The litter that our young lad was born into, was a litter of lust, insubordination and adultery. The mother was mated to a powerful and creepy, old lion; she was kept sane by a younger mostly pink lion that was assigned to her for her own safety. When it was discovered that she was pregnant the king "allowed" himself to be convinced that he was the father of the litter (he was a little daft as well), and since he had many enemies in the surrounding areas of the pride lands, he sent her away for the cubs to be born.
She demanded that her guard come with her, as well as three other escorts he chooses and a healer. Well, the pride healer told him that she was very close to popping, so he gave her anything she wanted in a way that could be seen as a form of neglect. The king only saw an opportunity for an hair to his throne, instead of noticing the pride's unrest with his obvious stupidity and narcissism.
Of course the Queen's lover chose three other guards that were on his side, and the healer that came along was the best in the town, and couldn't stand the King. The group of lions went far to the other side of the pride where there was a huge cave, which the entrance to was hidden by a maze of willow tree branches.
The healer was right, seven cubs were born the next evening! One set of twin girls, one set of twin boys, two more boys and a girl. The new mother and father rejoiced and there was celebration amongst the males, but the healer discovered there was something wrong with the mother; she couldn't stop the bleeding. The new father spent two hours alone with his lover as they named the cubs and said their goodbyes.
Just four cubs were taken back to the King to be raised as royals by the healer and two of the guards. The three cubs with the most pink, including the eldest boy, the boy from the set of twins, and the runt girl, were left with their rightful father for their own safety. The guard that remained with the heavy hearted father helped him bury the queen with much sorrow.
The two guards then set off for a safe place for the cubs to be raised. However just three days into the journey, the father was bitten by a poisonous snake in his sleep and suddenly his friend was left to raise the cubs as rouges.

The guard's name was Kiape and around the time when the three cub's were in their youth stage, he found them a pack of rogues also with cubs in it to travel around with. Within that pack there was all sorts of animals, sometimes old members from the pack would catch up with them, other times they shared fermented fruit with strangers. It was sort of a gypsy way of life and the cubs had found new friends as well as 'motherly' influences.
The litter's of four leo cubs belonged to a hunteress that was kicked out of her pride because she had been taken advantage of by a leopard while hunting one day and inter-species mating was zero tolerance in her pride and the pack of random animals became her new home. Kiape started by going out on long hunts with Jingpa, leaving their litters with the pack elders to play and become close friends.
Dubbed Kifalmen'Doto by his mother, the eldest cub was the only one that seemed more interested in doing things by himself rather then with a group. He could usually be identified by his pink mane at far distances, it proved to be very difficult to hide for him and quite easy for those looking for him when he went missing.
The story of his origination was one the cubs' most favorite stories that Kiape told them, and while it put the others to sleep, it gave Koto energy! Knowing that his parents did so much to keep him safe, he wanted to start saving other creatures! Much bravery and cub naivety amounted to extreme behavior as he began to reach his next stage in life.

Now a juvenile, at Kiape and Jingpa's commitment celebration, Koto and a few of his brothers (blood and otherwise) got into the fermented fruit and went for a swim in the ocean. They all laughed and splashed water around, then one of their step brother's got a cramp in his hine leg. Thorne shouted and screamed as he struggled to stay surfaced, this was the perfect time for Koto to spring into action!
And so he did!
Koto dove under the surface and came up underneath his new step-brother and began his swim to the shore, holding him by the scruff of his neck. Proudly he dragged his brother to the shore and dropped him then bowed as the others cheered him on and congratulated him.
There were fully dried off when they noticed that their brother had still not gotten up from where he was dropped off, the effects of the fruit had finally warn off as they realized the gravity of the situation.
The healer they had visiting with the pride had told the cubs over and over again that it wasn't their fault and the seizure would have taken him rather he was in his bed or in the water. But still, Koto felt responsible for it.

If you were to draw a picture of the seven cub family while they were in their adolescence, Koto would be off to the side, with his pink eyes on the ground and his whole body turned away from his family. It was only logical in his mind to spend more time alone. It was in this time alone that he became aware of his gift, making music with his mouth. He called it "BeetBoxing".
His family all loved him very much, but he wouldn't listen to a word anyone would say. To stop Koto from getting into fights, which he would only sometimes win, Kiape eventually had to restrict him to the family cave.
The young lion became his biggest enemy and his only friend.
When a problem presents itself, a solution shall also follow. This problem was being confined to the cave, the solution was to sleep most of the day, and stay awake most of the night. The nighttime offered him serenity, no faces looking at him, saying how disappointed they are with him with their eyes. His siblings all had crushes, or plans for their futures while he had still only his shame and regret. Koto felt as if he were the black stain upon his white ivory family.
The solution for this problem was obvious, leave the pack.

One evening, before Koto opened his eyelids to greet the early evening, he knew that day was the day he'd say goodbye to his sleeping family and be a bother to them no more.
Through the day he made no indication of his plans, and while the entire pack was resting, he left. That was the day he became an adult.
From that day he tried to forget the past, take an 'hakuna matata' attitude on life. In doing so, he's gotten into some fights and had some sense knocked into him a few times.
Many years later, he's now a mature, light hearted, highly guarded, open, dangerous large lion. The crest on his shoulder provides proof of his rightful place as a King in a far away pride, but he had no interest in going there or taking it over. He had no interest in any prides at all, they all seemed too shady.
Now in his mid- prime, the lion finds himself looking for somewhere to go back to on a regular basis. Somewhere that is comfortable, safe, and has good access, as if he could stay there for a considerable amount of time if he needed to, or maybe even wanted to. Perhaps he will also soon be looking for someone to share that space with, or perhaps even see what it would be like to be a dad. One thing he definitely missed was having a family, that's for sure.

But Kifalmen'Doto did not find any place or anyone to settle down with. In fact, while thinking back on the few years that passed between his new adoption of the 'new attitude' the thing he remembered the most was walking and the least was speaking.
Of course he had gotten himself into various situations as every traveler does at some point, and even the once-royal lion found lessons to pull from each interaction while in meditation as he continued his aimless walking.
An epiphany he had one rainy and gloomy day, brought about the next phase in his life.
