"Come on, old man, you're starting to lose it." The brighter lion badgered as he led the duo a few paces ahead of the other. It wasn't often that the two got to do this like before. Since Ezekiel was a cub, he and his father would run to the boards and back to their den before passing out, long before the rest of the family woke up. "I ain't going to explain to mom that you passed out somewhere on the way home!"
"Tell her anything you want, but I'll be telling your mate that you lost to an older male in a race." Ger, the father, was getting older slowly but he showed great resilience, his fur did not dull nor did his soul fade in burning passion. Looking at his son, he felt pride swell in his chest. His only son had grown a great deal since he had left to seek out the Tianxia. Ezekiel was bigger, stronger, very handsome, and his manners proved that his uncle did very well to teach him the proper ways of adulthood. Not to mention Ezekiel was a father of a very large family himself. Ger could not help but smile.
The two slowly came up the boarder, the hill that overlooked the Outlands before taking a short break before going back. Both stood side by side, panting and chuckling among themselves. It had been many moons since they last did this and they were glad they had the opportunity. Neither have lost their stride or their competitive spirits. Ger was home again and this time he was staying home.
"I have to go visit the new royal family to inform them of my return," The elder spoke between inhales. Just returning, it would be best that the pride knew of his return, but he could not pass up seeing his only son. It was a surprise to see so many of his offspring around the pride lands and some still lingered within the large den that he passed to Ezekiel. Could only imagine the ones he heard of that traveled with the Goddess! "Who was the G-"
"Father... we have rogues coming." The red eyed male motioned to the distance as two figures seemed to be making their way to the Pride Lands. "Outlanders..."
------
Mat wasn't paying attention to his steps as he was lost in thought and his eyes focused on his mate. It was strange, but he did not think that coming back to his home would be this... intimidating? No, it was something else. Perhaps he was simply nervous to meet his older sister again...

Noyana, too, was oddly nervous, though she did everything in her power not to show it. She walked with a relatively loose but brisk stride that at least portrayed some sort of confidence- as if she belonged on the lands that she tread. However, some uneasiness could be seen in her face- Noy's eyes were tense , and her lips were pulled tighter than usual. The air seemed thicker than usual… It didn't help that she could feel Mat's stare on her, really… She didn't say anything at first, just turned to him, and gave a quick smile. "There shouldn't be any problems, right?" she asked, seeking some sort of comfort in the fact that they both seemed to feel uncomfortable.
Would they be seen as traitors- not to be trusted? How couldn't they be… She had left the Pridelands not only chasing her mate, but also because she had felt the throne had been unjustly given to the wrong lions. Would Tufah remember her? Was her mother still well? And her father? How ticked would Chane still be? She had left her twin behind in these lands, and she knew that he hadn't been happy about it. How many of them even still remained here? Honestly, she didn't know. Noy looked then to Usu, thereby passing on "the stare" to the next lion down the row.
Her son, sharing her own bright coat as opposed to Mat's more muted tones, walked more confidently besides both of them. He could only just remember the Pridelands, to be honest, so it's not like he had been the one to make a conscious decision to leave. Besides, he had turned his back on the Outlands with his brother, and as such, he figured he couldn't be counted as a traitor, right? More importantly…. Well, it had been dumb luck he had caught his parents when he did. Usu had struck it out of the Outlands in a sort of predictable rebellious phase, and been successful as a bachelor for quite a while. Given, he and Valse worked something like a team, whether they cared to admit it or not, but that was the single life as far as he was concerned. Having caused a good deal of "occurrences" in the roguelands, he had thought it would be a great time to visit his parents… And he had just so happened to decide this to coincide with their moving.
A discussion had led to the conclusion that the two brothers wouldn't mind too badly to join up with their parents again, at least within a particular pridal land… Certainly not to den anywhere near them, but the little bit of life he remembered from the Pridelands was that they were nearly as carefree as the roguelands, but with the added benefit of not having to search for other lions to entertain oneself with.
He felt his mother's stare, but also saw someone in the distance… "Doesn't look like we'll have much time before we find out," he chuckled, leaning to Valse more than Noy as he said this. He made eye contact with his brother with a quick mischievous grin. Things were about to start into action- how would Pridelanders take to four former Outlanders…?

