Pyrite had been told she needed to learn how to kill. It honestly wasn't something she'd really considered when she'd been recruited into the negaverse. Sure, she could understand energy but killing. That was a bit extreme. And if she wanted to kill anyone it would be that b***h in her science class. But like she'd been told, she waiting under the broken streetlight at the corner of Hawthorne and Greenroot, right next to the antique shop in old town.

The lack of light no longer disturbed her, but the silence was still unsettling. Almost a prelude of the death to come. Not her own but of someone's. A death to save the innocent; a sacrifice for the greater good. It was a needed sacrifice and in the end, the world would be better for it.

Or something.

Still, Pyrite leaned against the cool metal, light from the other streetlights occasionally reflecting of her brass buttons and the heavy clock pendulum she held in her hands. Sighing she hoped her mentor for the night would arrive soon. She wanted to not end up out past 3 am.

Pyrite needed to learn to kill and Captain Moonstone had been the one to shoulder that particular task. Hours earlier, the dark-haired Captain had given Pyrite instructions as to where to meet her, fully transformed out of her civilian garb and "ready to get serious about the war against the senshi". Unfortunately for civilians, the Negaverse needed their life energies to battle against the senshi scum...so that they could live free of the White Moon's interfereance, as the Earth was meant to be.

On silent feet, Captain Moonstone approached the antique shop, eyes seeking out and finding the young Negaverse lieutenant. Good. She was there, leaning against the chilly lightpole: on time. That spoke well for the diminutive girl's chances.

"Lieutenant." Moonstone joined the girl, a faint smile playing upon her lips. "I trust you are ready to do this. We are going to find a likely civilian, lure them into the shadows and you will take their star seed." She paused a moment, expression not unkind. "What we do can be difficult, but this is a war, Lieutenant Pyrite, and we are the only hope the Earth has. What we offer these people is a noble sacrifice for the greater good." A slight breeze ruffled her bangs, the fringes of her coattails.

"Some of our number have found it easier to hunt the lawless - to gain for our side while removing one that some would consider 'human garbage'." Here the Captain turned and began walking; strides purposeful. "But no matter how you pick your victim tonight, we will not return home until you have succeeded in this mission."

When her rank echoed out into the air, Pyrite jumped. Oh god was it time already? Blushing as she realized she might have over reacted to what really wasn't even a reprimand, the young agent of Chaos sheepishly rubbed her arm in embarrassment. "Yes! Ready for orders, uh, captain." Not the most enthusiastic tone, but at least she didn't sound bored or put off by the task. She just sounded more nervous than anything. Shuffling foot to foot, Pyrite gave her best smile.

"Ah, so we focus more on criminal then? Thats...well it's honestly a bit of a relief." She could deal with killing the bitches from her school. And maybe those a*****e guys at the part. But not people like the nice barista at the corner cafe. "I though we might be going after like...normal people." She did look at her feet at the mention of not going home until the mission was over. It was probably going to be along night then.

Nearby she had seen a bum asleep in an alley. That would be acceptable right? Or did Moonstone have a plan for her victim, picked out, pre-determined? "I think I like the idea of going after..disreputable. For not at least."

Moonstone watched the young woman jump in surprise; clearly she had flustered Lieutenant Pyrite - the girl was nervous and clearly did not feel comfortable with the idea of murdering civilians. For a moment, Captain Moonstone wondered if she had been so reluctant to cause harm to others when she had first begun working for the Negaverse. Her expression softened and she slowed again so that they would be able to converse more easily.

"If it makes energy stealing or star seed retrievals more easily palatable for you, the yes. Absolutely focus on removing the more criminal elements." White teeth flashed in the low light as Moonstone gave the young woman a small smile. "Good. Now, let's apply that and find a good first victim." The sleeping bum would have been just fine, but she wasn't going to allow Pyrite to end it that quickly...if this were to be a truly effective training session, then they would need to take on another two or three people.

Taking one star seed, killing one civilian was hard - the first time it was very hard and Pyrite might find herself getting sick from it; Moonstone was there to support her and to make certain that the Lieutenant was able to hunt and gather without a superior's guidance.

Alas, poor Moonstone. Pyrite was just about as jumpy as a rabbit and would probably jump at a simple meow from a cat. Which , given that so many stray cats came out at night., she kind of jumped a bit when near seafood restaurants. Thankfully those were far off. It was just two good looking ladies out for the night.

"Oh thank goodness. I-well I admit, some girls from my school I might not mind. But...not others." She blushed thinking of that cute guy she'd seen from Meadowview not to long ago. A breeze drifted by and Pyrite got a sudden chill. It didn't help when Moonstone started talking of finding a victim. "Ah, should we start at the park or something. Or outside the movie theater? That's where I've gone before." It was a great place for draining energy. Buy a ticket, transform in the back where no lone looked, and suck em civilians dry.

Cost a bit, but it beat chasing after people or risking them fighting back. The best was when the civilian was asleep in the movie already.

"I think the late night showing is ending soon, so maybe there?" As for going after the civilians outside of the theater? New ground.

