The Wind country is marked by deserts and dry mountain ranges. The Wind Country is one of the larger ninja countries in the world, though it only borders Rain, River and several unnamed countries. Its western most borders are currently untraveled.

Oasis nodded as she took the little, well, note really with her name on it. She grinned at it for a bit "That technique... sounds kinda weird." she states sticking her tongue out at Hatsuma right before the technique began. Sure enough it felt really strange. She looked around her as the world seemed to melt away. In very short order she realized they were standing in a different place. Sure enough, they were at the outer border of Wind country where they could depart for their ultimate destination. "Wow... well that worked pretty well huh. Neat!" she chimes as she looked for a ride or something "We walkin to fire?" she questions after a moments pause. "Or is someone from the caravan going to provide transit?" she adds curiously.

"The caravan doesn't assist in any village affairs, we'll be walking there." Hatsuma stated bluntly. They had taken rides in many strange contraptions during their journeys but this would be a first for such a long trek. "This time you'll actually get a better view of the sights though, last time you had motion sickness for a majority of the ride." She commented remembering their trip from some time ago. They had really grown over the years but Hatsuma had a suspicion that Oasis might still have some troubles with locomotion. She probably find out sooner or later but for now they would work on hoofing it to fire country. Quote: Exiting the the Wind <-> Fire travel thread

Oasis sat atop the roof of her favorite building, the bath-house. Lightly kicking her feet staring quietly out at the horizon. Her trip with Hatsuma to fire country had been cancelled for some reason. She wasn't sure why exactly but she was now waiting for further communications from home to find out what was going on. She pulled the odd square blade she carried out in front of her and looked at it, the weapon still sealed in its interesting little scabbard. She ran a finger slowly over the smooth lacquered surface and sighed still having not figured the weapon out. She leaned back sliding the weapon back where it belonged before resting on her palms just staring up at the sky. "Hmm... What am I really doing?" she questions herself out loud as she was still contemplating the events of the chuunin exams trying to decide how she could grow stronger and better so that she could catch back up with Hatsuma.

Quote: wahmbulance !!NPC INTERVENTION!! wahmbulance Roku laid in wait for the two Genin who had just assaulted Hanako. The Chuunin had been instructed by Jin to shadow them to ensure that their mission went on smoothly. Unfortunately they couldn't even make it out of the village before there was some altercation with the Jounin. The Kazekage had warned that the volatile nature of the duo may probably lead them to violence, and sure Hanako had a superiority complex, but rules were rules. It was a crime to attack one's superiors, especially now that medicinal supplies were limited. The six-armed man waited until he could see the duo emerging from the canyon between the walls before he addressed them. "In the name of the Kazekage, stop right there. You have committed crimes against Sunagakure and her people. Your options are to turn back and turn yourselves in. Or i will have to bring you back by force. Your choice, but i would really hate to embarrass you further than you've embarrassed yourselves by your conduct."

Shinken looked at the six armed man and sighed. He was afraid something like this might happen when he sent the kid to take the Jounin back to the village.
"Look. We have a mission to complete. Take us in if you want, but let us get the mushrooms first. There are people that need that medication. Our Jounin challenged us to see what we could do, her emotions got out of hand and she ended up putting him in this condition." The uchiha said as he shrugged his shoulder to indicate Michio.
"I tried to stop her from going any further, but she wouldn't listen. She challenged me and I defended my fellow ninja. I gave her a chance to give up. This isn't the outcome I wanted in any sense of the word. She continued to come at me with the same technique that put Michio in this state, so I defended myself. I didn't mean for her to get so badly hurt. I just wanted to stop her from attacking me or my friend." Shinken hoped that his explanation would at least move the ninja to let him go and get the much needed medical supplies. He had attacked his Jounin, even if it was under her orders at first and in defense of another sand ninja the second time.

Roku folded his arms together, listening to the one known as Shinken speak with an impassive expression on his face. He sighed after the boy requested to let him continue with the mission, hating having to repeat himself. "The mission is of no consequence at this point." he said, opting out of filtering the raw nuisance in his voice. "Now you can choose to disregard my warning and continue your mission, but know that doing so is ill advised.""I observed the entire altercation up until you sent Hanako back with some random individual. I don't fault you for protecting yourselves, however the act of turning on, and wounding, a superior ranked shinobi is tantamount to insubordination." Roku stood motionless in the shifting sands, waiting to see what the duo would try next.

Shinken couldn't believe what he was hearing. The mission didn't matter anymore? How could he say that? Well if he was going to force the duo to go back to the village the deaths of his comrades would be on his six hands.
"Fine. I'll go. But if people die because they don't get the medicine it's not on my head." Shinken said. He hoped he could convince the Kage of what had transpired. This ninja didn't seem to care about the lives that hung in the balance in the slightest. It was just another example of how the sand village needed to change. They were all so callous, or sadistic.

