(( exclaim OOC: PLEASE ONLY POST HERE IF YOU HAVE BEEN INVITED to this RP by a GM thank you! THIS INCLUDES TIHERS AND HUNTERS

Hunters: Your backyard hub is HERE for respawn, this is the back tent that requires invites, though you are free to pm a gm and request an invite when you are in the hub!))

The Tent

The lighting was surprisingly bright for such a small, crammed space. While the 'tent' itself was nothing short of tiny, spanning a quarter the distance of an average football field, and most of the backyard where the Hunters were camped, it was filled from corner to corner with tables, contraptions, wires, and large metal-clad crates.

That was, not including the cages, electric-blue sparkling wires replacing conventional iron ones. There were a couple of figures huddled in said cages, vague shapes, shadows, staring outwards with the semblance of eyes. Some simply lay huddled, still, others fidgeted, a few dared to snarl and growl menacingly at the two Hunters that walked into the tent. One of them was wearing a familiar overcoat - a hood obscuring their face - but their weapon, to any Hunter and even some Halloween veterans, was unmistakable.

Caelius eyed the largest instrument in the center of the tent, the only place where junk had not been piled. "Please tell me the electric generator has enough power to at least attempt to use this piece of junk." He was in a foul mood, having just arrived from within the Haunted House on a quick reconnaissance check to assist some less-than-competent Hunters on their catch.

The other Hunter looked slightly offended, opened their mouth, and seemingly corrected themselves upon realizing that it would be a futile argument: it was Caelius after all. "Yes sir, once Dr. H gets here, we can begin the first of the weapons conversion attempts. The specimens have already been prepared for the process."

Upon hearing the word 'specimens', the Death Hunter walked over to the largest of the cages. Unlike the others, there were exactly thirteen spread in a semi-circle, chains crossing over the humming electric barriers, connecting the first to the last. He narrowed his eyes. "They look pathetically weak, I hope they can survive the process." Caelius took no notice of the guttural growl and then a snarl that ensued upon those words, staring at the other haphazard heap of cages that were piled on the other side. "At least these will have a better chance of the newer ah, specimens that we've found. It's amazing what a little bit of Fear can do, really."

He didn't sound amazed at all, but he probably just liked to hear himself talk.

Raising an eyebrow, the technician look one more nervous glance at the creature that Caelius had taunted - that was now attempting to shove itself through the currents of electricity though to no avail - and then back to his clip board. "Yes, sir... I'll just go get Dr. H okay? You can um, examine the specimens more."

There was a reason that very few Hunters liked to be around the Death Hunter, though Dr. H wasn't a step up from the Undesirables list either.

OOC

- ONLY POST HERE if you have been invited to this thread
- If you are playing a disposable (invited by pm), you are already caged as part of the more haphazard group of cages. You can see the thirteen connected cages, though you can't really tell who's inside. You can also see clearer people trapped next to you and around you: demons, monsters, ghosts, reapers, a strange motley of them. Only several of the cages were filled, and you realise though you can't reach out and touch the outside - the electricity is painful at the least - you can still talk to the others. Though whether or not it is wise to speak when their captors are around is up to them.
- ICLY your character (if a disposable) does not remember how they ended up here, as they were knocked out. They also do not know what Hunters are, but are more or less familiar with Halloween, and the creatures that exist there.
- If you are a Hunter invited to this room, please follow the cues given to you by the NPCS
- If you are a student invited to this room, please follow the cues given to you by the NPCs, and also the guidelines of the disposables above.

Lois crouched in her cage, eyes tracking the two people as they walked outside of the cages. She was unsure of how she had arrived here, but a painful lump on her head gave her some clue as to why she could not remember. The cage she was in was too small for her to fully stand, and the electricity containing it meant that she was loathe to try to touch it, especially as there was already a faint scent of burned hair in the air.

Specimens. They had called them specimens. That rankled her, but even deeper down, it scared her. Just what were they planning to do with them? She was suddenly glad she was not in one of the cages in the semi-circle, but she could see that others were. Others that could possibly be her friends, her family. A light rustle reminded her of the cages around her, maybe someone in one of those cages knew more about what was going on. Pitching her voice low she whispered, hoping someone friendly, or a least not one of her captors, heard her. "Does anyone know what's going on? I don't remember how I got here, or even where here is."

