Maeve has always led quite a lonely life; in fact, the only reprieve from this loneliness had been when she was raising children with a vixen that she hadn't known prior to their conception. Even now, ready to join a potential tribe, Maeve didn't feel as though she really knew anyone. Perhaps she was merely going through a phase; one that just happened to bring her the vixen here.
After wandering for a day away from her tribe lands, Maeve found herself at the ocean for the first time in her life. The vixen, though well-travelled, typically stuck to forests or mountainous regions. Maeve was glad she had made this journey, though. It was a nice day for a beach, the sun and sand hot, the water cool, and the tropical fish beautiful. She was half-tempted to eat one, but thought against it, having heard they could be poisonous. Instead she caught a nearby, low-flying seagull and ate that.
Now full, Maeve returned to exploring the beach. It was almost sunset when she began climbing the rocky cliffs that jutted out into the ocean. She reached the top easily enough and walked to the end of the cliff, looking out into the sea. In the diminishing sunlight she could just make out the silhouettes of distant islands. She had heard a tribe lived on them, but they they could be on any islands. Curling up on the ground with the view in front of her, Maeve wondered why there weren't more foxes around.

It was from the expanding shadows that Luce watched her. Her bright aqua eyes seeming to glow in the dark. That stranger. Would she stay long? That would be bothersome. Lucinda was particular about where she chose to travel, not many places had the calm and quiet she craved. And in some cases someone was far too close for comfort. It wasn't that she was anti-social, it was just that in many cases others were too loud and energetic for her taste.
Padding up beside the stranger, she sat not far behind her. " Are you going to remain here much longer?" She said, wanting to get straight to the point.

Maeve turned around at the sound of someone's approach. It was a purple vixen who sat down nearby. She had the most interesting pelt, it was almost entrancing, but Maeve stopped staring at the fox's question. Looking back up at the vixen, she nodded. A straightforward question warranted an equally straightforward and honest response.
"I had actually intended to remain here for the night," Maeve said. "However, please don't allow my presence to stop you from enjoying yourself. I will not bother you, if that is what you wish." She turned back to face the ocean and rested her head upon her paws. Some company would be nice for Maeve, since she'd been alone for so long. She also didn't want to displace this other vixen simply by being there. Having no way of actually predicting the other girl's movements, though, she simply waited as she stared out at the waves.

Lucinda eyed the vixen. Interesting. She wasn't all 'Bouncy, bouncy, yay, yay, yay!'. Unless she had some sort of split-personality. Not likely, she decided. "Are you hyper? Our loud? Or anything like that?" She quizzed.
She moved closer to the stranger, sitting next to but out of her personal space. She did try to socialise and make friends, she just wasn't exactly willing to run up and hug a stranger. " So long as you aren't any of those things you won't bother me at all" She stated, following the vixen's glance towards the sea. " Lovely, isn't it? Do you come here often?" Luce mused, at least making some effort to make conversation. ((colour change, cuz i can. Muhahaha!))

Maeve smiled at the questions and shook her head. "I am neither of those things, nor their synonyms," she replied. "And I'm quite glad you aren't either. Good to know that we won't be a bother to each other, then." Now Maeve was sure she was comfortable with the present situation. "It certainly is beautiful," she continued, taking her eyes off the view for only a moment to glance at the other vixen. "However, this is the first time I've been here. First time by any ocean at all, in fact." Maeve knew that was probably a little odd, especially for a fox that typically traveled a lot. "And yourself?"

Luce sighed. Not in an exasperated way, more like an expression of being at peace. " Never here, but i have visted many others. I enjoy their tranquility, their harmony. Though they can be quite chaotic at times." She chuckled.
So far, so good. The starnger's presence was enjoyable for the moment. The starnger. Lucinda found the title distasteful. " Do you mind telling me your name?" All creatures deserved a name, without one they would be no different from the rocks or plants that were nearby.

"Chaotic, hm? Sounds like I came at just the right moment," Maeve said. "Although it does make me wonder what it must look like when there is a storm; it could be fun to watch." She shrugged, perhaps she'd stick around a while until she found out.
Maeve glanced at the other vixen at her question, realizing that they hadn't actually introduced each other yet. "Oh yes, of course. I'm Maeve. I apologize for not saying so earlier." She offered her a polite smile.

