How ******** ignorant of him!
In case you live under a rock, Johnny Depp just recently made an unwise comment, saying that doing photoshoots is like, "Being raped".
He ******** up BIG TIME. When he said that, and I'm very disappointed in him, as that comment had offended me very much. Firstly, he chose to become an actor... he chose it, while rape is something that victims do not choose. He knew the aftermath, and he knew what would become of him by being a big-time actor... IT IS NOTHING LIKE RAPE AT ALL.
I'm sorry to rant to you guys. I'm just in shock. Johnny was my idol, and I'm so hurt that he'd even make such an insensitive comment.
News Article.
He did apologize earlier today... but it's still shocking. Do you think that RAINN (The anti-sexual abuse group) was overreacting when they heard this? Do you think I'm overreacting? I'm still bitter towards my daughter's father. Maybe I am overreacting?
What do you think about the issue?

To be fair, he should NOT have compared a photoshoot to rape. To be honest, our postmodern world's views on rape and sex had become mundane partly due to the sexual revolution. Before the sexual revolution, people have not used the word "rape" to describe things that are not rape. Now though, a lot of people do so indiscriminately.

I agree completely! I almost lost all respect for him, at first... but then, I realize people mess up with words all the time. (But it was still insensitive of him to say, nonetheless!) And I'm still really upset over it.

Lillian Cruz I agree completely! I almost lost all respect for him, at first... but then, I realize people mess up with words all the time. (But it was still insensitive of him to say, nonetheless!) And I'm still really upset over it. As far as Mr. Depp is concerned, I do agree with you that it was highly insensitive of him to say that. At any rate, I do hope that he had learned from his error.

I do hope so too. RAINN say that they would welcome an opportunity to speak with Johnny Depp and have him hear from survivors about the actual trauma of rape. Pft. I'd gladly tell Mr. Depp about my daughter, and her father... and the s**t I went through.... Comparing it to a photoshoot. Pffffft.
