She had been watching him for awhile... that black maned male. Yejide wasn't actively trying to hide her presence either. Figuring there was no harm in merely WATCHING.
Sure, it could have come off creepy, and maybe it was. But the female didn't have any devious intentions for the male... she was just checking off points from her mental check list. 'He isn't too flamboyantly colored...' The fem thought slightly to herself, 'He is the prefect shade of chocolate brown...' the thoughts continued.
Eyes kept panning over the male's figure as she remained perched on a boulder within a rocky outcropping. Laying against the rock top, her head resting atop her neatly folded paws, the female grinned to herself as she inspected the would-be suitor. "And he's handsome~." She remarked quietly to herself. Thinking of this stranger as little more than an object at this point. Yejide didn't seem too bothered by the idea. She just needed him for one thing, after all.

Haraka wasn't entirely sure..but he was pretty sure that someone was out there watching him. He'd had that prickling feeling on the back of his neck for a while now. At first he had chalked it up to simple paranoia, he was in a new area after all and new areas were always just a little bit unsettling when you first wandered through them - but the feeling had persisted no matter how much he attempted to ignore it and so he had become more and more convinced that he was in fact being watched by someone.
On the plus side since they hadn't attacked him yet it was unlikely that whomever was watching him was hostiles - perhaps they were just curious, or they wanted to make sure he didn't perform so social blunder on their lands. Haraka had learned that many Prides had some odd traditions - some of those traditions had brought about the 'new area paranoia' that was currently plaguing him.
Growing fairly tired of merely sitting here and being stared at by an unknown entity Haraka finally picked himself up from where he had been resting in the shade and turned about in a slow circle, letting his gaze sweep over the area "I know your out there" He called out "You might as well come out"...man he was going to feel really stupid if no one appeared.

It was true, Haraka was quite close to the boarder lands of her pride. But he wasn't trespassing, lucky for him. Males were almost always driven off, and for good reason. The males had a number of females to reap as 'rewards'. For now, there was a new decree which allowed females to find partners outside of the pride. Which lead Yejide here.
For the past couple of weeks the female stalked around the rouge lands, keeping close to the familiar terrain near her land. Coming across a number of males do didn't fit the 'requirements'. With this new found freedom, Yejide enjoyed the taste of having a choice. The lioness didn't enjoy having all of the pressure set on her shoulder's, however, so she followed the rules of the 'rogue swap' to a tee.
Her silent musings ceased when she noticed the object of her affection stand up and speak out to nothing. Ducking away behind the rock she was stationed on, the lioness hoped he hadn't seen her. Or wouldn't chase her if he did.
After some silence, Yejide carefully peeked out from behind the rock she was hidden and checked on the chocolate male. Had he been bluffing? She chuckled to herself.

Haraka waited for what seemed like quite a long time to him, but which was likely only a few minutes in reality, ears twitching back and forth a bit as he tried to discern if he was imagining things or if if there really was someone out there...had those leaves rustled a bit to his left? Was the the scrape of a claw on those rocks over there? See now he thought maybe he was being paranoid and huffed slightly. This is what happened when you spent to much time wandering about by yourself..you started hearing things. Next he'd likely start talking to himself.
Determined not to fall into that sort of insanity the chocolate lion told himself thath e was imagining things and really he ought to just go back to his rest. Maybe take a nap. A nap sounded nice in the heat of this afternoon and turning about a few more times the lion settle back down in the shade and closed his eyes..though his flicking tail and twitching ears gave away the fact that sleep seemed to be eluding him at the moment. Blast his imagination now that he had his eyes closed he was absolutely positive that someone was stalking up on him.

Holding her breath, the lioness felt that those fleeting few minutes felt like an eternity as well. Wondering if he HAD seen her. It would have been quite a feat, because her patchy coloration still provided great camouflage. But eventually the alert male visibly relaxed. It was actually pretty humorous playing with him like this... Yejide didn't realize males could offer her more than protection and cubs.
The two genders remained separated in the pride, of the most part. She was so used to the love and affection of her 'sisters' that males were only a passing fancy.
Once Haraka settled down for a nap, Yejide couldn't help herself. She wanted to sneak up on the slumbering male. Maybe inspect him in close proximity while he was in dream land. In fact, the lioness was so over eager that she didn't bother to pay attention to the signs of his wakefulness. Besides, who falls asleep two seconds after laying down? Sweeping past the rocks to close in on her slumbering 'quarry', Yejide tried her hardest not to make a sound. But she is merely mortal, she can not float. The soft tapping of her on coming paws will eventually be made apparent and she aimed to loom in on her 'sleeping beauty'.

