The stormy weather had frightened all of the nearby game into hiding. Laertes didn't want to bother with rabbits or birds hidden beneath the dirt or within holes in trees, and there were no deer around that he knew of. But then, the fox was new to this area and forest, and coudn't claim to know much about it at all. All he did know, was that he was saving himself from the rain with a hollow between the roots of an old, large willow tree.
It was a beautiful tree, in his opinion, and right next to a river. Useful, also, as he could remain dry. On a slight hill, all the rain's run-off water flowed away from him. The storm only consisted of rain and wind, no lightning threatened his peaceful, temporary home.

The vixen looked up at the sky watching the clouds turn from white to gray to black telling of a pending storm that was sure to cause some damage in some form. Her glow brightened and dimmed as she watched the sky. She liked storms they were so interesting including the lightening. That was her favorite part but she hated all the damage that a storm could and cause in the area.
But as she examined the clouds more she was able to tell it was only going to be a rain and wind storm. No lightening to excite her. Her glow dimmed and she started walking again. Not to worried about finding shelter. She knew where to go if things got really bad.

Hidden in the shadows of the willow tree and its trunk, Laertes watched the outside world lazily. The rain and winds set entire forest in constant motion. The branches and leaves were never ceased to rustle, a little violently, in his opinion. Laertes stared at a particularly young and flimsy tree straight ahead of him. It was interesting to watch the thin trunk completely sway back and forth. It took a while to register the existence of a vixen standing just behind the swaying tree. Laertes clearly wasn't being too observant at the moment, because she didn't exactly blend in. She was mostly white and gray, but there was something about her that glowed blue. Still the vixen he was staring at was quite a distance away, and still down a slight hill from where he sat.
He was slightly curious as to who she was, and why she seemed to radiate the color blue, but at the same time, he didn't exactly want to have to approach her. Laertes resigned himself to remaining hidden beneath the tree, although he wasn't really hiding.

Jahel watched the sky darken and a shadow pass over her. Glancing up she noticed that there was an unstable tree swaying back and forth behind her. Side stepping it she walked further past the tree that way if a strong wind did make the tree snap and fall it wouldn't land on her. Her glow dimmed at the thought of being smashed by the tree and made her shiver.
Shaking her self she darted to her normal hiding spot when the weather got to rough only to find that there was another there taking shelter. There was a slightly awkward air around them as she stood there looking at him wondering if she should leave or stay.

Laertes just watched her from the darkness as she approached quickly, and the next thing he knew she had joined him under the willow tree. He was sure that the vixen hadn't known before that he was there, but she did now. For a long moment they merely stared at each other, and it was slightly awkward. Laertes weighed his options quickly: he could leave, she could leave, or they could share the spot since it was probably large enough for the two of them. Given the state of things, he certainly didn't want to leave. At the same time, he didn't exactly want to force her to leave, since that would be rude.
With a sigh, Laertes inched slowly to once side. "You don't have to leave if you don't want to," he told her. "I'm sure we can take cover from the storm together in here."

Jaleh cautiously stepped in. She hadn't noticed the male till it was to late since he was such a dark colored fox. "You sure? I can always make a bolt for another tree or cave." she said making sure that this was indeed what the other wanted.

Laertes shook his head. "There'd be no point," he replied, "and besides, what sort of fox would I be if I forced a young vixen back out into the rain. We can share, I insist." He examined the glowing vixen from up close now. The source of said light, or at least the cause behind it, was still a complete mystery to him.
By now it was probably obvious that he was staring, and why. "You don't mind my asking, do you?" He began, indicating with a small nod at the glow around her back. "How is it that happens to you? The blue light, that is."

Jaleh shrugged "Well I don't know. Though it wouldn't be very nice but some foxes are like that," She said shivering and shaking off some of the water. They sat there for a bit but it was starting to feel a little odd so she shifted and that's when he said something.
She blinked and sighed some. It was always her glow that attracted others but she answered him anyways. "I'm not sure I was born like this and so was my mother it's just how it is you know?" she asked him.

"Good thing neither of us is like that, then," he said, offering the vixen a small smile. He noticed her sigh at his question; she was probably asked that too often for her liking. "Ah, yes I see what you mean." For her sake, Laertes decided that was all he would say on the subject. Looking out at the seemingly endless downpour of rain, it was his turn to sigh.
"Seems like we'll be stuck here for a while," he said. "Should that be the case, would you mind telling me your name?"

"It is an excellent thing that neither of us are like that or it could cause some problems," Jahel commented with a cute smile. She felt relived when he let it drop. But on top of that she was glad he wasn't to obsessive about her glow like last boyfriend. It was a bit odd.
Glancing out into the world that they were hiding from she nodded. "Yea it sure does. Oh yeah my name I forgot to mention it huh? That's rude of me. Anyways it's Jahel. Whats yours?"

"Don't trouble yourself over it, Miss Jaleh," he said. "I have yet to give you my name, as well. It's Laertes. And welcome to my humble and temporary abode." He glanced around them at the hollow under the tree they had taken shelter in.
"It really is a wonder the roots of this willow tree can comfortably fit the two of us. Can't say I'm actually used to staying in a small space for too long, though." Laertes allowed his eyes to drift back to his companion. "Are you from around here, then?"

Jahel blushed some when he told her not to worry about it. She didn't know why but she blushed. "Laertes huh? What an interesting name... I like it, " she said with a smile as she thought it over. She glanced around " You know what? I like this tree. I've passed by here many times and always have thought it was interesting. Though I didn't think it would be able to fit two fully grown foxes, I'm glad it can. As for living around here yeah I guess you could say that. How about you?"

"Thank you," Laertes said, being rather fond of his own name himself. "And yes, I must say this tree has been rather good to the both of us for these last few minutes that we've been under here. I'd say we should both be rather thankful for it. I'm afraid I don't really live anywhere. I much prefer travelling, and this is my first time in the area, unless I've been here before and simply don't remember."

"Your most welcome. Does it mean something special? Your name that is?" Jaleh asked in curiosity. She nodded her head in agreement that the tree had saved them from the storm brewing outside. Just as she thought that lightning flashed a crossed the sky blinding everything temporally with its light. "So if you travel a lot than where do you come from? You've at least stayed in one place while being a kit right?"

Laertes thought about it for a bit before shaking his head. "I don't believe it means anything," he replied. Then again, he hadn't exactly lived with his parents long enough to ask. But that was something he didn't want to bring up. Laertes was a rather private fox, and didn't like talking much about himself. "What about your own name?"
Laertes again thought back to his kithood. He actually grew up rather nearby, as he had on a whim decided to head back there when the storm hit. "We're actually not far," he replied. "I lived in the small wood a couple of miles on the other side of this river." The willow sheltering them being next to said river. "But it's really nothing special. And yourself?" As often as possible, Laertes was the type of fox to turn the conversation so that the others were doing more of the talking.