Glen had woken in a bleary haze, his head pounding, uncertain where he was or what the heck it was that had brought him here. And then there was the issue of where /here/ actually was. At first he'd made the mistake of trying, in a sudden bout of panic and claustrophobia, to break his way out of the sparking confines, only to find out in equisite agonising detail that they were indeed painful, leaving him winded and gasping on the floor.

After that he had instead crouched, wide eyed like an animal on the floor of his cage, breathing quickly. He did not like being trapped like this, everything in his nature chafed at captivity and real desperation gripped him.

He had been listening to the conversations outside his confines with a growing sense of fear and disgust. Specimens. Thats what they were it seemed. It had a horrible sense of forboding. As though they were mere numbers on a page rather than living breathing individuals. He had no idea who the people were he could see now and then walking unrestrained around the cages but he knew right away and with uncompromising vitriol, that he hated them.

He twitched an equine ear as a voice reached him from one of the nearby cages, shimmying as close as he dared to the bars to reply

"Ah don't know whit's gawn oan." he whispered back, hoping at least that the other person, whatever kindred captive there was, understood him. "Ahm in the same situation o'er here, wan minute walkin' aroon just fine. Next minute, lights oot an ahm in here. An' those bars are a right b*****d tae."

Another robed figure hurriedly entered the area, studiously ignored any whispers from the cages, and approached Caelius. "Sorry, the doctor is um...coming, sir," the voice was female, and slightly flustered. She stopped, keeping a careful distance, "He'll be here shortly. Soon-ish. Probably. The house's ghosts-but-not-really-ghosts things have him a bit distracted at the moment, sir."

When Diece came to, he felt a dull throbbing in the back of his head. Mouth gaping and eyes groggily searching in all directions, the student grumbled as he sat up. “ThehellamI?” His words slurred together as he began to fully wake. As his vision cleared, he finally registered the fact that he was in a cage. Immediately, it caught his attention and he sat even straighter and looked around his cage with disbelief. “The hell? When’d I get here?” While he wasn’t necessarily claustrophobic, he absolutely loathed the fact that someone had knocked him out and dragged him into a cage, much to his furious embarrassment.

His immediate plan of action was to grip the bars, perhaps even reach past them in an attempt to grab something. His hands wrapped around the bars, but as soon as he brushed the metal his entire cage sparked and glowed, shocks of electricity crackling everywhere and electrocuting the poor lad until he yelped and released his hold. That freaking sucked.

Narrowed eyes scrutinized the mysterious figures as they strode into the tent. Despite Diece’s permanent scowl, he seemed a bit curious about their conversation. Electric generator? He turned placid for a moment, but angrily lunged forward at the mention of “specimens.” “I’M NOT A SPECIMEN, STU—“ His tirade was cut short as he once again reached outside, evoking another set of painful shocks. Seething, Diece retreated into the relative safety of the cage, but kept glaring at them with a hateful look.

An even deeper scowl etched on his face, Diece reluctantly settled with looking at the surrounding cages, around him were also denizens of Halloweentown. There seemed to be a conversation going on between the two of them and he grudgingly joined in. “We must’ve been knocked or something, because I don’t remember a damn thing.” Somehow, he frowned even more than he already was. “And I freaking hate it.”

Another figure walked in and spoke nervously. Diece scoffed. How skittish.

Entering from Hunter Group 2 Room

Harrison, unfortunately, did not look any shade of mysterious. The only hood he was wearing was a giant, silly-looking stuffed unicorn with rainbow yarn hair. He smelled like a teenage girl. Sparkly rainbow gunk was still stuck in his hair and shoes.

Upon hearing what he thought was Clarice's voice, he wished he had something bigger than Candace to casually hide behind.

Entering from Hunter Group 2 Room

Candace was shameless as she walked arm in arm with her teammates. She was covered in rainbow slime, she was attached to two half-naked-men-wearing-unicorn-clothing, and she didn't give a s**t.

