Located in the land of Water, the Hidden Mist Village is one of the top 5 greatest Shinobi countries. The village's Kage carries the title of Mizukage. Being located in the land of Water, all of their jutsus are based on water techniques. Not much more is known about this village. Although it was commonly referred to by other villages as 'Bloody Mist Village' for its rumored brutality. Hidden Mists land is, as it would sound, often shrouded in heavy mists. Filled with lakes and swamps throughout it's landscape. However, the rest of the world may not know this, but the current Village is actually a replica of the original which fell into chaos and was destroyed from the inside out only months after the terrorist bombings.

'The sound of flapping reaches your ears as a black crow slows it's rapid decent before landing onto your shoulder. Hopping from one foot to the other, it waits for you to take the scroll attached to one of it's legs. Once removed, the crow will immediately take flight with a parting squak.
The scroll reads...'
"You have been enlisted to represent the village in an important diplomatic mission. In three months time you will be expected to arrive in the Land of Earth to assist in a delicate matter that is of the utmost importance. This will be a joint mission with several other Hidden Village shinobi, your actions and results will reflect the strength of our Village, it is expected you will not disappoint. You will be contacted later with more detailed instructions and appropriate funds. Do not share the details of your mission."

Hanako Kaguya Hanako Kaguya had graduated the academy with flying colors and now sported her forehead protector of the Village Hidden in the mist, which she wore around her waist. She had trained long and hard for that honor and the pride of her clan was well received in the form of congratulatory sparring matches and under-age drinking, because sake' was for warriors, and as far as the rest of Kaguya clan was concerned, Hanako had become one of their true flesh and blood warriors the moment she had been granted the title of Genin. Now there was pressure to go further, to master new jutsu and to spill the blood of many enemy ninja, all in the name of the Kaguya and the Hidden Mist Village. She had a lot of weight on her shoulders for being such a fresh ninja to the ranks of the Village of Mist, but that was all in the realm of her status as a wielder of a kekkai genkai, especially one as fabled and lethal as the Dead Bone Pulse. Those with kekkai genkai were destined for greatness, or so their clan believed, and that was shared in her ideals and mannerisms by Hanako herself.
The dreams of grandeur had to be put on hold as she still lacked the actual power to fulfill the whole bit on slaughtering enemy ninja. It was true that she was stronger in one regard, but there was still a lot to accomplish in others, and she had a list. Hanako wanted to shine in the field of taijutsu, but there was also the practice of hand seals, and the development of jutsu on the list of training she had to accomplish as well. It seemed like rest was not in the future, and so with that in mind, she took herself to a wooded and secluded part of the Village were people usually trained. It was all part of the plan to get stronger and better than those she was now considered a peer to, and even her superiors. The goal was to become strong enough to the point were nobody would be her superior, and she would be one of the legendary kunoichi of the Hidden Mist Village, if not the Mizukage some day.
Upon arriving in the wooded area, the time was mid-day and the fog and mist that gave the Village it's characteristic name was not present on this day. It was a clear and beautiful time to train, and Hanako took it as a sign that the clan elders were smiling on her by gracing her with the perfect and ideal conditions. "First up on the list is Hand Seal Practice...", she said as she pulled out her list that she had actually written down for her own notes. The White Rose of the Kaguya Clan was a brutal fighter, but she was also methodical and organized inside and outside of combat, as demonstrated by her careful planning and note taking. It would be what separated her from the average member of her family. The main hand seals that were utilized in water jutsu were classically the ram, rat, and dragon signs. So she went through each of them slowly at first, forming the two fists with knuckles interlocked and pinky fingers pressed together and extended for dragon, and then shifting them into the two fists clenched together with her index fingers aimed skyward for the ram, and then lastly, the extended index fingers, covered by the palm of her right hand for the rat sign. Then came the repetition as she worked the signs over and over, trying to execute them faster and with greater precision. This was common practice for even experienced ninja, and it was an exercise she felt she would need to get used to performing.Quote: Words: 637 Word Total: 637 EXP: 124 EXP

Hanako Kaguya Hanako Kaguya was still hard at work with her hand seal practices for at least another hour or so into her day of training and basic exercise. She wanted to continue to get herself in to tip top shape for any upcoming missions or if she were to meet anyone of importance, such as a potential instructor or other ninja of ranking status above hers in the Village. She had a duty to the Kaguya Family to appear strong and skilled above all the others due to her nature as a wielder of a kekkai genkai. These abilities were given only to the few and select of elite ninja families, and to disgrace her own by neglecting training would be unforgivable. It was her sense of duty to the family that kept her working on the appropriate hand signs, over and over, in a consistent repetition. It wasn't pure monotony to her as it would be to some, instead, the white haired kunoichi viewed this task as if it were the most important thing she would do in her life at this very moment in history. In a sense, she would not have been incorrect in that point of view, as hand signs were the most important skill when utilizing ninjutsu as well as genjutsu, and if she hoped to be any good at either of those, despite her main focus in taijutsu, then she could not neglect the skill. "Rat, Dragon, Ram..Rat, Dragon, Ram..", she repeated verbally to herself as she made each sign consecutively with attempts at getting faster and more precise with each of the three gestures of her digits. When utilizing skills of a high level, there were usually a string of at least a dozen or so of these skills when molding the chakra in a particular method for a desired result, so precision and quick finger dexterity was a must for ninjutsu and genjutsu both. The whole reason for this practice was to develop and expand upon what was taught at the ninja academy, and to bring that skill to a higher level than it already was presently.
