“Oh please, oh please! Let me go! KIP! HEEEELLLPP!” The little genet squealed from the talons of the bright blue bird. Lina knew that Kip couldn’t see her to follow, but he sure could follow her voice. She had been taking him all over the pride lands, so he should know the terrain by know. “KIP!” her attention turned towards the blue bird. “Oh please bird, let me go! That lion down there, he can’t see! I’m his eyes, take pity on me! Oh please! Oh please!”

What they had been doing for most of the day was just boring ‘training’ exercises, as Lina called him. When they had managed to take a break, Kip was relieved. As much as he adored his new companion, she was a lot of work. She made him talk to other lions, made him wander out of the den during the day, and even was trying to teach him to hunt. However, Kipofu’Bakhti was rather bad at the latter of the three. Being sightless did not make a the best hunter in the world, it was actually the complete opposite.
Linaeve would actually lead Kip right to a carcass though that would have been left behind by others. It taught him valuable lessons on how to scavenge things.
But right after today’s lesson, the quick sound of bird wings flapping, and lifting his screaming friend away was something that made him jump to his feet. His ears perked, listening to her shouts as he tried following the best he could. If only he could see…that was the key. He tried not to trip over his own feet as he made his way after the two. He had let his first companion get injured, he was certainly not going to do the same for this one! ‘Come on, Lina…keep talking.’ He thought to himself, trying to mute out the heavy footsteps as he ran.

“WILL YOU SHUT UP ALREADY.” The bird squawked, carrying it’s prize to her bond. “My god I should just drop you now just to shut you up.”
“But..but!” Lina whimpered, but was hushed. She didn’t want to be dropped.
“That’s better.” Kalani snapped, gliding down to the pale yellow lioness that would be waiting for the meal. Katika better appreciate this, because the high pitched squeals that Kala was enduring were AWFUL.
Spotting the blue bird and the successful catch, Katika’peponi smiled. She had already been in the lands for a few days, but had not met that many other lions. After the interrogation that she had endured to get into the lands, she was rather happy for the peace and quiet. That was, until you could hear the screaming from the caught creature from a mile away! Kalani did her best though, so Kati was proud of her nonetheless.
When the bird landed at the feet, her light eyes turned to her bond. “It’s not like you Kalani, to bring it back alive.” She stated, referring to the small genet.

“Yeah well, when there is another lion around, it makes things a little more difficult.”
“Another lion you say? Hope you didn’t take his---“
“Lina!” Kipofu shouted.
“KIP, straight ahead, lioness and bird!”
“Silence you.”
“I take it this was the lion you had taken the meal from…Kala?”
The bird rolled her eyes. “Gee…How’d you guess. Come on, let’s just take it somewhere else. The lion can’t see by the looks of his eyes. He won’t be able to follow.”

“Wait. Please! She’s my guide.” Kipofu neared the three creatures, out of breath. Luckily he was able to follow, or else his little friend would be a goner. “Please don’t eat her…Please…We can lead you a better meal if you wish.”
Kalani turned to stare at Katika. She wasn’t honestly considering letting their hard caught meal go because someone just said that it was ‘their’ guide. “You aren’t going. Kati I know that look…Man…See if I ever scavenge for you again.” The dark blue bird huffed.
“Let her go, Kala.”
“…” The avian did as she was told.
Instantly Lina ran to Kipofu’s feet, clinging to his front paws, glaring at the bird. “Mean bird.”
Even though Kipofu couldn’t see who was in front of him, he knew from Lina’s word that it was another lioness. And, of course the avian who must have been her traveling companion as well. “Thank you,” the blind male said with a smile. “I lost my previous guide from an attack like this…I…couldn’t imagine not being able to protect another one.”
“Yeah..yeah..whatev---ow!” Kalani squawked as her tail was pulled, a few feathers floating down. “Why did you do that?!”
“Be nice.” Katika hissed, causing Kalani to fly up into a nearby tree. She was not a happy camper at the moment.

“I’m sorry about her,” bright blue eyes stared up into the tree where her angry bird companion now resided. “I’m Katika.” Out of habit, the lioness held out a paw, as if to shake the other male’s. But, when he did not move an inch to do so, she lowered it, frowning. That’s right…Kala had said something about him not being able to see. With a closer look, Kati could see the light pink scar running across the male’s eyes, and the thick cloud that filmed over them was also something that couldn’t be missed.
“It’s not polite to stare,” Linaeve stated matter-of-factly, still rather upset by the whole ‘I’m going to eat you’ ordeal.’
“I’m sorry I didn’t…”
Kipofu tilted his head towards his companion. “I don’t mind, really.” Kipofu said with a smile. “I’m use to it,” he gave a small shrug. He was sure all the lions he had met before had stared at his eyes before, this was something that was no different. “Are you…apart of the pride?”

Katika nodded, but kicked herself in doing so.
At the silence, Kipofu sat, waiting for Lina to speak of her actions.
“You know, Kip, you really should introduce yourself since she has already told you her name.” The young genet was wise. She observed things that Kipofu could not.
“…Right, sorry, I’m Kipofu’Bakhti!” He introduced with a smile.
“Good boy,” Lina squeaked, petting his paw. “She nodded when you asked if she was in the pride, by the way.”
“Yes, I’m sorry,” Kati eyed the small creature. “And thank you miss…?”
“Lina is good.”
“…Lina it is. I haven’t been here for a while..but I did meet with the one called Skan Kanati.” The yellow lioness said with a smile. “He has granted me permission to stay with the…bird clan, I think it was. It works out good, considering Kalani and I have been together for a while now.” She smiled at her bird, who returned the glare.

“That thing has a name?” Lina scoffed, flickering her gaze towards the avian. “Hmph.”
Kipofu ignored the genet, staring blankly in the direction of the female. “Bird clan? Me too.” Kipofu said proudly. “I can show you…”
“Ahem.”
“…we can show you around sometime if you would like! Lina knows where all the good hunting grounds are! And sometimes they are god for scavenging as well.”
Katika smiled at the male, even though he couldn’t see her. “I’d like that. Kalani and I could get to know the lands more too, RIGHT KALANI?” Kati shouted at the end.
The dark blue bird rolled her eyes, flying higher into the tree.
“Heh, she’ll get over it. So…where should we head first?”
Even though Lina did not like the avian, she could get use to the lioness. Plus, if she was a buddy to her, that would make the avian companion jealous. Already Lina didn’t like the bird, and this would be like icing on the cake. “Well, you know,” Lina began, “I know this…perfect place all three can go to. She can come to, but she is throwing a hissy fit over there…”
“FINEFINE. I’M GOING.” Kalani squawked, flying down to land right next to Katika, successfully scaring off Lina. The avian would not let some little pipsqueak run her out. She would have to make sure to keep a close eye on her.
"Off we go then!" Lina led the way, Kipofu following her by slightly nudging her tail.
Katika glanced to Kalani before smiling. "Welcome home?" She said, following the two, the bird gliding in tow.