Candace was the honey ******** badger.

She looked around at where they were, eyes wide and lips set in a wide grin. Oh, this was delightful. Were those cages? Ohhhh she was so excited! This was more like it! She grinned at Jerry and Harrison. "This is more like it, eh? No stupid slides and rainbow j**z in our faces."

"That is fine, Clarissa, I already received the proper instructions to operate it, assuming they did not mess up the setup." Caelius gave Dr. H's assistant a dismissive hand wave, turning to the rather impressive console behind him. He lightly tapped in the login name and password - though how the hell the technicians had time to set up an entire login system and not perfect the actual weapons conversion machine itself was beyond him - waited a few moments for everything to load, before typing in the execute command.

The machines hummed, the generator whirred loudly outside, and all in all, the screen loaded like a very slow operating system downloading a large file. Ten percent ready, fifteen, Caelius, bored, looked around at the assorted cages.

When Harrison and Candace entered the tent, the screen had finally loaded past fifty percent, and the large hollow contraption, reminiscent of a six foot cylinder crossbred with a shower tub, gave a strange crackling, electric noise, sparks flying around it. The Death Hunter and occasionally 'instructor' gave the muttering specimens no notice, and walked over to the first of the thirteen cages, yet again. Instead of merely inspecting him, his scythe was suddenly mere inches away, it flashed - and the first of the cages snapped open, as if made out of nothing but brittle wood.

The figure that was once inside the broken cage however, made no motion to move, instead, breaking into tremulous shivers, attempting to move even further back as Caelius got closer. It continued shuffling backwards, as far as its chains would let it, yellow eyes narrowing, body heaving weakly.

The Death Hunter offered them one of his classic smiles. "Come now, we can't wait all day can we?"

"You cannot do this to us." The creature hissed as Caelius attempted to grab them with his gloved hand. "We are the thirteen who protect this place, by shattering us, you will achieve nothing but destruction."

"Oh." There was a loud clatter as the Hunter gathered up their severed chain and pulled as hard as he could, shoving the creature forwards. "I'm looking forward to it." He suddenly paused for a second, scythe in one hand, kneeling down to face the Halloween specimen. "Actually, I'm feeling a little kind today. How about you tell me where the Soul Harvester is, and I'll let you and all your friends go. You can go back to your ... Haunted House and we will pack up and leave you alone."

Silence on the other side. There was a sudden blur - the creature had lashed out - and then a flash of blue as they went flying, hitting the cages with a loud clang.

"I see." Caelius seemed to have expected that as an answer. "Well, I guess the system is ready. Let's give this prototype a shot wont we?" His other hand had a firm hold of the chain and simply yanked - the creature went flying into the cylinder space, and the panel, upon sensing its Fear, simply snapped shut.

The screen took a second to inform the Hunter that it was 'analyzing for compatibility' as the weapons conversion instrument began to hum louder. The captive inside made no motion to struggle, simply staring at the ground, limbs hanging by its side. A few moments later, after the screen confirmed that the Fear inside was compatible, it moved on to another execution window, this one simply reading Fear transferal.

"Trainees." Caelius turned to the two standing in the room as the screen continued to load. "Do you know exactly how weapons are formed?" He didn't wait for the other to answer. "We as Hunters possess two unique qualities. The first is the ability to sense Fear. The second is the ability to use Fear." The whirring of the machine grew louder, almost unbearable, the cylinder itself crackling with electricity. "However, there is always the question of where Fear comes from. What is it's nature. How can it be used."

By now, the noise was so loud, it was pretty much drowning out everything else in the room. The dark shape within the weapons conversion machine was barely visible, its form flickering and wavering, limbs malforming to shadows to curves, to nothingness. The creature inside was probably thrashing and screaming, but it was hard to tell through all the noise and light.

Just as the machine seemed pretty much ready to explode, as the screen informed the Hunter that it had almost exceeded 'electricty overload', everything stopped. There was only the smell of smoke and haze that surrounded the machine.

