The country resembles most of the other countries, with forests dotting the landscape. It is unknown why the country is called Rain; it may be due to seasonal showers which give the region more rainfall than other countries. The country shares borders with Earth, Fire, Grass, River, Wind and Bird. Being centrally located between many of these countries has caused it to be their battleground in past wars. This strife caused the country to adopt strict border control. Any visitors must clearly state their purpose, length of stay and be kept under constant surveillance. This applies even when Rain holds the Chuunin Exams.

Isuko quickly moved through the country as one of its namesake storms broke around him, heading towards the village. "I never knew I'd miss regular rain so much. Of all the things to be homesick for..."Isuko turned back towards the tree line, hoping to gain some measure of shelter underneath the branches of the trees. Shortly, Isuko left the treeline and came upon his village. He greeted the guards posted at the gates and made his way inside. He headed for the assignment office to report in and be debriefed. Quote: Transformation Check PC: 520 + 672 + 324 = 1516 The surroundings were intense and not just because of the heavy downpour that had started up when he was standing just outside of the village. It was due to the fact that it started with just a field of mud, but quickly turned into a bamboo forest that looked as if it had been severely damaged. Bamboo lay smashed on the ground, stalks were severed, and the faint smell of blood could be detected as Michio walked through the remains of what must have been a truly magical sight to behold. “This must have been a battlefield for a war or something... no fight I've ever seen would cause this much damage to the environment.” he muttered to himself, traveling through the forest and making sure to step where it was stable, as he had decided to not continue using his ability to walk on water. He was still trying, after all, to appear as if he were a normal person, and normal people can't walk on water. Unless they were wearing some kind of shoe, but what traveler would have the money for something like that? Certainly not the traveler that Michio was pretending to be. He continued to walk through the forest until it finally came to a clearing on the other side. A village could be seen a short distance away so Michio ducked back into the thick bamboo. 'Crap... well, I don't think I was seen.' he thought, peering around the corner so that just his peripheral vision would be able to catch anything interesting. His stomach churned silently and Michio grimaced. 'Oh man... I forgot to pack some food...' he thought, looking out at the village that had a stockpile of food under a tin roof. None of it looked perishable, which made Michio think about getting some of the food for himself. 'Stealing is wrong though. Perhaps I can try to barter for some of it.' he thought, slowly creeping out from behind the bamboo thicket before heading to a part of the village where it appeared to be an entrance. It was hard to tell though; the village had no walls to protect it. He walked down the lane and attempted to find someone he could speak to. If that person wasn't the person in charge of food, perhaps that person would know who was. After a few minutes of searching, Michio was able to find someone standing under an ground-staked umbrella and smoking a cigarette. He walked underneath the large umbrella and pulled out his own pack, thankful that his blood transformation had created a waterproof barrier for the pocket they were stuffed into. “Hell of a storm, eh?” he spoke with a gruff voice. The man nodded and took another drag as Michio lit up a cigarette of his own. “Hell of a time to be traveling. Where are you headed?” the man asked, and Michio shrugged. “Thought I might head to the village but along the way, I became hungry and needed to stop off. I was actually looking for someone who would be able to point me in the direction of a restaurant or something.” he said through smoke that poured from his mouth. The man laughed and took another drag before speaking again. “This must be your first time through here. We don't have a restaurant of any kind in this village. It's purely residential. We grow and cook our own food. If you were looking for a hot meal, you'd have been better suited stopping at Memorial City or Tame Tame Toki!! Mall.” Michio nodded sadly and took another drag off his cigarette when the man spoke once more. “But you're in luck, my soggy little traveler. I grew more food last year than I can store. I'd be willing to part with a box of it for 50 ryo.” Michio turned and looked at the man, considering whether or not to haggle when his stomach audibly cried out. In a haste, Michio agreed to pay the price. The man smiled toothily and took his money before leading Michio out from under the umbrella and over to the stockpile. He pocketed the ryo before grabbing an empty wooden box about a foot long and 6 inches wide, then began to fill it with grains of rice, a couple of corn stalks, and a few pods of edamame before closing the box and handing it to Michio. The Ketsueki looked at the box and frowned, which forced the man to ask, “Problem?” “I just thought that I might get more food than this. I paid fifty ryo, after all.” “And you got a box worth fifty ryo, traveler. I'm not sure where you're from, but unless food is in abundance, I can't imagine it's much less food for the same cost. We're a small village far from any large civilization, and we don't get caravans in but once every few months. Our food is not in abundance, not this year. The rains have been worse than ever and despite what some believe, that doesn't make for prosperous agriculture. So, the price is fifty ryo for that much food.” Michio was still frowning, as the man had just told him that they'd grown more food than they could store only a few minutes before, but nodded. “Well, sorry to hear about being so down on your luck. May your next crop fare as well as my travels.” And with that, the Ketsueki placed the box into his bag and nodded once more to the man. “Thank you for your hospitality and for your supplies.” The man smiled again. “Thank you for your money.” Michio couldn't help but smirk. If all went well with the Village Hidden in the Rain, he would see about providing this village with more commerce. More caravans. More trade. But before he could consider attempting anything of that scale, he had to not only reach the village, but he had to also convince them to let him join. The Village Hidden in the Sand would have sent word to every surrounding village about his desertion, as well as whatever they believed he did during the mission to Aren, so he had to reach the Hidden in Rain village before they made a decision on what to do with him. Michio bowed his head and exited into the street, the rain beginning to slam onto the top of his head once again. “Traveler!” someone called behind him, and Michio turned just in time to catch a cylindrical object that had been tossed to him. He looked down at it and noticed that it was an umbrella. Looking up, he smiled at the food vendor, who had thrown him the rain deterring tool. He opened the umbrella and began his travel out of the small village, glad that nothing had gone horribly wrong. He'd used up half of his money, but at least he would eat this night. It was a few hours before Michio came across a place in Rain Country with only a light drizzle, and it just so happened to be in the center of a thick bamboo forest. He looked around and noticed that the ground was dry as could be and glanced upwards to see that there was a large overlay of bamboo stalks and bamboo leaves that blocked the rain from striking the ground. “Ah... somewhere dry. Maybe I can set up camp here for the night.” he said to himself, then began to gather a bunch of bamboo leaves in order to set up a bed. As he did so, however, a bunch of spiders that had been clustered up underneath the pile that he'd picked up began to scatter and Michio dropped the leaves reflexively. 's**t! Roku!' he thought as blood flowed from his fingertips and created a couple of coils that hung in midair similar to the drums on a tommy gun. But after a few moments of nothing happening, he began to calm down. 'You're getting paranoid, Michio...' he scolded himself, but just as he was about to retract the bloody coils, a loud noise from beyond the bamboo stalks erupted and a large lizard, bigger than normally possible. It stood at five feet tall and twenty feet in length, dark gray in coloration with scales that stood outwards as if they were spikes, talons the length of Michio's forearms, and a tail as long as Michio was tall. On the end of the tail were three large spikes and in it's eyes were full of murder aimed directly in Michio's direction. “Great.... a fight already. I haven't been here five minutes...” he said, and dodged as the lizard bum rushed him, attempting to run him down and pin him for a death strike. “... and now I have to deal with this crap!” Michio landed on the lizard's left and held both hands out, firing bullets of blood from the coils and slamming the lizard's body, causing the beast to fall over onto it's right side. It hissed and stood up again, but wasn't allowed much time to react as the blood that had coated the beast mixed with new blood that Michio was pouring from his palms, circling and completely enveloping the large beast in a cocoon of life fluid. The gargantuan lizard struggled but to no avail as it was soon surrounded head to toe. Michio, using the blood control that he had, lifted the lizard almost effortlessly, and began to constrict until the lizard exploded into nothing but a large amount of blood and mangled tissue. Michio smirked and began to siphon all of the lizard's blood, gaining sustenance from absorbing it's proteins. Oddly, it filled the void in his stomach, but he was satisfied. “Can't leave a trace though...” he said under his breath and used his blood to collect up as much of the explosion as he could see in the dim light of the clearing. As he absorbed the blood, he felt less and less hungry and smiled. “Found my way of eating. I just wish I had some way to cook the meat rather than just crush it into fluid I can absorb.” But as it stood, he had to clean up the area. He continued to seek out the blood that spattered everywhere and broke it down and absorbed it until he could no longer smell the blood of the lizard anywhere. Then he collected every trace of his own blood and reabsorbed it into his bloodstream before looking around. “Well, despite there not being a corpse here, it feels too corpsey. Time to move on. Rain Village, here I come!” Quote: +622 words 1783/8000 Rain Country to Rain Village 900/800 Wind Country to Rain Village travel words 831/xx combat words 1883/xx Team bonus with Karasu_Tenma 196/xx from non-combat Wind Country 2879/xx Total non-combat, non team bonus words

