(( Between Chander and Mnong'ono )) It was late in the day, and Chander had been sent out to do hunting, since that was what he was. A hunter. A lower middle class hunter. Not that the class thing really bothered him, it was more of the hunting thing. He wasn't the most proactive lion, unless there were single women about, so hunting was always seen as a chore.
The purple lion sighed. There didn't seem to be much prey about. He'd ventured further than he normally would, he was now very much in the rogue lands. Not that he minded, he'd grown up there, but most of the others hunted closer to the border. He just figured there'd be more chance for prey out here.
But there wasn't. At least not at the moment.
So, bored, Chander made his way to a rather flat rock to rest. Maybe something more interesting would come along.Mnong'ono had been travelling all day. The golden lioness had decided it was time to start a new life in a pride, one she'd heard of from many others. It seemed like the place she wanted to be, where others were accepted, where there was plenty, where everyone was family.
That was what she felt like she needed the most.
A family.
The lioness had grown up alone in the rogue lands, her parents dying at a young age, and no siblings to aid her. She'd had it tough, but that didn't deter her. She'd grown up fast, and became a formidable lioness of the rogue lands. Then one day she'd come close to losing everything.
That was when she decided that she couldn't live alone any longer.
And now she was travelling in the direction of Pride Rock, right through the path where the purple lion lay resting.Chanders ears swivelled as he heard the approach of another. Prey? No, they were too quiet for that. Another predator perhaps? Meh, as long as they didn't bother him, he didn't mind. Chander wasn't one to get all aggressive over nothing.
Then she walked past.
A female!
Immediately he sprang to his feet. After his recent success with Wambazi, Chander was itching to try again, and prove to himself that it was not a simple fluke.
"Hey there," he said, calling out to her, a lopsided grin on his face.Mnong'ono stopped and turned. She was very apprehnsive about who just might be calling out to her. Just a rogue male as far as she could tell. The natural colored lioness raised an eyebrow at him. What did he want? That wasn't really a question, she already knew what most of them wanted. They were all the same. All they wanted was a good time.
Still, she wasn't one to be rude, a quick "Hi," and she kept walking. It wasn't like she had any reason to stick around. She had places she needed to be, no, places she wanted to be.
Chatting with a stranger wasn't going to get her any closer. She didn't stop! How was he supposed to put the moves on her if she wasn't going to stay and talk. Chander didn't see that coming. Not wanting to give up though, he lept from the rock and ran to catch up with her. She was walking at a brisk pace, one that Chander was not comfortable with.
"Hey there! Slow down will you, I just want to talk." He smiled, slowing down, and hoping that she would too.
Lionesses. You could never predict how they were going to behave.Mnong'ono did slow, slightly. She wasn't sure why the male was chasing after her. Desperate much? She sighed and kept walking. Hopefully she'd be able to shake him after not too long. It didn't take much showing of disinterest for the male to get the idea. She just hoped this one was quicker on the uptake than others.
"Okay, talk." she said, keeping her side of the conversation simple and light. She had no desire to talk with him.
She didn't even look his way, just kept walking."I... uh... uh..." Chander didn't quite no what to say. Normally by now the female would at least hear him out. But this one wasn't having any of it. The purple lion was stumped. What was he meant to do now.
She didn't seem to want to say much either. Which also wasn't helping the situation.
"You're in a hurry, where are you going?" He asked, hoping that showing interest would get her to stop. Or at least to slow down.
Seriously, he'd never met a lioness that kept such a solid pace."I am." She nodded but kept her face forward. She smiled slightly, pleased that her attempt at getting rid of him was doing the trick. Hopefully it would not take much longer and he would be gone. The she could get back to her business.
"Hah! Liked I'd tell you that." She scoffed. She wasn't one of those doe eyed lionesses that told any and all their secrets to those who asked. Her information had to be earned, and this lion wasn't doing a very good job at that.
"Are we done yet?" She asked impatiently. She knew it was only a matter of time before he laid off. Sooner rather than later in her opinion."You... don't even want to talk to me?" He asked, shocked. Normally the female would be eating out of his pocket by now. What had he done wrong? Perhaps he was being to forward again. Damnit, he should have learnt from his attempt with Iei that forwardness didn't work best. The more passive approach however, seemed to work just fine on Wambazi.
"Are we done?" He asked, wondering what she meant. Chander had no intention of giving up just yet, as far as he knew she could still be receptive.
He hoped."Nope." She said simply as she kept moving. Didn't he get the message? Mnong'ono sighed. What was it going to take.
"Done, as in, done talking here. I'm not interested in what you are. Beat it." She let out a low growl at the male, hoping it would get her point across.
Sometimes they were just so desperate. Her growl took Chander back. He'd never had another reject him so blatantly before. But, he didn't want to mess with her any longer. He could tell there was no way of turning things around.
"Fine, we're done." He said, backing off from the female, then turning around and heading back to the Mwezi'Johari lands.
"No fun.." he called back at her, though he doubted she would hear. Probably long gone by now he thought.Mnong'ono smiled. Finally he was gone and she could get back on her journey.
The sooner she reached her destination, the better.