Intrigued, the Death Hunter walked closer, examining the cylinder. He gave it a slight tap, watching the hatch slide open, letting the smoke escape. Caelius blinked for a second, removing his glasses, using his oversized hood to defog them before putting one hand into where the creature had been. Instead of a Halloween creature bound in chains, there stood instead an impressive, curved blade, dull black in appearance. Lifeless.

"This is why we are Hunters." Caelius turned the blade over, letting Harrison have a good look at this. "Fear is wild, arcane, but it can also be controlled. It works for and against us."

It was odd that the trainees' weapons had not said anything during the entire procedure, and yet it did not seem upset or disappointed, just void of all emotions. Satisfied at last at the clear tangible converted Fear that he had his hands wrapped around, Caelius threw the object in front of the twelve other captives.

"One down, twelve more to go." He said nothing else as he exited the tent.

Despite being arm and arm with Candace (and enjoying it) Jerry had, unfortunately, taken that moment to remove his glasses and clean them while humming and missed everything that had transpired during the fifteen minute lull his writer had failed to pay attention to his group to go post.

Glasses back on his face and removed of all rainbow gook and ash from the previous flames, he blinked in fresh clarity, "Ah! Er... what is this place?" The sight of the cages was... unsettling. And something sent shivers down his back. It was the general vibe, no doubt. More monsters... but at least there seemed to be a lack of those horrible Boos.

Clarice didn't bother correcting Caelius. As far she was concerned, the less attention he paid to her, the better. Although the sight of him pressing buttons and touching various pieces of equipment...well, let's just say she was glad not to be one of the critters in the cages. Actually, that was kind of a given, but equipment failure could mean all sorts of fates worse than death. Fates she'd rather avoid.

And speaking of....

"Nice hat, Harrison."

She would have enjoyed needling him a moment or two longer, and possibly getting a closer look at Dr. H's Candy Darling, but Caelius had decided to get his little show on the road. All in all, the transformation went through smoothly enough, though the FEAR read outs were more unstable than she would have liked, especially out in the field. Frowning she studied the monitors as the Death Hunter exited the tent.

"Well, well , well...looks like our dearest Cael didn't burn anything down, get those cooling units up and running now," Dr. H's voice snapped as he entered, "Why is that weapon on the ground? For ******** sake, pick it up and store it properly. We don't treat our weapons like trash. Caelius? Well, that's unsurprising, he's hardly capable of taking care of anything beyond his clothes and hair products. Where's the one-armed wonder...is he still gimping around inside the house? My god, is it that difficult to take down one little aberrant FEAR creature?"

When the first voice reached her ears Lois couldn’t help but feel some sense of relief. It was a foreign voice, and she missed a few words of the exchange, but it was someone else. Feeling such relief almost made her feel weak, but in times like this…in times like this it was okay to find solace in the company of others. Another voice joined in, and she analyzed the exchange. Well, it didn’t seem like a party boat, but they were all in the same boat together. They may as well try to figure things out.

Before she could respond more people entered her field of vision, and then the demonstration began. Horrified she watched in silence as the scuffle ensued, heart hammering in her chest and blood pounding in her ears. As the machine grew louder she moved toward the edge of her cage. “STOP IT!” she screamed, eyes wide in terror, but her voice was easily drowned out by the whirring.

And then it was done. As the smoke cleared she set back, scooting to the far reaches of her cage and pulling her knees up to her chest. She wasn’t a scaredy-cat, she wasn’t some timid little mousey monster. But this? This terrified her. They called us specimens. We could…I could…be next As the realization set in her fear turned to panic, and panic to desperation. “We have to do something,” she whispered, hating how pathetic she sounded. “We have to try something.” But even as she spoke she realized how pointless it was, at least for her. She had no way out of the cage. Frogs and electricity? They didn’t mix. And her abilities and powers would in no way help her escape a cage like this.

