Having slipped away from the female that had stolen all his reason and attention, Acanthus was out on his own for the first time in... well... he couldn't quite remember how long. He had left his parents and sister as soon as he hit adulthood, and had not been back yet. The mare that had caught his eye had him playing right into her grasp, but Acanthus didn't feel ensnared or anything of the sort, for that matter. He was head over hooves for her, and had not yet learned of her simple use for him. But though he wanted to do anything to impress her, it felt good to get a breath of fresh air and wander off by himself for a bit. He would head back soon, but first he wanted at least a short expedition.

The terrain was rather rocky in the area, often hard to find footing for his rounded hooves, but luckily the stallion had his wings to save him from falling either on his face or down a cliff-side. The greyness of the day spoke of rain or even storms to come, and at that thought, Acanthus grinned. His ear twitched back and forth as he wondered whether there could be lightning, oh yes, that would be interesting, he would think. He liked storms, he liked how unpredictable they were and how they were never constant. Tail flicking left, right, left, he tread rather heavily forward lost in thought, flapping his feathery wings when need be to keep his footing steady.

Ashe stood beneath a tree relaxing, the wind tossing her hair as the air began to whip of for a storm. She could feel the air pressure dropping, it would probably be lightening soon. She had been determined to get home, but as soon as she saw the storm approaching she had decided to wait out it's beauty here alone. Lutherian would probably be worrying about her back home, because it was his job to protect her and all the others. But...she pushed aside any more thoughts on the matter. This was a day of freedom not of questioning purposes or feelings...or anything but abandoning one's self to the storm.

The wind felt good, running through and ruffling through his feathers, lifting his wings and making them bob slightly. His inkling eyes actually preferred this sort of weather to any other, they didn't have to work as hard, nor did they have to burn from the brightness of most days. And it was those inkling eyes that picked out a figure from a distance probably further away than most would be able to process. A small, dainty form, female, or at the very least Cerynei, he was certain. He kept on his way, adjusting his path just a little so that he would make it towards the other. He wondered what they were doing out here, faintly, but the time to ask would be when he got a little closer. He didn't want to yell at her from a distance, after all. That would be rather unkind if he startled her.

Some inherent since caused Ashe to look up from her musings, to where she saw something descending. Spiraling. It was like some mythical creature made of storm, but apart of the storm. She couldn't tear her eyes away from it as it drew closer and more distinct. It was not, after all, anything but one of her kind. Well, not her breed, but her kind. But he was unique, unlike others. But she didn't speak as he came more into focus. Was this some phantasm, a dream of a storm? Or not?

As he drew closer and closer to the other soquili, he realized that he was not only right, but he was doubly right! It was in fact a female Cerynei that he had spotted and was headed towards. Her coat was a mix of white, orange and black and she wasn't unpleasant to look at either. Nothing compared to Fathom, of course, but hey! Now within speaking distance (at least in the calm between gusts) Acanthus shook out his wings once, twice, and then folded them up against his sides as best as he could, not that they wanted to stay there in this wind but he tried nevertheless. A nod, "I'm Acanthus. Nice tree you've found here." His eyes twinkled, implying he was jesting, and both his ears pointed forwards, waiting for a reply from the other.

She took in the black dancing eyes, just like a storm in themselves. "Feel free to share it with me," she smiled as she watched the wind ruffle up his wings and her hair. Scooting a little further aside so he could come under if he wanted. "I'm Ashe." She kept her eyes on him, noticing his heavy build and horns. The deep, soulful rather than soul-less black eyes and tie around his neck made of a small bird skull, "Are you enjoying the storm too?"

A small bow of his head in thanks, one could say, was offered before Acanthus took a few steps closer before making a wide turn so as not to step on the mare at all, before he settled in next to her. She said her name was Ashe, he turned his head to look at her, though had to adjust his gaze down, as she was a few hands shorter than him. "Nice to meet you." He took those moments to look her over in a little more detail. She felt... calm but not quite still to him. He decided he liked her. Looking back out to the cliff-side not far off and the darkening sky behind it, his mane whipping about his head, sometimes obscuring those dark eyes of his, he replied, "Oh yes, I love storms. They're unpredictable. And they don't rest. Strong, and fierce." Sometimes he spoke like his father, strangely enough, but he did also inherit the size even if he didn't inherit the excellent hunting skills. Only one ear concentrating on the mare now, though, the other seemed to dance in the wind, sometimes forward, sometimes to the side.

"They're amazing aren't they?" She had always loved storms. Others were terrified of them or surprised or whatever. But she loved to watch their beauty even if they did cause destruction, but then a storm had never hurt her. But so had fire, and she did not fear it. Acanthus was tall, broad. Mutely coloured, well blending. But his hair was the colour of the darkened clouds before a storm. "My pleasure to meet you too." Her voice was kind, a bit lilting. She had been moving and adventurous, her body was still but inside there was calamity and excitement.

He could feel the excitement within her, as he knew that feeling all too well. He could never sit still for too long, he always wanted to be moving, if not to new areas, then at least keeping busy and doing something, anything really. He hated stillness, and constant same-state. Those were boring, why would anyone ever want that? It was something that he did not understand, though he knew that most others looked for stability, or at least patterns in their lives... it was not something that Acanthus believed he would ever understand. Several small nods and a smirk of sorts, exposing that he did possess canines, though the rest of his teeth were regular he did have some Kalona blood in him. "From around here? I'm just out for a while, been in the area for a bit but I don't know how long we'll stay here."

Ashe nodded, so he did have kalona in him. It didn't bother her though, why should it? She hadn't met anything yet that she couldn't handle. "Not exactly. Quite a few miles away. I needed time alone away from the herd. Sometimes...civilization is so crushing. But I don't think I have to explain that to you? You don't look like you like to sit still much." She smiled in a friendly fashion.

She was keen, Acanthus noted. Always a good quality for any female to have, well, really for anyone at all to have. What she said was true though, every word. He didn't like being oppressed either so he had no arguments there, and as for sitting still, hell no, that was not his style. "Agreed. Much too boring to sit still for too long. I like to do things. You know? I mean, why spend your time doing nothing when you could be doing something?"

"Exactly," she laughed pleasantly. "No reason to be a stick in the mud when there's adventure to be had!" She watched as the ligthening raked the sky, and lit up as the thunder boomed. She marveled at the sheer beauty and excessity of it. "Storms are such a good show. Flashy, brash...they don't care what anyone thinks of them. They just rage on and on..."

And there it was, as if the storm were agreeing with their conversation it finally came in full bore. Thunder boomed and the sky lit with golden forks, commanding his attention. He looked out at the changing sky, but the conversation still held him here. He chuckled, deep and throaty as might be expected from one so large. "Might be where I get my spirit and energy from." More chuckling, as he played with this thought. It's not like he seemed to get his restlessness from his father or his mother.

"I guess in that sense we're related. I don't think any of my family would have been so...volatile." She watched as the lights danced across the sky and wind started to blow rain in her face. "But I like it that way, makes me different. But it's nice to know others heart beat to the heat and passion of the storm."
