His owner had let him out. Not that the man had had a choice, he was the Beta in this little pack of his. Though Erebus let him believe sometimes that he was the Alpha, just to get what he wanted out of their relationship. The mokai sat on guard outside, watching everyone with his golden orbs, for a few moments before deciding to explore the settlement. His owner would never suspect he'd be gone at all. Troublemaker. The white male grinned and held his tail high in a show of dominance.
Passing other Erebus shot them evil glances, culls. Disgusting. That's when he slammed into another mokai, dark fur. "Hey bud, watch it." He snarled, lips drawing back to show teeth. "Walking here." Already he noticed something about this Mokai that was different from those here in the settlement. This dark furred beast had no collar. Feral. Now he hunkered down, snarling louder, tail raised for a fight.

Why he had come back? Well, that was a damn good question-- one that he was beating himself up over. His companion, Reisx, had sprang him loose from the god awful prison which those two-legged fiends had constructed and yet there he was; cautiously prowling the streets. There were countless other Mokai's who also sought to escape from this 'suburgatory' lifestyle-- Mokai's whose natural instincts longed for a life that was undefined, predetermined, and free of a structured regiment. Cellen himself felt like a ringleader in the grand scheme of things-- almost as if he was a mysterious figure bringing about lost souls from captivity and leading them toward a paradise of no rules, no responsibility, and no regret.
The cogs of his mind were rummaging through a plethora of ideas and potential concepts until something collided into him. The sudden interruption caused the guard hairs along his neck to bristle, keen orbs of ocher snapped in attention as they narrowed toward the individual. Another male, a fighter to be exact.
Just damn-tastic.
Cellen's eyes flickered protectively as his posture became taunt, unwavering. The other males greeting was all but replicated as a snarl thrummed from his chest. His lips pulled away from his gums as they bore a stark white warning. "Make so much as another noise, pup, and I will tear your damn throat out," he cautioned. The large feral's tongue pressed against his bared teeth, nostrils flaring.
The white males posture was assertive to the point that it was painting a vivid target upon him although, admittedly, there was a sliver which seemed to intrigue him. Cellen remained steadfast in place as he began to dwell upon the situation at hand with.
"Are you trying to get your a** kicked or are you somewhat attempting to compensate for the retained testicles of yours which have yet to drop?"

Erebus eyed the new male cautiously, he had the brains not to attack until he new his enemy. To go in without studying this new challenger could get him injured or worse, killed. No need to rush in headlong no matter what this feral barked at him. However, that didn't mean he let his guard down.
"Pup?" He snarled out, the rumble vibrating through him, "I think you should look at yourself. I'd like to see you try and get close to me, whelp."
Another sting but he didn't bother with it, deflecting it without so much as a blink. "We've degraded ourselves to name calling. How childish. As adults we should be more civilized don't you think?"
Still the white brute didn't back up or step forward, no he moved sideways a step, careful to not let his underside of his neck be exposed. Already he could sense the other Mokai watching them, eyes boring into him. Just like the fights he reminded himself, don't get distracted.

A rouse of laughter escaped from out of his maw. "Whelp? Well ********. Let's see you get into the damn ring and we'll see whose a whelp after you've gone through a few matches!" His eyes sedated to a rather half lidded state while the scar that ran across his right eye etched the testament to his statement. The similar fighters mentality caused his feral instincts to swell inside of him, bombarding his veins with a rush of adrenaline that could spark to the beginnings of a brawl.
But that was unnecessary.
Had he stayed within the confines of the compound he would have simply become another mindless, bloodshed-lusting, fiend whose thrill was only to main and render their opponent asunder. There were two sides to the fighting industry; the ringside fights and the pit fights. And Akoya above, anyone that was thrown within the pit risked the very real possibility of not returning.
He snorted. "Civilized? Running into someone and suddenly throwing yourself into damn fight mode is hardly civilized, don't you think? It would be wise for you to utilize all of your senses." Had captive Mokai truly lost the ability to recognize and experience the world with using more than one of their senses-- there were five of them and yet many seemed to have capped off their maximum limit at two. Huntingdon was plagued with a widespread pandemic of Mokai having lost their damn sense.
Cellen continued. "Had there been a threat, you and I know damn well that it would've already escalated to a bloody brawl. We're fighters; our instincts are void of any thought to engage into flight mode. But we obviously have some common sense to know when we need to fight and when two fighters can be at ease and talk; fighter to fighter."
A single brow arched upward before the darkened male rolled his eyes. Why was it that the sense of wariness prolonged? Couldn't there at least be one interaction with someone within the compound that didn't react to his presence? Again, he shouldn't even be inside the settlement due to being a feral but he had come looking for something useful-- whether that was something or someone.
"Lighten up, snowflake. I'm just taking a stroll and then I'll get the hell out of here."

