The Inner Hallway

This hallway is the entry point to the rest of Fa'e HQ from the common room, and the place where one arrives after passing through the fireplace passage. Each side bears a large spiral staircase leading to the second floor. Those with difficulties ascending stairs can simply stand at the base of the stairs and say "Raise me!" to find themselves standing in the upper hallways above.

Along the walls here, there are a few couches, in case the Fa'e wish to relax and chat in a more private (from the outside, anyway) place.

As the two Fa'e rounded the corner, the entire hallway groaned and lurched, twisted slightly at an angle. Several large strips of wallpaper were peeling off like the skin of an onion, windows slamming up and down furiously. Several were broken and the tables shook as the Fa'e passed them. Something large and dark was looming at the end of the hallway, crawling towards them on underdeveloped arms.

The only safe-looking place was the library, huge towering bookcase leaning against the outer walls. It was eerily silent, though something seemed to wheeze somewhere in the room. Something large, as if breathing, and it was something the two Fa'e couldn't see.

Several books were missing and some pages floated in an invisible breeze.

Dusty's attention was drawn immediately, of course, to the thing across the room. Lethe was still a good few paces ahead of her, but the River was unarmed, and if there was something actually there....

"LOOK OUT!" The deerkitten blared, clipping forward as quickly as she could to get between Lethe and the monster in the shadows. Her nostrils flared, her hooves stomped, her tail lashed. Dusty was not going to be scared so easily!

Lethe frowned, only able to sense that there was some kind of figure to her side. "Callix?" She tried, abandoning the door and taking a step forwards -- and falling back into the door when something small veered in front of her, separating her from what she thought was her friend--

...Well, this was a friend too. Recognizing the voice, Lethe scrambled against the door for a hold, and straightening again, squinted in an attempt to see Dusty. Hoping her voice wouldn't betray her by wavering, she finally spoke up, "What is it? I can't see."

"HHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...." it wheezed, and the thing lurched forward just as lightning flashed, revealing a twisted parody of a human face, an arm jutting from its neck, a leg from the shoulder. It dragged itself along, wheezing and croaking as it neared them. Tables behind them reared up like horses, stomping along loudly, like hail on a roof. Their legs grew long, tall above their heads, hearding them into the library.

The threshold twisted and the silence was almost calling to them. The section of the wall across from the door pulsated and started to move outward toward them like an inflating balloon.

The creature hissed again, dragging its misshapen jaw towards the deerkitten. "HHHHHHuuuuukkkkk..."

Upon seeing the creature better, Dusty decided that it was time, and past time, that she finally do something that she had wanted to do for a long time. Something she had seen often around her- from her Guardian, from her Guardian's friends. Something she had reserved for just such an occasion.

".... SHEET!" She declared loudly, backing away from the creature and straight into Lethe. "'S BIG! 'S really, really BIG!" She tried to make this point more clear to the River Fa'e, but she was distracted by the movement of the tables, the wall, and just... everything.

Seizing Lethe's hand, she tugged forcefully the Fa'e away from the threat of the tables. Only one safe direction. The library. Dusty was too young to understand that they were trying to get them in that direction, that it might be a trap; just that they had to run. NOW.

Lethe was only too grateful to do as Dusty wanted her -- her hands, not knowing to shiver, calmly found the doorknob and twisted, letting them both fall into the other room.

Breathing rapidly, Amaris darted through the empty fireplace and into the inner hallway of the HQ. She knew she still wasn't safe, she'd never be safe as long as this damn nightmare persisted, but at least here she'd have a minute to regroup herself. The first order of business was to stop the bleeding in her arm. Grimacing at the bloody mess her hand was now, she reached down and tore off a portion of her leggings, then wrapped it tightly around the wound. She'd have to get it checked out later - her arm felt kind of funny when she tried to move it. She would be so pissed if it had ripped a tendon.

"I hate my life," she said immediately upon further inspection of her surroundings, and turned to wipe the blood on her hand off on someone else.

