Draconis alighted upon the mountain top and began pacing. As he waited, the gently falling snow began to melt in his fur. Snowing again. She wouldn't be too happy about that. Not that he really cared about what she wanted. Did he? ... Nope. Besides, the gosh darn vixen was making him wait in the snow. She was probably dragging her feet [metaphorically, for she was obviously going to be flying here] on purpose. Probably wants him to wind up all wet from the snow. And after all that he had done for her the last time they were up on this mountain. Ungrateful 'Daeva.
Despite his thoughts, Draconis was actually slightly, very slightly, and quite secretly fond of this 'Daeva he waited for on the cold mountain top. Being best friends with a 'Daeva can do that to a 'Phim. Plus, this particular 'Phim was just naturally cold-hearted, and it wasn't as if Ginevra thought any better [outwardly] of him.

Ginevra landed at the bottom of the mountain and turned her eyes toward the summit. She knew instinctively that Draconis was already up there. He was probably pacing, or something, she thought, and cursing her mentally. That boy had no passions, except his own well-being. And even then, he had climbed this mountain as a kit, with limited use of his wings and absolutely no parental supervision. Where was his well-being then? She sighed; just thinking about his recklessness that day bothered her. But then, they never would have met.
Ginevra shook herself free of her thoughts, and looked back up the mountain. Spreading her wings again, one great push off the ground with her paws and a flap of her wings brought her soaring upwards to the mountain top. It took perhaps less than a minute of flying to see, and then land on, the snow-covered summit of the mountain, and sure enough Draconis was there, pacing. He had felt her approach, obviously, but didn't seem to show it. Ginevra pretended to clear her throat in order to get his attention. "Wait for me long?" She asked when he finally looked up at her.[Yes, this is just a PRP between myself and myself. I need lifemates~]

Draconis had seen her, as well as feeling the warmth that always followed her presence, He quickly turned to pace in the other direction, and refused to look at her until she decided to speak. "Yes, actually." His response was cold, but it didn't faze Ginevra. "I've been up here for about an hour already. And it's freezing." Both were exaggerations, he'd only been pacing for about five minutes and his fur protected him well enough, but she didn't know that. "You recall, I hope, that it was your idea to meet here?" Draconis gave a sigh of frustration. "Vixens and their random whims to visit parts unknown to most of the world. And for what? A trip down memory lane? I don't even need to be here in order for you to reminisce. And if you had wanted to really reenact history, you would have gotten here before me."

Ginevra remained silent, allowing him to rant all he wanted. There was just no stopping him when he got like this; she had learned this fact the hard way. The 'Daeva resigned herself to simply mentally rolling her eyes at each sentence. Yup, they had quite the loving relationship, best friends as they were. Realistically, they knew that no one else would want to put up with their problems. Besides, Draconis and Ginevra had been together for so long, since she hatched from her BCR on this very mountain top, alone and half-frozen.
Ginevra finally tuned back in to what he was saying near the end, just in time to give a response. "You really don't care about anything, do you?' She asked. "Yes, this place is important to me. It's important to you, too. You met me here! And you realize that it was your 'random whim to visit parts unknown' that led to our meeting in the first place. You climbed this entire mountain as a kit out of boredom. My reason for coming back up here today is much more substantial than yours back then."

Draconis rolled his eyes. "And you are all the more better off because of it. Little to no good could possibly come of our meeting here today, but back then it mattered. Yeah, I didn't just meet you. I saved your life."
Draconis paused before, thinking about it, adding, "Also, don't act as if your some gift of the 'Deities upon my life. I have faith that they're a little more merciful than that. If anything, you're a curse that just keeps coming back."

They'd argued before - it was practically their favorite pastime - but Ginevra could see that this one was quickly taking a turn for the worse. She didn't want to lose Draconis [as a friend] over something so stupid. Pity that instinct and pride took over, and who was Ginevra if not a very instinctual and proud 'Daeva?
"First of all, I don't act like that," was her first response. It was weak, but she continued. "You've done nothing, I'm sure, to warrant a gift from the 'Deities. And if I must be your curse, then so be it. Curses are supposed to teach selfish foxes some lessons about their character, and I will gladly accept that challenge!"