No he was positive now..absolutely positive that something was coming up on him, sneaking up on him to be truthful, or at least trying to. Haraka was torn should he leap up and run off in case said sneaking party was dangerous? Or should he stick around to find out who was stalking him and why exactly they were doing so? Running off was likely the smarter option given the newness of the lands and his lack of knowledge about those who lived here - buuut...he was a large lion now wasn't he? Surely he could handle whatever was coming up on him and he was more then a little bit curious to boot.
Very well then decision made Haraka made every effort to be still, striving to breath deeply and evenly as though he was indeed sleeping while his strained for the tell tale sounds of paw steps coming towards him. Whomever it was was doing a pretty good job of staying quiet but now and again Haraka caught what he thought was another clue to the strangers position and when at last he heard a sound he was absolutely positive was close - far to close for the stranger to merely rush off an disappear into the swaying grass without him seeing them first the chocolate lion leapt to his feet and spun around to see who was behind him "Ha! I knew someone was there!" He crowed as he spun around to face the stalker.

Yejide had no reason to suspect the male was forming a trap. She didn't know males to be that crafty. Taking them all at face value.
Every so often her clawed toes scraped against the ground or knocked against a stray pebble. And you know what? If Haraka was asleep she might have been able to sneak up on him. But with him awake and hyper aware due to his paranoia, it was out of the question. She drew ever closer, to the point of no return. No more than a few feet separated the pair. And right as she stepped into the intimate shade of the tree, the chocolate lion sprang into action, literally. Yejide did the same. Jumping up like a frightened cat as her fur lifted from her shock. She hadn't expected that! green eyes widened and the female bared her teeth. Maybe not the best first impression... but she was taken off guard!
She could have very well looked rather intimidating with her snapping jaws and wide open eyes! "Gah!" Her mind didn't yet process that he didn't mean her any harm. Adrenaline rocketed through the lioness' veins, as her brain ceased up. Was this a fight or flight instance?

Despite the fact that haraka had been absolutely sure someone had been watching him and then had decided to sneak up on him - a small part of his brain was still determined to tell him he was just being paranoid and silly and so while he half expected to find someone behind him...actually finding someone - despite his words - was a bit of a shock.
Not nearly as big of a shock as the poor lioness he'd startled seemed to be in though and Haraka wasn't entirely sure if she was going to run away or swipe him across the nose for scaring her..by the look in her eyes and the startled sound she made odds were the lioness herself didn't even know exactly what she was going to do yet. Since Haraka was still fairly sure that he could - if he had to - take on this spotted girly and feelng a bit justified in his position since she had been the one trying to sneak up on him he decided to stand his ground and demand some answers "Why were you watching me?" He asked in a haughty tone, although it quickly softened - perhaps she needed help of some sort. "Do you need something? Help? Are you lost?" He continued on after a few moments voice a touch gentler this time around.

It took only a few seconds, but Yejide did finally gather her wits enough to realize... the jig was up. Her bewildered expression softened and instead the female pondered just what she ought to say by this point. What was there to say? Admit to stalking him? She couldn't fib...
The lioness remained silent as Haraka asked his questions. Even now, while she was getting an interrogation, the female continued to study him. Listening to his voice and watching his mannerisms as he spoke. Thus far he showed no signs of being an unworthy suitor. He speaks well enough and he is stable minded...
A smirk formed on her lips despite all of this, grinning up at the male due to their height differences. "I'm just observing you." The female admitted, "No need to worry, I mean you no harm." Fanning her eyes slowly, the lioness' smile only grew. Was there really any need to be coy? "I've been searching for a proper male." Was her blunt response, "I think you are what I'm looking for." She didn't think it queer to be so honest with this stranger... males enjoy siring cubs don't they? Why else would they fight over it?

He wasn't entirely sure she was paying attention to him - now that she'd settled she seemed to be watching him again, or perhaps judging would be a more appropriate word, he was at a bit of a loss really and he wasn't entirely sure what to make of the situation..until she proved that she had in fact been both watching him and studying him by giving him an answer.
"Yes well..I wasn't worried bout that" He hurried to speak up not wanting her to think he was some sort of sissy who couldn't look after himself but any further comments he might have made to that effect were brought up short as she continued on and now it was his turn to fall into silence and gape at her just a touch. Had she just..propositioned him? Haraka was shocked - he was still young enough that such a prospect hadn't ever occurred to him and yet now that he had he found it a bit flattering. Flattering and odd...but surely enough to give him a good bit of an ego boost none the less. Realizing that he was standing there staring at her he cleared his throat. "I think perhaps we ought to talk a bit then" He finally answered leading the way back towards the deeper shade where it would be far more comfortable to have a conversation.