Luce raised an eyebrow "Mmh? I suppose. After all, you cannot have peace without discord." She mused. Perhaps it would be fun to watch such a thing. " Maybe if we're lucky we could catch one tonight, that is, if you don't protest my company?" She turned the statement into a question. Well, well, look at her. Asking to spend time with another. Guess there was a first time for everything.
She gave a small laugh "Ha! Please don't be, after all i still have not given mine." She smiled "It's Lucinda, by the way."

"I live by sayings such as those," Maeve replied, smiling at the phrase Lucinda had used. She turned her head slightly to examine the other vixen, and then shook her head. "Of course, I would not object to your company at all. Hopefully, then, we do find a storm tonight. One that's not so near to us, though. An observable distance is the best place for a storm to be, in my opinion."
Maeve tilted her head slightly at the name. "Lucinda. It suits you rather well, I think. It's very nice to officially meet you, Lucinda." She nodded her head politely. "Mind telling me a little about yourself, as we await this potential storm?"

Luce chuckled at the mental image of them both being trapped in a storm. "That would certainly be exciting."
"Thank you, i believe it means 'light'. Have you any idea what your name means?" She inquired. Her eyes fluttered slightly in a startled way when Maeve asked her about herself. So, this was something she had not expected, but an apropriate thing to ask considering the circumstances.
"Not at all. Let's see...I had a loving family, though my partents died when i was quite young, so i was raised by my grandmother. She raised me to be a proper lady and such." While her tone had been perfectly emotionless, she chuckled at the memory of her bizzare relative. "She was quite the pessimist, guess i got that from her. She died when i had just reached adulthood. Other than that my life has been fairly uneventful. But i don't mind, tranquility is enjoyable."
"And yourself?"

"Light? That's nice. Certainly nicer than what my names means," Maeve replied. "My mother always said that it meant intoxicating." She was glad Lucinda didn't mind the forwardness of her question. They didn't know each other well, after all, and the other vixen had every right to refuse to answer. But she didn't, and for that Maeve was happy.
Maeve listened in quiet interest until it was her turn to talk. "Oh, well I suppose my life was a bit opposite, in that it was a little more eventful after I grew up," she began. "Although neither of my parents are alive now, they were able to raise me until adulthood. It was a normal life, in my opinion. Soon after becoming an adult I... Well, I don't know what really happened, but... I had kits with an unfamiliar vixen. We raised them together until they were adults, and then parted ways. I see my son often enough, but I haven't seen their other mother or my daughter in a while..."
Maeve trailed off. She often worried for her daughter, who she hadn't heard from or seen since the two were kits. She knew Terra hadn't heard from her, either, and it was all very troubling.

"Depends on your point of veiw." Lucinda had witnessed the revelries of several intoxicated foxes and some humans too. They seemed to enjoy themselves...and then a few of them threw up or passed out. Strange.
Luce was at a bit of a loss at how to react. She didn't quite grasp how one ought to act in certain social situations. A problem that came with being solitary for long periods of time."Oh...um, i am sorry to hear that..." She paused, trying to figure out how to make the situation lighter. "You must miss your daughter dearly..and the vixen too?." She turned the last part of her sencence into a question, giving Maeve a sidelong glance.
Not exactly cheerful. But at least she was attempting empathy...and suceeding? Kinda?

Maeve expected that Lucinda would be at a bit of a loss for words suddenly hearing something like this. There really was no correct reaction for that situation. "I do indeed miss my daughter; Lela was her name," Maeve said with a nod. "Though I honestly don't think about their other mother, Terra, much. It is kind of strange to think that raising kits together didn't form some sort of a stronger bond between us but... Oh well." Admittedly, at the time Maeve had been too worried over raising the children to think about any sort of romance that could have blossomed between her and the other girl.
"Last I heard she had another set of kits with a fox she also didn't know too well. One of them lives in the same tribe as our son; I guess they know each other pretty well." Maeve shrugged again. It was hard keeping up with her ever-growing extended family. "I apologize for talking so much, I realize this may not be the most interesting subject."