"Enough of this already! Just turn around, go back the way you came, and be done with it! You're wasting my time. I have better things to do." Roku was already at the threshold of his patience. He drummed all twenty-four of his fingers against his forearms and tapped his foot. He didn't need this back and forth banter raising his blood pressure.

Shinken made a disgusted noise and turned around to head back to the vlliage. He would remember that shinobi, and his callous nature. The day he took the mantle of Kazekage, and he would, even if he had to do it by force, he would punish the shinobi that were callous, and apathetic, and he would strip those that were of a sadistic mind like his instructor of their ranks. It didn't befit a ninja to be cruel to their allies. Quote: Leaving back to sand village.

Quote: Arriving from Village Hidden in the Sand Michio had agreed to Shinken as he suggested that he and the Kaguya travel to the Grand Desert Market in order to peruse the merchandise that they had available. As a result, the two of them had traveled from the Village entrance to the outskirts of the Sand Village and were now on their way to the Grand Desert Oasis. Despite not having drank anything last night, Michio felt like literal crap. His limbs were shaking and his stomach was turning with every step. But he needed a set of ninja tools, so he'd grabbed his ryo and had hit the road after having breakfast. But now, he was regretting his decision immensely. Shinken looked over at his friend as the two of them began the long walk from the gates of the hidden village to the grand desert oasis.Michio didn’t look like he was doing very well. The young Uchiha was worried about his friend. He looked pale and he seemed to be wobbling slightly with each step. Still he kept silent for several hours until it looked as if Michio was going to collapse. “Are you Ok Michio?” Shinken asked with obvious worry in his voice. Michio hadn’t had anything to drink as far as the young Gennin could remember., though he couldn’t remember much of last night after he started drinking. Still this didn’t look like a hangover it looked as if his friend was sick with some kind of illness. He wondered for a moment if he should suggest the two of them head back to the sand village but then thought better of it. “Do you need some water?” Shinken asked as he proffered his cantine. The last thing that MIchio needed was to be dehydrated and sick at the same time. To his dismay Michio simply shook his head. “No I’ve got my own.” The kaguya said with a shaky voice. It wasn’t long before he turned to the side and began to throw up blood. Shinken’s eyes went wide and he sped over to Michio’s side. “Holy s**t man! Are you ok? What the ******** did you eat?!” Shinken said horrified as he saw the large puddle of blood quickly soaking into the sand. He didn’t have time to ask anymore questions, before Michio threw up again, and even more blood splashed onto the sand. This was far beyond the young Uchiha’s realm of expertise. The only thing he knew was that his friend was in dire straights. There was too much blood in that vomit to be anything non life threatening. With no help in sight he was forced to stand and watch as for all he knew his friend began to spasm and die. Not only that but if his friend died out here it would be his fault. He could have said something earlier, or not suggested that they leave the village. With each wave of blood Shinken’s heart sank further. He was going to be responsible for the death of his best friend, and though he couldn’t have predicted any of this he would always hold himself responsible. Michio had begun to vomit up blood, and it was a less than stellar experience. In fact, it was downright horrible. As the life giving liquid flowed out of his throat and past his lips in waves, it caused coarseness and irritation to his esophagus until it too began to bleed, adding to the flow. Finally, the blood stopped for a moment and Michio was able to open his one good eye to see that he had vomited up so much blood that his hands and knees were surrounded by the sand that had taken a red tint by absorbing some of the blood. He began to panic, and that tossed his stomach again, forcing him to vomit again. Along with the blood running out of his mouth, he could feel something dripping from his ears down to his chin. His nose burned as blood flowed from it. And when he tried to open his eye again, all he could see was red as the blood was leaking from his eyes as well. “Shinken...” he tried to say, but all that came out was the sound of gagging and sputtering. The whole world spun and Michio rolled onto his back, flopping into an area of the sand that the blood had not reached. His body began to convulse from the lack of fluid able to flow through his veins and despite the fact that the hot desert sun was beating down on his dark-colored clothing, the young Kaguya felt a chill all over his body. The veins all over his body became constricted and showed through his skin in a blackish color as the arteries, veins, and capillaries strained and squeezed themselves dry. Suddenly, he felt a new pain, one in each of his fingernails, and was barely able to look down to see that his nails had split away from his skin, leaking more of his blood all over the sand. The world then began to get dark as blood slid down the side of his face and his body became still. The first thought he had before he lost consciousness was how much he hadn't accomplished before he died. The second was 'Shisara just bought these clothes... she's gonna kill me...' And then he lost consciousness. -------------- “Michio....” a voice rang out in his head. “Michio.... wake up....”“What....?” he asked, unable to form words out loud, but in his head, he words rang loud. “Despite what you think... you're not dying.... this is just a change of skills...”Michio opened his eyes, his internal body still having both, and realized that he was in a dark room. Before him was a shining light coming from a floating glob of fluid. The fluid was red in color and it hung in midair. “Are... are you blood? I mean... are you made of blood?” “Yes to both. I am the blood that flows through your veins. I'm sorry for the worry, but in order for me to inhabit your body, I had to get rid of all of the blood you had previously. A Kaguya's genetics don't mesh with the genes of a Ketsueki.”