Hey. I'm Jasek. Duh. I only started playing on January 14 of this year, so my guys are on the new side. I hope to make up time with my lack of a life and willingness to play on weekdays and holidays. On Maple I play on the Broa server and I have: My Hunter, Jaysek, a level 49, with his now deceased intrepid farting cat, Toast, level 13. Fear his off-level clothes and his cat's poopy little pixels of DOOM. My level 43 I/L Wizard, Jaybird37, clueless and slack-jawed, willing to stare endlessly at nothing for the cheap, cheap price of free. You can be assured the name sewn into his underpants is correct, but the day of the week is not. My level 34 bandit, JayLower, a lucky little man with two high level sugar daddies to fund his threads and weapons. He was my reward for getting to 35 with archerboy, and in the time I've had him... he's hard. The following is an account of their assorted misadventures. No animals were harmed in the writing of this journal and it is probably not suitable for small children, woodland creatures, manual appliances, and of course, the illiterate.

Earlier this morning I was in Orbis and a warrior comes up and opens a trade. Wondering just what someone named 'worrior' might need besides spelling lessons, I accept. He asks to trade fame. I agree. I fame. I wait. I ask if he's going to fame me back, as this is what trade fame generally means. He walks away.
This is the second time I've had this happen, and it's why I don't trade fame. I did it today because I figured I might as well fame someone since I don't do it every day. I barely do it once a week.
I've also read the list of scams and found out I was almost scammed too, which delights me because the stupidity of both myself and the prospective scammer threw the spanner in the works. It starts like this: the scammer opens a trade and offers an obscene amout of money for the object. You, like the dope you are, put it in the window. Then the person says something to the effect of 'let me try it on. press tab tab space enter.'
This doesn't let the other person try it on. That combo of keystrokes sends the trade through and then ends it, with the item in the other person's grasp and you with no money you sucker.
But how it happened to me makes me laugh now, since my scammer must've been new to the scam too. For one thing, he didn't have me put the item in the trade blocks, I was wearing it when he told me to press the keys. He offered me 30k for my red starry bandana, while we were in Kerning. And after I told him he could buy it right next to where we were standing for 7k. But he said no, no, he had to get off in a second and he wanted mine. So when I pressed the combo of keys nothing happened and I don't think he knew why. He kept telling me to press them and I was, but he didn't tell me to take the thing off first. I was the one who figured it out, but then when I pressed the keys I noticed that by the time I was on 'space' the trade button was lit up and pressing enter would send it through. So I told him as much and he broke it off and signed off.
I love stupid criminals.

Feety So, do you play your mage? or do you play your bowman regaurdless of his skillpoints? I play them both, but confess I have more love for the bowman. The mage was supposed to be more of an experiment in proper skill building and to see if this Ice/Lightning stuff was as fun as it looked. SylverStar hiya Jay...I see you joined this guild ^_^ And I'll fame you...unless I already did...I can't remember. Hey Sylver! I did awhile ago, but you probably didn't see the posts. I've used the guides here too, like the pet exp table. It's okay about the faming, we can trade if I see you. smile Kitsune_rei Its hard to make a perfect character, my bowman's skills aren't quite right either Sorry I only play Scania tho. Quite alright. I said in the TF Maple thread that I think bowmen are the hardest to skill because none of the guides I've read seem to agree on anything. One says blessing, another says eye, one says bolt while the other says double shot. All are adamant about what's best and it's trying to know what'll be good for your guy or not. I figure if we were meant to have all of the skills maxed they would've given us points enough, and I don't sweat it. Though, if the 1 skill point move coupon comes into the cash shop, I'll do it without hesitation.

I must admit the urge to make a new account on Khaini is tempting. Just to see everyone start out at the same place. I will resist though, because all my friends are on the Broa. Much love to the Broa.
Slowly, very slowly, my funds are coming back. For a Hunter, I have an ungodly low amount of cash. I have 95k. Oy.
I got bored today. I did axe stumps at Perion (archer). Traded in some parts. I need to buy etc and use spaces again. I got both volumes of Maple History and heard the third is probably a drop from Ludi. I also heard that it's part of a quest and the reward might be a Chief Stan hat. I've seen the stats on that thing, and I want it. It looks ugly as hell, but I want it.

