Querl has always been a bright lad. The most intelligent youth in his class, and when he heard the stories of the neighboring town of Silent Hill, he scoffed despite the insistence of his friends that the tales were true. Determined to prove them wrong, Querl ventured across the interstate despite the protests to investigate this mysterious town.
Querl entered the suburbs of Silent Hill and the first thing he noticed was a cold fog that stretched everywhere. He told himself repeatedly the stories were untrue, but could not deny the chill that raced up his spine. It was late, and he decided to come back first thing in the morning (yeah, that's it!), but when he turned to leave the way he came, he saw the road was no longer there. There was merely a gaping chasm.
Cassandra Sandsmark, the self appointed priestess of the Church, the holy sanctuary against the darkness that was Silent Hill, heard of the new arrival in this damned town. Nobody dared come to Silent Hill -- ever! The only safe place was in the Church's hallowed halls, thanks to her she would often remind her followers. So the only explanation was that this new arrival was yet another devil, brought on by the darkness. A devil that would have to be destroyed for the safety of her flock.
Querl walked the streets of Silent Hill, looking for any sign of life, and a way to return home.
Priestess Sandsmark searched for the demon to eliminate him from her town.
Both would have to work fast before the darkness would again come, and the unnatural entities that would accompany with it.

"Illogical." Querl turned down the street marked Main Street, whisps of fog circling around his feet. "A drop in barometric pressure, some localized weather phenomena. That's all."
He often talked to himself when he was faced with a problem. Like the jerks back at school who spent all their time talking about their silly superstitions about Silent Hill. This would shut them up, once and for all.
In fact, he would go into the local grocery store, buy a Silent Hill bumper sticker and plaster it across the face of the biggest jerk in school, Rokk Krinn. That would show them.
"Heh. Yes, indeed. So it's quiet and there are no people out and about. It's the weekend. These sleepy small towns always roll up the sidewalks at six o'clock." Clutching the backpack of 'survival gear' his girlfriend Kara had insisted he bring with him (and rolling his eyes at the thought of it as he did), he turned and entered a building marked "General Store."

It didn't take long for the news to reach Cassandra, an outsider had come to Silent Hill. But no one EVER comes to Silent Hill she sneered knowing it must be another devil brought on by the darkness. It never ends. She took to the streets and saw someone enter into a store.
Outside the General Store approached the priestess Cassandra, she had a long hooded red cloak made of fine silk which hid her face rather well, just a few locks of her golden hair seemed to have fallen out and were moving with the gentle cold breeze that almost always seemed to be present in the small town.
She knew an outsider had come, a demon sent to destroy everything. She must send this hideous beast from whence it came as it was her job.. no her duty to protect this town at all cost. Cassandra gripped onto her weapon, a holy lasso made of gold which shone brightly.
Cassandra slowly made her way into the store to look upon the demon scum with her own two eyes... Then she caught a glimpse of something... something green. She sneered as her lasso glowed bright giving off it's holy energy.
" FOUL BEAST! SHOW YOURSELF!"

Querl looked up from the aisle where he'd been perusing a map of the area. He thought he'd heard someone yelling. Still holding onto the map, Querl stepped out of the aisle.
"Hello?"
Something near the front of the store was giving off a bright, yellow light. Since it beat the creepy semi-darkness of the rest of the store, Querl ventured towards the light.
"Hello, is someone there?"

Cassandra saw what looked like a green man approaching her and she frowned.
" Bold one aren't you devil. No matter I shall not be fooled by your trickery"
Cassandra lassoed the green hell spawn with her glowing golden lasso and flew up toward the roof with the green beast dangling from her lasso below.
" Time to send you back from whence you came"
Cassandra flew off carrying Querl out of the store and was headed for the church,

x __________________Just then, the darkness fell. But it was impossible! As the eyes of the followers of Cassandra looked heavenward, there was the startling sight of the moon moving across the sky and toward the sun. What was this? There wasn't an eclipse due in over forty years! This simply couldn't be happening! Those on the ground below stared in startled horror as the moon moved before the sun, and the shadows deepened until there had become night within a day. And with it, the evil that lurked within the night slowly emerged.... The followers were out in the open, prime targets, as were Cassandra and Querl... And across Silent Hill itself, all could hear the sound of a child giggling.

"Let go of me!" Querl shouted, in a panic. The darkness was falling, and as it did, he felt as if his memories were fading with the light.
Was Querl Dox really a boy who wandered into a cursed town today?
No....that had actually been years ago...and since then, he had been trapped here. Confused and wandering by day, but by night...
He looked up at his captor, Cassandra with glowing red eyes.
"Join us, sister..." She had been right all along. And now she and her followers would pay.

Cassandra was somewhat bothered by the sound of a child's laughter but she had other things to be concerned with.
" Never! Wretched Beast!"
Cassandra called out to her followers.
" GET THE CROSS! WE MUST BURN THIS DEMON SPAWN BACK TO HELL!!!"
His eyes... they were glowing. Cassandra tightened her grip upon her golden lasso. She had a duty to protect the town's people after all.

"Why don't you join me?!" Querl slithered out of the lasso and melted into the shadows. It's true, once he was a lost boy who wandered into Silent Hill, but now he was one of the denizens of the dark, and they wanted nothing more than to take Cassandra's soul and drag it down into the depths of Hell.
The shadows around Cassandra seemed to darken, and the sounds of children singing could be heard.
"Ring a round a rosy
Pocket full of posy
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down!"
The song kept going, faster and faster, louder and louder, until the lyrics changed.
"Ring around Cassie
Circling the lassie
smash her, bash her,
tear her down!"
Shadowy child-hands reached out of the darkness and started pulling at Cassandra's clothes and hair. Querl's face appeared close to hers.
"Abandon your faith and join us! God has forsaken you already!"
