Hobbies: Horses: — Ever since she was a little girl, Rhiannon has been fascinated by animals, but especially horses. When she turned sixteen she got a job working as a stablehand just outside the city. Although she doesn't have a horse of her own, the owners of the stable have let her work closely with a few of theirs, and even allowed her to enter into competitions. Before working there, she took lessons off and on, whenever she could use her allowance to be able to afford it. Anything dealing with horses catches her attention. Artwork, books, movies, clothing... if it's horse related, she either covets or critiques it. Right now she drives an old truck, but if it were up to her, she'd ride a horse everywhere.
Shoes/Accessories: — Aside from her passion for horses, Rhiannon can't help but collect and wear as many cute shoes and accessories as possible. Her wardrobe consists of essencial tops and bottoms, but she prides herself on her shoe collection. Yes, she realizes that she should be saving her money for her own horse one day, but since she should also focus on school, a few more pairs of heels or earrings wouldn't hurt, right?
Reading: — For whatever reason, Rhiannon has never been able to get that into works of fiction. Sure, she'll read them for school, or even pick up a popular series from time to time, but her fascination lies in non-fiction. Biographies, autobiographies, news articles, journalist columns, memoirs... Yes, she realizes that history may not be everyone's cup of tea, but she isn't so interested in getting wrapped up in made-up worlds when there's still so much to learn about the world, and the people and everything, around her.
Amateur Photography/Scrapbooking: — Rhiannon isn't a talented photographer and she wouldn't dream of claiming to be, but she does like going out and taking pictures from time to time. Whether it be nature or her friends, Rhi points, shoots, and prints a picture to stick into another page of her collection of scrapbooks. Sometimes she doesn't even use her own photography, but takes cutouts from magazines and prints images from the web. If anything, her scrapbooks are more of a visual diary than trying to let others understand her thoughts.
Virtues: Actions speak louder: — If everyone is talking, who is going to listen? Rhiannon, while she isn't shy, doesn't force her way through a conversation in order to be heard. She stands back, observes the situation around her, takes in various facts and opinions voiced by others, and reacts in a way she hopes would get her feelings across. It may be something as simple as
not responding, or she may offer a hug in sympathy, or storm off in rage. However, she is an exceptional listener first and foremost. She will place her own opinions aside to allow others to express theirs. If anyone needed someone to rant to, she would be a good candidate.
Observant: — Due in part to her relatively quiet nature, Rhiannon had grown to pay close attention to the world around her. She’s much more comfortable in the role of the silent observer, monitoring her surroundings and regarding the people around her with a scrutinizing eye. She’s able to catch the little details—tone of voice, body language—and uses these in her interactions with people, be they friend or foe.
Resolute: — Rhiannon is a stubborn, determined individual. While this may often cause problems in her day-to-day interactions, it also offers many benefits. She makes decisions easily. She doesn’t sit around agonizing over her choices but tends to go with her gut and see it through until the end. If consequences arise due to her actions, she’ll face them with persistence and maturity. Rhiannon sails through her problems, not because she isn’t bothered by them, but because she has the determination and the resolve to wade through them and come out better for it on the other side.
Practical: — Life is no fairytale. Rhiannon knows this very well. s**t happens, people die, and nothing is ever perfect. She doesn’t go through life with her head in the clouds, but has her feet planted firmly on the ground. She takes the realistic approach, relying on reason and fact more than emotion. Sometimes it might make her seem a little cold, but she isn’t the type of person to sugar coat things. Rhiannon isn’t going to pretend. She’s going to be honest and real and grounded. It’s much better than way, she thinks. Much safer than playing pretend.
Flaws: Over analyzing: — Sometimes she reads into things more than she should, which could cause her to overreact or to assume things that end up being false. She may read into comments too deeply, or focus on something else done and completely miss the point. Yes, she's an exceptional listener and can parrot back things she'd been told months before, but there are times that the meaning is lost in translation. If she trusts someone, they can easily explain what they meant and she would believe them, but for anyone else, it may take a while to convince her that saying one thing really meant something else.
Difficult to please: — Being observant has its draw backs. Rhiannon sees things, and in people sometimes these things turn her off. She isn’t the sort to immediately place her trust in someone, but holds out until they’ve given her a reason to place her trust in them or proof that they’ve earned it. Often she seems distant and jaded and doesn’t expect much from people. Just as she is determined to follow through on her own decisions, she is just as determined to hold others to the same standards she holds for herself. No, that doesn't mean someone has to be exactly like her for her to try and befriend them, but if they don't show the effort in their life that she decides they should, she may not think of them as highly. Just as perfection is sought for in her riding techniques, Rhiannon expects the same in all aspects of her life, even if it's someone else's life.
Familiarity breeds contempt: — Rhiannon is a loner and rather pessimistic by nature. She's a human, she knows how humans react to things, she knows they can be horrible to each other. Because of that, she is oft to judge before getting to know someone. She'll listen to them, scrutinize their choice in words, overanalyse the way they care too much about their appearance rather than showing consideration for others... and she'll just as quickly be passed by when it comes to building new relationships because of it. She has also been known to hold grudges, too focused on those who have wronged her in the past to move on. In reality, she just knows that humans are most likely to repeat their mistakes, so she is always ready and waiting to be hurt again.
Aloof: — She knows she's a difficult person to get to know, seeing as she doesn't spill her guts everywhere to just anyone who happens to walk by, so she doesn't go out of her way to try and meet new people and befriend them. Rhiannon isn't outwardly mean, but she doesn't try to draw others close to her, either. As long as she has her studies and a horse to ride, she is content. It does get lonely, though... and sometimes she wonders what else there is in life... or if there's even a point to all the struggling and fighting when so few seem to care.