Quick entry before I snooze. Brought my hunter up to a percentage I don't look at and weep. Leveling will happen within the next few days. Magician did level, 20, with spiffy new threads I need to screenshoot.
Did fire boars with Meat and Tranq, and watched as both clerics died whilst I, bumbling archer with sarcastic cat, remained alive. Oh the irony. Anwen's shoe did not drop, nor did I expect it to. I'm at the point with luck that I'd be outright shocked if that shoe dropped inside the next two levels.
I gave my battle bow away to one of the TFers and now it bothers me because I can't remember who it was. I want to say Smite but it doesn't sound right. We two plus wiggy are the only hunters, and giving it to wig doesn't sound right either. Hm.
EDIT: It was Smite. smile
I got my first taste of haste a couple days ago via Loopy, and it was a two day trip, I tell you. I also visited Nath with Meat and watching as the cat slid after stopping walking was so funny. They ought to have snowshoes for the pets. If it had slid off a ledge I would've had to stop the game for laughing. We discovered I'm only slightly more effective against ice, fire, and regular sentinels than I am against jr. yetis, which is to say not at all. Leatties make a weird creaking noise when they die and I haven't decided if I like it yet. One of my parents' cats sounds like that when she meows. Meat said it was more of a whistle, and he's right.
Upgraded the morrican to the purple one since Luke the Guard seems to like giving me amethysts for his quest. Got the purple jewelry shoes, however overly-fussy that sounds, since I had an extra amethyst besides. Now if only there was a matching belt...
Did Pia, Alex, and Ming Ming's quests tonight with the magician. That is to say, all the stuff I hunted down with the hunter is finally not taking up space. I even have the hundred Charms from the ant tunnel forays.
Oh, must mention. I hate stirges.
Can't wait to wear my level 35 archer stuff. I'm so tired of the chainmail junk. It looks like a bad sweatsuit. Scrolled my raggedy cape so now it has +5 hp. Questioning if I should keep my red whitebottom shoes, or go for the red silky boots.
*yawns*
Time for bed. Goodnight journal.

I just added 'maple story' to my LJ interests, and went around to the other blogs that listed it. One was a blog comm in the vein of BRPS, and the second most recent entry was about this one I/L level 49 mage who'd taken 10k from a noob in return for partying to help him level.
It reminded me why I don't party noobs anymore.
http://community.livejournal.com/badmaplestory/29657.html#cutid1
I've been in the Henesys Hunting Grounds and partied noobs; I figure if I'm killing I might as well help someone out. Then they get bossy. They tell me to go kill the green shrooms and to hurry up so they'll level faster. They bug me for pots and arrows when it's clear I'm using them too. They send trade after trade begging with the whiny face. They say 'give me' and 'I need' and 'drop me'.
I never got thanked, and I never took money, not that it was offered. The second I was bossed I ended the party and then the stupid noob would follow me around with party offers. I had this happen three times in a row one night, and that was it. No more.
It makes me wonder what happened to graciousness. What happened to people's sense of gratefulness. When it became okay for those receiving help to be so callus to those giving it. In a small way it makes me despair for the current generation of kids and realize how true it's become for the nice guy to not only finish last, but to be walked all over by the time he gets there. It makes me wary of true kindness and perhaps react with a little more venom than needed in times of false offers. I was on my magician last night and a much higher level opened a trade to give me cakes. I couldn't fathom anymore that he was giving me them for free. I kept asking what he wanted for them, or if he wanted me to fame him. I think I offended him and I feel bad about it. I did thank him several times, and for that I'm relieved. It upsets me that I react with such caution to someone trying to be nice.
All I can do is empathize with that very nice person in the LJ entry and hope she has better luck. Without sounding cruel about it, I hope she's learned her lesson and only helps friends. It's a hard lesson to learn.
And, hoping I sound as cruel as possible, I hope those who take advantage of others like that get hacked repeatedly.

Ponderance. Red Silky Boots for level 35 or upgrading the Red Whitebottoms I have? I'm for the latter, as the silkys don't have speed and both have the same number of upgrade slots. And if I mess up the whitebottoms, buying new ones won't set me back more than 15k.
But still... hm.

I'm at pig beach with my archer and the cat. Suddenly this guy shows up, in nothing but his skivvies, not even a weapon. It's obvious he's a cleric when he starts healing himself. He runs around and he says 'noob', 'stupid noob', but he never specifies who he's talking about. I'm the nearest, but I don't care. Because if I'm a stupid noob, I'm not the one running around pig beach without a weapon.
So then he says, 'I feel like random defaming' and of course, he picks me. Then he smiles at me and leaves.
Oh and earlier? I threw caution to the wind and partied a noob who was bugging the entire Henesys hunting ground. He not only ordered me around, he told me to party everyone else he couldn't and when I wouldn't he yelled at me. He also died and told me to wait for him. I also did most of the work, as he didn't seem to have any red pots and had to stand there to regain his hp.
So it was a crap day all around, basically. Why is it the net constantly shows me the worst in human nature?
*sigh*

Another tale of general asshatery from the Henesys Hunting Ground, where I tend to gravitate if I'm bored. I was on the mage when this interesting little conversation took place. A kid named RyanRaccoon with a number at the end, I forget, starts bugging a bunch of newer kids. He calls them stupid repeatedly, and 'retart'. When they defend themselves he retorts that he's better based on the fact 'im white'. He then blasts Filipinos, which the other two are, and then starts following them around saying things like 'im gonna rape you'. One says he's scaring them, but he keeps up.
This absolutely delightful person managed to piss off the entire Hunting Grounds in a very short time, including several people who threatened to either defame him or report him. I didn't say anything, a crime in itself, I admit, but he tended to latch on to whoever baited him.
Seriously. Where are these people coming from?
