Lattice wanted to do her art outside as sometimes happens. There was just something about being outside and enjoying the air of Halloween that made her more at peace and quite happy as she sat at a small table she had found at a cafe, granted she had to buy a small cup of poorly made tea in order to get the privilege to seat herself there and work but that was a small price to pay.

She quietly doodled designs on the backs of small cards as she just ignored the passing and goings of others around her though a time or two someone would bump her table but she managed to not make mistake yet and the ink seemed to be behaving today!

The current theme of the deck was spiders. Small pink spiders.

Christof had been off to... do whatever it was the creepy quiet boy did while hunkered alone in the dark with a knife and questionable things on his bed, but now it was time to put the wheelbarrow back. That was when he spotted the pretty young ghoul tending to something. He remembered spotting her in Mad Science, hadn't he?

He left the wheelbarrow for now, quietly creeping up to investigate. Ah, she was... painting? Or something? He did doodling sometimes, but even his blueprints were scribbles compared to Barth's blueprints. Art, at least the drawing painting sort, were not his strong point.

He had barely made a sound as he loomed behind her, peering over the first year's shoulder curiously.

She had stopped for a moment but not because she had grown tired of the task and not because someone was looming behind her but rather to simply get a look of her handiwork and just set it aside once she deemed it to be done. Lattice leaned back in her seat a bit the back of her head coming into contact with the looming form behind her causing her eyes to widen behind her mask and her head slowly tilted up and back a bit to try and get a view of the shape behind her. Was she startled? Yes. She hid it well though.

Due to the odd angle she didn't quite recognize it.

"Greetings, am I taking a seat you want?" She asked softly though she had the seat first she had no issues moving just yet.

The figure shook his head, although the movement was more than likely lost save for the twisting of the ink smudge on his nose from the leaky pen in his pocket. What was her name again? Hell's Bells, he couldn't remember. He had seen her around a lot, but the ink-creature had never been formally introduced to the hunchback.

He leaned in to get a better look at her cards, brows raised in appreciation. She was very good! Perhaps she'd like to paint flames or something on the side of the doom buggy? Probably a bad idea. Knowing Barth he would prefer Zzz and little clouds.

It didn't take long before her eyes zeroed in on the smudge of ink she saw moving about it let her know that he did shake his head and also he had shook his head confirming that he didn't want the seat though there was somewhat of childish urge building within her as she slowly and quietly reached up and poked at his nose with a small smile, "You got something on you."

Lattice was being playful.

There were a few moments before she seemed to make sense of the form before her, "You are ... the one that taught Mad Sciences?" She asked curiously.

The moment the finger touched his nose, the hunchback staggered back with a flush. she was asking him something? Confirming a fact. Right, right, he nodded this time, bashfully, and glanced away as he tried to rub his nose off with his sleeve, but only managed to make matters worse.

His hands dug into his pocket, searching for his notebook and that blasted pen he should probably have thrown out.

She saw him stagger back and wondered if she had said something wrong but he didn't turn around and flee. Lattice sat up a bit straighter and turned a bit in her seat so she could watch him. It seemed he had a notebook in hand and was digging around in something - presumably a pocket. Lattice tilted her head as she reached over to her table and picked up one of her own ink pens that she happened have out while working and then offered it over to him.

"Here, Teacher," Lattice murmured having no real memory for what his name was or if it was even mentioned, she'd been too focused on building and keeping Xiu company.

He accepted it gratefully, but flushed at the title she had given him. He shook his head, scribbling down quickly:

Not teacher.
Just helping.

After a few moment's hesitation, he added a bit self consciously,

Enjoyed the class?
Did not have much to work
with as far as curriculum.
Only what was in the
notes left to me.

She didn't see the flushing so that was always a plus. The ghoul watched curiously and then looked over the words he'd written in ink and then nodded, "I see, I see. You did wonderfully, I enjoyed learning the things you and the other taught us. It was very enlightening for me. Though I did not do too well," Lattice said with only a little disappointment.

"It was fun to try something new though! I also built something using the kit you gave out, it was...Relaxing." Lattice continued on softly not really wanting to get in further details other than that.

"Did you enjoy teaching everyone?" She asked curiously.

He shifted nervously, rubbing the back of his head as he carefully thought about the answer before writing:

Not something creatures
like me usually do.
Worried. But... yes. Did enjoy.
Worried, but enjoyed.

It was good it seemed like the Homework had been a good exorcise. They were only Kits he had purchased with school funds, but the lesson hopefully passed forward a bit easier than with junk. It HAD gone well. And he hadn't heard word from... from his Master about it, so he couldn't have done anything... BAD per say... but even so, the ingrained guilt of the situation was difficult to shake. It was also difficult to communicate to those who might not understand his position.

She was fine about waiting for a response and when it was done she read it and the ghoul nodded slightly, "I see, I cannot see the specifics of your person. May I ask what you are? Does it make you mute?"

For the most part she couldn't recall ever hearing the youth plainly talk or if it was it was just in odd broken sounds or sort-of speech that she couldn't make out. Then again it might have been someone else and she was just being confused.

The flush returned to his face, although she couldn't see it. His eyes scanned her mask, brows furrowing as his mind churned, both digesting her and her questions.

Finally, he wrote:

An Igor, Miss. A type of
Patchwork. Built to be
servants. We obey. We
are told. We do not usually
do the telling.

Are you blind, miss?
Never seen something like
you before.

He paused his writing, memory churning over faces he had seen in the hallways and about campus and in classes.

No, wait. One other.
Never spoke directly.
Relative?

Lattice seemed interested in his answer as it was written before she answered she waited patiently for him to add a small tidbit as well so she could easily answer him all at once taking each item he offered and giving a response, "Ah a patchwork! How interesting. So then you are a servant? Do you serve everyone or just one?"

It wasn't that the ghoul was plotting to boss him around she just was genuinely interested how the servitude worked.

At his next set of written words she shifted her shoulders, "I am mostly blind yes. I can see shapes and things but I cannot make out color or definition unless ink is involved and even then I can only see the shape the ink makes most of the time."

As of yet rubbing an entire face with ink didn't really offer any 'defining' features for her.

"Yes I have a Twin that attends the school, her name is Needle. She is a wonderful Sister," she said with fondness creeping into her monotone. "Do you have siblings?"

His smudge of ink on his face nodded for him as he scribbled out:

For a Master. Still...
sorting that out.
Should not take more
Masters than Master Barth
and Mistress Riley or Mistress
Riley will have my hide and
Master Barth will be sad.
Am Happy to help friends, though.

The next question made Christof's mismatched face pale, not that she could see it, his brows furrowing as he stared at the paper.

Sort of He crossed it out

Not a brother. But other creations, yes.
Not like me at all. Different. Very different.
All sold but one.

Lattice recognized both names Riley and Barth from the elections and even recalled Christof's little 'speech' that included both of them in it. Suddenly it all made so much sense. "It must have been hard on you during the elections then to work between the two of them since they seemed to be rivals..."

The ghoul nodded a bit at the written words despite the one scratched out, honestly she would have accepted any answer given to her at all and that would have been fine, "Ahh, I see. That makes sense then."

The Engraver decided to move on to other topics, "You enjoy building things then? Seeing as you taught a class all about it."
