Sayoko woke up with the warm sun heating her face; she blinked her eyes trying to adjust to the light. She got up and looked around, today was the day that she changes just who she was and how she behaved. Since she had been out of her parent’s so called nest, it seemed that no one wanted anything to do with her because of her nasty personality. In her mind, she had no real idea about why she was so nasty and mean to others but she wanted to have friends and be able to be a lover to someone. The thought saddened her that she might never be able to settle down and have children because of her personality and her behavior. Her mother would be thrilled to have grand children from her and her sister, and it wouldn’t happen unless she straightened up.
Her soft green eyes scanned the area of the lush grassy field to see if anyone was around, she wanted to apologize to everyone she hurt. After getting rejected by every male she hit on or flirted with, she knew that it was time to change her ways because she is tired of being alone. Yoko swished her tail as she walked slowly to the water and she looked down at it as if it could see into her soul and tell her what needed to be changed first. Her soft black hair fell in front of her eyes and that only made it worse for her, she felt even sadder because she knew she was beautiful but no one wanted to be around her. She had her father’s beautiful black hair, even if it didn’t have the purple tint to it, she was happy to have his color hair. Her mane is braided just like her mother’s and she’s proud to wear it because it reminds her of her mother’s warm nature. Her colors and markings was a mix of her mother and father’s stripes and vines that decorated their coat.
She admired herself in the water for just a few seconds more, but then she couldn’t wait any longer to start her journey that would change her, she got her some water to drink and then decided the best way to travel would be the air. With a single thought, her pink and purple wings stretched out and lifted her off the ground. As they flapped down against the ground, the grass seemed to bend and sway with the wind being created from her wings. She closed her eyes and smiled as her body moved farther and farther away from the ground and higher and higher into the warm air. Once she was in the air, she had no real idea to start but figured that the mountains in the distance would be as good of a place as any to reflect on her personality and behavior.
Within what seemed like hours, she was in mountain air, it was a little thicker than what she was used to but she braved it and landed on the ground in front of the mountains. “Hello, is anyone here?” She wanted to make sure that she was alone in the peace and quiet. However, she wouldn’t get peace and quiet today because a strange soquili appeared almost from nowhere. “Hello, what brings you here young one?” It was an old gray haired soquili, silver in color with strange black markings on her body. The old one had gentle blue eyes, a gentle smile and a sweet tone to her voice when she spoke. “I am here to reflect and change myself.” Sayoko had no real idea what to call the old mare and didn’t want to be rude since she was here to change herself after all. “Well you came to the right place, I hope you succeed.” Before Sayoko could say anything else to the old mare, she had turned around and left Sayoko by herself.
Within a moment, Sayoko felt completely alone, she almost wished that the old mare would return and keep her company but something told her she would see the mare again. Her soft green eyes scanned up the side of the mountain and realized that she would be in for a long climb but wanted to reach a safe height to make sure she wouldn’t be disturbed. She saw a sort of ramp leading up to a path on the mountain side, it was a little cold but she didn’t mind it too much. Yoko tucked her wings against her body trying to keep a little warmer. Her wings being close to her body helped just a bit but it wasn’t a huge improvement. Her mind wandered about how exactly she was going to change but when she was in nature she felt so at peace she hoped this would calm her enough to think things through.
It seemed to take her hours to reach a decent height, but once she found a little cave in the side of the mountain, she knew it was meant just for her. She ventured into the cave, it was a little warmer because it blocked out the wind that would blow through your body, and it was so cold. Yoko lay down in the semi-warm cave and closed her eyes. It was time to think about everything that she had done to others and how they had reacted to her behavior. Within her thoughts, she heard a strange noise and when she opened her eyes, the strange mare from before was standing in front of her.
“What ails you so young one?” The old mare decided it would be best to just ask instead of waiting for the pink, purple and black mare with the strange markings to speak to her. “I am a horrible person, I flirt with every stallion I see and not care for other’s feelings when I speak hurtful things.” Sayoko had to think for a few minutes before she could actually supply the mare with what she believed to be the right answer. “And why do you speak such harsh words?” Sylvia was trying to be as understand as she could possibly be, she had never met someone who claimed to speak ill words but be sweet to her.
“I don’t know really, I used to get much joy from hurting others, but lately no one wants to befriend me at the very least.” Sayoko was sad when she spoke the words; she knew it shown because the old mare frowned at her. “I see.” Sylvia had no real idea on how to help the young mare; she was indeed too young to be so bitter. “Young one, do you truly want to change?” The blue eyed mare figured the best way that the young one could change is if she took her under her wing. “Yes I do.” Sayoko didn’t hesitate to answer her question. “Then I shall take you under my wing, and in time you will be a lovelier being than you was before.” Sylvia smiled happily at the mare, she had confidence that she could shape the pink mare into a better person.
With the deal lingering in the air, Sayoko stood and followed the other mare out into the cold mountain air. The pair made it back down the mountain and Sylvia showed Sayoko just where it was she had been staying. There was a larger cave around the side of the mountain and the old mare had made it her own home. “You can call me Sylvia child and this will begin day one of your lessons.” Sylvia smiled at the mare as she disappeared into her large cave; she knew the pink one would follow. Sayoko had no choice but to follow the old mare into the cave, it was warm and it would make her a better being. “I'm Sayoko.” She decided that she should at least let the old mare, now Sylvia, know who it was she would be teaching as she followed the mare deeper into the cave.