As jumpy as Pyrite seemed to be, Moonstone was calm and collected. Perhaps she wouldn't have been this way, would have been a lot more like the Lieutenant beside her, had Sailor Alcyone not nearly killed her. Sometimes she did wonder about the things that she had lost from that lightening strike, but there had been a lot of gains too - her Captaincy, her calm and focus when it came to doing what was needed for the Negaverse.

"It's understandable, as a Lieutenant, to feel hesitant...taking the lives of those we are trying to protect may seem wrong, but as I've said...in a war, it's inevitable that sacrifices must be made." Pyrite seemed to need to hear these things again, to reassure herself that what they were doing was right; if talking it out as they hunted was required to help the younger woman become ready to do her duty, Moonstone would do it.

"That's an excellent idea, Lieutenant. We will start outside the movie theater, sticking with the alleys. The darkness is our greatest ally in the hunt. Use it. Use everything you have to lure victims to you." The dark haired captain headed towards the closest theater, knowing that Pyrite would follow her.

Another flicked of street lights, and brown curls gave a bounce as the Lieutenant nodded her head. "I- I understand Miss, er, Moonstone. Sacrifices." All for the greater good. All for the salvation of them all. Pyrite would have to steel her will for what was to come, not matter how odd it might have been.

Getting to the theater was easy, finding a good civilian wasn't most were in pairs, groups, or those dreadful things called 'family units.' They needed someone alone and easy. They found their stroke of luck in the form of an employee who was in the back, the orange glow of his cigarette showing him more then the tiny lamp over the back door. The back alley was also wide enough to move in, but hidden enough in the shadows and behind the dumpsters no one might stumble upon them.

"What about him?" Pyrite whispered to her mentor. "Is that suitable?"

Hearing Lieutenant Pyrite struggling with what nomenclature to use for her during this mission - or would that be in general as well? - made her glance back at the brunette with amusement before her sharp eyes took in more of the civilians at the theater; she assessed the likelyhood of success with each and summarily dismissed each unacceptable one. "Just call me Captain, it will be easier for now." And when there were other captain level Negaverse agents present Pyrite could use her full title. Admittedly, Captain Moonstone was a bit of a mouthful to speak aloud.

"Yes. Go for it." Moonstone's eyes tracked the orange-red glow of the cigarette; she urged the Lieutenant forward. "Go in quick and clean. I will back you up if you need me." She was hoping very much that the girl wouldn't require her aid, but she was ready just in case.

The shadows were the safest places to be in times like this. Sneaking up on innocents, catching them off gaurd. This time she needed to meet her target head on with no hesitation. Do or die, now or never. A few tenative steps before looking back at her captain, Pyrite had a shiver run up her spine. She could do this, it was part of her duty after all.

The clicking of her boots on the cement had the man turnrng, a grin forming quickly on his lips. "Sorry, no back stage passes. However, I do allow a bit of backstage bribery." the grin widened, cigarette dropped and put out the cheap black work boots. Smiling ain that sweet false way she often did, Pyrite walked up to him, place a hand on his chest, and pushed.

It was a strange feeling and as soon as it happened, he screamed. The shock had her jumping back, a solid thing in her hands. As the man crumpled, she gazed at the crystal. "I-"
She held it out to Moonstone. "Captain?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 18, 2011 3:30 am

Shadows swallowed the girls more fully as they stepped toward the employee's side entrance; Moonstone watched Pyrite moving towards her target. Pyrite's steps were tentative, halting but only for a moment as she seemed to gather her courage and plunge fully forward to take the man's star seed.

It wasn't as clean as she would have liked it, but Moonstone was fairly pleased with Pyrite's performance. Unfortunately, as the brunette turned towards her with that somewhat shocked and seeking expression, someone peered down the alleyway. It wasn't the worst thing that could have happened, after all...there were a great many people that walked the streets leading to the theater...and any number of those persons might have passed close enough to figure out that the scream had come from within the alley.

Moonstone took two swift steps to Pyrite, pressing her against the rough wall of the theater as though they were making out in the hopes that doing so would send this person skittering back out. But as luck would have it, this fellow was a 'do-gooder' type and came further into the alley while calling out time-honored questions that could only be considered stupid when addressing an unknown element in a darkened alley. Something along the lines of "Hey. What's going on back there!?"

Pyrite would feel the Captain's breathing quicken just a little bit before she pushed away from the wall and took a somewhat acrobatic charge at the interloper; her weapon appearing quickly in her hand. Before the civilian in the dirty-looking green hoodie and overly-long cargo pants (that of course hung nearly to his knees - stupid, stupid stupid!) could get turned around to flee, Moonstone had slammed her totem-club into the back of his head with a sickening thunk.

As the man dropped, she grabbed his body and hauled it back to where Pyrite's vicitm had fallen. Her hand plunged into the man's shallowly-moving chest, tearing his star seed out of the limp body and tucking it into a small pouch that hung from her belt. "You did well, Lieutenant. Unfortunately now we have two bodies to deal with. Quick, give me a hand." She outlined the idea: both bodies were going in with the trash and they were going to find a new location. Pyrite really should do one or two more, so that Moonstone could be certain the girl wasn't going to hesitate next time.

