Baharimtoto Pride

The pride was in a state, there was no doubt about that. A mess was one word for it and a lot of work was being put in to make sure the once strong pride was again strong and able to look forward and grow again.

Neith wanted to put some things in place. She had heard recently of a female in the pride getting pregnant, one by a rogue and it had taken a few words with Kwaruza to find that this wasn't good. Rogue breedings were banned. Neith had found this hard to agree with being that she had been a rogue for so long surely pleasure with one wasn't that bad? It was still something that needed to be addressed a long with the rites.

She had called her small council to a meeting spot along the beach where it was a little hidden. A nice alcove where they could talk and not be disrupted. The blue lioness stood there and waited. She needed someone to come, appear as it were so she could sort this mess out.

Kwaruza was the first to arrive, it would have been slightly strange if she hadn't. The world had changed a lot since the ridal wave had hit and though it seemed some of her own children had gone missing, it seemed there were other problems as well. She knew of Neith's worries as she spent much time with her, helping her with the gaps in her knowledge.

Flicking her tail she checked no one was following her before she headed to the alcove and greeted Neith with a smile.

"You don't need to worry so much, you are rebuilding, others will still need their time to get use to you." She rubbed against the blue lioness and then sat beside her waiting for the two males that Neith had picked out.

"They were a good choice." One especially as she knew her daughter had been spending a lot of time with him. One had to be curious about a male when their daughter thought so much of them.

User ImageThe old male wandered up cheerily. It wasn't in him to be late or to keep others waiting. He was pleased to have been selected to come forwards for the council. He had been with the pride for so long after all that though he hadn't been born here he had seen a lot of years in the pride.

His mate had gon missing in the Tsunami and though he had searched he had not found her, he hoped one day Khepri would return but until then he could help to re-build the pride they had lived in and loved. Khepri would have wanted that.

Nahodha'kota nodded to the two females and settled himself in to a sitting position his jet black form settling carefully on the sand. His age was starting to catch up to him so that when he sat down his joints creaked and clicked in to place as he settled. "Lassy's" He smiles, waiting for the meeting to commence.

The rebuilding process had begun. Already, the lion could see bits of the disaster area being cleaned up. Not as much driftwood covered the area, but they still had a long way to go. Walking past the shores, and up to the secret area where council met, the brightly colored male thought to himself. His golden gaze flickered around for any movement that may be following him, but luckily there was none.

Approaching the two lionesses, and lion, the male gave a small grin. His feet padded in the sands, each grain filing between his toes. He gave a nod to each of the fellow members. “Greetings,” Quidytch spoke, settling himself in a sit

Neith smiled as both the males turned up. She had picked males because of their gender. She needed to know a bit of everything as it were.

"Welcome all of you, I hope you already know each other. If not this is Kwaruza, Nahodha'kota and Quidytch." She smiled looking at each of them in turn.

"As you all are aware we have a large mess to clean up and so I have put this group together to help sort the pride out. I need anything and everything that is said in this group to stay between this group and not reach anyone else's ears." This was purely her being a little over protective over the whole thing but she needed to make sure she could trust them completely and it seemed like a good plan.

"Now I have assigned you roles, please if you don't like them let me know. Kota, you will be in charge of the guards and clean up crew. This will involve moving anything that could be dangerous and the guards must be kept in place, we don't want anyone to see the prides state as an opportunity. Quidytch, I wish for you to over look the healers and a new role I wish to bring in so that healers and those who make medicines are separate. Any ideas on names for this role would be useful. I ask, if you would not mind that you learn some healing techniques yourself. Though please say if you would rather not. Kwaruza you are to overlook the nursery and the cubs and the hunting as I believe that was your specialty before. A nursery must be constructed with the help of those who are cleaning up. A place high up where the cubs stay during the day. While they are young they are not to leave the nursery so it will need to be a large space. I need everyone to scout an appropriate area for it." She took a breath, she had so much to talk about.

"All youngsters will need to pick at a young age what profession they wish to go into. They will then be paired up and taught. This is essential - we need everyone to be learning and so if anything like this happens again we all have the skills needed." She then stopped talking and looked to the others, waiting for them to add something.

((guys if you want your lions to have different roles by all means just say, I just assigned them to you randomly))

The big black male gave a nod, he was a protector, he had always been a guard up until this point in his existence and being put in charge of them suited him down to the ground. He would hardly sit on his thumbs while the clean up happened, he could clear dabris as well as anyone else being able to direct everyone to the most in need places just, seemed right. He let a smile lift his pale lips and he nodded. "Aye lass, suits me fine, ah've been workin' with most 'o tha guard lads since they were youngins ah'll see tha place gets polished up and ship shaped in no time." He chuckles, ever the optimist.

"I once heard of a lass who called herself a herbalist or an alchemist. She had a hand in tha arts of plants and such, she made a salve that would heal up a dirty wound before you could say nine lives." He smiles a gentle smile, the Bahari wasn't the only place he lived he'd travelled before he came here though he had always known that here was where he was supposed to be.

"I'd like to make a suggestion lass, I be thinkin' we need ta make up a group o strong arms that'll watch tha nursery. Not cub sitters, or border guards, lions who can protect tha littluns an' tha cub sitters within, a specific group. I worries about um, like ya say that pride she be in disarray I don't wanna see tha cubs whisked away." He frowns he knew of lions who would steal young ones, it was a frightening thought.

"Lastly, I does hear tell of a typ o person that knows how to heal tha land. They know the soil and trees. May'aps ya need ta think about findin' one such as that to look at tha river, and tha border trees on tha jungle, I be mighty worried it'll never clear up and them trees are sufferin' the effects of tha salt water." He raises a brow and flickers his tail looking to the rest of the group.

