This was the day.
Last night, Xiu had called both Demi and Roch to let them know that she needed to speak to both of them together. She had requested that they stop by her room at around noon of the next day, and after a quiet good night to both of them, she hung up.
Now, on the designated day and time, Xiu was a nervous mess in her room. The inevitable talk loomed over her head the moment she woke up, and she found that she could only eat a few bites of her breakfast before she was no longer hungry. Seeming to sense his owner's anxiety, Arashi did his best to reassure her, hopping onto her lap and purring loudly when she sat down on the couch.
"Thanks, Arashi." She murmured, smiling weakly as she stroked the feline's head. Her gaze flickered towards the clock on the wall and she took a deep breath. "They should...be arriving soon." She had left the door open for her guests to come in.

Damien was never one to live off his eyephone, it was just a device for emergencies and mostly for boredom. days of playing Joyful birds and clearing every level was its main purpose really. But that changed as instead of watching the red and white striped animal dive in to poop on an human's fancy moving steel box, it stopped to reveal the word Xiu and a elegant ringtone to go with it. After a quiet conversation and a few moments of his dogs trying to bark out their hellos to the voice on the phone the call came to and end and so did the game. The baku sounded quite serious and in his mind it meant either of two things, Having a chance at a relationship with her, or getting his heart completely broken. Sleep was sure to be short and fleeting until noon approached. It didn't take very long for him to find out which dorm Xiu was in, he could practically smell the sweet pastries that she always made wafting through the halls. It still didn't ease the monarch butterflies feeling in his stomach. Little did he know the situation was only going to get even more awkward.

Roch wasn't surprised to see the dog boil heading for Xiu's room. In fact, a tiny little smile pulled at his lips as he sped up to catch up with him. "Yo," he said. "You ready for this?"
So he knew her answer with this. He had kind of seen it coming. It didn't mean it didn't hurt, but... well... He could at least fake a grin through it, right? Demi being here might make it easier to keep it to himself.

She could hear their footsteps down the hallway, and was able to make out the vague sound of Roch's voice. Taking a deep breath, she stood up--clutching Arashi to her chest--and started towards the door. When she saw the two of them making their way down the hall towards her, the Baku offered the pair a weak smile.
"H-hi, guys.T...thanks for coming." Had they been able to guess what this was about? She wouldn't have been surprised--after all, Xiu was quite obviously unable to hide the anxious expression on her face despite her best attempts to do so. She almost didn't want to do this--perhaps she could make up something about why she invited them over--but...no. She was going to do this, and she wasn't going to take the coward's way out again. Her friends hadn't spent so much time listening to her and giving her advice for nothing, after all.
"Please...come in and have a seat. Could I...could I get you guys anything to drink? Or to eat?" She knew that she couldn't avoid the subject for long.

Roch may not have been surprised, but Damien sure was. He never imagined that Xiu was so malicious that she'd want to break someones heart in front of somebody else. "Hey, I guess I'm ready as i'll ever be." he replied back reluctantly. Looks like that cake he brought from the bakery yesterday was going to be finished after this. At least it wasn't covered in pink frosting like from the food contest. Not long after the uncomfortable silence that settled in did the door open to reveal Xiu and the place she called her dorm. It was a decent room and he had no qualms about entering, not after invading the tatzels place for cooking. "uh yeah, thanks for having us over Xiu. uh.... do you have any Ice cream in your fridge? I'd love some right about now please." he asked kindly to her. Honestly he just felt like he needed something sweet before the salt of tears started to flow.

"I can't eat for a while more," Roch said quietly. "But thanks." It was such a strange statement until you thought about the 64 pieces of food that he'd eaten the night before. Then it was a wonder the guy was still alive.
"Relax," he said to Demi quietly. "Just let her say what she has to say."

Ice cream? "Y-yes! O-of course! U-uhhh..." Xiu started towards the kitchen area, but paused when she realized that she was still clutching Arashi. Letting the feline fall gracefully to the floor, the Baku skittered nervously into the kitchen to retrieve a bowl of ice cream for the boil. When she returned, she thrust out the ice cream towards Demi, her ears drooping as she offered him a tiny, sheepish smile. "I-I figured that...you wouldn't want the chocolate ice cream, so..."
Okay. The Baku's gaze shifted towards Roch, and she realized that the reaper had probably already caught on. This thought made her droop slightly in shame, but she tried to divert attention by gesturing towards the small dining table, indicating that they should sit down. She slid into one of the chairs, clasping her hands on top of the table and staring down at them.
"...I-I'm sorry, guys. I...I'm sure you already know what I wanted to talk to you two about."