Draconis scowled. "Oh, I've done absolutely nothing to deserve some sort of divine reward?" He questioned, growing more annoyed by the minute. "What about saving your life up here? Finding you? Helping you down the mountain, and feeding you, and nursing you back to health? I was a kit, and you were a newly-hatched 'Daeva. I performed every daunting task necessary to ensure that you are still here today. I could have just left you up here to freeze to death, a 'Daeva kit who's flame wasn't strong enough to warm herself. In fact, I probably should have just left you, if I knew you'd be so ungrateful."
He knew he probably shouldn't have said it, as he watched her reaction closely. What could he do, though? It was way too late to take anything back, and besides, he was still angry. He wasn't exactly sure why, but he was. She was right; she was his curse. But Draconis doubted she could teach him anything, or change his ways.

Ginevra grew silent, but it was clear what she was thinking. The anger that grew inside her now was evident as the flames around her paws grew brighter and stronger. "Fine then," she said. "Just leave me here now. I'll never bother you again, now that I know your true feelings. Sorry I ever burden you with my presence, and my troubles, and my life." Ginevra's icy tone could rival his on his worst days, a fact the 'Daeva could attest to well enough.
Without another word, and not caring for a response, Ginevra turned her back to the 'Phim and just sat on the mountain top. The ground immediately around her had almost completely melted away.

"Fine," was all Draconis said, still watching her closely. She didn't seem to react, so he just turned around and took off in the other direction. Draconis flew higher and higher, but besides that he didn't pay close attention to where he was going. He just had to get away; that's what she wanted, after all.
He wasn't exactly mad anymore, having royally angered her. And Draconis knew when it was his fault, he could admit that much well enough. Still, he wouldn't go so far as to feel bad. Did he? Nope. But they'd been through so much together. He didn't know any other fox as well as he knew Ginevra; he barely knew any foxes at all. It was just in his nature to be solitary, though. And that didn't mean that he was friends with this 'Daeva or anything. It didn't mean that he had to like her, or care about her feelings or anything.
Once deciding he was far enough away from the mountain - he could no longer clearly see the darned thing off in the distance - Draconis slowly began to descend. He aimed to land beside a small, clear lake nearby. Shaking himself dry, Draconis settled himself beside the lake. He was thinking about it all again, now, as he stared at his own reflection in the water. How they'd met, and suddenly everything since then, as well...

Once she had sat there brooding for a long enough, Ginevra turned to glance behind her; sure enough, Draconis was no where in sight. Heaving a sigh, she decided to lie down in the patch of rock that was fairly dry, thanks to her own flames. She wasn't too angry anymore, now that he was gone, but if he returned...
'Hm, empty threats to no one,' she thought sullenly. She officially hated the 'Phim, not that he would care. That was probably the most infuriating thing about him. Selfish little pigeon that he always has been. Well, to be fair, he hadn't always been like that...

[Flashback time] Halfway up the mountain, and Draconis was half prepared to give up and turn back around. But would he? Nope. Never. For he was a tough kit. A tough, modiphim kit. But he didn't need his wings for this journey. Draconis was determined to make it up this mountain on his own four bare paws, and he didn't need any help from any foxes, or any wings. He was tough!
Just as he thought that, the wind blew harder and colder than ever before. He huddled closer to the rock and continued to climb, using his small wings to shield himself a little from the weather. He was almost there...
It took a while, but he made it. He was at the summit of the mountain, finally. It was large, flat and completely covered in snow. Draconis ran around in his elation at finally reaching the top, that is until he tripped over something. Getting slowly back up to his feet, Draconis cursed whatever rock it was that must have tripped him, but as he turned to discover exactly which rock, he saw something else entirely.
It was another kit, female, with bat-like wings. She was black, with a few gold and red designs. Upon much closer inspection, little flames could be seen dancing around her paws. She was curled up in a tight ball on the ground, clearly freezing, and looking up at him with scared eyes.