As for what might happen when those civilian-husks were found, well...it wasn't like they would find any real evidence leading them to either girl! Negaverse agents left only bodies in their wake when they killed. Besides, the police of Destiny City would never figure it out...they were as painfully stupid as the senshi most of the time anyway.

Shock was a bit of an understatement as the echo of a curious 'cat' decided to come slinking by. As Moonstone pressed her to the wall, Pyrite was hoing to seem as small and hidden as possible. They had been seen. She'd not been quick enough and now everything was-
Fine.
Moonstone's actions propelled Pyrite to look at her aimlessly, amazed by simply...how efficient she was. The captain was impressive to the young agent, and she merely nodded and pocketing her star seed, went to dispose of the bodies.

Heavy and a bit difficult, they were maneuvered into the dumpsters and thankfully, no one came to investigate where the two had gone. For now at least. Even Pyrite knew after a job was done to flee the scene of the crime. "Captain?" She pointed to the nearby rows of commercial buildings. "Should we go now? I- I think that guy might have been on break." Shuffling foot to foot she looked down the ally. "Sorry. I just-" Pulling out the starseed she offered it to her. "Did I do alright?"

With a final huff, Moonstone pushed her bangs back and straightened. They were done here, for now. It did no good to 'over-hunt' an area when one was in the market for star-seed retrievals rather than energy siphoning. Pyrite offered the theater worker's star seed after having suggested they skedaddle; it was obvious that her companion needed a bit more reassurance. "You keep it, Lieutenant - you've earned it." Moonstone would give the younger woman a smile and a reassuring pat on her shoulder before leading her off towards the commercial buildings that she had pointed out moments ago.

As they walked, the Haida Negaverse agent talked quietly with her companion. "Do not apologize, Lieutenant Pyrite, this is a training session in which hesitation is allowable to a degree. Apologize only if you have caused a problem outside of training." Because really, no Lieutenant should feel like they had to be 100% absolutely perfect going through a training: practice would make the skirted agent proficient...and perfect practice would make perfect.

"With time, you will find the strength to take a star seed as easily as you find the strength to take energy. But you must be strong and careful too - taking a civilian on is much, much easier than taking on a senshi, but not all civilians will go easily. We must be prepared to use whatever force required to complete whatever missions we are given."

The moon was bright in the sky, but a smattering of clouds was moving in and affording the pair of women more cover than they would have had otherwise. The dark-eyed Captain lead her charge to some stacked pallets; they could lean against - or even sit upon - the scratchy, rough wood. "How are you feeling, Lieutenant Pyrite? How do you feel about the extraction - are you feeling more confident? Less? Do you have questions?"

"I want to know how you're doing with this so that we can continue in a manner that will help you the most."

The night was coming to an end, and for Pyrite, it couldn't have can fast enough. Her heart was racing in her chest after her first kill. Later she'd collapse, get the shakes- all that wonderful stuff that ran right along with shock. For now she was just a bit more jumpy then normal.

At Moonstone's prompting the starseed was ticked away. It was her reward for a job well done, and, it would be her first solid confirmation into the negaverse. " I'm so-" Cutting her self off, her curls bounced as she nodded in agreement. "I understand. No taking on people that would kill me, even as a lieutenant." Like burly guys from the gym.

As the hid, Pyrite hopped that the confident captain didn't her hands. They were shaking just slightly now. "I feel better now-" a lie, "would it be acceptable to call it a night. If I have questions I can call you again yes?" She hoped so. Her brain couldn't handle much right now.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:08 pm

"Precisely." Pyrite's understanding of what she was being told pleased the Captain very much; it helped when the recruits weren't arse-stupid and could understand directives from higher ranked Agents. Moonstone watched her companion and then looked back out at the night - for her, it was still young...still full of potential and promise. But for Lieutenant Pyrite, the night was quite obviously done; she looked tired and ready to go home. How often had she herself carried her body in that manner, waiting for Linarite or whichever of her peers had taken some part of her training on to allow her to rest, to go home?

"Yes, of course. It's best to not press too hard yet...I forget sometimes what it's like to be so new. We can continue at a later date...I would like to continue your training sessions, perhaps in a week or two." She was being gracious and allowing them to end the night now, but it was obvious from her tone that they would be doing this again...when Pyrite was ready. "You can get home from here, correct?"

Captain Moonstone was offering - if necessary - to escort her companion back to their home base. Pyrite seemed strained, otherwise she wouldn't have offered.

Pyrite was more than relived to hear that it was over, even if just for that night in particular. The sound, the thought of doing this again- Was not really embraced, but it was accepted. No use fighting the inevitable, or the required in this case. "Thank you. And yes, I can make it home on my own." Nodding, she smiles faintly.

"Again, thank you. I think- I think I will sleep and resume energy gathering tomorrow night. You've a great help Moonstone." It seemed so odd to her to not use 'Miss'. Formalities and all that. Another bow, and the agent was running home.