After completing her hand sign practice, Hanako pulled out her list and crossed it off, before moving to the next one down the line. "Tree Training..I'm feeling extra pent up. I feel sorry for these trees.", she said with a bit of a wicked smile on her lips as the white rose of the Kaguya clan got to work by beginning to train her taijutsu stance on a nearby tree. The stalwart wooden training partner would have to take the place of a normal dummy, as the goal was to continually punch and kick at it with no other purpose but to expand on her ability to throw out quick and strong attacks in a hand-to-hand setting. This was the field she specialized in and had used to gain an upper hand in her days at the academy, to a point were few were willing to spar her unless it was a matched pairing in class. In that regard, being fast and strong, and having the tendency to break a person's bones in, what was supposed to be, a friendly match. She showed the tree no mercy as her fist slammed into it with a few kicks at the mid-range to accent and provide flavor and variety to her style, even though pinning a person down and beating their face bloody was just about as fun to Hanako as video games were to a nerd. It was a euphoric rush, like one might get when taking drugs, and she had long been denied that rush, this tree was nothing more than a placebo outlet for that desire to hear bones cracking and to smell the blood dripping from an opponent.
The Kaguya family were known experts in this style of the ninja arts due to how brutal and blood-thirsty they were. It was as if their very souls cried out for combat, and Hanako was no exception to this trait. The family had always trained their children from the point when they were able to stand to be able to take a hit. Her mother and father along with her three siblings would occasionally randomly smack her across the face or send a punch to her gut, but her job wasn't to complain or whine about how it hurt. It was to build up a resilience to the feeling and even enjoy it. It was not out of hatred or malice that her family treated each other so on occasion. It was training and preparation for combat, a building of understanding that life was full of pain and that feeling was good. To feel pain was to be alive, and it really made the clan out to be a bunch of sado-masochists at times. To a person on the outside looking in, with no knowledge of this clan, one would assume they were nothing but savage barbarians, but to the Hidden Mist Village, they were some of their strongest users of taijutsu, and most often the hardest to kill due to how darn resilient they could be.
Through the years of the training endured in her childhood with her family, Hanako grew to love pain. Yes, in the sense that she was alive and over time, her brain had begun to associate it with the thrill and rush of combat, but upon her adolescence and awakening of puberty, those hormonal urges were sated by violence. Some of the boys would whisper about how she would grow up alone and unmarried as she would likely beat her boyfriend to death. The whispers in the dark and the taunting about her attitude toward others in social interactions did not seem to bother her. If they were content to leave her alone and without the feeling of love or affection to stimulate her in that regard, then she would simply turn to violence and brutality to feel that glow of warmth that a young maiden usually felt when in love. Those thoughts simply made her punch and kick the tree harder and with greater intent to inflict pain on herself by her skin raking across the bark and drawing blood from her knuckles. It would be a hard feat to accomplish, but she had worked herself up now. Dwelling on the past and dark memories with jaded emotions was a dangerous thing, yet she continued as the young Kaguya female felt it gave her strength and passion to direct behind the force of her blows. She just simply filled up the hollow void by substituting anger for love, sadism for sensuality, and masochism for passion. There was one goal, and it was to become a perfect weapon for the Mist Village and to bring honor to the Kaguya family. There was no room for love in that design anyway, and it was there among the trees that she swore it off entirely, and the subject would likely never grace her thoughts again once she had calmed down.Quote: Words: 1178 Word Total: 637 + 1178 = 1815 EXP: 360 EXP

INDENTAfter receiving their scrolls with the upcoming mission, Sora and Arina decided to spend a few hours training and then go their separate ways for the time being. They each had their own ways they wanted to prepare for the upcoming mission. The two of them decided that they would enter the Earth Country village separately, gather information separately but later, they would meet to discuss their findings to each other before again going their separate ways. The young girl immediately went to her mother, so they could hit the shops looking for outfits that would make her look less like a shinobi and more like the traveling apprenticing herbalist that she hoped to pass herself off as. The young woman did not just want to look the part, so she spent a lot of time studying herbs that were native to the Earth Country region as well as various uses. She focused on those that had healing or pain soothing attributes. INDENTThe next day Arina awoke and completed her normal morning ritual but as promised the day prior, she packed a few extra snacks and two lunches before heading out to the training grounds. Putting them gently into her shoulder sack, the young girl was off to quietly make her way through village while the sun peeked across the sky promising that the streets would soon be bustling with activity. Just like every morning, the young girl found a place to quietly relax and study while she waited for the sun to come upon them full throttle which would signal the portion of the day in which she would begin training. The particular page turner for today was a book that was dedicated to medicating salves and to be honest, Arina was quite interested in attempting to prepare some of the more refined recipes before she even decided to leave for the trip. Granted these were mundane practices considering most of these could be alleviated while using jutsu; however, you never knew when using a salve or tonic might actually be more convenient than jutsu like while on the move for example. Who has time to alleviate pain with a jutsu while retreating from enemies to find a more tactful position which would give you advantage? She currently had been practicing beginner recipes but the herbs used were not nearly as effective. They might only stave off infection and mild pain. INDENTWaves of heat rolling of the sun which was now in full view prompted Arina to place the book back into her should sack. The young girl still had not decided what she was going to practice today. Should she work on her ninjutsu? No, she had not been studying as diligently as she should have. What about taijutsu? No, her taijutsu was mediocre at best. “Grrr,” she growled quietly under her breath realizing she was completely and entirely unprepared for this upcoming mission. The only thing that she had was her miniscule medical knowledge and her ability to blend into her surroundings to protect her at the moment. Would it be better to focus on refining her medical capabilities? INDENTArina had so many thought processes going on at the moment that she had scarcely realized that she had finally reached her destination. The young girl bumped into a tree which caused her to focus on the situation at hand. The area was wooded and wonderful place to practice whatever it was that she would decide to practice for the day. She noticed a rather daunting girl probably around her age who was taking up her pent up frustration on a nearby tree. Unable to ignore the bleeding and wounds which covered the stranger’s hands, Arina grabbed her mediocre salve from a pocket on the side of the bag. “Here,” she announced allowing the girl a few minutes to realize and adjust to the situation before tossing the small glass bottle towards her, “It will help.”INDENTEven if she could not properly train her abilities or decide on a focus for the upcoming mission, she could at least be useful in the present situation. Hanako Kaguya Hanako Kaguya, the White Rose of Clan Kaguya, had been training hard up until when Arina had shown up to the wooded practice fields were the genin ranked warrior of the fierce clan had been furiously working on her skills with intense dedication and fervor. There was a sense of purpose about her, but when the hours passed, she had achieved her goal of making her hands bleed, while the tree stood there with little damage, a little missing bark, but otherwise, it loomed like a daunting opponent that stood firm against all of the rage, and resisted her every frustration. The stinging in her knuckles gave her such a feeling that it reminded her of a time she spent performing the exercise against a sand-stone boulder with her father. The result had been the same as then, but this time was different. There was a new force, something outside the family there offering something to soothe the pain and heal the minor injury. Nobody had ever offered her any sort of kindness like this before and in that moment of mixed emotion, Hanako was left with a choice to make as she looked over to Arina for a brief moment. There were a lot of emotions swirling inside of her and keeping them in check was difficult.
