WHO: Lazarus and Eirdirsceol WHEN: 2pm WHERE: Durem Public Library WEATHER: Bright with a bit of wind
Lazarus had passed by this building before numerous times when he was running errands, but he never went in. And now here he is, floating at the entrance where a few young teenagers were walking pass with books in hand, probably research materials for school. Like usual, the fire Sigel was out in Durem running errands on this fine day. A few light bulbs had burned out in the Lab and needed replacing, they had some spare but they are running out fast so he decided to venture out to get some... and maybe visiting the public library too while he's at it. Although to tell the truth, he could have gotten the light bulbs somewhere nearer to the Lab, he just wanted an excuse to visit the biggest library in Gaia.
For a moment, Lazarus wondered if he should go in. He wasn't a reading person at all, the most he read are baking or drinks recipes online, and the occasional trashy celebrity magazine on the side that Kyou buys once in a while.
However... Xiu does... In fact, Xiu's favorite pass time is reading! It could be that Hazeline's family runs a book store. So surrounded by books, he was bound to find interest in them eventually. There had been more than one occasion when they were out dating, Xiu had dragged them into a book store on sale, or when he was looking for a book that could not be found in Hazeline's book store. So curious, Lazarus had asked Xiu to recommend a few books to him. Maybe he could try out this... reading thing.
He caught a few side glances as people passed by, which made him felt a little self conscious. Advancing forwards with the eco-bag containing the light bulbs in hand, he decided to venture in since he is already here anyway. What he did not notice was the look of surprise on the lobbyist's face, like she had seen someone like Lazarus before.
The building however, was just so huge! There were numerous doors leading to different sections in the hallway. Feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed, Lazarus proceeded through the biggest set of doors right in front of him. The hall he entered was fairly huge, with tables set in two rows with a row of book shelves in between, and endless rows of book shelves all along the sides. Where should he start? Moreover, there was an upper floor to the far side of the wall too, with a spiral staircase that leads up. The fire Sigel was at a total loss. He did not even know which section he is in currently. Maybe he should look for the fiction section...? An expression of confusion was clear on his face as his red eyes darted uncertainly around the library.

The library was so huge that its many tall windows and skylights did nothing to dispel its shadows. Lights and sconces were planted throughout the building, dispersed between the shelves and planted on every column, but somehow, someway, the library still retained that cold and spooky feeling that Eirdirsceol Etul Delaran thrived on. He flit from wall to wall, a pile of books in his arms which he held with both hands, using his telekinetic powers to lift them up from the book tower he carried and back to their appropriate places on the shelves. He grinned while he worked, scrunching his nose underneath the period glasses he wore along with his "uniform" a period coat and cravat that hugged closely to his shoulders and chest. He liked working in the library, despite the embarrassing method by which he came to be hired there. Stealing books, being discovered, and then working to pay off the interest owed, was nothing that Eiry wanted to recount to curious folk who asked about his coming here, but...In a way, it made him smile. He could laugh at himself. And he often did, chuckling to himself and talking at the books as if they were individuals as he tucked them away to their appropriate places. He had gotten better with books, actually doing his work while he was in the library instead of getting quickly distracted and sitting down to read them. He was a hard worker, and a quick one! And his abilities provided endless help.
"Where...Where...Wither and where..." he mumbled to himself.
Sweeping through the biology section and into the main atrium of the library, Eiry squinted at the next set of books in his arms awkwardly leaning back to read them, before he gave up and promptly dropped all the books in the air. Before they were able to fall all the way to the ground though, their pages opening up to flap and cackle in the silence of the library, they paused and hung around him as Eiry opened up his hands, one of which was bandaged, and orchestrated the organization of them by section. He looked down, calling up a rather heavy book on medical history, before he noticed something far below, drifting among the reading tables. It was a quiet floating figure, a body with wings...No...Only half a body. Eiry's red eyes widened behind his glasses and he squinted, hardly believing the calculations that worked out in his head. Lazarus!
"La-!"
Eiry covered his mouth to keep himself from speaking aloud. Lazarus hadn't noticed him yet, but, chances willing, he could give him a surprise! Eiry couldn't help himself, grinning ear to ear with fondness. Then, willing himself intangible as he hung in the rafters above Lazarus' head, hiding in the shadows, he opened up his arms again and threw them forward, sending a flock of books to flap and snap about Lazarus' head like a murder of crows.

