She was getting used to the patrolling aspect of being a senshi, and found she quite liked standing on rooftops, being the 'watchful eye' of the city.
The swan senshi stretched then leaped off of the rooftop, intending to head home for the night, call Merric, and just relax. Nothing big was going on, the city was safe, and it was partially due to her.
Awesome feeling, even though sometimes being a senshi was a pain in the neck.
She let out a little laugh, beginning to walk down the street, softly humming to herself, mind wandering to what was to come.

General Painite always had time for a good old fashioned hunt for energy. She loved traps and she loved plans, but no matter what other occupations pulled her attention at the time. There were Lieutenants to train and senshi to hunt. There were quotas, always, and there were knights to torment. But energy hunting would always be one of her favorite things to do.
There was just so much room for creativity, and with her confidence she was taking more and more risks.
Tonight, she had her eyes on a music store. There were some goons inside, looking at their records and making snobby faces as they tried to show off to one another with their impossibly useless knowledge about the out of date music recordings they pulled from the piles and piles of crap in the store.
She felt a senshi in the area, though, and her mind was drawn from the plan she had been formulating. It would be easy to get the attention of every loser boy in that shop, and drain them all together, but now she had something else to do.
She followed the feeling, knowing the senshi would sense her soon enough. This one felt weak, probably a newbie or one of their base levels. A piece of cake. Leisurely, she teleported into the senshi's path, grinning ear to ear.
"Evening."

Albireo stopped dead in her tracks, a frown crossing her face. Had she been that out of it that she didn't notice a person in front of--
Oh. That wasn't a person. Not with that type of an energy signature. Whatever...whoever it was in front of her was strong.
She swallowed, giving a small nod. "Yes, evening. It's lovely out tonight, isn't it?"
Maybe this Negaverse agent would be happy with idle conversation...and not hurt her. Or kick her.
She was still bruised from Jarosite's damn boots. Ah well..time to act friendly.
"Is there anything I can help you with?"

Oh yes, this had to be a newbie. Or someone working very hard not to pee themselves, with a Negaverse General as terrifying as Painite standing in front of them. That's what she felt, at least, and she summoned her weapon to her hand.
It was a long javelin, tipping on one end and the other ended in a large, intimidating spear. There were glowing runes on the metal of the spear head. She held on to it, watching the young senshi keenly.
Her expression, though, was still fairly innocent. Her bright eyes lent themselves easily to this idea of sweetness, though she was anything but. If she had her way, she'd have a senshi starseed in her possession tonight.
If she had known her Lieutenant had already run into this senshi, and left his mark, she would have felt very proud of him. As it stood, she simply imagined herself to be the first Nega this girl had ever seen, and she wanted to leave a good impression.
Like a hole in the senshi's chest.
"Well, I was wondering if I might be able to find someone to practice something on. I mean, it's so hard to find willing, live participants when training a weapon of this side. What do you think, do you think you'd be interested in being my guinea pig?"

Crap. Crap crap crap and a thousand times more crap. Mm..if only crap would fall from the sky and cover this...creepy, nega...creeper...
Why did this always happen to her? Why wasn't she smart enough to team up with another...stronger senshi? Wouldn't that help her to get out of these kinds of situations?
She took a step backwards. "No thanks. I really, should get going. I have a lot of other things to do tonight, in fact, I was just on my way home...so, if you'll excuse me..."
Sure...that would work, right? Right?
She was so screwed.

Painite laughed.
The poor little newbie senshi, all alone. Did she not have anyone training her, keeping an eye out on her? The senshi were pathetic, as far as their structure went. They had no idea how to do things. For her own part, the General would always be there to aid her Lieutenants and those that ranked to Captain under her watch. Hell, she would always be there for the other Generals, and for her leaders, as well.
Of course, it was easier to literally do that when there was teleporting involved. Just one more thing senshi couldn't do. She would pity them, but she was glad they couldn't: it made fighting them easier. She didn't want them to be organized, didn't want them to be evenly matched with the Negaverse. Pity wasn't an option, not from Painite.
She was the villain, after all. They treated her as such, and she filled the role effortlessly. Let them suffer, then, in their quest to rid the world of chaos.
"I don't think you're going to be doing anything else tonight," she began evenly, but her voice dropped as her eyes lit up. "Or tomorrow. Or ever again." She charged then, but used the back of her javelin as the lead part of her attack. It was a sharp end, but not the metal spear head of the top half of the weapon.

The senshi swallowed, shivering at the woman's words, then leaping backwards as she began attacking.
Crap. Why did she always get mixed in with the violent, scary as hell people that wanted to kill her...
Why didn't she learn her lesson and try to call another senshi to help her out on patrol? Oh. Right. Because she didn't really know any other senshi.
When Albireo landed she swallowed, then clasped her hands.
"Albireo Honking Distraction!" The sound of trumpeter swans filled the battle field, circling around Painite, coming from all directions.

