Tag was pleased with himself. General Painite's plan had been well-executed, with only a few hiccups from the arrival of the actual Senshi. His coverage of the incident was likely to receive great attention as he was an eye witness to events with footage of the incident as it went down. It would certainly help him in his career - both within Channel 6 News and within the Negaverse. He could only hope that Painite, Zinkenite, Tanzanite and others were able to see his performance.
If that wasn't enough positive news, his mother's apartment was nearly done with its renovations, meaning she would be finally moving back out of his apartment within the week! She had been there for nearly a month - and nearly a month too long. Sure, there were the occasional moments where he enjoyed her company, but for the most part he wished for to be gone. She was a burden, cruel to him and one of the few people in the world who knew just how to get under his skin and shatter his confidence.
Their relationship had always been strained; she wasn't exactly the most maternal woman. In his childhood she had always been far more concerned with herself and her affairs with men, leaving the upbringing of her son up to an endless stream of nannies as they moved across the country nearly a dozen times. Whatever attention he did receive from her was typically cold or negative, expressing disappointment even in his accomplishments.
Nonetheless, she was his mother, and he supposed that stood for something. At least, she certainly knew how to manipulate his guilt into believing it meant something.
She had actually watched his broadcast that day, and when he returned to the apartment that evening she even expressed her concern for his safety. It was unusual for her, to be so caring.
It was nearly midnight, and the two of them were still awake, eating leftovers she had heated up in the microwave and sipping on chilled glasses of white wine. After what she had assumed to be a long day of surviving a terrorist attack, she was doing her best to treat her son.
"Thanks," he said at one point in the middle of their meal.
"For what?" she questioned, her face expressing dread of a sentimental conversation approaching. "For dinner? Please, you act like I never made you a dinner before. You paint me to be such a terrible mother when really you were such a needy child."
Ah, there was the mother he knew.
"Uh-huh. Sure. Thanks again," he said, scooping a forkful of spaghetti into his mouth.

He didn't know if the place had cameras, but he wasn't willing to bet it didn't. So for that reason, the blond-haired civilian form of Sailor Salar approached the apartment building where Tag Swagger lived. Seeing it, he wasn't much impressed; you'd think someone as stupid, beastly and egotistical would be living in a penthouse far above his means that he paid for with the money he fleeced from innocent old ladies.
Liar. Idiot. Hadn't he seen the bows and skirts ripped off those Negaversers? Had he willingly ignored it? No, he'd just sent the cameraman clear before it could even accidentally catch a senshi doing anything good. A real senshi, that is, because the Negaversers had been obvious bastards, they didn't even wear white and everyone knew senshi wore white.
Salar stopped in front of the callbox, perused the names. Konstantin, Ivan wasn't it. Petrescu, Andelov, also not it. But between Konstantin, Ivan and Petrescu, Andelov was Swagger, Tag.
He very deliberately mashed his thumb on the button and held it for longer than strictly necessary.

TTZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTT.
"Who the hell is that?" she bemoaned as Tag wiped his face with the napkin and rushed to the callbox, pressing the button to allow the visitor into the building before even checking the monitor to see who it was. He only caught a quick glimpse, spotting yet another teenage male paying a visit. First Zac - General King Zinkenite - and then Alex - Lieutenant Benitoite - had paid a visit. Who was next? Which male Negaverse agent was this? Was it Alunite? Hematite? Uranophane?
"Its someone for business," Tag explained with a lie. "We might need some privacy."
"Very well," she said, taking the dishes to the sink in the kitchenette. She looked at the dishes in the sink, debating cleaning them, realized she had no clue how to properly clean them without a maid, and left them sit in the sink. "I see how it is, have your mother cook you food and then toss her aside once other plans come along."
She moved into Liam's empty bedroom, allowing her son the privacy that he had requested while Tag waited for his guest to arrive.

Salar henshined up in the elevator, the ribbons and electric sparks dying away as he exited the elevator. The smell of ozone lingered as he passed to the door, and he paused for just a moment.
Really he had to do it. No one else would dream of it, but he'd had a proper education and knew the best way to take care of liars. Kicking a** was second nature, right? Senshi were space warriors, right? He didn't knock, he didn't even think about that. One well-placed kick near the doorknob left a deep hole; the second kick knocked the door wide open.
"Hi, Mr. Swagger," he said, starting the charge stage of his attack, electricity crackling between his hands. "I really, really love your show."

Tag's jaw fell agape as his door was kicked wide open by a ******** Senshi. He wanted to power up - defend himself and fight, but he couldn't risk giving up his identity to this Senshi. He couldn't risk his reputation being lost forever, it was far too valuable to him. Instead, he had to defend himself as a civilian.
He grabbed a knife from the counter separating the kitchenette from the main room and wielded it before him.
"Don't come any closer, terrorist," he spat. He was afraid, and it was obvious. "Your group already destroyed a town meeting, caused a dining room to collapse, nearly killed me. Haven't you caused enough terror today? Do you have no soul?"
The door to Liam's bedroom opened slightly as his mother peered to the action with one eye. She was quiet, aside from a soft gasp of terror.

