A little coffee shop owned by the off island business monger couple, Joe and Mary Smith. Having heard that there was an island somewhere in the middle of nowhere in development, they rushed there and bought a bunch of building and opened various shops that were missing on the island. This is only one of them! Of course, they'll be more then willing to sell it back to anyone with a right prize.... and if whoever decided that they changed their mind and leave the island (or, most likely, die in a horrible death), they'll be more than happy to rebuy it for half the price! This is how they make their money. Until someone take over the ownership of this shop, they'll be happy to run it from the mainland, almost never coming on the island to see how it's going. The employees, NPC or not, are then free to work like always and customers to use their services.

Sammi had found his cigarette's once he had gotten far enough away from the school and all its inhabitants. He hated to be rude to Amanda like that, and he had really meant to stay and talk with the teacher. But he just couldn't handle big crowds, kids or not. He was still trying to calm himself, so he had lit up a cigarette before heading inside the Cafe. Oh good no one but the workers were here. Thank god. Taking a long drag on his cigarette he exhaled the smoke above him before approaching the counter and ordering a large coffee black. He chose a nice spot besides the window after he got his order and sat down to smoke and drink- calm his nerves a bit.

He'd have to apologize to Amanda and explain himself a bit better. Hopefully she would show and he could do that now, if not, well honestly he was late to work as it was. Maybe he would take Amanda up on her offer about walking the kids to school. He didn't need this every morning, not when he was trying to keep a job and save up money for a house. Well that is if this town suited them properly. It seemed to so far, his own quirks aside. But he knew this place wasn't paradise, little quaint town or not. Every place had its oddities. He just wondered what this place had, and how much of it.

Although she understood the desire to escape the school, Amanda was slightly miffed about being walked out on like that. Whatever, she could be polite or not. Gah. She was getting annoyed over nothing. On her walk over from the school she buzzed Tate. Talking to her husband gave her a thrill all the time. He sounded like he was up to something but since he sounded like he was around a bunch of people they talked shortly and she let him go. For now at least. With a smile she took off the sunglasses she had put on during her walk over and put them back in her bag. Pushing the door open she waved at the few NPC's around her and walked up to the counter. Once there she ordered a large black coffee with two percent milk and some sugar. And since she was staying in to drink it they passed it back to her in a large mug. With a smile she walked over to where Sammi had established himself at the table and sat down. Ance sat she placed her bag on the floor and took a large sip of her coffee. With a smile she put it down but kept her hands loosely around it. "That first sip is always the best." With a small smile she sat back in her comfortable seat and crossed her ankles, wondering what Sammi would say next.

The light orange glow from the fire on a match stick lit up Sammi's darker features, a five o clock shadow was visible on his mug. Those orange tinted sunglasses he wore looked even more orange in that momentary light. He lit the end of his second cigarette just as Amanda sat down. She caught him off guard so a look of surprise took over his rough features momentarily. He put out the match, waving it through the air. He smiled to her the cigarette firmly between his teeth. "Sorry about the run off." He said as he adjusted his hat slightly and leaned back in his chair. Yes he was much calmer now, both of his legs stretched underneath the table, one ankle over the other.

"I didn't mean to be rude. Its just.. well like i was trying to say. Big crowds and me don't mix. I was brought up in a close knit family.." Sammi said as he straightened up in his chair and leaned forward putting his elbows on the table, a free hand momentarily taking the cigarette from his mouth before he exhaled the smoke into the air above him. He brought his blue eyes back down to Amanda's peering at her from over the rims of his sunglasses. "..if in you wanted to talk to someone, you didn't shout across no room. You went up and had a nice conversation one on one. Anything more than a small group, and i get.. well.. you saw. So sorry for that Amanda. I'm glad you joined me though. Of course.. if you hadn't come here. I would have been waiting at the school for ya when i picked up Lily, in order to apologize." Sammi said with a smirk.

She wanted to wipe the smirk off his face so intensely Amanda had to resist the urge to comment somehow. Taking a small sip of her coffee she nodded to acknowledge his apology and listened to what he said. "Well I hate to break it to you, but you're going to have to get used to crowds if you want to participate in any festivals with you're daughter. They draw a bit of a crowd at most times. Nothing major since it's a small town, but usually everyone get's together." Taking a small amount of pleasure in the possibility of making the man squirm with the thought of large crowds she hid her smirk behind her coffee cup. As he exhaled smoke tried not to breathe in the smoke since it made her sick. "My husband was brought up in a small family as well, that's why he's so quiet most of the time. And he doesn't really deal with large crowds if he can avoid it but since he's a bartender he's got to deal with it. I grew up in a small family as well. My siblings and grandparents that was it. But I like people so I may be the odd one." With a shrug she took another small sip. "And most likely you would have run into Tate instead of me later today, if I drop off he picks up. Oh, and when you were making you're rather.. hasty.. exit from the school you said something about dogs? I'm assuming you meant the dogs that Brody and Lily were just talking about? We have four at home and as long as it's alright with you she's welcome to play with them." Taking a break from talking, she took another sip of coffee and wished for a brownie she knew her husband was getting for dessert tonight.