The poor little senshi was going to have to learn very quickly that the Negaverse was comprised almost entirely of violent, scary as hell people that wanted to kill her. However they went about it, the end goal was always the same. Well, not always, but Painite didn't deal in exceptions, not with matters like this.
Majority ruled.
Honking distraction?
"What the bloody hell?!" The General yelled, surprised. Why was senshi magic so random and weird? Why were there ducks yelling at her now? It was so loud she had to cover her ears, grimacing at the sound and trying to find a way to stop it. At least it had cut her attack short. She had even banished her weapon for the moment, to use both hands over her ears.
At least it gave Albireo a chance to run.

Albireo hesitated, thinking for a moment.
This scary lady was short…she could take her…now that her weapon was gone. Kick her and run. Kick her and run as fast as she could.
The senshi drew in a breath, jumping and kicking at the General’s head, trying to guarantee that she would be able to escape, and hopefully show the general that she wasn’t some weak little cygnet.
She was strong. No matter what everyone else seemed to think. She wouldn’t let the damn negaverse idiots scare her anymore.

Painite was not expecting the senshi to turn around and attack. She would have to give the little girl some credit, leaping at her like that and losing her chance to run away, free of pain.
By staying, she was going to get her a** handed to her.
Or personally introduced to her own starseed. For a second. Before she died.
Painite stumbled to the side, but she didn't go down. She was a General. She looked at the little senshi and a grin spread across her face, eyes blazing. She shook her head and laughed.
"That was a big mistake, little senshi. You should be running. Instead, you're going to be a kabob." She summoned her weapon to her hand and charged at the senshi, but she had no intention of killing her right off. She just wanted to fight her. Scare her. Play with her a little bit.
Fun.
She swung her spear at the senshi's midsection, wanting to see if she could dance away.

The spear made some contact, slicing into the senshi's bodice, and drawing a thin line of blood.
She jumped away before any more damage could be done, then just glared at the general.
"Why on earth would I want to run? I'd be missing all the fun. Besides, I'm not some weak little child!"
Ah, Albireo...always with such big words...she really needed to stop her boasting, and actually put something behind them.
"Besides, you really think a little pointy stick will scare me?"
She jumped, aiming another kick at the general, this time for the shoulder, hoping to knock the damn spear out of her hands.

Painite laughed heartily at that, shaking her head.
"You've got some guts, but that makes you stupid. And you're going to see what happens to stupid little senshi who take on a Negaverse General." She grinned broadly, clearing her head from the distraction and bringing her arm around to block the senshi's attack. They were severely out matched: Painite's rank and innate strength put her well above what the senshi was capable of.
And she knew it. The Negaverse were just naturally stronger. Add a high rank to that, and you had one deep hole to try and climb out of.
She lashed out and grabbed the senshi suddenly by the neck, teleporting with her just to discombobulate her senses. and because it was scary. Painite liked scary. She slammed her into a wall, not too far away, grinning at her without any ounce of gentleness or kindness in her eyes now.
Not that there had been much before.
"Say good bye, little senshi," she said lowly. She moved her other hand, the one not occupied by the senshi's small throat, and passed her fingers into the girl's chest. The pain would be unbelievable, and Painite prided herself in living up to her name during moments like this. "I can feel your starseed. All I have to do is give it a tug, and you're gone from this world. Just like that, your parents are without a child. Your friends will cry and then replace you. Your world will no longer matter. Or I could poison you against the other senshi, bring you to my side, or better yet, make you a monster. Which is worse, I wonder?" Her fingers curled around the jem she could visualize just inside the young girl's chest.

One moment she was kicking the general, the next....a hand was being shoved into her chest.
There was a hand inside of her chest.
It hurt like hell...
Albireo let out a scream of pain, tears leaking out of her eyes. She was going to die. She was going to die, and there was nothing she could do. She couldn't move, couldn't breathe, couldn't beg...She let out a whimper of pain.
She was going to die...Merric...What would happen to Merric if she couldn't protect him? A witch like this would kill him...drain his energy or something horrible...no...
Her scream faded and all the senshi could do was sob every few seconds.

Painite watched as the senshi crumpled into fear and began to cry. Who could blame her? Painite grinned as she watched, and only slowly released the starseed she had been caressing. She pulled her hand back, watching the young girl keenly, keeping their eyes locked. Save for when sobbing made the senshi look away from her.
"It would be so easy for me to kill you," she told Albireo, releasing her and letting her slump against the wall abruptly. "And I promise you that I will do it. But not right now. Don't cry, little senshi. Your life isn't over yet. You've got a lot more suffering to do first."
She laughed, her best evil laugh yet. It worked a lot better when she meant it, and she knew she was in that moment. Right now, she was on top of the world, feeling as charged and powerful as could be.
Maybe that made her a bully, but she didn't care.
"See you around, Duckie."
She teleported away then, leaving the girl to cry and try to piece herself back together from where she had shaken loose, if she could.

Albireo crumpled, gasping for breath long after the general was gone. She wrapped her arms tightly around herself, still whimpering.
She felt so...violated...Like...something had been scarred, touched...that was never, EVER meant to...
Finally, after another ten minutes or so, the senshi stood up. She wiped away the last of her tears, then sighed. Never again. She would never, ever let anyone intimidate her again like that. No matter what. She...was stronger than that. And she would prove it to those damn negaverse bitches.
Abireo nodded to herself, then ran part of the way home, dehenshining when she got halfway there, before crawling into bed, hugging her pillow for the rest of the night.
