Name: Jarold Rivera
Nicknames: He doesn't really care about nicknames. It's fine if you want to call him demeaning names, guys. Really. It's not his fault you're angry at what he does. You're just part of the world that can be classified as overly-sensitive and you belong over there in that lonely emo corner.
Age: 26
Birthday: March 31st
Sign: Aries
Blood Type: AB
Fav. Food: Snacks, and basically anything he can get quick. His job is a busy one after all.
Hated Food: He likes eating, and doesn't mind trying out the weirdest stuff. He hates parsley though, and thinks it has the weirdest smell ever.
He also hates eating food on airplanes.
Occupation: Reporter at the 'Daily Destinies'
Hobbies: Writing -- As a reporter, Jarold, of course, dearly loves writing. He doesn't like writing boring stuff like political news; he specializes in gossip columns and juicy tidbits of information. He also used to keep up a blog while in his school days; but abandoned it when work got too busy. These days, he spends his free time on the internet reading; and a small guilty pleasure of his is reading fanfiction. Forget serious fanfics, he laughs at My Immortal. The author may be retarded, but at least it's interesting. (And gives him something to poke fun at; he's looking at you too, Stephenie Meyer) Webcomics are also an interest to him and he's particularly a fan of Least I Could Do, Dr McNinja and Wonderella. The other popular webcomics are okay to him, but he doesn't really get their meanings sometimes because he's not much of a gamer. And some are just too serious for him to stay focused to the story at hand.
Photographer -- An article isn't complete without a incriminating picture after all! While a picture tells a thousand words, it doesn't necessarily tell the whole story, and might not reflect the whole truth. Who cares, as long as it backs up what he has written?
South Park -- Other than reading fanfictions, Jarold likes watching shows that do parodies, especially South Park. His favorite character is Cartman, and loves the episodes that poke fun at celebrities and events. He watches them religiously, and has even become a fan of South Park on Facebook.
iPhone -- Jarold loves his iPhone. He loves the numerous apps. He loves reading his newsfeed, he loves being connected. He likes it that he can tweet from his Iphone, and does that quite a lot. He likes following celebrities and @reply at them even if they don't answer. That's just their way of avoiding him out of guilt because they have probably done something scandalous.
Gemstone: Ruby
Virtues:
Ambitious -- Jarold wants to be the star gossip reporter. And actually, he already thinks of himself as such, and is always eager to find out the latest scoop, the latest hot gossip, and have great headlines. (He believes that he could have done better in telling the story if he had gotten to the Sailor Nea news first.)
There's always success in his mind whenever he writes a column, and sometimes he does umpteenth drafts before he is ready to send his article to the editor, because he always thinks he can write better, or thinks another subject would be better to write about.
Initiative -- When other remain quiet when their teachers called upon a volunteer to answer a question or read an excerpt from a passage, Jarold was the one to raise up his hand and proclaim that he would do it. Granted, his teachers usually were apprehensive about picking him because other times, his hand was raised so as to tattle on his schoolmates, but at least he was one of the few that spoke up. Jarold always took the initiative in projects, in planning parties for friends, in expressing his ideas. He is most definitely not a shy person, and likes striking up conversations even with people he does not know.
Patient -- You always have to be patient while waiting for the perfect subject to crop up to talk about. Jarold has no qualms about abandoning what he was writing about (even if it is at the very last minute) if something new catches his interest; 'Negaverse & Senshi: A Forbidden Romance' is definitely more interesting that writing about the ongoing fights between the two and the strange monsters that keep popping up to destroy the city, Godzilla style. Perfection is key, and being patient contributes to that as well.
Flaws:
Schadenfreude -- D'ja ever clap when a waitress falls and drops a tray of glasses? And ain't it fun to watch figure skaters falling on their asses? Jarold would like to respond with a resounding yes, to the above, please. He takes pleasure in other's pain; talking about how celebrities have gone down the slippery slope into a bad mess amuses him greatly. (Hi Lindsay Lohan, he's looking at you) Jarold doesn't feel bad for being happy at the misfortune of others either; it's a defining trait of humanity, he says, and if people don't approve, why do gossip news get such high readerships?
"Journalistic Code of Ethics"-- Some people would say Jarold is a journalist with no morals. He argues that he does have morals; it's just different from those normal boring journalists. His Code of Ethics include: '1. Anything scandalous/interesting must be reported. 2. Anything boring is not of interest. a. If it can be made interesting, then there is hope.' Jarold doesn't mind that members of the society are critical of him; and concurs that if they weren't so nosy and curious, he wouldn't be able to survive.
(Not really a flaw, but an expansion to this: Rule No. 1 also means that Jarold does not use the information he has to blackmail or threaten anyone. Unless it is to get juicier, more news-worthy information.
He's not doing this for the money; he's doing this for the thrill.)
Not a bird, a plane, or Superman; it's a giant Mickey Mouse breathing fire and determined to rule the world! -- Jarold is a tattletale, and always has been. Right from kindergarten, he was the one who found it his sole duty to raise up his hand and inform the teacher who was eating glue, and they were going to evolve into a glue monster and could only be stopped by throwing a pokeball at them. He likes to blow things way out of proportion, adding his own interesting twist to things.
Physical Description:
Hair: Jarold's hair is a pink-ish red, and ends at his shoulders. Kind of floppy but stylish, and his fringe never goes below his eyes.
Eyes: Grey
Face:
Body:
Fashion: Jarold likes being simple but stylish; with a black vest over a white collared shirt with dress pants.
