The day had finally come. Mitsu was heading out to meet Shun for her first day or defense training. Nervous didn't even begin to describe how she felt about it but she knew training would be in her best interest. She had went ahead and changed into what she would be working in; a loose t-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes and of course her mask. Hopefully that would be okay. If not she did have her bag with her with a change of clothes inside, though whether Shun would frown about the mask was uncertain.
Leaving her room Mitsu locked the door behind herself before heading out of the monster dorms and toward the fitness club room where they agreed to meet. The lycan knew she was going to have to work hard. Fighting, even if it was only defensive fighting, was outside of her realm of knowledge and understanding but it would most definitely be helpful for the future. If anyone could teach her though Mitsu was confident Shun could. It was just a matter of her absorbing what was taught.

Shun still wasn't entirely certain about this endeavor, but Mitsu seemed to be pretty determined to have him be her sensei for self defense. He never attempted to teach anyone anything, so he really wasn't sure how this was going to go. With a sigh, he made his way over towards the fitness room to meet with her.
Once there, he looked around to see if there were any signs of the werewolf while he had his gym bag loosely hanging from his shoulder.
All the while, he was trying to make mental notes of the sorts of things he should go over.

Trotting across the school grounds Mitsu finally found herself outside of the fitness club. It didn't take her long to locate the reaper waiting for her and an unseen smile started to tug at her lips seeing him. Hopefully he hadn't been here waiting long.
Coming to a stop beside him Mitsu turned her head up toward Shun to that she could see him better through the mask. "You haven't been here long have you?" She asked wanting to make sure. The werewolf was pretty sure she wasn't late but that didn't mean she couldn't have overlooked something in their planning to meet up.

At first, he didn't see anyone around, but it wasn't long before he heard Mitsu coming up from behind. Turning around, he slowly shook his head to her.
"No. I just got here," he said quietly. The girl was already dressed for action it seemed. So much for any last minute hope that she might have found someone else to teach her, "Are you ready for this?"
As he asked, he opened the door into the fitness clubroom, letting her go on in first.
"Ah.. while I get dressed, go ahead and start stretching and warming up."

"Yes, I'm ready." As ready as she would ever be anyway.
Stepping in through the door as Shun held it open for her, Mitsu gave a short nod in return to the reaper's instructions. She could do that easily enough. As he left toward the locker rooms Mitsu set her bag aside and started to do warm ups like she was accustomed to before normal work outs. At least this much she could manage on her own.
While she warmed up Mitsu's mind began to wander. She started to think back to when she had stumbled upon Levi and Shun's little sparring match...or rather the tail end of the match where the tatzel was choking the reaper out. H...he wasn't going to do that to her was he?

It took little time for Shun to switch to his workout clothes, so before long he had joined Mitsu out in the main area so he could stretch and warm up with her. He still wasn't really sure how he was going to go about this, but he'd have to come up with something. He supposed he could try to start at the very basics... or would that be going too far back?
He didn't know.
"You said that you've had no defense training at all right?" he asked to double check.

Pausing in her warm-up Mitsu looked up toward Shun. Slowly she shook her head, she wondered if that was a bad thing or if it would make learning more difficult. "No, not really. I never really had anyone to teach me."
Her brother had never been bothered quite like she had, also his general size in true form seemed to ward people off. She wasn't nearly as big so she was certain she wouldn't be as intimidating.

"Alright," Shun nodded while thinking. Letting out a sigh, he finished warming up before turning towards Mitsu.
"First, you need to have a proper stance. If you have a good stance, you'll have better balance over all, and be able to maneuver a little easier too," he started before standing to demonstrate to her, "Try standing like this. Look carefully at how my feet are positioned."

"Alright," A stance was easy enough right? Looking at Shun's feet carefully as he instructed Mitsu tried to position her's in the same manner. No..no that wasn't quite right. Maybe if she moved her foot a little to the left...no definitely more to the right. Okay, that seemed good, one foot down.
After a bit of adjusting and looking between her stance and Shun's Mitsu finally seemed to have it exactly as he was standing. It did leave her with a more stable feeling like her center of gravity wasn't all over the place. "How about this?" She asked looking up toward Shun for approval. "What next?"

Watching carefully as she got into position, Shun examined her stance and nodded. Then, quietly, he reached up for her shoulders to get her upper body into place.
"Good. Next is getting your hands in place. Keep your arms up to help guard your body. If someone were to strike, you could have an easier time defending than if your arms were at your sides," he explained before again demonstrating how it should look.
"From here, we'll go over some basic striking and blocking techniques."

Mitsu eyes shifted watching Shun approached to place his hands on her shoulders. She relaxed as he positioned her torso where it needed to be trying to memorize how her body was being placed. It would be important to remember, she was certain she would need to repeat this often.
"Guard with my hands?" Mitsu asked tilting her head slightly as she watched Shun bring his arms up in a position that would easily be able to strike or block from. Trying to mimic the move Mitsu seemed to have....the general idea though not quite. Her arms were held rather loosely with her hands closer to her face. It looked more like she was prepared to cry than fight.

"Yes. If someone were to strike," he said while moving his hand towards her in a sort of mock-punch, "You'd deflect the blow if you can't dodge it."
With his free hand, he grabbed her wrist to make her block his strike.
"Something like that," Shun said while thinking," There's a few basic blocks. Like this..."
He went on to slowly demonstrate a few various blocks which basically involved him moving his arms in various directions.
"You'll also need to keep your fists closed. Don't want to let your fingers get caught in anything."

Mitsu stiffened a little seeing Shun's hand moving toward her in a mock punch. True it wasn't fast but she felt like she needed to be ready even though he was only demonstrating the moves at the moment. It didn't seem she had to be though as he took hold of her wrist to show her what to do. The sudden contact had her feeling nervous, why was she getting nervous?
"O..okay." Mitsu nodded that she understood. She got it, just doing it would be the problem. Trying to ignore her sudden random thoughts Mitsu focused in on the moves Shun was showing her knowing that at some point she was going to have to mimic them.
"Fists closed." Immediately Mitsu curled her fingers into a fist. It felt awkward, it wasn't a move she was used to doing though it made sense. Mitsu was certain breaking a finger during the process would put a damper on the situation quite a bit if knowing you were being attacked hadn't already. After she had completed her last task the werewolf turned to Shun expectantly to see what would be required of her next.

Pausing for a moment, Shun looked a little uncertain of how to proceed here. He supposed he should go over the blocks a little more and have her do the movements. After all, a good chunk of self defense was within muscle memory.
"Alright. I want you to do ten of each of these blocks. Go ahead and go slow so you can get the motions down. Then.. we'll practice actually blocking," he said before demonstrating the first block. The Reaper waited for her attempt before making whatever adjustments needed in her posture and movement and having her repeat.
It... was a little awkward doing this for certain, but he was trying to not think about it too hard. He was standing in close proximity to Mitsu.. and he had to hold onto her here and there to move her into position and all. But.. he was doing what he could to keep focused on the task and not.. get distracted with anything else.

"Okay, I think I can do that." Mitsu nodded. The lycan watched Shun carefully before she tried to mimic the move. It didn't seem like she was far off but Shun still moved closer adjusting her stance here and there. She didn't put a whole lot of thought into the close contact, he was there to help her after all, but something about him being so close had her feeling suddenly awkward and shy despite how comfortable she usually was with the reaper.
It didn't seem like she was the only one feeling off though. Shun seemed distracted somehow. "Is there something wrong?" Mitsu asked after completing her first round of blocks. Maybe he wasn't feeling well.
