So as you know Iv been working on my blood angles founded chapter. I got a pacl of sanguineary guards and it came with a banner. But for some resion it says the banner can only be used as a Chapter banner and i want to use it more of a unit standard.
Im wondering what to do and i want theis to a tournament legal army too boot.

In my experience, you can use it as whatever you want. It's just a part. No one is going to call it an illegal unit because it's carrying a flag that adds to how the unit looks.

I could understand if some jerk complained about not having flag in the unit when it is on the list, but never other way around...

I doubt there be an issue about it,
I got my tacs and one dev squad with a squad banner and so far no one´s
complaining. <.<
Then again I played with a Deathwing army on my 1st and only tournament 2 years ago.... sweatdrop
It should be fine aslong you make it clear to your oppoment that it´s just a
decoration of a squad banner, nothing more. 3nodding
