CLANG. Cainan's hammer drew sparks as he brought it down upon the white hot metal before him. He turned the tongs in his grip, adjusting the angle of the scythe he worked on. All around his smithy the town was getting ready for the harvest festival. It was still a moon away but it seemed the Mearas were already celebrating. For Cainan though, harvest meant more than festivals and ceremonies. It meant hard work as farm tools were brought in for sharpening and repairs. So while everyone else was out decorating or planning for the feast he was bent over his anvil hammering away in the heat from the forge.
After a few more swings Cainan set his hammer down and plunged the finished blade into a bucket of water, cooling it down before setting it aside. He stood and stretched, peering out the window to check the time. Just a little after noon. It was time for a break and a meal. He removed his gloves and hung his apron on a hook before stepping outside and sighing as the slight breeze cooled his sweating face.

Cainan waved as he noticed he was being watched. "Hello! Sorry I didn't see you there. Can I help you?" He removed the scarf from his forehead and dunked it into the rain barrel beside the doorway and wiped the soot from his hands and face with it. He then extended his hand to Flame. "I'm Cainan by the way"

Cainan chuckled and shook his head. "New around here huh? Harvest isn't for a couple of weeks yet, but you beat the rush at least! If you haven't a destination in mind how about joining me for something to eat down at the Inn?" He wrapped an arm around Flame's shoulder and gestured down the street.

"Perfect!" He clapped Flame on the back. " Some of the best stew in town's down here! Now what Really brought you down this way so ill prepared?" Cainan's hooves kicked up dust along the road, it was still early enough in the season that the rain hadn't turned everything to mud yet. A few pale clouds dotted the sky but other than that it was a decently warm fall day.

That got a roar of laughter out of Cainan. "Oh boy! Best you be careful around here!" He chuckled again. "Our Fillies tend to bite back!" A minute more brought them to the door of the Inn, being midday there was a decent crowd but the rowdy night crew hadn't yet descended upon them. Cainan sat down at the end of the big table. It spanned the far wall of the room with long benches on either side of it. There was a bar counter to the left of the entrance and a fireplace(now empty) and a handful of tables to the right. The center was left open for dancing whenever a bard chose to stop in. He gestured for Flame to sit across from him and waved for the bartender's attention.

"Good luck with that buddy!" He ordered them a couple drinks and bowls of stew, both of which were brought promptly. " It's on me today." He lifted his stein in salute before taking a deep drink. "You could say so. One of our largest festivals is coming up later this month. The whole town kind of gets turned up side down with all the preparations and excitement. It's a surprise we even get the harvest itself in each year." He chuckled. "If you're sticking around for any amount of time I'd say at least try and make it. We've got one of the best displays in all of Meardhon!" He gave a wink to Flame. "With all the good moods I'm sure you'll find yourself something pretty to take home as well!"

Cainan laughed again. "Whoo! Risky business that is! I can see you'll give our town a run for it's money. As for settling, that's a grand idea! There's always room for another pair of hardworking hands, especially around harvest time. There's a couple vacant properties around here in town or If you've got the mind to, you could buy a few acreage of farmland and build your own place. Plenty of good carpenters here to help you out with that. I've got a city map back at my place. Once I'm done with my work for this evening you can I can look it over and I can show you the locations that are available."

Shydia slowly walks into the inn after a long and exciting day of preparations. she silently sits at the far end of the large table, and orders her self a bowl of stew. she smiles happily as she spots the two older men at the opposite end of the large table. she can tell what was on the one males mind, giggling to her self over the idea.
