The day had nearly worn down by the time Ankara came to a stop, her paws heavy from walking through the day. The sun’s heat had done well in draining her of energy, though she had manged to ignore it for a time and press on. Now that the day was nearly over she was finding the cooling air to be finishing the sun’s job. Weariness was setting in, but a low rumble from her stomach kept her moving, if only for a bit. As tired as she was she found hunger had the upper hand here. The dull pain in her belly was at least helping to keep her from simply rolling over and falling asleep out in the open. if she couldn’t find a quick meal perhaps she could at least find a suitable place to sleep for the night.

The day had been spent away from his sibling. Mohombi stretched as he walked through the drying tall grass that surrounded the area that him and his brother shared. Who knew where his sibling was though. Orange orbs scanned the distant horizon of the lands in front of him, searching for movement. There. A herd of zebra were traveling though. "Lunch." He whispered, his sandpaper tongue coming out to lick the fur around his mouth at the thought. Not over thinking it, he moved out, making his way over to the herd, being careful to not startle them on his way.
It was just his luck though that a cheetah on the otherhand had decided that they looked good to them as well and chased off after them before he had even gotten close enough to attempt one of his own. Cursing under his breath, the adult lion sulked back towards the pile of rocks that him and his sibling called their home sweet home.

Another set of eyes had fallen on the zebra heard as Ankara was watching them as well, crouched in the grass and eying them hungrily. Just her luck though that before she could even make a move to try to catch one that a cheetah raced forward, chasing the herd off and dashing any hopes of a meal she had. That herd was certainly not an option any longer, so she woul just have to find something else. Ankara stood slowly, letting out a deep, drawn-out sigh. It figures she wasn’t going to be able to get an easy meal, and she was not looking forward to going to sleep hungry if she couldn’t find anything.
As she left her hiding spot i the grass she saw some distance off movement. It appeared to be a male lion, though she wasn’t sure from the distance if it really was, or perhaps there wasn’t anythign at all. Hunger might have been playing tricks on her mind, but whether it was someone or not she was going to find out anyways. If it was perhaps they had food to share, or knew a good place to get some. Ankara put on a burst of speed, not wanting to lose the possible illusion. “Hey, you! Wait up!” She called after him, slowing down slightly to catch her breath and hoping she had been heard.

The tan-maned lion's ears swiveled back. Curious, he thought he had heard something calling to him. Dismissing it as the scampering beasts in the backgrounds playing tricks on his ears. Though there it was again, the second bit asking him to wait. This time Mohombi turned his head, eyes looking over the blurred black and white background, finding another tanned figure in the mess of it.
There was another feline out here other then his brother and him?! The disappointed frown on his face morphed into a toothy smile as Mohombi trotted back towards the fleeing animals. "Hello there! I don't suppose who know who just ruined my hunt, do you?"

Ankara slowed further, down to a slow walk, as the male turned towards her. Not only that but he also spoke. His hunt? She turned her gaze towards the zebra herd that was quickly moving away from the pair in to the distance, whether the cheetah had managed to catch him meal was uncertain from this disnatce as she couldn’t see it’s form amongst the hooved beasts. “i’m afraid I don’t. I was eying them myself for a meal so I guess we both lost out.”
Ankara looked back at the lion. “Are you from around here? I don’t sppose you might know where I could find an easy meal here, would you?” The sentence was emphasized with a loud growl from her stomach and a lop-sided grin. She felt a bit foolish asking about food, but she had been so focused on moving forward that she hadn’t stop earlier in the day to find a meal, which was not coming back to bite her in the tail.

"Ugh, stupid cheetah keeps messin' up out hunts. I'm about ready to go over there and give him a piece of my mind...Assuming I could catch him." Mohombi rolled his eyes, sighing off to the side before he turned his attention back to the lioness.
"You could say that I'm from around here." A brow raised not only at the question she brought to him but also at the growl of her stomach. Laughter rumbled out of his mouth at the sound. "A quick meal? I don't think that even exists out here, unless you're talking about a gazelle. They're pretty quick and they are a decent meal." Of course the tan lion was trying to crack a joke, even if it was a pretty bad one.

Ankara would have been quite amused to see the male lion chasing after a cheetah, yelling after it about running off his prey and ruining hunts. A small, almost forced chuckle escaped her maw at the males attempt of a joke. It wasn’t completely bad, but Ankara’s sense of humor at the moment was pretty much buried beneath her hunger. Her gaze shifted around to scan the horizon, searching out any possible meal she could find. “Well I guess I will just have to keep looking for a meal then.” A sigh escaped her as she turned back to face the male, a lopsided grin on her face. “Maybe I should just follow the buzzards, they are sure to find something.” A hint of jest was mixed in her voice, but at this point she was startnig to actually consider it as an option.

"Of course you'd find something; skeletons. The buzzards around here eat too fast for their own good." Mohombi grinned widely, proud of himself for making her laugh, okay chuckle, if even a bit. He tossed his mane back towards the direction of the tree that he and his brother called home. "Well..." The lion looked back towards her, smiling, "We may have some bits of food left if you want me to check for you."

Ankara sighed lightly. Of course they did, it was just her luck to find a place with rude cheetahs, and buzzards who made sure there were no leftovers fast. It’s not like she could find a place where all the prey was too fat to run, that would be far too much a parasdise for ehr to ever come across. She had almost resigned herself to another day of walking hungry, sleeping hungry, and then continuing the next day when the male offered her food. Her stomach growled at the mere mention of a possible meal, and she had to stop herself from immediately accepting. If food was so scare she couldn’t just take theirs. She was a stranger here after all, this male hardly knew her, or rather didn’t at all. Ankara looked curiously in the direction the male had indicated. “While the offer is quite kind I would hate to take all your food.” Another growl from her stomach cut in mid-sentence, making her grin sheepishly. “Though I certainly wouldn’t say no if you insisted.” She hoped it didn't seem to forward of her, but her stomach was winning the argument with her brain.

"Pft," Mohombi looked down to his belly, which was starting to hang a little lower then he remembered it being last. "Sambi and I could probably stand to lose a few pounds. I don't want the zebra being able to outrun me next time I get a chance at them." He looked down to her stomach and smiled, "Yeah, you could use some food. I'll go check to see if we still have a flank that Sambi hasn't scarfed down. Wait here." Flashing a quick smile he turned and jogged back towards his home.