Damien wanted nothing more than to bark at the other boil to be quiet and lash out at him for any reason, but Roch was right. Xiu had something she wanted to tell them and he had to listen. He still accepted the bowl from her hands graciously and dug the tiny spoon in for a small bite. "Thank you, you remembered." he said quietly before taking a seat on the couch, and nodding in response to her question.
He was still amazed that the ghoul figured it out, seeing as how he didn't tell anyone, actions do speak louder than words he assumed quietly before taking another bite and locking eyes with the dream eater.

What was this, a jackin' meeting? Roch looked at the table, then sighed and headed over to sit down as she wanted him to. So it wasn't easy to turn down two guys at once, huh? Well maybe that was a good thing. Maybe--
No, you jacktard. Don't even think of pushing the blame onto her. When you do something you know is stupid, you're the one to blame if it blows up in your face. You learned that young, remember?
He didn't say a word, merely sprawled in the seat, looking at the table instead of her.

It was now or never. Xiu only waited until the two of them had settled into their seats before she spoke. She didn't look at either if them at first--instead, she closed her eyes, trying to focus on how she was going to go about this.
"...D-demi, Roch, you...you know that I really, really love you two." There was a pause, and then she raised her head so that she could look between them, her hands trembling. "I love you guys...in the same way that I love Lizzy, and Shun, and Mitsu, and Riley, a-and...and..." She stopped herself before she could get too carried away. Clearing her throat, she continued, averting her gaze.
"That...being said, I'm...not sure if I'm mature enough for anything beyond friendship. N-no...I know that I'm not." This had only become clear to her after she stepped back and realized how big of a deal she was making this whole situation. Of course, she had to be sensitive, but she had practically broken down in a panic when she learned that Roch and Demi had--for some time, at least--no longer been friends. That had been evidence enough that she was still too young for this. "Maybe...someday I would be, but...but not now."

Demi was thankful it was such a small bowl that it had only a few spoonfuls in it, especially after the heavy news. it was strange, there was no tears welling up from him as she finished, nor was there angry whispers in his head. It was all quiet and expected.
the bowl was gingerly put down after the silence stretched between them, not without letting out a soft clink to be remembered by as the hound struggled to find his voice. "I- I understand." the hound said quietly, letting the message sink in that it was nothing more than rejection. "I'd rather have you as a friend than lose you because of these feelings." he replied back before looking over to the goofy boil that he was elbow to elbow with. "The both of you that is."

"Maybe someday, huh?" Roch asked quietly, a tiny twitch pulling at his lips as he looked up at her. "You probably shouldn't have said that to me," he told her. "Because y'know, I'll jackin' wait."
He actually felt relieved at this statement. He let out a little laugh. "Time's the big problem? Look, you already admit that you love me--sure, as a friend, but hell, that's better than being hated."
He looked at Demi. "You see where I'm comin' from, don't you?" He looked at Xiu. "Do you really think that's enough to stop a guy like me?"

Xiu suddenly stood up from her seat, moving around the table so that she could hug Demi. His words had hit home with her own feelings throughout this whole thing. "I was...scared that I'd lose your friendship," She admitted quietly, looking between the two boils, "B-but if...if you're willing to remain as my friends, then..." Then that was all she could ask for, and if the two boils were friends again, then...
Then that's exactly what she hoped for.
She reached over to hug Roch as well, though his words made her freeze a bit. After a moment passed, she meekly added, "I...I...d-don't know. I-I just...I'm not ready to um...think about this kind of stuff right now."

Demi knew better than to admit that he would wait too. After how the Baku reacted to Roch's and their momentary falling out, she didn't need that hanging over her delicate shoulders. "Roch, weren't you the one who told me to relax? take a little of your own advice." he scolded softly before idly playing with the spoon in the bowl. "When and if the time comes when she ready to choose, she'll choose, but the way your acting right now isn't going to help in the matter."
He didn't want to bicker with the boil while Xiu was kind enough to try and hug it out with them, maybe eating all that food from yesterday gave the reaper indigestion and got him all grumpy all of a sudden. "I doubt you would ever lose our friendship Xiu, right Roch?" he said in reply to her. It never dawned on him that she was most afraid of losing that.
Damn, love really is blind.

"Nah, I told her several times she won't lose me," Roch said, still having that little smile on his face. "Hey, Demi, what team are you on for the field trip?" he asked the boil, since in his mind the conversation was over. Waiting? Hell, why not? He'd never liked a ghoul before, who could say if he'd ever like a ghoul again? Did he even want to?
"I've got Danny, Moure, Rikki and G," he offered.
