Mura was enjoying the clumsy grace her growing legs had given her. The young leopon was already pretty good at climbing trees – not so much with coming back down part though – and she loved exploring the world outside her den. Her boyish side had been tempered quite a bit and the little white cub was becoming increasingly self-conscious of her appearance and actions. Getting her pure white coat dirty had somehow become a Very Serious Matter and the young girl spent countless hours making sure every hair was cleaned and in place.
That was why she was grooming herself in one of the tallest branches of a tree she had just climbed. There was no way she could enjoy the view if she didn’t feel absolutely picture perfect.

Kaveri watched the little creature climb the tree and get dirty. She was beautiful and reminded her of what she would have with Uzi when he returned from his pride about her request to join with him. And stepping from the shadows she jumped up the tree with ease, being silent as she did so.
"How do you plan to get down?" She asked, getting ever closer to the small hybrid just in case she had startled the cub into jumping. "Its a long drop down."

“Eeeeeek!” it was a rather loud and undignified sound but Mura couldn’t help but to be startled when she spotted a large dark blue shape moving up her tree with such ease. Unsure if it was best to go further up to the thinner branches or just stay put, she eventually she picked the latter and dropped her body to the branch.
“Who are you? What are you doing up here?” she asked quickly, completely ignoring the leopardess’ questions. While she believed to be completely clean and presentable – minus a few bristled fur patches - there was a small patch of darker fur on the back of her head but what Mura didn’t see, definitely didn’t bother her.

The startled reaction was quite on the dot there and watching the little cub drop to another branch made her start to go for her, though seeing she was safe put some ease to her mind. Shaking her head she locked her golden orbs on this cub. "I'm Kaveri, I saw you and wanted to make sure you're alright. Some cubs die from climbing to high and falling to their deaths." She pointed out, "I'm just here to help."
Watching the cub she couldn't help but smile. If Uzi and her were going to get serious they could have cubs like this. That is... if he ever returned.
"Where are you parents?" She asked, curious as to why they weren't watching her.

“I’m not supposed to talk to you. You’re a stranger!” Bad strangers didn’t usually go around introducing themselves so the cub settled down a bit. Still, she wasn’t that happy about the sudden scare so she stubbornly refused to introduce herself in return. Looking around from her branch, little Mura could spot her mother not too far away.
“My mom is with my brothers and sisters. We can see her from up here. She's a warrior.” She looked a little angry all of a sudden. “And I’m a really good climber, you know?!” Which was partially true. She didn’t really like the way the leopardess spoke about cubs dying. For a moment, she actually wondered if those words carried a veiled threat and her coat bristled again.

Kaveri chuckled, the cub was right she was a stranger and she shouldn't be talking to her. "I'm not going to hurt you." Now she was being serious, looking down at the family below. "I was just worried for you. I..." She couldn't find the words at that moment because her heart felt sick. Finding her strength she spoke, "I fell in love with this lion, like your mom did. I mean not my lion but she fell in love with her lion and you guys."
God she felt like clawing her face off at the at moment, how did she get so flustered? She could see herself with little cubs, taking care of them and loving them. Sighing she calmed herself, "I'm sure you're a lovely climber." Changing the subject.

Ho-oh…! Now this was something different. This was girl talk. It was big girl talk. Mura felt somewhat proud that the leopardess would speak with her about such things. And she wanted to know more and was certainly willing to do as much prodding as it was necessary in order to get it… after making a little correction.
“My mommy’s a lioness. My daddy is a leopard.” She said very seriously. She had never thought about the possibility the blue leopardess had considered. Not that it made much difference now that she thought about it. Had her mother been a leopardess, the only thing the little leopon believed would change was that she’d been getting some awesome climbing lessons. “So… who is this lion of yours?” She forced herself not to smile but it was pretty obvious she was interested in the subject.

"Oh." She hadn't even bothered to look at the cub's family off yonder and felt dumb. She had completely jumped to her own conclusions about this little leopon's parents thinking the cub was like her own. Then when the little girl asked about her lion, she nearly froze right there, heart thumping. Thinking about Gebhuza made her skin crawl.
That's when she spoke finally, "He's this handsome dark furred lion. He is sweet, he has his secrets but I'll eventually pry them out of him, and well... he feels like my match." Still her heart was thumping and then she blurted, "I want little cubs just like you with him." Why did she say that?

There was only one way to describe Mura’s expression at the leopardess’ little outburst: naughty. There was such an amount of mischief and amusement in it that it would be impossible not to notice just how much the little girl was enjoying herself at that moment. And if you still weren’t able to see it, her words were quick to offer additional clues to her state of mind.
“Heh… he got you gooood. So, what is this lion of yours like?” Oh yes, Mura was enjoying herself very very much. “I’m Mura, by the way.” She added, as if to further encourage juicy details.

Oh terrible, terrible Mura. How could a small cub like her get so much out of an old girl like her she didn't know. "He's amazing. But I really don't know much about him." Kaveri sighed, trying to keep her mouth shut and keep the damage minimal. "I know I love him though. That's what I know for sure."
Maybe she should change subjects, swing it to the cubs family. Which is what she did, "Let's talk about your family. Your mother's a lioness and your father is a leopard. How do they get along?"

Apart from one lion that had asked her WHAT she was, Mura had never felt particularly worried about being a leopon. She wasn’t even aware than most hybrids were infertile. And still, knowing that there were people like Kaveri who really didn’t seem to mind creating more of her kind did make her feel a strange kind of warmth.
“You should know more about him!! Is he mute?!” she actually spoke with some concern, wondering if perhaps her new friend was being tricked by a dodgy fellow or if she was the type that fell in love with a glance. “My dad doesn’t live with us. He’s is very… loving.” Which was Mura’s way of saying she had more half brothers than it should be allowed. She said with a little smirk as if it amused her but sometimes she did wonder what it would be like to have her family all together. “If you show me how you get down from a tree, I can introduce you to my mom. I’m still learning...”

Mura really wanted to know everything about Kaveri's lion and she knew it was mostly because she blurted out information about him. She had been scared that she'd be alone. Mura was right though, she should know more about him but she had only spent one night with him.
Ears going back she looked at the little one, "I don't know much more about him. I know he's not a mute. He has a way with words." She looked over the horizon, "I think he's coming home though. I have a feeling. But I will know more about him."
The fact that she told her about father, she found it interesting. He liked a large family. Uzi didn't seem like the type to get close to others and definitely not to bed them, though she would be an exception to that rule.
"Let's get down carefully." She stated as she carefully moved down the limb to the neck of the tree, "Slowly, you make your way down each branch. Feel the branch under your paw, if it feels flimsy don't step on it or it'd break under your weight. Though, most of these won't under your weight since you're so small."
She dropped down and landed perfectly. If it worked for the cub, then awesome. It was her way of getting down. "I need to go. I have a feeling he's close." She smiled at the young cub, "Its nice to meet you Mura. Maybe I'll see you when you get older."

“Okay… thanks for showing me that.” It would very difficult not to notice Mura disappointment now that her chance at having some fun Big Girl Talk was walking away. She wanted to know more about the dark lion and understand her story a little better but it seemed like that wouldn’t really be possible. She didn’t try to come from the tree because she was afraid she might make a mistake and make a fool out of herself – she’d rather not have an audience for that – but she did watch the leopardess’ technique very carefully and hopefully she’d be able to replicate it… and then show it off in front of her siblings. “Good luck!” - FIN -