Actually, the idea of someone being actively afraid of him was really nice. Salar eyed the knife with some trepidation, but he'd be stronger and faster than some civilian who was probably on the wrong side of forty. Knife or no knife, Tag Swagger probably wasn't enough threat for him to really be in any danger. Still, sometimes people got lucky--so the blond senshi started the charge period of his attack.
"It wasn't us," he said, voice edging just on this side of too damn loud. He didn't really care at this point because he also knew that he could probably get away fast enough that only the dead man would speak to his presence in that room, ever. "It was the Negaverse, as people have been explaining for weeks. They didn't even get all the cues right, someone was wearing a blue bodice."
Salar had not yet noticed Tag's mother.

"The Negaverse?," he spat, acting dumb. He couldn't admit to his knowledge of what the Senshi was speaking of. He couldn't admit that he was Lieutenant Osumilite of the Negaverse, and was one of the participants in the fiasco. "I don't know what you're talking about. What Negaverse? You're ******** crazy. If the Negaverse are whatever the hell are trying to protect us from your type of scum then the more power to them."
He took a step back, away from the Senshi and grabbed a phone on the wall, still wielding the knife pointed towards the intruder.
"I will call the police, terrorist," Tag threatened. "Now get out of my damn apartment, get out of my damn city, get off my damn planet!"

Whether he wanted to admit it or not, it seemed like showing his Nega self might be the only way for Tag to come out of this alive--at least, if the frankly terrifying expression of rage on Salar's face was any clue. Or the electricity starting to crackle between his hands. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," he said, feeling the numbness that came attendant with his power spread up his arms. "They're the ones who blew up that building, not us. Sure sounds like a defender of Earth and civilian justice."

"You blind, brainwashed Senshi!" he screamed. First, he tossed the phone at the Senshi - but alas, it was on a cord so merely swung backwards seconds later. However, the motion could have provided a distraction as he ran forward with the knife, ready to lunge it into the Senshi's chest.
"Tag, no!" his mother screamed, rushing out of the bedroom and into the fray.

Blind? Brainwashed? This seemed very ridiculous to Salar, because he would have characterized Tag as the blind and brainwashed one in this equation. He laughed at the attempt to throw the phone, was ready to electrocute the s**t out of this stupid, stupid man--
Except then he was distracted by a woman's scream, and the shimmering arc of lightning went so far wide even he was amazed. Salar stopped moving when he felt the jarring sensation up his arm that meant the attack had made contact with a target. The old woman was not going to live, he knew that right away, because it'd been a direct hit, and he stood stock still, expression slack with horror.

Tag's mother convulsed as the electric shock rippled through her body, turning her into a limp, lifeless corpse animated only by the electrons frying her body until the electrons cooled and her body fell to the floor like a rag doll. Tag's eyes widened and his mouth fell agape. He was overwhelmed with emotions - fear, anger, hatred, sadness, regret, relief...
His blood boiled.
"You have no idea what you've just done," Tag said. He closed his eyes, sealing in the tears as he began to shift forms. Corruption overcame him magic undressed him before the Senshi's eyes in a dark glow, fading to reveal him in a gorgeous power suit - now as Captain Osumilite. "You won't live another day, Senshi."
He violently thrusted forward to tackle the Senshi against the wall and attempted to press his hand into his chest, to get a grip of his starseed.

No, Salar knew what he'd done. He wished he could undo it, but he couldn't, and he knew if he got out of this alive (he didn't know if he wanted to get out of this alive) he wouldn't forget what abusing his powers could do.
Luckily, Osumilite solved that problem for him. Salar, stunned by his own power--the kind he hadn't even known he had--offered no resistance to the toss against the wall, and by the time he reacted to the hand in his chest the Negaverser already had a hand around his starseed.
If he'd had a moment, he might have texted what he had just seen. Tag Swagger was a Negaverser!
He did not have that moment. Salar convulsed, the pain of the corrupted hand in his chest overcoming any ability to think he might have had.

Osumilite's hand lingered on the Senshi's starseed for a moment as he stared into the b*****d's eyes. The blonde lieutenant's eyes were soaked with tears as he gripped tightly onto the seed and gave a light tug to it.
"Good bye you son of a b***h," he said as he ripped the thing out of the terrorist's chest, letting the limp body fall to the floor in a pile of its blood, lit up by the glowing energy of his soul, now resting in Osumilite's hand.
And that was only the beginning of his night.