Glen's attention was rather quickly hauled away from trying to communicate any further with anyone as the traffic of people coming and going in the tent began

Curiosity took him as one of the gathered figures headed to the console. He slunk to the edge of his bars again, pressed close to the floor to try and get a look at what was going on. He was determined to get as solid a picture of his situation as possible in order to try and get out of it, or at least have a chance. What followed however, completely derailed everything. Whatever reasoning Glen had going on was overridden by pure primal terror as he watched the brutality unfold before his eyes, regretting instantly moving to get a better look, but unable to tear his eyes off of the nightmare that followed. He stammered aloud, his only means of dealing with it, unaware if anyone around him heard him or cared, only able to mouth wordlessly as he trailed off,

"Made him..a.. a..that's jist.."

His stomach clenched and he actually had to fight the instinct to retch as adrenaline flooded his body. There were two options open to him, fight or flight, and as he'd found before, flight was not an option in this cage prison of his. So fight was all that remained. Bristling as bravely as he dared he snarled to anyone and no one.

"Ya ********' cowrin' wee cowards the lot of ye! No even a fair fight. Murder!"

His voice spoke of bravado and courage, but his small frame was shaking uncontrollably with terror, using everything he had to keep back the tears of fear and rage.

Candace's eyes widened when they spotted Caelius' scythe. So beautiful, so majestic. She wanted it so badly. Strangely enough Atropos didn't say a word when she thought hard on how badly she wanted to touch the scythe again; she figured perhaps it was because she was just reveling in having been charged for so long. Was there a time limit on how long their charge lasted? Was it short and sweet and needed release immediately before it was rendered useless? Or did it last for as long as the weapon was summoned? She hadn't thought to ask before but now she was honestly curious about this. She was looking around in amazement until she heard dear Caelius call for their attention. No, she did not know...but she had a feeling she was about to find out. She remained quiet for now, knowing that her saying anything would just be a waste of breath. But coming here had not been a waste of time.

She let go of Harrison to take a careful step closer as the machine came to life, louder and louder and louder. Purple eyes were as wide as they could get, and her jaw was dropped and hanging slack. She pulled up her headphones to keep herself from growing deaf as well.

Atropos still wasn't talking.

Candace did jump as Caelius tossed the weapon down but only out of surprise, having not expected that. So...those things were used to make weapons? A slow grin crept across her lips as she stepped closer to the new weapon and squatted down to get a closer look at it, her arms hugging her knees. "Now that's interesting." She murmured quietly, almost reverently, as she reached a hand out to brush her fingers over the weapon. Jerry spoke and Candace glanced back his way, still grinning. "Apparently a tent where they make weapons for hunters. Neat, huh?"

At Dr. H's demand someone pick it up Candace nodded and did just that, grabbing the newly formed weapon in her hands and standing up. She heard the sound of a whispering voice above her, though she was unable to make out what was being said, and she chuckled, tapping her foot still covered by her beautifully glowing boot scythes. "This really is going to be a fun mission." She walked away with the weapon to regard Dr. H...how...delightful to see him. She grimaced.

"Where would you like this stored, sir?"

“NoiseNoiseNoise…” The demon grumbled unconsciously to himself, unknowing and unaware to the situation at hand. His clawed hands tried to block out the noise, but his head was already buzzing, throbbing with pain. He lay there curled on the cold metal floor as smoked filled his nostrils. His body stiffened as he shot up to witness what true horror was.

Finally the harsh clatter of the dark metal hitting the floor.

One down, twelve more to go.’ The man’s voice so cold and dead…just like they would be. The blade finished reverberating on the ground and the silence was stunning. Or maybe people were talking, the demon didn’t even hear them.

Ziz, the fire demon, curled up with his knees to his chest and probably for the first time in his life stopped moving. What was the point? Not even glancing at the other captives, Ziz bowed his head. What if he knew one? He was going to die like the man said.

"Oh Candy, sweet delicious Candy..." Dr. H, greeted the trainee smoothly, ignoring Clarice's soft snort in the background. "...you appear before me at such wonderful times. Such a treat, you are my dear, just take it over to those lock boxes in the corner, your pendant will be enough to open one."

The sound of a snarling, angry voice caught his attention, and the doctor rolled his eyes, "The natives are getting a bit restless, we may have to assign a guard beyond the current tech squad."