The smirk had faded rather quickly by the time Amanda spoke. Sammi leaned back in his chair as he listened to the woman. He raised an eyebrow at her but nothing more, even his gaze was just a calm observant stare. Well, she wasn't all sherry and giggles now was she? Ah..and that's why he enjoyed the one on one with people. She seemed to have a bit of a edge to her, nothing serious, but even after his apology and explanation for leaving so suddenly she still seemed to dwell on it.

Sammi pout out his cigarette and exchanged one drug for another as he took his coffee cup into his hands before leaning back again in his chair. And then she mentioned the dogs, as if she hadn't mentioned them herself. No he had known he heard right. I have four rather active dogs, so we will come see you often most likely. Oh he remembered her words to the tee, panic or not. But you know what he wasn't going to argue. For all he knew this one was just waiting to pick a little fight with a stranger. And who better than the new guy in town? Well.. it would be, if he was a fighter. But he wasn't, by far.

He let a moment of silence pass between them before he decided to continue the conversation. "Yeah, well i suppose ill manage. Might make a trip to a clinic to, maybe they can help with my little quirk. But ah.. as for play dates, its fine by me to be honest. Lily needs friends and she is quiet the social butterfly. I'm not about to stop her from doing so, my issues aside. Sides.. im sure ill adjust as i get to know more people." Sammi said with a smile in his eyes. He took another long sip of his coffee before speaking again. "So, i know we talked about the island. But lets be frank, what is it i should watch out for? Or who? At least in your opinion. If you care to indulge? Or.. has my hasty retreat earlier, set you off enough? Even though i did apologize." Sammi asked gently.

Realizing that she sounded like a complete witch Amanda let go of frustration she had towards the man. She remembered that he had said she was the first person to meet in town and she didn't want to cause a bad impression on her son's new friends father. With a small sigh she leaned forward on the table some and took another small sip and got comfortable in her chair. "First off I'm going to apologize for coming across as a hard a**. That wasn't intentioned and I'm not usually like that. I also have to apologize for speaking like an idiot and forgetting that I had told you about out pups." With a half smile she looked at him and hoped he accepted her apology. "And as long as Lily and Brody get along fine, then it's not problem she play at our home or play with the pups or anything. No problem." Deciding to move on in the conversation she wondered what she should tell him about the unique town and some of it's more interesting inhabitants. With another sip of her coffee to bolster her confidence she figured she may as well share what she knew. "We have some.. unique.. people in town. Not necessarily bad, but some you should probably avoid. To start off, I would watch out for Romane Biss- of wait it's Murrow now. She's the Sheriff, and seriously loony. I avoid her as long as possible. I've never directly dealt with her and hopefully won't have to. Another is Vladimir Tepes. He's a jerk if you can't help him or he has some angle. Apparently he's been doing some therapy but I don't know how much good it's done. He runs the General Store with his brother sometimes." With a shrug she took another sip of coffee and continued. "I'd be aware of the Avery-LeBlanc men - Conor and Keith. They are both.. interesting.. people. I've never had to deal with them personally but have heard some stories from Bela. That last one I would say watch out for is Lotte von der Bach. Her older sister, Freja, is harmless unless you cross her. But Lotte sees herself as an inventor but isn't always successful, her things explode a lot. Just watch out for that.." Going to take another sip of her coffee Amanda noticed her mug was empty and excused herself for a moment to get more. Coming back with another steaming mug she smiled and took another sip. Ahhhhh, perfection.

This one was intriguing, one minute she was pleasant another she had a bit of sass to her, then she went back to being a sweetheart. Maybe she was testing him? Hm. either way he listened to her while he idly sipped at his coffee until it was gone. "Sounds like a interesting bunch. I think i can steer clear of the law, i like to keep myself out of trouble anyways. As for the General store owner's...well that might be harder. Especially when i need supplies. The others i'll be aware of and tread lightly when i meet them. Though.." Sammi said before he smiled and let out a light hearted laugh. "The idea of someone exploding anything, inventor or not seems rather strange, hilarious and dangerous all in one." Sammi said with a smirk. He shifted his position and sat back up, his elbows resting on the table infront of him.

"As for the tough show, or testing of me, whichever that was earlier. Don't mention it. Apology accepted. But.." He said as he adjusted his hat slightly. "I cant help but wonder where that came from." Sammi said with a light grin. He shook his head and waved his hand infront of him in a dismissive manner. "But i wont pry, so dont worry about it." Sammi said honestly and with a smile. He sat back in his chair and stretched for a moment.