Erebus sighed, this feral was right. He wasn't being civilized. However even as he got out of his fighting stance he still was on guard for this male. "Erebus." He stated. Was he out of his mind? He just gave a feral his name! Why had he done that?! Oh well, what was done was done and he couldn't fix that. "Why would you even risk strolling through here? You could get caught." The male asked, staring quizzically at the other.
Then a question arose in his mind, this feral seemed to know the compound well enough, "Did you runaway and why?"

Erebus. The name tossed about the musing of his mind. He liked it. "Names Cellen," the feral added. Ah, and the question that always surfaced had now risen! Admittedly, he had been waiting for this one-- no matter what Mokai he ran into, Cellen found himself always bombarded by that sole question in particular. A fanged grin broadened across his maw, tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"It's a risk I swore to take when I left this place," the feral dwelt for a moment, his brows knitted together in thought. "Hell, its stupid for me to be here and I'd be damned if I'm caught and collared but there are some Mokai that need to experience life the way it was meant to be lived; free."
For such a rugged, rough and tumble male, the feral was, deep down, quite intuitive and insightful. That is, when he wasn't being a sarcastic smart a**. There was a part of him that had been cultured in conceptualizing the idea that captive Mokai had lost all of their logic, their natural instinct, to act for themselves. Why any Mokai would allow themselves to be collared and be regimented on the smallest aspect of life was...insulting. And yet those who were bound as 'pets' struggled to see what life really was and their story, their own individual journey, was being written by someone other than themselves. Life was for living, not for letting go.
Tugging free from the recesses of his mind, the male pursed his lips. "I escaped because I wanted to live for myself." Cellen rose his head, and his ears came forward. He studied Erebus silently, curiously. "To these humans, you're disposable. But out there, beyond this damn enclosure, you have nothing to lose when you're in a pack; its a true family."
A smirk unfolded across his maw as he shrugged. "Why live like a beta when you can be your own alpha?"

Well at least he was civilized. "Be careful then. If you don't want to be collared, be sure to avoid all the humans. Though it was idiotic to come here. Some may follow you but many will want to stay. I play along with my human, but I am the alpha there. I have my own place, I'm not only treated as a strong fighter but I'm not kenneled at night. I have free roam of the house and I'm fed when I'm hungry. What else could I possibly want? I hunt with my human for days out. I keep what I kill."
Although the allure of being in the wild was there, he felt better here. He'd rather die quickly if something were to happen that would cripple him than die slowly in the wild. Here he was pampered and waited on hand and foot, he could fight and be glorified, and he was important to his human.

A deep, hearty rumble emitted from his chest. He laughed, "I'll give it my damnedest."
Cellen nodded his head, his eyes glittered with agreement. He wasn't here to persuade others to join them as his pact with himself had only outlined assisting those who sought refuge away from captivity. He couldn't disagree with Erebus; why would a Mokai leave when they had everything, nearly everything, which they desired? It seemed like an idea life, an unrivaled fantasy which touched upon every tangible ounce of reality, although Cellen couldn't help but wonder if they were truly happy. Did materialism alleviate the festering wounds that unhappiness reopened? Were they living for the sake to live or were they living life like it was meant to be lived?
There was something about nature that taught humility and care. Nature bore a power to cleanse the afflicted soul and those whose wounds were deep with its mysteries-- even within its feral appearance, nature was just as meek as a lamb as it was voracious like a lion. But one had to simply choose where that knowledge, the understanding, would take them; whether it was to be confined in comfort or enduring the everyday adventure.
"If you ever want to explore more of the islands mysteries and see its true beauty, I'd be open to showing you around," Cellen offered. A small grin tucked at the corner of his maw as he chuckled. "I promise to bring you back to your human."