'Here. It will help.' The words echoed in her mind as she replayed them over and over subconsciously.
As the glass bottle was tossed to her, she had to wonder exactly what about it would help her in what way? Hanako wondered if this was just to mend the wound, but there was something different about this medicated salve. It was presented with kindness and selflessness. Why was this new girl being so nice to her? She didn't know Hanako, and the reverse was true, so what did she have to gain by being nice to somebody who she didn't have a stake in? Regardless, the Kaguya teen snagged it out of the air and into her grasp carefully, so as to not crush it in her normally firm grip. "Thanks.", she said simply to Arina before she took out a sample of the ointment from the jar and rubbed it over her knuckles before wrapping her hands in a white sports bandage. With the work of caring for her hands out of the way, she looked back to her benefactor with a look of curiosity. "You hadn't been there watching me long I hope? I'll admit, my form was not at it's best. It is embarrassing, so don't make a judgement on my skill.", she said with a bright blush before she walked over to the other girl. "My name is Kaguya, Hanako. Genin ranked kunoichi of the Village Hidden in the Mist. I wont let this kindness you have shown me go unpaid, so if you need some help now or in the future, you have my gratitude and with that, the gratitude of the Kaguya family.", Hanako spoke with a soft smirk playing on her lips. She could be quite diplomatic and social when there was a time for it, though she was rarely offered the opportunity of a non-judgmental encounter.
It was all part of the facade to remain comfortable and confident, no matter the situation encountered. Though Hanako had to wonder, "How much did she see?" That time of training had been intimate and emotional. It was like a tooth with an exposed nerve that hurt when agitated, and Hanako didn't want anyone to see that things got to her from time to time. She was a strong warrior, and emotions like sadness and agony were for the weak. Hanako still had them, and it was a weakness she wanted to keep concealed. There was a slight feeling of dread and potential embarrassment building in the pit of her stomach as she spoke and interacted with the stranger as there was always that potential that the gift of medicated salve was out of pity. She did not want anyone to feel sorry for her or to feel like that they needed to give her charity because she had been alone and with no friends, working herself to an injury in a furious display of her killing arts of hand to hand combat. Regardless if she had been observed or not, the kindness was not going to be taken freely. Arina may not have realized it, but she had taken the first steps to making an ally of one of the hardest, toughest hearts that likely existed in Mist. Time would tell if this would be a friendship that would stand past this one chance encounter.Quote: Words: 778 Word Total: 637 + 1178 + 686 + 778 = 3279 EXP: 652 EXP

INDENT“Thanks,” the young woman said after applying the salve to her open wounds. She had a very distinct, almost wild look to her appearance. When she spoke however, she sounded just like any other student around her age. At first, she looked hesitant about approaching Arina but her demeanor quickly changed once she began to speak. The girl continued on asking how long that Arina had been nearby and how much of her training that she had seen. She seemed somewhat embarrassed by the prospect. The part that truly interested Arina was that of the woman and her station. It was only a few moments later that she announced her rank which was very much the same as Arina, as well as her name, “My name is Kaguya, Hanako.”INDENT“I actually just arrived and only noticed the wounds on your knuckles. I could not let you walk around and get an infection from open skin. My conscious would not allow for it,” Arina stated still crouched down over her shoulder bag which she had removed and placed gently onto the ground in front of her. “I am Arina Orasakai,” the young girl announced smiling widely with cheerful, approaching eyes. “I recently graduated the academy myself; though I do not remember seeing you there. My apologies,” She began to sift through some of the papers, books and notes while speaking to the girl who towered above her from this position seemingly looking for something in particular. “I am training to specialize in the medical field currently, so it only seems natural to help a fellow member of the village whether they are a shinobi or a civilian. Everyone is equally important, neh?” Arina questioned nonchalantly but was not really expecting a response to her rhetoric. INDENT“Here it is. It seems like it is trying to be rather difficult however,” the young girl crinkled her nose having a difficult time trying to remove the items from the folds of her bag. Inhaling deeply, the girl gave the item a hard tug and found herself falling back onto her rear with a loud ‘thump’ with the item in hand. “Oww,” Arina pouted slightly before standing up and wiping the dirt from her bottom with her only free hand. Once upright, the young girl held out her hand opening the palm to reveal what was inside. The small formed ball of oats probably did not look appetizing; however, the energy and the revitalizing feeling that Hanako would feel from ingesting the handmade snack would be worth it