"Welcome to the Pride Lands!" Ger called out to them. Ezekiel gave him a glance, bewildered by how welcoming he was. Then again, Ger was not around when the Outlanders had established themselves. But... it was the way of the pride to welcome any into their home and treat them fair. "What brings you to the Pride Lands?"
"We're returning." Valse answered plainly.
"I see, well, we will certainly have you talk to the King for acceptance, we could walk you back to Pride Rock," Ezekiel offered as he motioned over his shoulder. If his father was willing to be welcoming, he should be as well, right? He was not one to judge - no, it was not his place. A lion is a lion, if they seek a home, then they shall offer it kindly.
Mat nodded as he led his family into the Pride Land's boarders, acknowledging Ger's hospitality. "Wait, a second... You're Matishou." The oldest lion spoke causing Mat to jerk around and look at him in confusion. How did he know his name!? Ger's teal eyes turned back to the younger males and the female. "Yeah, you are. You're Kinari's boy."
"How do you know about me and what of my b*****d of a father?" Mat growled under his breathe as he stared at the older lion. The name haunted him. To even correlate him to that lion made him angry.
"Dad? What is he talking about?" Valse questioned as he came to Ger's side, looking at him. He did not seem questionable nor did he seem anger. In fact, Ger smiled a bit. What was going on?
Zeki tilted his own head. It seemed many of them present were confused.

Usu quickly quirked a brow, but the expression was wiped away as soon as it came. He had expected to run into little trouble- he hadn't expected to be welcomed so blatantly. Yeah, maybe things really were loose in the Pridelands. Usufii had little more to add to his brother's short answer than a curt nod, glancing from one gold-coat to the other. Their colors were quite common around here, he remembered… He wasn't particularly keen on meeting with the king, but he accepted it. His brow furrowed, however, when the stranger knew his father's name. Usufii was equally confused as his brother; their grandfather (on Mat's side) was scarcely mentioned, if ever. He lowered his head before shoulder level as his eyes darted from his parent's faces to the others. "And hey- if you know his name, isn't it fair that we learn yours?" he asked in a polite-enough tone, trying to move the subject (unsuccessfully) off of their grandfather. Usu caught sight of his mother…
Noyana's hairs stood on end at the thought of him… Kinari. She remembered having to take care of Mat in the aftermath of a run-in with him… What kind of lions were they allowing in these lands if they could spot Kinari's genes so readily? It was obvious that he knew of him. She had never seen Mat in such rough shape before that… Or since, honestly. Still, a quarrel of this sort was perhaps not the best way to get back into the pride. Actually, she was pretty sure of it. She was likely the most logical of her family here, in a situation like this, and was quick to swallow fear of the name and step in. "We can discuss this later," Noyana told Valse, hoping that he would get caught up in getting settled in and completely forget about it, so they wouldn't have to discuss it. Kinari was a hot-button topic for Mat, she really didn't want to have to go there.
Her son had a point- a fair information trade was in order. She shot Mat a look- hopefully to calm him down, and did her best to continue Usu's attempt to change the topic. "I'm Noyana, these are our sons, Usufii and Valse." She kept it relatively ambiguous by not naming which was which. If they wanted to be specific, they could be. She just hoped that being civil with these two wouldn't anger Mat after the male's comment… "Who are you two?" she asked with a head tilt.