"Alright, id say i know a decent amount about you Amanda. What about yourself? Anything else, not to personal mind you, that you want to know about me?"
Sammi asked, it was only fair. He had been letting her talk her head off. And it wasnt that he wasnt willing to share, but she just wasnt asking in the right way.

Testing him? Well s**t. She hadn't meant for that impression to come across. Crap. With a blush she tried to hide behind her coffee cup she took another sip. "Well I certainly hadn't meant to come across as testing you. That seriously wasn't my intention. I get annoyed quick and have a habit of taking it out on people until I realize that I come across as nasty. Sorry again.." Toying with her mug she hoped she hadn't ruined a possible friendship for her son because she was a ditz. With a small sigh she returned to the conversation about the interesting people in town. "Avoiding Romane will probably be easy as long as you don't get in her face about anything. Which I'm sure you can avoid her no problem. And as far as the General Store.. I don't deal with Vlad because we don't get along much. I usually have Dante help me but we have more to talk about. Dante's into drag so we talk shoes a lot. Not that you know much about shoes but still." With a shrug she took another small sip and moved on to the lovely conversation about Lotte. "She's really smart, but she like to test things out on people. Hence the warning and all." With a smile she tucked a loose bit of curls behind her hair. "And I do have a question for you, but I didn't want to pry by asking. What made you pick Nirvani? Out of all places to move to, why here? It's such a tiny town and most people don't even know it exists." Adjusting her seat slightly she leaned forward on the table toying with her mug in order to be comfortable.

Did he make her blush from embarrassment. Oh he hadn't meant to do that at all. It had him shyly smiling himself. Women and men, no matter if they were married or not were always more adorable with a flush of crimson catching their cheeks. Sammi waved his hand dismissively in the air to dismiss the thought and Amanda's previous annoyance, kind of a- i already forgive you, gesture.

He listened to her, well thank God he didn't like getting in people's faces that meant the Sheriff wouldn't be a problem. As for the general store owners that still meant treading lightly one was in it all for himself, the other a woman wrapped in a man's skin. If that didn't spell out awkward for him Sammi didn't know what would. As for the last one Amanda mentioned the.. Lotte she sounded more interesting than dangerous, but it depended on how far this testing went and to what level.

When Amanda asked Sammi about why he had chosen here he didn't have to think long before he started speaking. "Honestly? Cause its just that. A tiny town that most people don't know exist." Sammi said honestly, he shrugged lightly and gestured towards the direction of the school. "Not to mention here i can work on that a bit better." Sammi said honestly. "Of course then there's the reason why i moved all together. Aside from finally having the money to and the heart to move on. I lost my mate 3 years ago." Sammi said with a light frown.

"To a car accident. And i don't see no roads here now do you? Nothing major anyways." Sammi said with a light smile perking up again. He thought of something and started patting his pockets for his wallets. But unlike during his rush earlier he found the thing rather quick this time. He pulled out a small picture that sat behind his own drivers license and handed it to Amanda. It was the same one Lily had of Sammi, her other father and tiny her.

"Name was Jean, it was his idea we adopt little Lily. And after we lost him im glad we did. Without her i- well.. " Sammi frowned lightly before shaking his head. "Ah id rather not dwell on it. I moved here to move on." He added gently. "Of course, moved on or not, it'll be a bit before i look for another potential mate. Plus it just ain't my style to jump into things so quick." Sammi said with a smile. "I also chose this place, cause.. well i'm sure if we stay here long enough, it will almost be like having one big close knit family. And i rather like that idea."

Amanda smiled, "Well it is a good place, even though sometimes you wish you didn't bump into everyone you know around every corner." At Sammi's mention to losing someone dear in a car accident Amanda paled slightly. She knew all too well the pain of losing someone like that. Taking the picture from him her heart broke a little, but she put a smile on her face. They had all looked so happy together, and since he could smile about the memory now then it was ok. In a gesture meant as friendship she put her hand over his for a moment and then patted it. "I'm sorry that you lost someone dear to you. And you are right, very few roads here and very few people have cars here as well. Nothing to much worry about traffic wise, everyone mostly walks."

Handing him back the picture she picked up her mug with both hands and took a long sip. Oh my it was heavenly. At his mention of moving on but not quite being ready to move on to a new man she smiled. "I hope you eventually will regard me as a friend, because I think we'll be friends. Point being, I never try fixing friends up with others. It's just disastrous more often then not. And makes everyone uncomfortable." With another smile some of the color that she had lost earlier returned to her face. It still hurt her to think about losing her parents, and then her grandparents, in car accidents but it wasn't something she often shared. Only Tate and her siblings knew her pain. "And little Lily is adorable, it's obvious that you love her to pieces and I'm glad she was able to help you get through you're pain. Children sometimes are the best ones for helping their parents get over painful things." At his comment at being a close knit family she had to laugh. "Oh I would say we are like a big family here. Sometimes a huge dysfunctional one but still a family."