As lost as he was, he had to start somewhere right? Floating down the hall, red eyes surveyed the rows upon rows of book shelves, he was about to enter the general fiction area when a bunch of books fell on him from above. Wait... they weren't falling! Lazarus realized the next second in horror as he raised his arms to shield his face, the books does not continue it's descent to the ground, but float persistently at him. He was attacked by books! Alarmed, he began to fling his arms at the books, pushing them away from him. His wings flapped in an effort to get rid of the mobbing books as well. Thankfully, the books all fell to the floor uselessly once it was flung away or when it hit the book shelves.
When he had got rid of all the books, he was already panting from all his efforts. And obviously, the huge spectacle attracted almost all the attention in the library as glasses peek out from behind books and eyes stared at him in bewilderment. Coloring a little, half from embarrassment and half from anger, he peeled his red eyes from the general population and stared upwards to see who the culprit was.
"Eiry?!" He exclaimed aloud, disregarding the rule that one should remain quiet in the library. The minty Raevan was wearing an old fashioned coat with old fashioned accessories, but the pale complexion and green hair was unmistakable, it was Eiry. "What in the world are you doing?!" There was an accusing tone to his question, there was no doubt in his mind that Eiry was the one who sent those books flying to him. However his telekinesis powers (at least he think that's it) was unknown to him. Must be something new.
The crowd begin to whisper as the two Raevans faced off. Realizing this, and not wanting to attract more unwanted attention, he disappeared into one of the many rows of book shelves to stay out of sight.

The ghostly prankster released his laughter once he heard his name called. Diving down from the ceiling, upside down, Eiry hung above Lazarus' head, giggling with joy at his success. The prank had been overwhelmingly wonderful! A complete success, a trick to be put into the books! LITERALLY! The books! Eiry laughed again, louder, hardly able to keep himself floating above Lazarus with any kind of gracefulness.
"My, my!" the minty Sigel exclaimed, "How wildly wonderful! The look on your face was precious, my friend, priceless! There was no thought of yours that could explain a murder of books, it showed upon your face! A gaze of confusion, wide and wild! My, Lazarus, how wonderful it is to see you!"
Swerving in the air, Eiry began picking up all the books he had sent upon his friend, flicking them into the air to float back into his arms with the twist of his wrist. Thankfully, telekinesis of small objects like books took very little toll upon Eiry's energy, and he was able to move about with very little sign of strain. His magic abilities were powerful, but most of all, he had stamina to keep them going with even the littlest of magic. He beckoned and summoned all his books back into his arms, stacking them in a neat pile against his chest before he set them down on a nearby table. He had to have his arms free if he was going to give Lazarus a proper greeting! Spinning forward again and leaving his books there, confident that no one would go picking them up until he returned, he followed Lazarus into the shelves, his face still cracked with a gleeful grin.
"What am I doing in the world? My, only earning my place! I am a librarian now, it is my duty to relocate and organize books, send those who are wayward back to their homes on cozy shelves! I am following out my duty, good sir, and yourself? What ever are you up to in the heart of paper and leather, the grand library of Durem? One would think you would stay away from such places, being a fire hazard as you are!" Eiry laughed again, quite amused at his own jokes, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
He floated by, eagerly awaiting Lazarus' answer, his wings open and hanging around his shoulders. "It is good to see you, Lazarus, bearer of the awakened flame, a pleasure, indeed!"

