Camelot hadn't patrolled this area before, though he told himself it was important to stretch his patrols out. Particularly now, after things had gotten so crazy. His desire to protect was stronger than ever, and the only way to really feel like he was making a difference was to check everywhere he could for absolutely any danger he could.

It meant being out later, moving farther and faster, but he would balance his patrol again as he had done last time, and learn to live with it. A routine was a comfort, even when it was a strenuous routine.

He liked having order. Knowing what he was doing and being in charge of his decisions to do so.

Of course, he could have put a little more thought into this particular decision. He had come out to this area on the outskirts of town with the idea that it was out of the way, and a good place for trouble to go unnoticed. It was a nice theory, and he would look around as much as he could, but now he was beginning to worry about something else.

How was he going to get back home? He had no idea where he was.

Apparently the universe was out to make Camelot wish he'd stayed home entirely tonight, at least based on the two motorcycles that came thundering down the street like dragons, the roar of their engines at a bone rattling pitch. They were going well above the speed limit, and came to a squealing stop a little distance ahead, one slightly ahead of the other, which was followed by conversation muffled by helmets, a bit of pointing, and finally, an exchange of bills.

The man in orange and black riding leathers gave the other a firm pat on the shoulder, letting his hand rest there in some sort of gesture of manly camaraderie... which might have been slightly more touching if, the closer Camelot got, the more clear the vibe of Chaos became, and it stayed while the other rider, looking a bit more... wobbly... pulled away and started to drive off.

The Rider in black orange turned his attention back toward Camelot, raising his visor and turning an cold green stare on the approaching knight.

Camelot watched the scene as he walked in the shadows, trying to stay out of sight of the civilians. Or, he had assumed they were. Something about the motorcycles had tripped a wire in his brain as they roared by, and he followed them.

Watching, he saw the two exchange money, then watched as the scene shifted into something even less reputable then illegal street racing. That feeling he had gotten was chaos, and he felt it sharply now.

A Negaverse Lieutenant.

"Hey!"

The Squire moved quicker, into the street, running toward the two. The civilian had already driven off, looking like he was about to crash into things. Or one thing, as that was all it took. Camelot couldn't help him, though, instead focusing on the Nega.

"Tricking people into races huh? Stealing their money and their energy. That's the second time I've seen one of you stealing money. Don't you Negaverse people have jobs?"

"If he didn't want to lose twenty bucks, he shouldn't have made the bet, Lancelot." The voice was lost within the helmet, but at least as cold and dismissive as the eyes, and the motorcycle underscored the words with an hungry growl.

"You know what they say about running with the big dogs..."

He could have easily driven away, but he made a show of lifting a hand to wave the twenty and then slip it into his uniform.

"Are you seriously so ******** stupid you don't think this stuff happens every goddamn other night with or without me? What the hell rock do you idiots crawl out from under?"

In this case, he was betting it was a plaster one in the museum, since this guy seemed pretty much literally convinced, at least based on the costume... that he was a knight in shining armor.

"Hell..." He lifted the helmet to give Camelot the benefit of a full, unimpressed stare, and a smirk that would have done Dahlia proud. "If you'd prefer such low brow activities NOT occur on your streets, Lance, I could kill 'em. But that's no fun for anyone."

Collecting sips of energy at the legal track from the drunks was fine and good, but the one on one street races... those were the intoxicating speeds he remembered and loved, and everyone went away happy. Happy and tired, but nothing he wouldn't sleep off.

He threw up a hand in show as Camelot's charge got closer, tossing out... something. Maybe the size of a thumb nail they glittered somewhat dully in the street lamps... and then clinked onto the pavement in a random spray, bouncing and clinking until they came to a stop... and that seemed to be actually about all they did, mercifully not revealing themselves as a more powerful weapon, or something that did something really unpleasant, like explode.

"Camelot," the Squire amended pointedly, not that he really expected the other to know his name in advance. He was used to the jokes he got, though this was the first person to make a Lancelot joke. Usually it was Arthur or the Knights of the Round.

"I know how it works," he said, standing as patiently as he knew how. He had to practice it every day, with every encounter, but he noticed that he was getting better with it.

"I don't care about your betting or your race," he said evenly, though his hands were gripping his shield a little tighter. This guy had a bad attitude, which meant to Camelot that he might be short of temper. That fact would lend itself much easier to an attack and a fight Camelot didn't really want, so he had to be prepared.

He didn't notice what the little things the Nega had thrown were until he was almost stepping on them. His foot hesitated in the air, then he moved to put it down next to the nearest one instead of on top of it. Never good to take unnecessary risks, right? He didn't know what they were, though they looked like simple toys.

"I don't want to fight you," a preface that often always led to a fight, "I can't let you hurt people. That man could get into an accident, since you opted not just to take his money, but his energy as well."