and honestly, the thing did not really taste that bad either despite its outward appearance. INDENT“You seem to have been training rather rigorously,” the young girl referred to the wounds that Hanako had accumulated, “This will take off some of the edge.” Admittedly, her medical knowledge and the items she created within the confines of her home helped her to socialize. The creations were not strictly for educational purposes and refining the knowledge that she had learned by putting it into physical practice. Arina was friendly and approachable in demeanor but she was not like most of the other shinobi, or even girls her own age. The girl had almost nothing in common with the others around her. She was far too busy reading and studying. She even had scribbles at home of custom jutsu theories that had been a work in progress since before she graduated the academy. More comfortable on her own than in the company of others, she found herself grasping at straws to continue conversations when she did not have one of her handy tricks of the trade to ease the process. INDENTArina did not know much about the Kaguya family other than the stories that she had heard from outsiders; this girl named Hanako Kaguya seemed kind and relaxed enough to be around even if all they did was train simultaneously in a similar location. Though, she still had not decided on what she was going to train at this very moment. ‘uggh,’ the young girl let out an exasperated sigh because her own expectations were very high considering that she had a rather high class mission approaching that she was completely unprepared for. Why would they send a fresh academy genin in the first place? Someone must have made a mistake. She took a moment to shake the thought and doubts from her mind and concentrate on the moment. Hanako Kaguya Hanako looked over Arina for a moment as the girl had provided her with medical treatment and assistance beyond the general act of a simple 'Good Samaritan', and it was greatly appreciated, though not visibly. It had struck a certain chord on the heart strings that had rarely been hit in the melody that was the life of Hanako, and to a degree, it gave her a foreign feeling of warmth paired with contentment. It was rare for her to find herself happy outside of the field of combat, and at the same time, this kindness and the company that hadn't instantly ran away when they heard her announce her family name seemed to make her feel like she did when she was beating somebody up. It presented a quandary, that quite possibly, might allude to the fact that there are more ways to feel happy than when in the heat of battle. It was something that would need to be explored in further detail, and at a later time as there were more important matters, like the fact that training still needed to be done in preparation for whatever might come her way.
The comments Arina made about her training and the like did not go unnoticed by the Hanako. It was true, indeed, that she had been training intensively and trying to push her physical strength and endurance to a new level. The impressive part about the comment was the observation behind it, and it was that deductive ability that clued the white haired taijutsu specialist in on the fact that her new companion she was sharing the training space with was a little more intuitive than one would first give her credit for, due to the clumsy nature she also seemed to possess, as observed by her falling on her rear end. "I train hard every day, Arina-chan. I push myself hard because I must be stronger than everyone else around me. It is my duty to my family to become one of the strongest ninja in the Village..no..", Hanako said as she clenched her fist and looked at it with intense determination before she opened it and gripped the bone that had pushed through it, ripping it out in a gruesome display of her kekkai genkai. "..It is my duty to be one of the strongest ninja in the entire world. That is my nin-do, my ninja way.", She said as she spun the bone weapon in her grip and aimed it at the tree she had been punching before looking over her shoulder to her companion with a wide, toothy grin of confidence. It was clear she had found her footing and were she wanted to take herself with her career, and there was joy in being able to share her dreams and aspirations with for the moment. "For the first time in a long time..I don't feel alone. Is this why I fight? Is this why I like to put myself against others, to force them to acknowledge me? Pssh..Emotions are for sissies, let's focus...Kenjutsu training, chyaa!", she thought to herself as Hanako put herself back in the flow of things. Though if one could read her mind, they would find a deeper, more introspective person than the brutal, extreme, violence prone individual that was almost always manifest on the White Rose's outer mannerisms.
The signature bone weapon that Hanako usually manifested, and had in this instance, appeared to be a lengthed, jian-shaped version of the ulna bone, the lower of the two bones located in the forearm. The weapon had a pronounced point, used to pierce the skin and the rest of the bone seemed a pure clean white. It was a lethal weapon, and was made of bone that was far more dense and sturdy than a normal person's. It was the power of the Kaguya family, to have incredible bone density and the ability to manipulate the calcium and cellular structure of their bones on a whim.