Amanda's sympathy had Sammi smiling gently. "Thanks, but there's no need to be sorry for it. I mean he'll always hold a special place in my heart. But i cant let myself dwell on it, he'd want me to move on." Sammi said sincerely. "And yeah Lily is my little pumpkin who helped her dear old dad pick himself back up." Sammi said with a ghost of a laugh. "And hey. any family is good, even a dysfunctional one." Sammi said as he pointed out. He leaned back in his chair and folded his hands behind his head.

"As for fixing, dont start getting ahead of me. I can see us being good friends too. But you'll have to let me make a few more before i even think about looking for another sweetheart. And well before i have others hooking me up blindly." Sammi said before he smirked and leaned forward. "Plus i am really picky." Sammi said before he laughed. Shaking his head lightly Sammi looked to the watch on his wrist and frowned lightly. "I hate to say it Amanda but i should probably head over to the Vet office and meet my new boss. Checking in for work might be important." Sammi said with a light chuckle he was in a goodhearted mood, now that the crowd induced panic attack was over with. Sammi stood up, grabbed his empty cup of coffee and looked to Amanda.

"Hate to run on you... again." He said with a smile. "But, how about tomorrow we meet up around here, walk our kids to school? Id say id meet you at your house, but i don't know where you live, and i wouldn't want to intrude just yet. Id say you could meet us at our RV too but i'm sure that's a bit out of your way, right?" Sammi said gently.

At his cheerful attitude she just had to smile. "Oh hun, you have no idea how dysfunctional, but I'm sure you'll pick up on it soon enough." She also had to smile at his cheerful way of saying 'heck no, do not fix me up with anyone' without being rude and how much obvious affection he had for his daughter - she was adorable and apparently her Dad's world. At his smirk she just had to laugh, it would be good to have a new friend for her son as well as a new friend in town for herself. It was quiet without the city excitement and she was glad to meet someone new. When he looked at his watch she managed to look down at her's and had to contain her freak out. Holy flying monkey's she was late! At his slight frown and comment she felt slightly better about the time, "Oh don't you worry for a minute about it. I'm late as can be and I'll have to sneak into the office past my boss so I don't get his famous evil eye today. It's important that you check in with you're boss, mine already knows me well enough that I won't get more then his evil eye. And besides, this time you're not running away we both are late so we both have to run." With a laugh she picked up her bag from the floor as well as her empty coffee mug. "And you're RV is on the edge of the Island correct? Well our house is between the Gym and the Bar. So you most likely have to pass our house on the way to school. We could always meet in front of the Bakery if you wanted? That's somewhat closer then here." Cocking her head to the side she thought about another point that could maybe be closer but the only things nearby their home were the Bar and Gym, like she had mentioned before and somehow that didn't quite strike her as a good suggestion for a place to meet.

"Oh!" Sammi immediately felt bad about making Amanda late. "Sorry i .. lost track of the time. I didn't mean to you make you late too." Sammi said apologetically. "Just blame it on me, yeah?" Sammi said with a smile as he adjusted his sunglasses and thought about what she said. "And yeah it is, the bakery would be doable i saw that on the way here. Lily wants to stop there sometime soon for a few treats. Maybe i can surprise her today with it. Depending on how work goes." Sammi said with a smirk. He shook his head and focused on not drawing out the goodbye any longer that it should be, with them both being late and all. "Anyways, yeah Bakery it is then. Tomorrow in the morning same time?" Sammi said gently before he tipped his at to Amanda. "I'll see you around then Amanda. Nice meeting ya, take care and ill see you and Brody tomorrow morn?" Sammi said gently before he slipped a hand into his pocket and started heading for the door. He opened it up and gestured for Amanda to lead the way out while he held it. "After you." He said with a light smile.

At Sammi's reaction when she told him she was also last Amanda had to smile and waved his comment away. "Don't you worry about it hun. I've been working there for a while. It's you're first day, I should have paid attention to the time as well." At his mention about how Lily wanted something sweet reminded her that Tate was there getting some sweets for tonight. Making sure she had everything she brought in with her she wandered her way towards the door with him. "Bakery sounds good, as a meeting place and my reason to hit the gym more often." With a laugh she walked through the door he held open for her, saying thank you on her way through. "I'll see you bright an early tomorrow mornin' and most likely will bring Tate, my husband, along with me so you can meet him as well. How a good first day Sammi." With one last smile back towards him she walked down the street towards the office.