"Ezekiel, and this is my father, Ger. He's also returning from a long journey that has taken him far from home for a long time," The large, gold furred, red maned male motioned to the slightly shorter male. "It is a pleasure to meet each of you," he bowed, shooting a smile to Noyana. He was not one to flirt with just any females, and those who were taken were strictly off his list, but that doesn't mean they were not to be treated special.
"Yes, Kinari is your father and my half-brother," Ger smiled happily, even beaming. Mat stared dumbfounded that this lion could speak so lightly of that demonic, murderous killer. The Pride Lander chuckle as he casually started walking. "Don't worry about him. He's under control and very far away. But I can see his coat in you, and he has gave passing mention of his filthy bloodline running through you. But I cannot see it. He's rather... well, he's not very well in the head."
"You mean to say he is a selfish, greedy, and lustful lion?" Zeki asked as he motioned the rest to follow his father. "You mentioned him before too when you spoke of your older brothers."
"Yes, he's under Sheng's care." Ger laughed with such innocent it sent shivers down Zeki's back. Sheng was the lion who was the most vicious. Normally, he is quite calm, but when he goes berserk.... he loses all inhibition and becomes on par with Kinari's cruelty and the brute force is ten fold compared. "He's kept at Tianxia, he will not bother you or your family again."
Valse was utterly confused. Zeki was slightly unnerved by his father's cavelier attitude about the situation that such dangerous lions are related to him. Mat was unconvinced.
"Mom, isn't your family here too?" Valse asked idly, trying to put this 'Kinari' talk out of his mind.

"Good to meet you, Ezekiel, Ger," Noyana said with a slight nod to both of them, her typical-of-a-Pridelander smile coming back to her muzzle. So these, it turned out, were some of Mat's relatives. Noyana didn't often think of the non-Tufah-related lions of Mat's family… She thought it was interesting that these ones were here. Noyana figured they must be quite confident in his containment, judging by the way they were talking. She looked to Mat to get his impression on this matter, but she could tell he was thinking the same as her: "That's all great and good… but is it enough?" She had never heard of Sheng, either, so this was not of much comfort to her… But, it seemed to be enough to placate Ezekiel and Ger, and… well, the last she'd seen of him had been quite a while ago. It apparently had to be good enough, right? She kept pace by Mat's side as they walked in. She couldn't discern through all of this Kinari talk what he felt about the two who were bringing them to the current king, but she knew she was actually… Quite happy to be "home."
One way or another, she felt pretty safe in the Pridelands. If nothing else, the shear number of lions was an excellent shield. Noyana started to pad forward, following the pair. Upon her son's question, Noy responded, "Yup! Most, anyway… Honestly, I've kind of lost track of them… I have a twin brother, you know. When we left, he was still a Pridelander, but I don't know if he'd be willing to speak to me anymore… He wasn't particularly happy with me for leaving. But such is life!" She said with a bright chuckle, though it was clear that this did concern her quite a bit. "I know that a bunch of my siblings have dispersed… Plus, you know Aunt Mjrn from the Outlands… I don't know if she was planning on coming back here or not." Mjrn was probably Noyana's closest relative that the boys knew. "I should introduce you to all of your Pridelander family on my side- plenty of us are here."
Usufii had a lot to mull over… Family-wise. It seemed his grandfather wasn't exactly… normal. Of course, nobody's family is normal, his least of all. But still, he gathered clues from Ger and Zeki's words. Valse turned the conversation over to mom's side of the family- yes, he knew of more of them, though most he hadn't met. He remembered Aunt Mjrn and tried to remember if he knew her destination- he didn't. "I'd like to meet grandma and grandpa" he said with a nod. "Do you know them?" He asked the golden pair, "Their names are Na'Ilah and Mika'Il?"

Ger shook his head solemnly. "I did not return to the Pride Lands until I was an adolescent, a bit younger than yourselves. After I had Ezekiel, here, I only spent seasons before I had to travel to visit my older brothers. We had to determine what to do with Kinari. We knew what he was doing and we couldn't let him wander around like he did. I apologize for anything he's done to any of you," he continued walking without the need to turn around to speak to his fellow felines.
"Apologize? Apologize for what he did to me is nothing compared to what I'd do to him when I find him again!" Mat growled as he prowled behind his uncle. He had long since wanted to rend that lion, rake the fur from his flesh. His eyes glowed with anger and Ezekiel could see it. Valse could see it. Here he had thought his father was this perverted old fart bag... but he did belong in the Outlanders at one point...
Ger stopped, which caused the others to do the same. Turning with a smile at Mat, he chuckled.
"Sheng'kou, the king of the Tianxia's military pride, Trig, our oldest and strong brother, and myself took care of him. In fact, I took care of him, on my own. Should you feel the need to harm my brother, nephew I will assure you, I won't be so kind to anyone who wished to cause bad blood within this family, do you understand?"
Mat, dumbfounded yet again, nodded slowly. The smile on his face was a false image behind what he could imagine a powerful lion.
"Good. Kinari won't be coming back, he has a high rank within the Tianxia and he gets what he wants, for the most part, as long as he obeys. Besides, he won't be going anywhere as long as the God we placed upon him doesn't slack off. So you can be rest assured that you're all safe in the Pride Lands." Still smiling, the lion turned back to continue down the worn path.
Zeki stood beside Mat and Valse, staring at his father as he put distance from them. His father was insane, he was sure of it. Strong and brave, but surely insane. "Uh-"
"Yeah, lets leave it at that, don't want him to turn around again..." Valse said as he slowly stalked after the older male. Mat gave a huff before continuing himself.