As Hanako began to go at the tree, slashing at it and then stabbing a few times with the newly formed weapon, she had to think about her audience, and she checked over her shoulder on occasion to see how Arina was going with making up her mind on the training and way she would go. There was noticed difficulty and some frustration hinted by the way her medical friend groaned in irritation. "You know, warming up with the basics is a good place to start...Hand sign practice, push-ups, sit-ups, and practicing chakra flow are potential candidates for putting yourself on the path you truly seek.", Hanako offered with some outside insight, hoping maybe that her advice may be of some use, but at the same time, her usual demeanor told her that it did not matter if Arina listened to her. All that mattered in the end was that Hanako would be the strongest and hold true to her ninja way regardless of the situation. With that in mind, she turned back to practicing her kenjutsu form, it would be her primary mode of offense, and as such, it would need to be perfect.Quote: Words: 861 Word Total: 637 + 1178+ 686 + 778 + 738 + 861 = 4878 EXP: 972 EXP

“I train hard every day,” Hanako said proudly even adding the endearing –chan to the name of Arina. While slightly surprised by this development, the young girl smiled brightly intently listening to the girl continue speak. Everyone became passionate when they began to talk about their goals and the things that were important to them not only as shinobi but as people, as well. Arina nodded while listening to acknowledge Hanako until she had finished speaking. Funny enough, the wild white-haired Kaguya moved on quickly from talking about her goal back to her training almost instantaneously. Arina was kind of timid when she first displayed her kekkai genkai ripping the bone straight from beneath the skin but curiosity always did win when regarding the bookworm. She watched intently the first few minutes of Hanako training and the kekkai genkai was a rather odd one. The girl could certainly understand the fear that might instill into the average civilians who had no understanding of the oddities that presented itself to those born into special clans within their villages. The young girl reached her hand behind her neck instinctively. While it seemed a natural motion from the outside observer of someone might have just been uncomfortable or nervous, Arina ran her fingers over the scar that presented itself just below the seam line of her clothing. Her mother had always called it a memento from her father whom she had never met. Honestly, it had always made the young girl feel nervous of what others might think if they ever saw it for themselves. “Warming up with the basics is a good place to start…,” Hanako said nonchalantly while continuing her rigorous training. Arina being surprised quickly pulled her arm back to the front of her body. For a moment, she had almost forgotten what she had been doing. After giving her small bit of advice, the Kaguya girl quickly seemed to get lost in her own training. It was a decent piece of advice and it was kind of Hanako to notice that she had been struggling trying to decide. Truthfully, Arina was still kind of waiting on her companion Sora to arrive but something more important must have come up. They did decide that their mission into Earth Country was going to be trained for mostly separate of each other. That would make them meeting up within the country mostly genuine where emotions were concerned. ‘I suppose that means I packed a separate lunch for nothing,’ the young girl thought to herself before looking towards her newest acquaintance. ‘Maybe…,’ Arina smiled lightly before finally deciding to move on to training, especially considering with the advice of Hanako, the girl had finally come to some sort of plan of action. Not to mention, it was too soon to tell whether or not this would be anything other than just a pleasant passing by. She took a few deep breaths trying to calm her mind. The first thing on her agenda of the day was a little avoidance practice as the young girl pushed off her dominant foot into the wooded area weaving quickly and gracefully through the bottom of the tree trunks on the ground. Left. Right. Left. Left. Arina jumped horizontally catching herself with her arms almost in the position of a handstand but instead, she used the momentum to propel herself up into the tree tops. She continued weaving through the branches from above working only from instinct alone. She realized in a real situation that she would probably have to be more alert to her surroundings; however, there was a certain importance in being able to naturally respond to situations and not needing to think through every move as a deciding factor. Muscle memory – It was a term that she was very familiar with in her line of studies. The majority of people that Arina had ever encountered did not realize how flexible this term was when even regarding technique or every day menial tasks. Jumping to the next branch, she caught the branch within the grasp of her arms allowing the chakra to gather in the soles of her feet to soften the blow before falling below. She landed on the ground in a naturally crouched position before something in the wood lines caught her attention. “Hmm… Oh hey,” Arina stated in a pleasantly surprised tone before trotting over to a small patch of assorted plants that probably had no distinctive pleasurable appearance to the common eye. “These will be highly useful in some of my medicinal salves and tonics,” the young girl announced proudly being careful while picking the plants from the ground because she was attempting to keep the roots intact for additional uses. Though admittedly, she also had a collection of healthy growing greenery over taking her room at the moment. She had been collecting for the past couple of months whenever she came across something useful that did not already have hiding in the confines of her room. ‘I really should find a new place to start growing all these herbs…,’ she allowed her thought processes to trail off before transporting the herbs over towards her strap bag. Arina pulled a rather pliable plastic wrap from within the confines of her bag wrapping it around the loose dirt and roots at the bottoms of the herbs. She grabbed some string tying it gently around the base of the flower making sure that the plastic was secured before placing the herbs upright next to the tree where her bag lay. “Are you hungry, Hanako?” Arina looked over inquisitively awaiting her response. Hanako Kaguya Hanako had continued her training with the bone weapon sighing out in controlled breathing as she worked with the bony blade. Her hand moved it this way and that as she practiced her finesse with the sword. Her father had told her of a technique used by her grand-mother. The Tsubaki no Mai, or otherwise known as the Camelia Dance, a technique that required precise control and high speed of the user's kenjutsu skills to be able to produce a flurry of strikes with the bone weapon that would be impossible to dodge, should an opening be provided in the foolish attempt. This could allow her the ability to put particularly speedy opponents on the edge of their limits, and break them down with a harsh barrage of stabs. She was a long way off from perfecting it, and would need to perfect the bone density of her bones she manifested for weapons and the like before she could effectively utilize the skill. This did not stop the white haired female possessor of the Dead Bone Pulse from attempting to practice the form and the motions, even if she had to manifest several bone swords, one after another until she was left panting from the exercise. There was the temptation to take a soldier pill and continue training for three days and nights, with no rest, but that notion was interrupted by a question from Arina.
Upon being questioned on if she were hungry, Hanako halted her training, and let the bone she had currently manifested sink back into skin and re-constitute it's calcium back in her stores. "I suppose I could relax and enjoy a bite to eat. What's on the menu, Arina-chan?", Hanako questioned as she approached the medic genin with a bit of curiosity in her expression. This kindness was another show of selflessness and charity, but there was no pity, this was kindness. It was odd for her to be the recipient of such a good fortune as this. Were the clan ancestors impressed with her hard work and had they sent her a saint to tend to her and make sure that Hanako took care of her health? It mattered little in that regard, but there was a hint of gratitude in her heart for having met such a nice person for once in her life. She seemed to stop and ponder a few brief thoughts while she awaited the response from her medic friend.
