It had been awhile since her attempt at making the treehouse blueprint. Sitting idly in a seat within an empty classroom, There was a stack of papers and a few brushes with a bowl of water sitting on her desk. She wasn't too familiar with painting, but she'd seen it done by critters back home. Candy corn wasn't the best for making any sort of pigment, but there was some ink as pitch as tar made in her town from some unknown substances... she happened to have a jar of that open. Dipping her brush into the ink, she peered over at the mini on the desk in front of her. The Octopussy was posing in a simple sit position, keeping quite still. Really, it had turned out to be a pretty obedient mini. When the tattles brush came back up, something inky and deformed was left on the single sheet of paper before her.

Lattice was just roaming the halls in an endeavor to better get to know her surroundings and also become more comfortable with them as long as she didn't wander into restricted areas she didn't see a problem with this at all. She was mostly in her own little world until something caught her attention she paused as she peeked through the doorway of the classroom and she saw Levi doing something with ink. She hovered in the doorway before she finally wandered further in and just paused nearby.
Staring.
For a moment it seemed as if she wasn't going to announce her presence before she finally spoke to Levi, "Hello, what are you doing?" Well she could obviously see what she was doing but still she asked just the same.

Try tltin' ta tha left? The Octopussy didn't understand a word Levi said, but licked at an outstretched tentacle after she spoke. Shrugging, the tatzel just went with it and tried again at capturing what the mini was doing. Hmm... The ink wasn't co-operating with her. Every time she went to paint a line, it webbed out in a wet mess and she felt out of control with it. Could the form even be recognizable?
Like a wind passing by, a whispered voice caught Levi's attention. Her ears twitched before turning to see the petite ghostly ghoul. Oh-aye, screecheart. She demeanor was calming with the ghoul as she knew this one wasn't one to jump around with; easily startled (and apparently has a habit of startling). Guess I'm... practicing' ma drawn' hand some.
She picked at a corner of the wet page she'd drawn both inkblots on.

Lattice tilted her head a bit as she wandered closer and stared down at the picture that Levi had been working on. The ghoul was on good terms with the other for the most part since she was one of the few that had been rather kind to her upon first meeting. She tilted her head at the picture and then looked up at the 'model' that Levi had been using and then back down at the inked up picture.
"Is that a cat with tentacles?" She asked after a moment hoping she wasn't being terribly rude, "it is very cute."
She seemed thoughtful for a moment, "I think you have a bit too much water in your ink, though."

Don't find maself drawin' often. But kinda figured I'd give 'er a go. Yeah, it's ma Critter thar.
Levi kept an eye on Critter who was now licking away at a tentacle end before glancing up to the engraver. Thanks. Good ta know it ain't all that bad. If ya'll can tell what it is, gotta count fer somethin' eh? She chuckled, acknowledging the compliment.
Too much water? Looking at the wet page, she watched the lines continue to vein out in ink. Eh... ya might have somethin' thar. Maybe Lattice knew something she didn't? If she could tell the ink was an issue, perhaps she knew a little something about drawing?
Ya draw much, Lattice?

"Sometimes drawing is very relaxing. You do not always need a reason to be doing it," she said quietly as she observed the picture and then the creature's shape again she could definitely see some similarities between them.
The Engraver nodded a bit, "Makes it hard for you to get a good shape going if you put too much water in," she explained, "plus the ink goes everywhere you don't need it to be and bleeds," she indicated this by pointing at the fuzzy outer edges of the figure in the picture.
Lattice smiled a little, "I do draw a lot. I come from a clan that does tattoos...So art needs to be practiced."

Relaxin'... hmm~ yea'. She supposed that was the purpose of today's drawing exercise. Coming from the slow and steady country life, all the hustle and bustle around the school with so many classes and full hallways to pull through, she'd wanted to do something simple. Something where she could experiment with something new, but without the time constraints like homework.
Levi tried to swirl the ink around in the jar, attempting to thicken it up somehow, listening to the engraver's critique. Nodding in awe, the tatzel acknowledged the tiny hair-like lines Lattice spoke of that developed without her intending to do so.
Her eyes widened and her head tilted upon hearing about Lattice's background and abilities. Smiling, Levi wanted to learn more about this sort of trade. The white-haired ghoul continued to swirl as she spoke. So- yer whole family draws? Sounds nifty! Do yer folks teach ya 'er 'is there'a teacher fer it that' teaches all'ya?

Lattice smiled a little and nodded as the Tatzel seemed to agree with her. She settled for watching the other ghoul for a time as she thought how to phrase the answer to her question before she answered, "All of the Elder Engravers are responsible for making sure the young ones learn their trade, yes," Lattice seemed pleased with her own answer. She wasn't sure if she could explain that she didn't recall her specific ... lineage other than everyone she had lived with was like her in some way.
The Engraver stared at the ink within it's little jar before she quietly tore off a piece of her sash and folded it up into a nice square, "Here, try dabbing your brush on this after you get your ink out of the well, it'll dry the brush some and make for cleaner lines." She set the folded square on the desk for Levi.

Blinking, Levi watched Lattice rip a piece of her very own frock to fold in such a way that made her think that is a perfect square. It it hadn't been made clear already that this was something Lattice and her kin knew a lot about, this one square showed how precise her work but be. Looking up into the blackened gaps where Lattice's eyes would be, the tatzel reached to accept the offered square. That's mighty kind'a ya. Sure it's alright? Clothes; they could be costly. Sure the sash was torn, but... Taking the cloth to the end of the damp brush, Levi once more looking to Lattice for approval before doing so, she applied the tip to paper. Analyzing critter again, she began to make her lines outlining the features of the tentacat. Well I'll be gosh darned in'a ditch. Tilting her head and chuckling, Levi began to nod her head, understanding a bit more what Lattice had helped with. Tha'ink ain't bleeding' out all over tha'place! Of course, the ink still gathered in certain places where the strokes overlapped, but it was an improvement from her previous attempts. Was easier ta'make tha lines this time.

"I am very certain," she said softly with a quiet smile upon her lips as she watched Levi with a curious gaze just sitting nearby giving a small nod of approval when she was looked toward. The ghoul watched curiously as the images took shape on the paper that was being worked on. "That is very fine work, Levi," she said softly in approval.
The phrase Levi uttered made her stop for only a second or two before she uttered a quiet giggle of amusement. This ghoul seemed very fun to talk to. All sorts of interesting phrases were uttered by her. Lattice had a helpful suggestion for the parts of the art that overlapped she pointed down toward the piece of the art that seemed particularly muddled, "I have learned in my works with ink that it is best to try and think ahead. Plan what strokes you wish to do with your brush before you put your brush to the paper. That way you get all the parts of your art in that you desire to capture."
"You have a good amount of talent for this," she said in a fresh dose of praise.