Noy piped up as well, though not nearly as vehemently as her mate. "He had caused some trouble…" Noyana would likely never forgive the male either. She knew better than to try to "protect" Mat, by this point in her life. (Standing beside him as equal would be the best she could do in a fight,) but he was still her mate, and she would still be defensive. Kinari had proven, in the past, to be a threat to those she held dear… A crime not easily forgiven. However, unlike her mate… She personally didn't seek out any kind of tangible vengeance. Probably because one: she doubted she could carry out said vengeance, and two: she'd end up getting in more trouble than she had started with. What came next, on Ger's part, was somewhat unexpected.
Just like that, it had become apparent to both Noy and to Usu that Ger was, in fact, related to Mat. Kinda distantly, since he managed to smile during all of that, but still related. Noy would have laughed, if the atmosphere hadn't been more tense. She nodded too, just in case her pint-sized comment had been found offensive as well.
Usu simply exchanged a quick brow quirk to his brother, having never seen such a reaction in his father before. He's being guarded by a /god?/ the young lion thought to himself. "Yeah, let's. So you've done a bit of traveling, Ger?" Usu said, not sure whether or not he should really be addressing this lion at the moment. He took a shot, though. "We've been doing some traveling ourselves," he said, tilting his head towards Valse. "Yup- did a little soul-searching…" he snickered at the memories.

"Quite, I was raised by a leopard and his lioness mate. Step-brothers to a leopon litter. Fun stuff that was until I began missing the Pride Lands. Another story, another time," Ger spoke, not feeling the need to turn around to speak to those following him, his teal eyes looked up past the horizon to the clear blue skies above them. "The beach is where Trig lives, as well as my granddaughter, so I have to visit them from time to time. Sheng'kou lives far away to the north among the mountains where the Tianxia prides reside, I wouldn't recommend going there without permission or any time of recommendation or you won't get any safe passage." Ger travels a lot and during certain phases of the moon, he tends to disappear without notice. Zeki believed it was to go some place to meet the brothers but it was never his business so he was never concerned.
"We're coming up to Pride Rock now," Zeki announced as he raced a few paces ahead, motioning to the stone structure over his shoulder. "If you all don't mind, I have to go see the lady if she wants to go hunting. So I will see my way out and wish you a fine welcome to the Pride Lands." The large lion smiled. With a dip of his head, he had headed off.
Mat watched as his ... cousin had returned home. He was beginning to notice that a large size was a common trait among this family... that would be the only thing he liked. He smirked to himself knowing that Kinari was skipped in that regard. Turning to his mate, he nodded. "Shall we go to see my sister?..."

"Sounds like you're pretty busy with travel," Usu said to Ger, despite his not turning around to address him. It would have been counter productive, he supposed, since their primary goal was to get to Pride Rock. He remembered it well enough also… "I've been to the beach, but not in any Pride's territory," he said. "It must be nice."
Apparently, when Ger spoke of his family members, they were Usu's family as well. Odd how your relationships tended to grow, wasn't it? He hadn't even had that many cubs. He thought.
"Thank you for the escort in!" She called after the pair of them. "Hmmm… Ezekiel and Ger, apparently family!" Noy said to Mat. "We should, certainly," she said, but happy and a bit anxious to meet up with Tufah again, after all of these years. She did hope… that she wouldn't be mad at Noy. The way Chane inevitably would be. Childhood friends and twin brothers were separate entities, though. She let Mat lead the way, Usu in tow.