Hanako couldn't think of having ever met a person like Arina before. Most people Hanako met on the first encounter usually made her want to beat them mercilessly to assert her dominance in power and strength, but this was different. She did not feel the urge to repay the kindness she had been shown with violence. It was as if the raging demon of blood-lust in her genetic make-up had been soothed by the actions and attitude of her new acquaintance. "Arina must have some secret jutsu that makes her so darn like-able. That's gotta be it! I must be under a genjutsu...Nah, I'd be dead by now if that was the case.", Hanako thought to herself as she appraised Arina, before taking a seat next to her quietly, so as to not interrupt. Arina might have gotten the vibe that the young Kaguya female was trying to understand her by the way she seemed to lock herself in frequent and brief moments of introspection.
She didn't openly question why Arina had brought multiple lunches with her, but the observation was noted, that this had not been intentional. Still, if she were to share of her excess with Hanako, then the intended recipient of the meal would just miss out. Punctuality was a value of all ninja. There was a value in being at the designated place at the designated time. Timing was a key factor in many missions, and even in the heat of battle. This was a lesson and a reminder from her days in the academy, that made her keep some grace in the situation as she got comfortable in the shade of the trees above. The relaxation that had been afforded was welcome to her aching muscles.Quote: Words: 701 Word Total: 637 + 1178+ 686 + 778 + 738 + 861 + 937 + 701 = 6516 EXP: 1304 EXP

INDENT“What's on the menu, Arina-chan?" Hanako questioned approaching Arina which sufficed in confirmation where the young girl was concerned. She pulled a rather large, pliable nylon looking container from within the confines of her bag. It was slightly deformed obviously from being stuffed within a backpack which was smaller in terms of height. The young girl flashed a cheesy, awkward half-smile while trying to straighten out the material to make it look more presentable before removing the contents inside. “It is nothing special really. I made some curry and steam white rice,” Arina nodded in approval once all the kinks in the nylon lunchbox had been worked out. “Oh… I almost forgot,” she continued to prod through the backpack looking for a separate container. She pulled a green container with traced blue panda bear bodies covering everything but the lid, “Potato croquettes, too.” She opened the lid and set the croquettes in between the two girls, since Hanako had finally taken a seat nearby. Hanako seemed hesitant or at least, her demeanor changed somewhat in the past couple of minutes. Arina wondered if perhaps the amount of food she had packed was curious. ‘I mean I usually have a lot of food but this is a lot for one person,’ Arina opened the larger nylon box pulling out two separate containers which were filled with half portioned steamed rice and half portioned curry. One of the boxes was a bright yellow with a blue lid; on the lid, there was a buzzing bee which traveled from the left side of the lid to the right. The second box was a mild pink color and the lid was a light purple color with miniature rainbows covering the entirety of the container. INDENT“I have a preference for bright and colorful things,” Arina explained holding out both of the containers for Hanako to choose her preference or perhaps, she found them both embarrassing in which case the yellow was probably the least abrasive and colorful? “I was supposed to meet a friend here to train. His name is Sora but there a lot of things that have changed since we made our plans. I was not exactly expecting him but it would have been a pleasant surprise to see him,” the young girl explained a little bit of the situation. She did not want to go into every detail as the reasoning was not very important but she did feel compelled to help Hanako feel comfortable with whatever that entailed. “I think it all worked out in the end though, don’t you?” Arina grinned setting the appropriate container into the hand of Hanako. After freeing a hand, she grabbed the utensils laying them down onto a lid of one of the containers. Making sure that all the appropriate items were within the reach of her newest acquaintance, Arina grabbed the chopsticks and began to eat her lunch. The young girl felt like she was living in a world where she was continuously famished and nothing seemed to satiate her for more than an hour or two at a time. ‘The struggle is real,’ she thought to herself while taking a large bite of the white rice. She should have brought extra portions of the steamed white rice; it was her favorite part of any of her meals. Arina was sure to chew and swallow the entirety of what was in her mouth before beginning to speak. She looked towards Hanako to see if she could tell whether or not the girl was enjoying her meal, “I cook rather frequently. I have not had any complaints yet but if there is any advice for next time, I would be happy to listen. Try not to be too rough on me, I am still learning.” The young girl went out of her way to appear extra cute flashing the female across from her a cheesy smile and the peace sign with her right hand while sporting a highly over exaggerated wink. INDENTAfter her fun display, the young girl set down her chopsticks in the container after setting the food on the ground nearby and reached towards the potato croquettes. She brought croquette to her mouth and took a hearty bite. The warm mashed potato on the inside of the croquette melted perfectly in her mouth and was very tasty! ‘Perfecto,’ Arina thought proudly. She made a mental reminder to notate the alterations to her mother’s own recipe when she went back home in her notebook. Hanako Kaguya Hanako looked to the containers of food presented to her by Arina and smiled as she selected the yellow container with the blue lid and the buzzing bee motif on the top. It wasn't because of the fact that it was less colorful than the other or anything, but simply because blue was her favorite color. There were rarely complex reasons for the white haired girl's decisions or choices she made in life. Over-complicating things was just needless. There was not anything more important than just taking in the facts, considering the options, and taking the more favorable of the selections. Though, when people started getting into details and all of the tedium that came with that, it was then that the decision making process became an extreme annoyance. The selection had been made and it was now time to join her friend in the partaking of the meal that had been provided so she could keep her strength up for further training.
"Curry and rice is excellent; Plenty of calories and carbohydrates. Put it with the potato things...", Hanako remarked as she procured a pair of chopsticks and popped one of the croquettes into her mouth with a grin. It was delicious and once she had chewed and swallowed, she finished her statement, "..Plenty of energy for training." Then she resumed taking a few more bites while listening to Arina explain that she had intended to meet up with a guy named Sora. Well, it seemed like fate had changed up who her training partner was to be in this instance since the expected male had not arrived. Hanako was happy with the events and seemed the most relaxed she had been since their initial encounter when she was busy trying to brutalize a tree. Though she had asked for advice, Hanako offered none. She simply reached over and patted her on the head with a soft smile gracing her visage and she sat back and chuckled at the whole goofy, cute look. It was something Hanako could not likely replicate without looking incredibly foolish.