Michio turned his head to the sound's origin and looked at the site of the the rustling leaves and stalks, then turned his whole body to it. He walked slowly towards it and grabbed a handful of stalks, pulling them out of the way to see what it was that made the noise, hoping that he wasn't falling straight into a trap. 'What the hell could possibly be out here, and if it's a person, who the hell would be dumb enough to follow me? If they knew it was me, that is...' he thought, scanning the area behind the stalks for any signs of life. As he continued to search, he was struck in the side of the head by the rock and his head was tossed to the side. "Ow!" he exclaimed, then held a hand up to his head. "Fuuuuuuuuuck!" He looked harder now, not wanting to level the beautiful forest with his techniques, but dead set that he now would if he had to.

From the direction that the rock came a blur of gray clothing can be seen. It was worn by a small, dirty body that was rapidly running in the opposite direction of Michio.

"OH I DON'T THINK SO!" he called out, increasing his speed by accelerating the flow of blood from his heart to his legs and back, adding chakra to his movement. The form was fast and Michio seriously wondered if he'd be able to catch up. This made him feel like his attacker was a shinobi. If it was though, judging from the size, it was probably a genin. Regardless, he didn't want the Village to know about his presence until he got there.

Instead, he traveled closer and closer to where he thought the Village Hidden in the Rain might be. An hour into the travel, he was accosted once again by rocks, this time greater in number. "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" he bellowed, as he increased his hand speed by accelerating his blood and bringing up a dome of blood in order to deflect the rocks. But he kept a peep hole just in case the attacker showed themselves.