Eiry said a lot of things, and Lazarus wasn't sure they were meant as compliments or not. Eiry had been known to speak in riddles and rhymes, and it is not a type of speech the fire Sigel easily get used to. He just watched irritably as Eiry stacked the books back together and set them on a nearby table. The minty Sigel's only saving grace is probably his useful powers.
"You shouldn't be sending those books on a wayward path then." The fire Sigel said sarcastically, referring to the incident just now when Eiry attacked him with flying books, obviously still irritated. Opening his mouth, he was about to say more spiteful things when a librarian walked pass outside. Perhaps they shouldn't argue in a library like this. When Eiry joked about him being a fire hazard, he just gave the minty Raevan an angry glare. One more joke like that and he might just punch the joker in the face.
Calm down. He told himself, taking a deep breath. He was just riled up by the unexpected attack just now. Eiry is just being well... Eiry himself. He'll never change no matter what he says.
"It was good to see you too." He added with a tone of sarcasm as he turned around and headed deeper among the bookshelves, his voice softer than before. There was more people walking pass outside and peering in curiously, perhaps on purpose to see what the commotion was about. A girl had even boldly walked into the same corridor, pretending to look for a book. But Lazarus could tell from the glances she is stealing at the both of them that she wasn't really looking for a book. Maybe if they disappear from the scene of the crime and lost sight of the library dwellers, they will leave the Raevans alone, because all these unwanted attention is really not helping.
Sighing as he floated into the next row of books, not caring if Eiry followed along, he tries to turn his concentration back to the reason why he was here in the first place - to find the books Xiu recommended, and try to ignore Eiry. Then it struck him. Perhaps Eiry could redeem himself by telling him where to find the books he needed. "I'm actually here to look for these books." Lazarus said as he produced a list from his bag, a hint of disdain still detectable in his tone. "Do you know where they are?" It was a short list, with Sherlock Holmes, Lord of the Rings and The Pillars of the Earth among the books recommended. If Eiry doesn't know where to find these books, Lazarus would conclude that he is a failure as a librarian.

Like a ghost, he silently wove around Lazarus' form, giving him a full look over, interested to see his friend who he hadn't been able to see for so long. He looked as great as ever! And honestly, there was a fond feeling fanning a flame in Eiry's heart, one that reminded him of earlier times. When he was just a young frei, it was Lazarus who coaxed him out of the Lab, who took care of him and guided him around for the time that Isi was stuck in a hospital, unable to welcome the frei into his home. Lazarus was very much a big figure in Eiry's eyes, as well as a family member in some way. Perhaps an uncle? Or a cousin? Eiry didn't know. All he was sure of was that this sigel meant a lot more to him than other raevans outside of his immediate family sphere did!
Giving a helpless shrug of his shoulders, the raevan smiled and emulated the very figure of apology, tilting his head low and giving the older raevan a dose of puppy eyes. "I couldn't help my playful nature! I do so love playing pranks on others, and recently there's been a drought of playfulness. There's no one to play with me! It's so lonely here in the library sometimes, despite the many authors inhabiting it, but they don't take kindly to jokes nor frivolity. I meant no harm to you, Lazarus, only a fun surprise for the first friend I ever made!"
The librarian passed by nearby, and he noticed that Lazarus' tense shoulders released, calming himself as a moment of silence passed between them. It looks like the other was calming down. He turned around though, and floated deeper into the book shelves, and Eiry, naturally inclined to follow thanks to his wisp nature, did just that. He didn't mind the people staring at them, sneaking glances left and right. He had gotten used to the strange wide eyed glasses that had been turned to him the moment that library goers noticed that their librarian had no legs. Eiry, instead, happily followed after Lazarus as he floated into the next row of books, not understanding that the sigel was irritated at him for his prank.
Hearing his question as he turned around to him, Eiry raised his brows, a wider grin appearing on his face as he was sought for. "Ah! Yes!" he exclaimed cheerfully, taking the list with the gesture of his hand. He pushed his reading glasses higher up on his nose, looking down at the list. Interesting, he thought. These books were....Not really what Eiry was suspecting from Lazarus. He didn't think that his tastes turned towards books in the first place. Noting the list and murmuring to himself, pulling up his memory of the library within, he nodded, tapping the side of his glasses.
"Yes, yes, of course, I have memory of where these books are! I know their homes, where they hide, for they are friends of mine as well! I've read them before. I will bring you to these immediately! Follow me, friend," Eiry beamed. Taking the list and giving a saccharine smile, he gestured towards Lazarus to follow him towards the mystery section.
"I never once imagined that you would be interested in reading such books, Lazarus! What has piqued your interest?" asked Eiry, hoping to continue the conversation with his secret idol. They were, after all, both raevans of flame. Although Lazarus' flame was one of life, and Eiry's one of death.