“A... a what?”“A Ketsueki.”“What the hell is a Ketsueki?”“Well, it literally means blood, so think of yourself as now a blood person. In that I mean, you can manipulate blood. Specifically, your blood.” “No... I manipulate my bones. It's why I have claws.” “You used to be able to manipulate your bones. But no longer. Now, you control the flow of your own blood, both inside and outside of the body.”Michio stared incredulously at the floating blob before him as his brain tried to comprehend what he had just been told. “This is crazy. I'm inside my own head space while my body is dying... and I'm talking to a floating puddle of blood.” “YOUR floating puddle of blood.” the puddle corrected him, and he let out an exasperated sigh. “Okay, MY blood. Regardless, this is absolutely insane. How am I talking to my own blood about my genetics changing, or as you put it 'my skills changing'.” “That, I cannot tell you. What I can tell you is that you have been purged of all of your Kaguya genetic material, and that a new genetic code has replaced it. It's called Ketsueki. You are now capable of manipulating your own blood.” “How? How did this happen?”“It is a complicated process. One way is to simply be born into the Ketsueki bloodline. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case for you. Which means that you must have ingested the blood of a carrier of the Ketsueki bloodline's genetic material and you must have been genetically capable of supplying the bloodline with an apt supply of blood. As blood is made of bone marrow, it is highly likely that your previous ability to create and manipulate bones gave the Ketsueki genes an appropriate cultivation center for replicating the cells necessary. Although, it is unusual for it to have taken this long. You must have been fighting the virus off throughout the entirety of the night and well into the morning without even knowing it.” “Wait... you mean when I swallowed some of Enko's blood, I infected myself with this virus?” “If Enko is the last person whose blood you had ingested, then yes, it is highly likely that is the case.” “And what now? I'm a manipulator of my own blood now? How does that work?”“The Ketsueki genes present in the bloodstream are infused with chakra of the host. In this case, yours. As a result, focusing your blood is exactly the same as focusing your chakra.” “So I just focus on controlling my chakra and the blood flows accordingly, huh?” “It does, but only within your own body. To be used effectively, you must create an escape. You have been given a great opportunity, Ketsueki Michio. You are chosen, from all of the others who were given this chance and perished, to carry on the legacy of the Ketsueki.”“There are others like me? Where?”“I am merely a figment of your imagination, Michio. I cannot give you answers that you, yourself, do not have. Now I suggest that you cease with asking these questions. Katsuna Shinken, your Uchiha partner, is losing every inch of sanity he possesses as he watches you lie still. Perhaps you should wake up and tell him that you're not dead.”“Oh crap... Shinken...” “Wake up, Michio. You have great things in your future. Wake up.”------------- “WAKE UP!!!” Shinken screamed into his partner's face, his hands clasped on Michio's right shoulder and stomach. Michio's eyes fluttered open and then closed again as the bright light of the desert's sun “Ugh... good morning, Shinken.... what time is it?” he muttered, his head still spinning from the previous loss of blood. Shinken watched in horror as the black lines of Michio’s veins became apparent. With each drop of blood that spilled onto the sand Shinken felt his heart sink. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. They were supposed to become heroes, legendary ninja. As Michio croaked out the young Uchiha’s name he clenched his jaw tightly. He wasn’t going to let these be his friend’s last moments. When the Kaguya fell unconscious Shinken looked down at him and nodded to himself. “Don’t worry Michio. I’m not letting you die out here!” Shinken declared, his voice full of determination and grit. The young gennin bent down and hefted his ally onto his shoulder. Even as the blood poured down his back and his chest he didn’t give up hope. Michio was tougher than this, and he had to survive. He had Shisara to think about. She would never forgive Shinken if he didn’t at least try to save Michio. With every step he took the sweltering heat of the desert began to sap more and more of the young Uchiha’s strength. Still he carried on, even when he felt his legs were going to give out beneath him. Eventually something happened that scared him more than he thought anything could. Michio stopped breathing. Shinken threw him down onto the sand and began to pound on the Kaguya’s chest. The only thing that came from his lips was a foamy red substance. It took Shinken a moment to realize that Michio’s lungs had flooded with blood. For a moment he began to wonder what the hell could cause such a thing, and for just a single instant the young Uchiha wondered if it was contagious, but he soon threw off that thought. What was important now was to get Michio breathing again. It was all he could do to continue chest compressions in an attempt to force the blood out of his friend’s lungs. Eventually the older gennin coughed loudly and took in raspy breath. Shinken began to shake Michio violently. They were so close to the market, only half an hour away, the Kaguya just had to wake up, he had to be ok. They were almost in range of help. “WAKE UP! WAKE UP MICHIO!” Shinken shouted as he continued to shake his friend. Quote: +384 words Village to Country: 346/80 Country to Grand Desert:2,063/2000 Total word count: 4,070/xx
