The pumpkin patch was unusually warm for an autumn day, with the sun shining brightly above in the clear blue sky. It could almost be mistaken for summer, had it not been for the light chill that the breeze held and the warm hues the leaves had painted themselves in. The rows of pumpkins sat patiently, waiting in silence for someone to pick them. The scarecrow in the middle of the field kept watch, keeping the field safe from the scourge of crows that might try to cause trouble.
A squeal of delight came from the expecting candy cane snake as he zoomed headfirst into the pumpkin patch, the calm quiet of the pumpkin patch disrupted. There were so many different ones, and so many different colors of orange, and Mama Zu said he could pick out whichever one he wanted so they could make a Jack o' Lantern! The boy was bursting with enthusiasm as he made his way around the pumpkins, slithering over the grass and dirt paths in search for the perfect pumpkin.
In his rush to get to the orangey gourds, he didn't pay attention to where he was going, nearly plowing down a small child. "Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" he asked, skidding to a halt and looking at the little birdie that sat in front of him. He was pretty sure he hadn't bumped into the kid too hard, but what if he had? He had to make certain the little fella was okay!

"Punkins!" Dante had never been to a pumpkin patch before. He had never been much of anywhere, before, his father, Erik, was terrible anti-social and lacked the interpersonal skills to interact with others without struggling. The man tended to avoid any interaction he could, but even he, distant as he was, had realized this was taking a toll on his children. Though he would not admit it to anyone--except possibly the children, he was rather fond of them. He wanted to keep them healthy and happy. Thus, he had taken Dante on an outing while Virgil and Lissy were being babysat by a friend. Er. An associate.
So Dante had been excitedly toddling over to a small pumpkin, hoping his father would purchase it for him. Unfortunately, the small pigeon like toddler did not notice there was another person going the same direction. He was promptly bumped into. He sniffled as he stumbled back, falling onto his bottom. Where was Virgil? Virgil was his protector. This big pink thing was scary! He stared up at Bonbon with big, wide eyes.
"Bad," he informed the older boy, shaking his finger at him. He was mimicking his father's disipline style. "Bad bad bad! No bump. Is bad."

BonBon looked down at the little winged boy, pouting a little. "I said I'm sorry..." he said, reaching down to help the little boy up. "I didn't mean to bump. Not bad if its an accident." The snake kneeled down to the little boy's level, the pout disappearing just as quickly as it had appeared, his expression . "Are you okays? You didn't get hurt, didja?"
A pink and purple hand shot out, waiting for a handshake. "My name's BonBon! What's yours?" The boy's grin leaked into his tone, radiating a sunshiny mirth. Yep, all was good in his eyes now; sorries were said, so that was that.