After Arina had explained the situation and spoke a little on her cooking habits, Hanako decided to pry a little more into finding out more about her medic friend. "So, you cook like this and one day you're going to find somebody may want to marry you. Heh, I won't even try to compete on the battlefield of the kitchen with you. I was raised to be a warrior, and fighting is pretty much all I am good at outside of the basics. Were you trained in this skill so you might one day settle down, or is this a hobby? Like bonsai trees or tending flowers?", Hanako questioned curiously. She had hobbies outside of fighting, but she was not up to revealing too much about herself until she was able to see how Arina was able to handle the question presented to her. It was a bit personal, admittedly, but it was the practice of intelligence gathering to know to ask personal questions if you were to get at the best bits of information to figure out just what type a person was at heart. It was part of the basics taught at the academy.
When it came to exactly who a person was at heart, few rivaled Hanako at presenting a front that usually turned people away from asking too much or trying to get involved. This was also due to her bloodline and the clan's habit of being prone to violence and combat. Power and strength, ruthlessness and excessive force; Those were things the White Rose of the Kaguya family had been known for in the Academy. She also had been known to go out of her way to beat up boys who said she wasn't much of a girl, or made remarks at how she'd never get married one day. Those fools had judged based on the surface, and if they chose to focus on the thorny stem of the White Rose, then let them feel it's sting without trying to understand the beauty of the ivory petals that would one day blossom into a beautiful, graceful woman as she had in the present day. She only wondered through her questioning if Arina was one of those folks who still looked at her based on the exterior or if she had tried to understand people as Hanako did.Quote: Words: 738 Word Total: 637 + 1178+ 686 + 778 + 738 + 861 + 937 + 701 + 750 + 738 = 8004 EXP: 1600 EXP

INDENTThe two girls were enjoying their meal and each other’s company; Arina was quite surprised when Hanako decided to further inquire about the young girl and her hobby cooking. She was excitedly waiting to reply when the Kaguya girl continued, “Were you trained in this skill so you might one day settle down or is this a hobby?” Choking on her food, she turned her head and quickly brought her closed palm close to her mouth as to not spread germs. The question had taken her by complete surprise, even though she realized that cooking was usually associated with the life of a homemaker and wife. It took more than a few minutes to recover from her miniature coughing fit caused by something going down the wrong tube in her astonishment. INDENTOnce recovered, Arina turned back to face Hanako holding her arms up across her body in what resembled a large ‘X’. She chuckled nervously and her cheeks sported a rosy red tinting as she continued to almost protect her body from the future of marriage with her arms outstretched across her body. She was much more interested in continuing her life as an aspiring shinobi before even remotely considering the life beyond. From the perspective of Hanako though, she supposed that it was not uncommon for girls their age to be thinking about boys. During her experience at the academy, the young girl distinctly remembered class favorites as well as those boys who were overlooked. This was all from a sideline view however as studying was much more important to the kunoichi than the misguided thinking of her peers. Finally calming her mind, Arina let her arms fall beside her body in a much more natural position and took a deep breath. “My cooking started as a necessity for the household when my mother and I first moved to the village. Until she met my father… She worked very hard to make sure that I was provided for even though the people we had met while in this village had been more than accommodating to our situation,” the girl stated cheerfully realizing that the comment about how her mother had met her father after she had already been born might have been somewhat of a confusing concept. The man had loved her mother very much and loved Arina just as if she were his own. She did not question that kind of bond because it had to be the bond of a father. INDENT“I found that I loved cooking during that period and just continued my practices on my own. I also love to eat food which I think attributes to my love of cooking,” Arina chuckled taking another bite of the croquette she had been eating. “I also love reading and to grow herbs… which I am sure you could tell from my gathering the plants from earlier,” she motioned towards the trunk of the tree where the plants comfortably lay supported by the trunk while the roots were safely guarded within the clinging plastic. “The hobby of growing herbs actually stemmed from when I first decided to become a medic and making salves like the one you used earlier. It can be rather difficult attempting to make those kind of things when you do not actually have any herbs,” the girl grinned devilishly while obviously taking a lot of pride in all of the hard work that she had done and everything that she had been able to accomplish on her own through her dutiful studying. INDENTArina was beginning to see how serious and dedicated Hanako was to training and really proving herself in this world which was dominated mostly by male figures and good for her, the younger generation could use some really strong female role models in their life and upbringing. “I hope you accomplish everything you set out to do,” the young girl realized that might have been a brash thing to say and possibly random as well; however, that was just Arina doing what she did best. She was a relaxed and almost naïve young girl who believed that with enough hard work that anything was possible. Despite the rather difficult start in life that she had being caught in the lands of the Yomi Clan war which ravaged the lands and devastated many families that she knew on a personal level, the young girl remained innocent , carefree, happy and optimistic. She had to be this way because after such devastation was there really anywhere else to go other than up? Everyone must have an opportunity for happiness, so why not her too? She was young and there was still a lot of her story left to write… People say everything is about perspective and this young girl wanted to have a good one. Hanako Kaguya The reaction she got from Arina caused Hanako to chuckle slightly as she ate. It was the classic reaction that she was sort of expecting, but it was good to see emotions and thoughts laid out in view. The Kaguya female listened intently when the medic kunoichi described and elaborated on what had drove her to become so skilled in cooking and the use of herbs in the art form. It made perfect sense and probably would make her stronger in her field of medicine, but this was not a deduction that the white haired kunoichi felt comfortable with revealing. The two were getting places in fully understanding one another and that would likely make for an easier time if they were to ever go on a mission together. Those bonds forged outside of combat usually made for stronger unity in a team situation, but she would never go so far as to suggest the two form a unit. Besides, such things were usually formed of three person cells, and with a jounin or at least a chuunin ninja to lead the group. They lacked two out of the four elements, so again, another observation kept to herself in the deepness of her introspection.
