HOLIDAYS IN MISTWICK ❧ A CELEBRATION FOR EVERY SEASON
This topic deals mostly with holidays in Mistwick. Originally there was meant to be a standard as far as time goes, but due to the strange length of year and the fact that someone taking a hiatus due to RL reasons may literally miss an entire year of IC time before they return from school/work/etc. Please keep in mind though that even really active players should keep in mind it's very rare for a guardian to simply grown in a month, so feel free to stretch your own time for a bit, even organizing your own threads in a personal timeline. Just don't get too ahead of yourself so you don't have to retcon yourself after a Meta-event.
Mistwick has 13 months, all having 30-32 days. The four summer months are longer and generally when speaking of time a person would refer to it the seasons instead of month names.
"When did you arrive here?" "The eighth day of the third of summer."

YULEo1 & o2 of THE FIRST OF WINTER XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ A CELEBRATION OF WINTERXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYule is the equivalent of Christmas, New Year's, and Carnival all thrown together and packedXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXinto a two day long (sometimes more depending on the group you're with) celebration thatXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXinvolved the giving of gifts, drinking, eating small pastries filled with various types of fruits, andXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmore drinking.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXTraditionally, Yule was meant to celebrate the end of the fall harvests and the coming of winter.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXBut as the holiday spread it simply took up space on the calender. Mistwick's winter actuallyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbegins a couple weeks, almost a month, before Yule itself. The first snowfall usually falls on theXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfinal night of celebration, marking the kick off to the masquerade ball. Gifts are given throughoutXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe celebration, often resulting in two gift-giving events for families. The first night being smallXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthings, like our stockings, only they're usually kept in a wicker basket. Pastries baked the nightXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbefore are often eaten at this point. The second night of gift giving are the larger gifts. The onesXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyou run around with the next day excited about.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe Masquerade is signified by the white and black formal dresses and coats and the curiousXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmasks the hides all the faces. It makes the latter half of the celebration anonymous, more toXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXassist in covering up drunken celebrations, than any sort of tradition from the original holiday.

CORDISLATE SPRING XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ A DAY FOR LUCKY HEARTSXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXCordis is the equivalent of Valentines Day. Sort of. It celebrates the end of spring and all theXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnew lives that it brought with it. It also has become related to new love, and the starting ofXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXrelationships. It isn't a day just meant for couples, it isn't about giving people candy or cardsXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXor stuffed animals. It's about love, friendship, new life, and new beginnings.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe common way to celebrate Cordis involves fresh fruits given as gifts, getting together withXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfriends and family, and spending time in the gardens before the last of the spring flowers dieXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXoff, making way for the summer patch. Many new couples spend a day or two planning datesXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand pleasant outings. It's also common for new couples to be formed around this time. TheyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXaren't really kidding when they say "love is in the air." Perhaps there really is something, maybeXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXit's in the water, or the food, but it's everywhere. While some may say it's hard on singles, it isn'tXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXjust a holiday for lovers, it's meant for friends and families as well. The holiday isn't on a particularXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXday, it sort of spans anywhere from a few days, to a week or more. Depends on how long it takesXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfor the first heat of summer to roll in.

Late summer festival with carnivals and lots of dancing to ring in the first of the fall harvests.

Mid-fall holiday, much like our day of the dead. Marked by respecting fallen heroes and family, often includes sugar skulls (it's not as sickeningly sweet as our version) and children dressing up as their favorite old war hero and running around collecting the "skulls of their enemies."
(Basically like collecting candy only they collect little sugar skulls.)
