Ka paused in his lone journey and sniffed the wind. As an Alpha who had left his pack, he was now shunned from ever going back. It saddened him a little but he wasn't overly concerned. It wasn't like he had a mate or anything, he was simply born into an Alpha position. In reality he wanted to travel across the land like a drifter for a few years. Pack life was so boring. His family constantly pestering him, never having peace and quiet, everybody talking, whispering and giggling well into the night. One day he just couldn't stand it anymore, he said goodbye to his family and left. It wasn't uncommon for betas or gammas to leave but almost unheard of for an Alpha to leave.
Now this, this was the life, all the grass one could eat and only responsible for himself. "Ahhhhh", he sighed. As he breathed in again, he blinked. He could smell another stallion, and if he could smell him then he had to be close.

Kinda in a roaming mood, Zeddler traveled quite a ways away from his normal romping ground on this day. It was just one of those random urges to travel and see what was in the planes that day. And so far as the eye can see, grass, more grass, a few trees, a few other Azrein.... Nothing suspicious in his books. Then again, it took a lot for his radar to go up. An unfamiliar scent drifted across the sea of grass, stopping the roaming stallion in his tracks for the time being. Zed took the time to get a good whiff then began looking around for this other....and spotted an interesting looking male not too far off. With a flick of an ear, he approached cautiously, " Oh...Hi. Who are you? "

Ahh this was where the smell had come from. "My name is Ka Valko, formerly the Alpha of the Southern Pack. Who are you sir? You have very stylish war paint on, salmon berry base for the pigments?" Ka liked the look of this male, he looked sturdy and he was direct, Ka hated dancing around with words, it gave him a headache. Ka's yellow eyes searched the stallions face, "Huh, green eyes, most unusual." Ka said. Most of the horses that used to live with them had yellow eyes, well all of them actually.

Ah... Someone that was really new to the area. Zeddler observed him and took note of the coloration. An odd pattern, not unpleasant. And very astute. " Ah. . . Welcome then. I am Zeddler. And ... I really haven't a clue. Children are children. " He had no clue what this 'Southern Pack' was, but whatever it is, it seemed that this Ka Valko azrein had left it for a reason. It would be rude to ask what that reason was.
Zeddler blinked his blue eyes and tilted his head to the side. Green? "Blue. Actually. It's quite common to have green eyes around these parts. There are some Azrein with purple and red too. " Or so he'd been told. He wasn't the best when it came to colors. He was having difficulty distinquishing the color of the other's eye, though he was defaulting to some sort of amber color. An eyebrow arched, " I'm not sure what my eye color has to do with anything though... I'm a little confused. "

"Hmm blue you say? It must be the lighting." Perhaps Ka himself was having some trouble with colors, although he did perfectly well seeing in the dark. His eyes widened. " Purple and red? Really? How different. You see where I come from all our eyes are yellow or amber colored. It has always been such and only once did I see someone with eyes colored a different way, and they were black so it wasn't very exciting." Ka cocked a hoof up in a relaxed posture. This place and its inhabitants were quite interesting. Perhaps he would stay here for a while. He wanted to see the azrein with the rainbow eye colors. "So have you met very many interesting Azrein here?" Ka asked.

" It could be the paint as well. I won't hold it against you. " he said with a slight grin. Not that he could do anything other than that. Hopefully no one would yell out to look at some blue flower...he'd be totally at a loss. Anyways....
Amused, Zed gave a snort, " As many colors as you can think of, someone probably has eyes of that color. Though, I don't think I've ever seen black eyes. Dark brown, but never black. That'd be rather interesting to see. " Now, finally, Zeddler was very curious about this place Ka came from. Only yellow tones for eyes? Quite the breeding stock there, he mused to himself. " I've met a quite a few characters. Some I plan on never approaching again without bribes. Mare's here are very touchy and moody. "

"You'd be surprised at how easy mares are back home then. Annoying but easy. I have always enjoyed a good hunt, or challenge as you may call it. Somehow when they don't make you work for it, it is less rewarding you know?" Ka shook out his mane and breathed deeply. A new place, what could be more exciting then that? "Any particular mare that has caught your fancy Zeddler? So far I havent found anyone interesting, hopefully you can point me in the right direction?"

"Challenges are nice when they're put within reach. Outrageous requests and demands aren't worth it sometimes. " Or bad tempers, but that probably was that one mare. He did catch her at a bad time when he wasn't at his most appealing state. Zeddler snorted and thought about the mares he had met. " A few have caught my eye, but nothing worth persuing anything but friendship. I'm terribly picky. But if you wander around just outside the stone fortress with men, you'll be bound to stumble across some mares. "

"Really, that sounds most intriguing my friend. I hope you find what you are looking for. " Ka replied. "It seems that this land is full of mares. Are there many stallions too?"
He pricked his ears forward "It would be nice to know what the other competition is like." Ka had been quite popular with the ladies but had never really found a mare he would love, he wanted to change that, even if he could find someone to love for only a short while, preferably if she had colorful eyes.

" A few stallions roam here and there. Their tempers are just as varied as the mares. " he replied with a slight tilt of his head. It was hard not to just say ' Go explore, the worst that could happen is that you'll fall in with the bad crowd'. Then again, 'bad crowd' was a perspective thing.
Sigh.
Ka seemed quite energetic though, and quite the go getter. At least from the small interaction Zed had with him. " Oh really? Well I'm not really competition so more ladies for you. " he teased with a small chuckle.

"How are you not competition? You are a fit stallion and you wear your war paint proudly, what more could a self-respecting mare ask for?" Ka tilted his head. Did this stallion like other stallions? Ka found that thought very interesting. Where he came from if a stallion liked other stallions, he either moved out or had secret affairs. They only told their closest friends. Ka thought he liked the idea of freedom better. "Do you perhaps like other males?" he asked carefully. He wasn't alarmed in any way, he just didn't want to upset his new friend. At least he thought Zeddler was his friend.