Leading by the dim light of her cellphone, Arrien could barely breathe. This was ********... ******** INSANE. Her hands were shaking, her throat felt clogged, but she didn't let her posture seem anything but totally confident and self-assured as she took stock of who had come with her. Grateful that she had managed to get at least a few to follow, she took a deep breath.

"We have to find the kids," she said firmly. "If there are more things like that around, they could be hurt."

The sounds of the fighting in the Common Room, though it is just next door, quickly fades away into an eerie silence.

As everyone runs, hurries, powerwalks, and flees, the hallway seems to twist somehow. The next thing anyone knows, Morty (carrying Cerena), Amaris, and Arrien are now running, hurrying, powerwalking, and fleeing on the ceiling, the floor intact and right below (above?) them.

Anyone who hurries into the Inner Hallway after this point will still be on the true ground.

"We don't even know where they are," Amaris said flatly. "Anywhere, anywhere at all, they.. oh gods," she moaned, feeling the hallway twist around her and her stomach promptly follow suit.

Well, at this rate, she wouldn't be a help to anyone. If she found anything dead in the next couple of rooms, she could use it to fight with and, well, if that dead thing happened to be some poor fa'e kid, she was likely going to be dead meat to the owner. And if she came across anything alive... ...then she would die, and then she would be brought back to life and then Aylana would kill her again.

She weighed her options mentally, then grudgingly crawled across the disgusting floor - or the ceiling, whatever it was now - towards the Salle, although she had no idea where she was going. She needed something dead, and by god, she was going to GET something dead. She wasn't afraid of the scenery so much any more - she had seen and experienced far worse in every nightmare she ever had. Her bloodline had a long, long list of grudges against it, and specter attacks were common back then. But she'd get through this - she had to. She didn't have enough energy left to be scared.

"Oh holy God," Arrien breathed, dropping to the ground ceiling as the ceiling ground shifted over to hang above her.

If I survive this, I swear to God, I am going to start carrying weapons on me, Arrien vowed. I am going to ask my sister to get me a ******** weapon I can use, and I am never letting it off my person. And I am goign to kill the things that scare the piss out of me, and they will deserve it, because this is probably their fault.

"W... wait!" Watching Amaris crawl off, Arrien tried to stand; then, finding the inverse gravity too disorienting for her to cope with, settled for flopping on the ground and letting the necromancer crawl off. It was her choice to seperate from the group, after all, and Arrien had bigger concerns than one woman to chase after. Dusty had to be around somewhere....

"Hello Mr. Sunflowerdly lion," Cerena sang happily as she was hauled away by Morty. "How are you today?" Still clearly out of her mind, she reached down to what she could reach of Morty's back fur and began braiding it, completely ignorant of the switch in gravity.

Morty found himself upside down. Now, at first, he didn't realize he was upside down. He just thought the floor looked like this. But when he heard noises coming from the floor.... The fa'e promptly screeched, all the hair on his body raising up, and unfortunately for the girl braiding his hair she was dropped. The fact that when he dropped her she went to the ceiling freaked him out even more to the point where he yowled and dropped down to the ground, claws extending out and latching himself to the 'ground'. Oddly, though, Cere was actually under him, but, above him, and all fur still bristled out, tail tucked neatly between his legs, holding onto the ceiling with his claws just waiting for gravity to give out. Not to mention that he found himself having an athsma attack like hell, wheezing and puffing and generally freaking out, but his claws were so stuck that he couldn't reach for his inhaler.

The German woman rushed in, having ditched the whole door thing (abandoning the others with them, mind you) she was now excitedly placed in the hallway. Nearly bouncing with excitement, slightly hunched over and holding her arms out infront of her she was postured rather like some sort of dinosaur. Eyes were wild as she looked around, untill she saw her son stuck to a ceiling.

"Ich glaube, mich laust der Affe!" Head turned to look straight up, quite confused, Kochi decided there was only one perfectly sensible option. The undead german crouched down and then with all the muscles in her legs easily sprung up to join them on the ceiling. Her own claws dug into the surface, tail thrashing about below her as it hung down, hair hanging down perfectly straight with it. "Sohn, uh, how to say, uh, Was das fickt?"
