 The Crown Princess of the Sanc was still shaken from the large fight that had taken place. Her father had once told her of the horrors of war, of fighting beyond simple wrestling. She had never thought it so very horrible until that day. And she feared it would spill over into her little part of the pride more than it already had. After all...she'd opened it to those who wished only for peace, to live without fighting. And to those who needed rest and healing. The golden-eyed lioness sat on the border of the Sanc, near the water, watching out towards the rest of the 'mainland'. Why did creatures think such fighting was necessary? All it would lead to was senseless deaths and pain.
Mah'Rie'Meiah's folk seemed to believe no one on the mainland was innocent. Would they harm the cubs too? Their only 'crime' would be being born to Aristocratic parents. Should they have to suffer, be it through death or the loss of their parents? No...none of this was right!

 The colonist winced as the wound along his side tugged with his movement. The injury hadn't been deep, but it was long and moving the muscles along his side tugged on it. Yet there was no possibility of resting until it healed, he had another who needed him.
Closing his eyes as he paused for a moment, he struggled against the pain in his heart. She had not yet awoken though the battle had not been that long ago, he was getting more and more worried. Not only had she been hurt by an attacker, but she had believed he had betrayed her.. If he was honest, that was the pain that hurt the worst. When she work up (for he could not bare to think 'if), he was scared she would turn away from him, denounce him and go back to her Aristo family and refuse to ever see him again. His heart could not take that, he knew. For it it were to come to pass, he knew he would loose who and what he was. He had barely been able to function in normal society until he had met her.. she had healed him, resurrected his soul from the abyss it had become and returned him to life. Without her.. he did not want to live any more.
Sighing and shaking his thoughts from his mind, he resumed his path, tracking along the water's edge looking for herbs and a meal he could scavenge for his beloved Lady and himself. He didn't see the pale lioness until he was almost upon her, as he rounded a bluff and stepped into view. Instantly he froze. Had he really come so very far that he was on the boarder? Uncertain if he had transgressed but too soul-hurt to think straight, he stood there like a statue, his purple coat and star-studded mane offering no camouflage against the green and blue of the water and grasses about them.

Rerena sighed...and then someone stepped into view. The lioness froze a moment, recognizing the coat as one of Mah'Rie'Meiah's lot...then straightened her back and held her head high. She would not be intimidated.
"If you've come seeking a fight, I won't give you one." She would uphold her family's teachings, no matter what. The only life she would ever take, the only blood she would ever shed, would be that of her prey's. And even that would be as quick and painless a death as she could deliver. "If you've come for peaceful reasons, however, you are welcome." If they sought peace, true peace, then she would not deny them. It wasn't right.

Trathnóna blinked at her words but didn't respond as she may have expected. In truth the tall male looked tired. His coat mottled and patchy from the fight with chunks of fur missing along his flank and the evidence of a half-healed wound that was barely hidden.
Lowering his head at her challenge, he seemed to shrink, making himself seem smaller as best he could for a full grown male. His voice was weary and rough when he spoke, the once pleasant voice deadened. "I am sorry. I did not mean to disturb you..." Taking a backwards step it was clear he was planning to excuse himself and leave, yet it was equally clear that he was in hardly any condition to be wandering about the pride lands when they were almost certainly going to be hostile towards the displaced male.

Rerena shook her head as she looked him over. Meaning harm or not, he wasn't going anywhere in that condition! "Do not worry about it. And you need to be seen by a healer. I'm not much of one...but I know enough to see you don't fall apart before you get to someone with much better skills." She stood and moved towards him, taking inventory of his hurts and which ones she could see to.
She was suddenly VERY thankful every member of the Sanc family was encouraged to learn a trade from their subjects.

Weary, pained violet eyes watched her, neither wary or tense for he simply had no more energy left for such emotions. Her words made him wince and he even looked guilty as she walked up to him. "I cannot... I don't know of any here, and I have to look after her..." He paused then turned his head away to hide the expression on his face. He did not mean to mention her, could not risk anyone finding out about the noble lady who was also his secret lover and the fact that they were hiding out here on the mainland. She was too vulnerable while she slept and he wasn't sure she would ever wake.
He needed to get back to her, but he hadn't found a meal for them yet...
Suddenly his thoughts were lost as his legs gave out under him and he landed heavily in the dirt, his wound throbbing from the impact. Wincing he seemed too surprised to react for a moment. Then he gathered himself and glanced at the female, rose-coloured eyes apologetic. "I.. will not stay long... I just, need to rest a moment..." He knew if he stayed, his moment would become eternity, and then would would care for his beloved Lady?

Rerena made a surprised noise, and felt her worry grow stronger. "Whoever it is you must look after, they are welcome here. You are in no shape to be looking after anyone, yourself included. And I know who here is skilled in healing." She moved to try and help him up. "We'll get you somewhere you can be looked after, and...if you want, I can find this person you say needs looking after." To push himself like this for this person...she didn't think it was Mah'Rie'Meiah he was wanting to look after.

Pale, worn violet eyes watched her as she spoke, a tiny flicker of hope barely visible yet almost instantly consumed with worry. Dare he trust a stranger with his Lady's life? Yet who else could he turn to? He could not go to her family, nor could he seek out his colony... And certainly Mah'Rie'Meiah would sooner slap his Lady than save her.
A tired and weary breath eased from the large male as he lowered his head. He was not a hero, he was no one special.. all he had wanted, at the start of this misguided plot, was to be able to love and wed his beloved Lady and to be able to live in peace with her and their eventual family... Something that was not possible under the current regime.
Opening his eyes as the lioness drew close, he nodded mutely. She was right, he was not doing a good job of protecting his beloved... and for her sake, he would walk through the fires of hell, or the halls of the Aristocracy... which amounted to the same thing.
"Promise you will save her..." He pleaded, far beyond any pride he might once have possessed, willing to beg this stranger for help. Struggling to his paws he could barely remain upright, but with the possibility of a safe place for his Lady, he would do anything.

Rerena couldn't help but be a little jealous of the male. Whoever this female was, he obviously loved her very much. Love...she envied those who found it a bit. She nodded. "I will find her. And like you, she will find the Sanc a place of sanctuary." She would have to get a description of her from him, but she would make sure she was brought to the Sanc safely. Perhaps...she could get Lahr to help. And maybe Lahr's leopard-friend, Saburo. At the moment...she needed to get the male to a den, then get one of those trained for healing in her little kingdom. "Come...let's get you safe so you can be cared for, then you can tell me where I might find this lady of yours so I can bring her here."

For a moment he simply swayed in place, head low as he struggled against the dizziness that plagued him. His own wounds from the battle had never been seen to and the burning from them was becoming a fearsome thing. But he could still understand her words and shook his head, albeit wearily. "I will lead you to her." His voice rasped a little as he finally looked up at her. They would never find his Lady without him to show them. The den he had found was deep and secure, hidden in an ancient thornbush and guarded by even older trees. Only one who knew it was there could find it again, himself having found it entirely by accident in the first place.
Stiffly he paced forwards towards the princess. He would go with her, for he knew he could not bring his Lady on his own, see this healer she spoke of and make sure this kingdom was as safe as she claimed. Only then would he take her to where his beloved rested. He hated being away from her, but he was only a single lion and this was the best option he could find to bring her to safety.
