it was offered. So the gryphon nervously took a seat beside the owl monster Strix. Her tail curled closely to her body and her wings were now folded tightly to her back. She was nervous sitting next to this boil.
"More claim? Oh no. I don't think I have more claim." She gave him a confused deer in the head lights look. "I m glad to share though." She gave him a smile and leaned forward a bit, but her gripping on the edge failed and Tahki felt her body falling.
Falling!? SHE WAS FALLING!! ?? Yes Tahki COULD fly, but at the moment she was a bit to shocked to remember this fact.

"Oh I like tan." Obviously. He was tan. At least partly. Muka's head bobbled a bit on his shoulders as he silently watched her. His eyes blinked unevenly as Tahki leaned over the edge slightly.
And then farther.
And then she was off the roof.
"Oh are we flying now?!" His voice raised in an excited screech and he pushed himself off the edge. His wings extended impressively as they were rather large to hold up his body.
She was still falling. "Or.. maybe we aren't flying?" His head bobbed and he circled her. There was a bit of a ways down. He had time to rescue her if need be.