She listened to the snow lightly crunch under his paws long before she actually knew what she was hearing. Mere minutes before, Ginevra had hatched from her abandoned BCR to find herself on this frozen mountain top. Confused, weak and alone, it only took these few minutes before the little 'Daeva began to freeze. Curled up into her tight ball in a failing attempt to warm herself, Ginevra waited in silence and instinctive fear as the approaching figure seemed to draw nearer.
She could see it now, out of the very corner of one eye. Wasn't so large, she could see that even from where she was lying on the ground. The figured hadn't seemed to notice her yet, though. It was moving quickly towards her, and Ginevra quickly braced herself for an impact. The other creature tripped over her and fell ungracefully into the snow on her other side. Still looking at it, this time from the corner of her other side, Ginevra wasn't sure exactly what she was seeing. He looked a little like her, roughly the same size, and even had wings. Yet, those were completely different - more feathery.
Now he saw her. He was, in fact, staring at her quite intently, and with a mixture of confusion and shock in his eyes. For a long time, the kits could do nothing but stare. Finally, Ginevra gathered the courage and strength to speak. "Help?" She croaked. It was all she was really able to muster.

Inwardly, Draconis was at a complete loss as to what to do. He was only a kit, couldn't even really fly yet. And here he was, faced with the problem of saving some other kit's life. Thankfully for Ginevra, while Draconis' mind was frozen, it seemed that his body knew exactly what to do. Adrenaline pumped through his veins as Draconis essentially lifted the 'Daeva kit on his back and ran back all the way down the mountain... Well, it didn't exactly happen like that, but thanks to the imagination of the kit, that's all Draconis seemed to remember of those hours that it took to help her down.
Finally at a place on the mountain where it was much warmer and the snow didn't reach, he lowered himself to the ground so she could slide off his back. "Are you okay yet?" He asked, glancing at her. She seemed a little... healthier. But then, what did Draconis know of health? At least she was no longer shivering.

Ginevra could only watch as the 'Phim shielded her from the snow with one wing. At the same time, he forced her up and leaned her against him. In this way, the slowly traveled down the mountain. The forced movement on her frozen limbs, sore limbs didn't feel good at all, but he forced her to keep moving.
In truth, they didn't make it anywhere near the bottom of the mountain before they stopped. Frankly, the 'Phim barely made it down to the part of the mountain where the snow finally couldn't reach. Still, he pulled through, and more importantly, helped her out the entire way.

Draconis was finally able to rest the 'Daeva on the dry, warm rock under the sun and he breathed a sigh of relief. The adrenaline was gone, and in it's place was absolute exhaustion. He recalled looking down at the other kit, who was lying on the ground, stretched out as far as she could go in an attempt to relieve the soreness in her limbs, he supposed. Jealous of how comfortable he decided she looked, Draconis decided to join her stretched out on the warm rock. He idly noticed that the flames around her paws had grown stronger since being down here as the 'Phim drifted off to sleep...
... He dreamed he was older, and finally able to soar through the skies. It was a beautiful, cloudless day and Draconis was the only one in the sky. Then, it took a turn for the worst as a sudden weight bore down upon his shoulders. Trying to turn his head, he noticed familiar paws surrounded by familiar flames hanging down near his wings. An older version of the 'Daeva kit had suddenly appeared, sleeping heavily, on his back. Sudden shock at the existence of her sudden weight, as well of the fires that should theoretically burn him, sent older, dream Draconis tumbling from the sky...
... The kit was startled into consciousness by the nightmare. Draconis jumped up reflexively from where he was laying, and saw, staring right at him, the golden eyes of the 'Daeve, still in kit form, that he had saved. "Can... can I help you with something?" He snapped. Draconis really hadn't meant to, but she had startled him, and he didn't know it would come out so rudely. Still, he shrugged it off and continued to stare back at her as he waited for a response.
