Another day, another adventure to discover. One of the few remaining cloud-marked lionesses of the Ela'wadiyi sauntered through the tall grasses of the expansive pride. By now, she was very well versed with the land, and even knew a few faces from the other clans. By no means was it out of any familial obligation or pride heritage motivation; the more faces she knew, the more people she had to entertain herself!
This lioness held herself in high regards, always wearing a smirk on her face. No one could complain, however - a result of having a completely white pelt and a strong heritage. Her family had been in these lands for many generations, and for that, she felt more connected and powerful on the land.
Wondering what different colors of clay she could find today, she walked around alert, eyes roaming around the territory ever observant. Nothing could escape her sight.

Tishkari was out familiarizing herself with the pridal lands again. She was beginning to get the major landmarks down, but the former rogue would feel much safer if she knew every hummock and gully throughout all the lands the Ela'wadiyi claimed. Never mind that a pride had guards to keep out those who weren't wanted. There was always the possibility.
Still, she paused reflexively when she spotted the white-pelted stranger. Then common sense kicked in and she saw the tattoos. Given the sheer volume, she guessed this was a true-born member of the pride. As a newcomer, she supposed it would be good manners to approach her first.
"Hello," she offered quietly.

Ahhh, a newcomer - or rogue, at the very least. Those were the only possible two options, seeing the lack of colors and intricacies on the brown lioness approaching her. She knew the wanidatsi did not permit any rogue to linger in their lands for more than a day, so it was almost safe to assume that this stray lioness had been admitted into their ranks. But it was definitely not in her clan, otherwise she would have known already.
Her pace doubled as her walk turned into almost a skip - how exciting this was! That untouched brown fur... What colors could look best on this newcomer?
"I can't hear you?" were her first words as she reached the other lioness, although she could have just guessed quite accurately.
"Well, I'm Ari. Ari Waya, of the wolf clan, if you didn't know."
She'd forgive the newcomer for now for not knowing her name - many in the pride did, which she enjoyed.
"So which clan did you get into? Are you going to get marked yet?" she asked quite insistently.

The darker lioness blinked slowly at the spate of words the white lioness unleashed upon her. She wondered if being in a pride made people more talkative. Or maybe it was just her who chose to use as few words as possible. That was something to ponder, though not, perhaps when there was someone standing right in front of her.
"I did not know," she admitted, wondering who exactly this lioness was that she expected most of the pride to know her name.
"My name is Tishkari," the former rogue continued, "now of the Shadow Clan." She considered the question about the tattoos that she did not yeat bear. It seemed like it should have been offensive, but she would ignore that for now. After all, she hadn't really lived here long enough to have the same attatchment to the unnatural markings as a native, such as Ari Waya.
"I was given to understand that there were more urgent things than giving tattoos to a former rogue," she told the other lioness calmly.

Ari grew just a little impatient in those passing few seconds the rogue took to reply. Perhaps the rogue was older than her, though Ari had been in these lands for a long time already. Still, she had much youth in her - enough to even best some juveniles. At least the rogue had a somewhat youthful and fun sounding name.
"Oooooh, the shadow clan," she commented, pondering amused at how she found most of the members there to be less colorful and therefore more boring than usual, "Wonder how you'll do there."
She gave a girly giggle, starting a steady pace circling Tishkari, eyes roaming around the brown body ever so intrusively.
"Were you? Like what?" she asked, truly not understand what rogues could possibly do instead of being tattooed - she wasn't used to communicating with many rogues, evidently.
"I think it's the most important thing. It identifies you, you know!.. Or did they tell you what our marks mean to us?"

Tishkari blinked. Was there competition of sorts between the clans? That wasn't the impression she'd received thus far, but she hadn't met very many others in the pride yet.
"I do not know," she admitted neutrally. "I am still unfamiliar with the clans and the pride." She didn't understand what motivated Ari, or what the other lioness saw (or didn't see) in her. She hoped not every born member of the pride would be like this, else she might begin to regret her decision to come here.
"I suppose it is important, but I am content to receive the marks when they are ready to bestow them upon me," she replied simply. "But I was told that they tell the story of your- of our lives," she hastily corrected herself.

It was just like a rogue to not have an answer for something they brought up - or perhaps Tishkari was just making things up when she said there were more important things to do. How annoying! Oh, well. The least Ari could do was teach this barbaric rogue a thing or two.
"At least you know that," she remarked, looking over her tattoos, almost preening herself.
But it didn't seem like Tishkari knew much other than the few words she said. Whatever was on Ari's mind was usually out and publicized - what use would it be if she kept it to herself? Unless she wanted to pull a prank on someone, that is.
"So what is your story, huh? What kind of marks do you think you'll get?" she asked, mildly interested, "You'd look nice in a blue - sky blue, I'd think. Or perhaps some gold... Ahh, no, that'd be too regal. A green would be nice. To match your eyes."

Oh yes, Tishkari was sincerely hoping the rest of the trueborn Ela'wadiyi were nothing like Ari Waya. Her jaw was clamped shut for the most part, and she was using every bit of willpower to keep from snarling at the other lioness.
Still, she had to respond to the white lioness, else be even ruder. The brown lioness took a breath, exhaling sharply as she put her thoughts together. No need to give Ari more than generalities as to her past. She seriously doubted they'd ever be friends, and thus Scar was disinclined to share stories.
"I was born a rogue, but it was not the life I sought. The Ela'wadiyi way of life appealed to me," she answered shortly. "I don't know what color tattoos I will receive, but I trust the judgement of those who will create them."

Sigh. Ari suppressed the urge to roll her eyes at Tishkari's short and dumb answers. She wondered how she even got into the Ela'wadiyi like this. Did the wanidatsi really just accept every tail that wandered into the lands? Maybe she'll have to have a talk with him in the future.
She had gotten all she wanted from the rogue for now - a judgment that proved to be all too incriminating. Tishkari wasn't worth another second's attention, though she noted that the lioness would be a very fun individual to pull a prank on only because she deserved it. She would have to do remember to do this in the future.
"Maybe they'll assign me to do it," Ari remarked, a sly smile on her face, "But for now, I have better things to do. So long. Tishkari."
With her last words, she flew away in the opposite direction, prance still in her steps, and it seemed like she had forgotten all about the brown lioness completely.

Green eyes had been narrowed, watching the white lioness judge her. Well, Tishkari was judging right back - thankyouverymuch. Still she didn't expect the response she got. Her eyes widened and mouth dropped slightly open in shock.
Ari might be doing her tattoos? She hadn't really asked who did the markings, and accepted that it would be "soon." But now she had to wonder, what qualified a lion to do them? And would her unspoken hostility come back to bite her in the tail?
Well, so what if it did? Scar snarled silently now that there was no one around to see it. She'd survived worse than "bad tattoos." As long as they didn't do any lasting harm to her, what did she care? It wasn't like she had to look at herself.
Satisfied, Tishkari turned and walked off in the opposite direction from where Ari had headed.