Erebus grinned at Cellen, already he seemed to have taking a liking to this other male. "You're growing on me and misleading me Cellen." He shook his head, "I don't want to leave, but I do want to explore. However, I will come back here. My humans needs me, not the other way around." To explore the world he had been taken from would be fun, even if he had grown up here that was his legacy out there.
"Take me. But you'd better bring me back." He nodded at the other.

A deep chuckle rose from out of his chest. "Try not to fall for me-- just stick to your guns, hotshot, and you'll bypass the hazard." Playful banter dripped from the males tone.
Erebus wasn't such a bad guy. Come to think of it, Cellen was sure as hell enjoying his company. Out of the plethora of Mokai who were enclosed within the settlement, Snowflake here hadn't chased him off as if he was the bearer of a grotesque disease that plagued all who came within contact of him. Within the thick of thin things, they were simply two Mokai who walked different paths; was that truly something which merited the escalation of a feud?
Silently, the male swiveled his ears and listened intently. He would oblige to Erebus's request. The snow-white male had a human who cared for him, who provided for him. It would be downright deceitful to tear him away from the life he had, especially from someone who cared about him. Deceit was something which Cellen had never enabled to act upon. Nor did he ever wish to.
"Seeing as it's getting dark, I'll come back and dawn and I'll take you on a hell of an adventure. The sights, let alone the views, are best at first light." Where would the sense of awe and wonderment be if they were to traverse through the tumultuous terrain without guidance or being allotted the opportunity to marvel at the sights that so few knew even existed. What awaited beyond the walls of Huntingdon was believed to be nothing but fairy tales and fantasies-- not even a sliver of a tangible reality. Oh, but how wrong they were.
A smirk played across his maw. "See you in the morning, Snowflake."

This feral really wasn't so bad. He had come to think of him as just another companion he might need down the road. Someone to back him up if he was ever caught in a pinch. Maybe the myth about the ferals was all wrong, they weren't a bunch of no brained brutes who ran around. A pups fairy tale which turned out to be wrong. Oh well.
"Falling for you?" Erebus had to huff a laugh at that, "Sorry Cellen, I don't swing that way. I'm all for the ladies." He did and eyebrow raise and his best sexy look, "Gets em every time." He added.
With night falling he knew he'd have to return to his worried human who'd pamper him to no end and he'd go to bed with a full and bloated tummy, but he wanted to give Cellen the heads up.
"Careful at dawn. If you want, maybe you can signal me. I've got a knack for avoiding all humans. Its been a game for me to not get caught myself. I like the challenge of being able to sneak around even if I'm as plain as day to see." The white male felt confident, "I've done my fair share of sneaking around. And I've love to see more of the real wild, not what my human and I have hunted in the same area over and over and over again if you catch my drift."
Nodding at the male he turned, but just before that he barked out, "See you in the morning."

"Dashing my hopes and dreams all at once, aren't you?" A mock, defeated sigh escaped with a wreath of mist which encircled his maw. "Ease up, hotshot. I got a lady back home and I don't plan on swingin' hot to trot." Hell, if he ever did fall wayward, Cellen was certain that Reisx would make damn certain that he would refrain from experimenting. The very thought had never crossed his mind-- it just wasn't his cup of tea, so to speak. He was content with what he had. And that's what mattered most to him.
The feral arched a brow up quizzically as he scrutinized the look. "You can't keep them away, eh? The look must be a lady killer because I'm not seeing any around," he teased.
Dawn was tricky, he admitted to himself. It wasn't uncommon for humans to be up at such ungodly hours. He had even seen some refuse sleep sometimes for days on end. Cellen didn't try to understand-- humans were complex and yet predictable at times. He pursed his lips for a moment in thought. And then it came to him.
"Just listen for the signal, you won't miss it," he said.
Watching as Erebus disappeared back into the veil of Huntington's domain, Cellen fell back into the shadows and ventured into the unruly wilds.