Quidytch listened as the female spoke. She had assigned him the task of overlooking the healers, as well as the new medicine making role. While he didn’t know too much about the healing abilities, the bright lobster colored lion was certainly up for a challenge. And it would also mean he could help the pride, which was always a plus too.

An ear swiveled, listening to the black male, Nahodha'kota, speak. He too had heard of different types of names for those on his travels when he once was a rogue.

He had his own idea of a name though. “It’d be my honor, to learn the ways of the healers,” the lion said with smile. “Perhaps something simple as for the name of the role. Maybe like ‘hlare’ or... ‘mohlodimore’” simple suggestions for words that meant just what the role intended too: Medicine, or creator of medicine respectively. Obviously they were just suggestions.

Kwaruza sat and listened, she had nothing to add as none of this was really new to her ears. She had spoken to Neith already and agreed with most of what was being brought to the meeting. She listened to the possible new names though, they were interesting but it was Neith's decision not hers.

"I have no objection to guards being placed around the nursery but they should just be guards on rota as it were." She didn't think a group of lions to protect the nursery had to be separate from the others. Everyone needed a role to feel needed and that was what was to happen.

Neith listened to each lion in turn. She was glad none seemed annoyed with the tasks she had given them and so she smiled thankfully at them.

"Quidytch, the healers and stuff are under you so name the other role as you wish." It seemed the fairest way to deal with that one. She then turned to Kota and smiled.

"I completely agree with you the nursery will need protecting but I agree with Kwaruza, it can be part of a guards duty. The clean up crew will need to be strong lions, builders as it were. That will become their permanent job, we will always need the nursery to be built up or something like that and so we need lions who can do that for us." She looked to the others and hoped they understood what she meant.

"I also want all cubs in that nursery at all times apart from when being taken out by an adult. We need to know where they all are just in case." That was a point she wasn't going to be budging on. The cubs were to stay in the nursery. "Any cubs found leaving the nursery without permission will be punished. This is vitally important that the cubs are looked after and we know where they are." She hoped they understood her, she really did.

"Hlare, I think would be best then." Quidytch offered. Simple and easy to say.

He nodded in understandment when he heard about the nursery being built. "When I am not learning the new ways of the healing, I can definitely assist in helping building things. I think, our number one priority should be to keep any youngsters safe." He didn't know how many willing abled lions would be able to help in building something like this, but they'd get it done.

"The parents should also be allowed in the nursery to stay with their cubs until they are old enough to go out on their own." He suggested as well.

The big blak male gave a nod and a slight chuckle "Sounds like most of my family." He gives a nod "I'm sure I can round up some strong guys to deal with the building." He nods, he was glad that Neith was taking a considerable interest in the cubs. He loved his own children and the children of the pride he felt were the most important creatures in the pride.

Giving a nod the dark male smiled at each of the others. "Aye, tha parents need to spend their down time with their cubs. They still need to know their families, not just their nannys." he chuckles quietly.

Kwaruza agreed with them both, there was no doubting that.

"Okay, I agree but if both parents will be allowed to stay with the cubs then the nursery needs to be large enough to include dens and large dens at that." She wanted to make it clear, that both parents would take up a lot of room especially with a large litter.

"I also think an announcement will needed to be made to the pride, in fact a meeting place wouldn't be a bad thing. The pride needs to know a lot will be changing and so somewhere for meetings would be useful. Maybe somewhere with a large rock or fallen tree that Neith can stand on." Kwaruza mused a little and decided that was best. There must be enough fallen trees around now.

Neith listened to all the thoughts and agreed with all of them, nodding as they spoke.

"I believe all your points are valid. This nursery needs to be made first, the dens and everything else can be sorted out later the cubs need to be sorted out which actually brings me on to something else." She paused and looked round at the small group.

"I am sure you have heard by now there is a female in the pride who is pregnant. I am almost certain that the father is not one of the pride. I want to know everyones opinion on this." Neith had her own opinions on it but she wished to hear everyone else's first.

PostPosted: Fri Oct 07, 2011 2:10 pm

Nahodha'kota raised a brow, a female was pregnant by a rogue? He had never seen it in his time in the pride. "Tha pride has been in disarray, I don't think tha lassy should be punished." He crumpled his brow and gave a sigh.

"Tis a difficult enough time at the moment an' cubs, even, cubs who don't be legitimate to the pride should be protected." He smiled a little, he didn't believe in punishment and though it was against the prides traditions, he didn't think of anything more joyful than new life.

"Prap's lassy it be time for change. Tha pride as it were, was struck down by tha tsunami ansfar as I be knowin' we done no wrong to the great blue mistress." He nods lightly, his logic was fairly straightforwards, he had no reason to feel hatred towards the lioness who had made a mistake in the upheaval that was the pride at the moment. Plus, he appreciated cubs too much to see them harmed because of mistakes.

Qui nodded, agreeing with what Kwaruza had said. He didn't exactly know where a large rock would be, but using a fallen tree would definitely be easier to find. There was driftwood everywhere, and the tsunami had made a few of the timbers fall. If anything, they could always pile up a bunch of the debris, stablize it with mud and muck, and make like a makeshift podium for meetings to be held.

It would take time, but they'd get there soon.

Hearing about the pregnant female made Quidytch’s ears perk forward. “I agree with Nahodha’kota. Some mistakes happen, regardless of what kind of offense it may be…” Being born to a rogue father, Qui knew that hardships his mother and other siblings had to go through. “I think we should be supportive of her…even though what was done was a discouraging act. The pride being in such disarray can cause mayhem, and especially a better lack of judgment. But one thing really to consider is this: new life after such a terrible disaster is an encouraging sign. We should all treasure the future cubs, for they are just that… our future.”

While Qui was against the idea of rogue breeding, this truly was a good sign for the pride. It meant life would go on.