Then Arina said she hoped that Hanako accomplished everything she set out to do, and that was a really generalized statement, but at the same time, it was the first time anyone had suggested that they cared about her success in becoming one of the strongest kunoichi this world had ever seen. "Th-thanks, Arina-chan. I appreciate that. Though on the subject of herbs and gardening, I have a rose bush back home that I have left in the care of my youngest sister. That same rose bush was passed down to me by my mother. We have cared for it for generations. Flowers are the basis for many of our techniques, so many are surprised when they find out we actually care for them in our free time.", she explained as she tried to make sure her new friend knew that there was more to her than fighting and preparing to be one of Mist's most lethal weapons. She was a young woman, and also had things she did outside of honing her skills. Hanako smiled to Arina though after having explained that and she then took a water bottle from her pouch and took a drink from it. "Im sure flowers are utilized in medicines as well...Rose hips are especially beneficial in helping with a cold. You dry them out, and the seeds and dried hips from the rose plant are then brewed into a tea..Delicious and soothing. Might be something you consider in the future of your medicine?", She asked with a bit of a grin after sharing the family home remedy for the common cold and flu symptoms with Arina. It was a valuable bit of knowledge, even if it was just talk of herbs and seeds.
Though one might note that if the rose bush she spoke of was passed down from mother to daughter, that then why did Hanako pass her birthright down to her younger sister? Did she not plan on having children of her own one day? This was a true fact. She did indeed bank on the fact that she would have no children, especially not a daughter to pass that on to. Her dreams were dangerous and her goal needing focus and dedication to accomplish. There was no room for visions of the future to be clouded by the potential for a child in need of a mother. There was no room to even envision the possibility of settling down and retiring once she got to the top. Once her dream was realized, and her goal accomplished, she would be the one dealing with the constant competition of the others climbing the ladder of greatness below her, seeking to knock her off her tower of accomplishment by succeeding her. Hanako was able to understand that she would not be the strongest forever, and that her goal was to simply retain that for as long as she lived, but in the end, nine months off in term, and then the years of dedication that mothering took...She was not ready to have her dreams stunted, and thus the rose bush was in better hands of her sister who would likely pass it along to Hanako's future niece, and thus the tradition would continue.Quote: Words: 744 Word Total: 637 + 1178+ 686 + 778 + 738 + 861 + 937 + 701 + 750 + 738 + 802 + 744 = 9550 EXP: 1908 EXP

INDENT“That sounds lovely,” Arina listened intently to Hanako while she explained a little bit about her family and their customs. She was actually quite surprised to learn that the basis for Kaguya techniques were something simple and beautiful such as flowers. It was in this moment that the young girl realized that her knowledge regarding other clans and intimate knowledge of their techniques was something of a rather foreign concept to her; even her own clan which was from her father and his side of the family was something that she had been hesitant to research due to his leaving before she had even been born. There was actually a compound within Water Country where most of the family was presumed to live and while her mother assured her that the young kunoichi would be welcome there to learn more about their history, she was still very hesitant to understand or learn anything that pertained to that man or his lineage regardless of what kind of advantage it might have for her. That was probably something she should begin to research in her off time as that kind of information could be very helpful while in combat… Combat was something she should be getting prepared for because the Chuunin Exams always seem to creep up on the new and inexperienced genins catching them by surprise; often the err of judgment could be fatal. INDENT“Rose hips, you say. I will have to remember that; I may have read that somewhere but it escapes me,” Arina nodded her head making a mental note of that particular useful information. She would probably need to look a little deeper into it just to understand the chemistry and to see if perhaps there were other uses for which the plant could be useful. “It is funny you say that,” The young girl paused for a moment before continuing trying to put her thoughts into words, “Many of the items we use on a regular basis for our more traditional needs, such as cooking, usually have other health benefits as well. Ginger root, mint, sesame and turmeric are just a few of quite a handful of everyday herbs that have additional benefits from their intended uses.” INDENTThe girl had gone off on a tangent per the usual but during all of their conversation; she had been delayed in noticing that the entirety of her curry and rice had been finished off. She was sorely disappointed bring the chopsticks to her mouth and realizing that there was no more food to present. Arina sighed lightly with saddened look on her face looking towards the container which contained the croquettes and it appeared she had cleaned those out as well. On that note, she began to gather the empty container to replace the lids before setting them back into the nylon lunch box from which they had been initially taken. Once finished with the empty containers, the young girl set the box aside allowing Hanako additional time to finish. She hoped that the Kaguya would not feel compelled to rush because that had not been the intention whatsoever. INDENT“I do not have any siblings myself. Are you close? I would assume considering you allow her to care for your rose bush in the meantime? Are you similar or different?” Arina attempted to keep the conversation going by asking a few questions. She had hoped that the questions were not too personal and that the kunoichi would not be offended by her inquisitive nature. The young girl had never had any siblings of her own, so the prospect of an extended family was quite an interesting concept. Before the war that ravaged the Land of Iron, the Yomi clan was a rather inviting and close family despite being mostly extended members. She had even been known to speak with and interact with the clan head and his son from time to time, though he was quite a few years older if Arina remembered correctly. That was the closest point of associated that the young girl had to compare with but truth be told, she was rather content with her life and how it was now. Her mother and father had talked about trying for another now that Arina was older which would be kind of cool but if nothing substantial came from their conversations; the young girl was quite satisfied and still had a bright future for further life improvements.
