Uriah had decided that they were going to join the pride. He had no problem with that. He knew they were both descended from firekin blood, they both belonged here in a way. Belonged here more than any where else. Still the reason for them finally joining the group, water, the lands were suffering from a lack of water, a drought and they knew where water was, or at least where a little water was. They both knew that the water source could not last forever and it would certainly not bring the pride back from the drought it was suffering from.
He knew it was a secret where they got their water from. The question was, now that they were here, now they were no longer outsiders, would they reveal their water source? It was a question the big male had to ask his female companion.
They had taken up together, stuck together through a lot and joining the pride wasn't going to break them apart. He wasn't the thinker of the pair, Uriah was the one who possessed the mind, still, he could question her and her motives if he wished. His main question, what was going to happen to their water?
Flickering his tail he nudges the blood red lioness lightly, he wouldn't usually disturb her but the question had hung in his mind for too long and he wanted, no, needed an answer from her. What were they going to do about the water?

Water.
They had found it, kept it a secret and in doing so, they'd also ensured their survival. However after months of indecision the lioness had finally succumbed to what her instincts had told her all along, she wished to go 'home'. She still didn't believe that she fit in as well as she could have, past circumstances ensured an element of discomfort, but there was nowhere else that drew her in quite so much as this place. Contrary to what her over sensitivity might claim on occasions, she was born and bred here, there was nowhere else that would suit.
Thus, with her decision finally made she had informed Haru of her intentions and both had returned to the pride, Haru baring a touch more confidence than she had. Nevertheless the joining had not been without its difficulties as a weight of guilt rested on her shoulders that no one other than Haru could truly appreciate - you see, Uriah held on to a secret...she possessed information that might have proved vital to the pride. In short, Uriah was aware of a water source and while the pride struggled to locate sufficient sources to sustain them, such a thing... Well, such a thing would have been invaluable.
However, rather than expose the water source and its location immediately, Uriah had struggled to come to terms with the information and the issues that might have been caused. She knew that the pride had decided to share the water they found, but in the eyes of the red furred seer, this wasn't enough. While the healthiest could survive on a reasonable level of water, there were more vulnerable individuals in the pride who might require more - with an insistance on 'equality' had this need been overlooked?
It would have been safe to say that Uriah would have provided water based on priority, but her priorities may have been considerably different to those of the main pride...
"We keep it secret for now," she replied at last, pursing her lips as she gazed at Haru. "If they found out now, they might press the same requirements on it and that isn't something I want," she continued, heaving a deep sigh. "Priority needs to be given to those who need it - the vulnerable and the elderly who are more suseptible to the heat. If anyone is entitled to access it then it should be them first," she explained.
"If there is any left after that...then the rest can have some," she finished, sincerely hoping that she had answered his question properly.

Haru gave a quiet nod. He never really said much unless it was completely necessary. If Uriah had decided that their water source was to be kept a secret, then it should be kept a secret. "We will have to be careful then." He states, in his simple, straightforwards manner. If they were to continue to use the spring they would have to be extra vigilant.
"They watch us." He says simply, his gaze lifting to look at nothing and everything. He was Uriah's protector as well as her companion and though he knew full well that she could protect herself if it came to it, he would always stand before her, that was jus the kind of lion he was.
"It may come to violence Uriah." His brow furrows in a frown at this thought, no harm had come to them, they had been welcomed to the pride in fact, they had come in with the man hunt and they had met with the regent and they had been welcomed. They were assets to the pride, they knew where water lay, fresh and clean and drinkable, but they were not being pressured to divulge the information. He wondered if they would be, he wondered if the pride would force them eventually. Perhaps but if they did would they want to stay? No where felt like home, no where felt like the shifting sands of the firekin lands. It felt like the place he was supposed to be.

She'd never been one for immediate violence, she'd understood the ramifications of such a thing when she had been young. While she was an individual who could defend herself when pushed, she would have preferred it didn't come to that. Yet Haru did make a valid point - they had been accepted with open arms because of what they knew, however no one had yet pressed them for the details. If they held out for too long or if they feigned ignorance to immediate sources, then it was unlikely that it would sit well with a pride who were in such need.
"I know they do," she replied simply and shook her head. Her brows furrowed and she closed her eyes briefly, pondering how best to approach the situation. If they were to keep the source secret then they were going to have to find a method of moving without being subject to suspicion. Wandering around as a pair would be regarded with suspicion, but wandering off separately without good reason might spark curiosity too - they were between a rock and a hard place...
"With that in mind we'll also have to be careful of who we wish to help - find the wrong individuals and we are in for some trouble," she stated plainly, her nose wrinkling in slight distaste of the issues that could arise. "Everyone is so fiercely loyal to the pride, I'm not sure many would appreciate my views if they found that I had gone against the majority ruling and had decided to be selective," she murmured.
"...Even if I had valid reason to," she added, trailing off into silence.

Haru smiled lightly, he was fairly sure that uriah would figure out what they would do, he also knew that eventually they would have to reveal their water source, he knew on top of that that their spring would not feed everyone in the pride and those who were, greedy, could see it gone. He knew of the voting that had teken place, those who had chosen priority would certainly want the source for themselves. Haru didn't believe that the whole pride should suffer because of a select few.
Letting out a heavy sigh the big red male nudged the wing marked lioness and smiled a caring smile. "If you tried to help the weak the strong would be upset." He had a penchant for stating the obvious but it needed to be said. "And the strong would see the weak fade away." He shakes his head.
"If we could sneak a few cubs over there.." He shakes his head, he knew that was a foolish thing to say. he wanted to see the young helped, but dragging a gaggle of short legged creatures to their spring could be treacherous. The desert was no place for the young, they could potentially be worse off for the travelling, the benefits of a drink could be outweighed by the dry journey.
"There is nothing to be done." He frowns flickering his tail irritably. He couldn't think of a solution, he knew eventually they would have to tell the pride where their water was but it would not see the end to the prides drought.

Epine de rose "The strong would have the weak fade away, but they fail to realise that in the future they will be the weak ones," she pointed out softly, her eyes casting down to gaze at her paws as she considered the problem posed to her by Haru. "For now the cubs and the elderly are vulnerable, but in the future the cubs will be responsible for the care of those who are strong now," she continued. She shook her head at this point and lifted her gaze to meet Haru's, a small smile lifting onto her lips as she mimicked his own facial expression, odd as it might have seemed, he knew what to say in certain situations even if it happened to sound more negative than he intended. No one could fault him for being honest... "To target and prioritise the existing hunters would just harm the entire pride at a later date, long term planning is more beneficial than the short term," she murmured. However, even she knew that it would be impossible and dangerous to transport cubs across a wide distance. While they could move themselves back and forward without too much suspicion, moving cubs that were not their own would cause absolute havoc...especially given Uriah's heritage! "No, I suppose there isn't," she conceded at last and heaved a sigh. "I guess the only thing we can do for now is keep it to ourselves and hope that the waterseekers find a sustainable source," she murmured softly. "If things get truly desperate then we may have no other choice other than to allow it to be sucked dry..."

"We wait then." Haru states, nodding his head. He was glad they had come to a decision though really he knew it was Uriah's decision she was the leader. He was happy to be her follower. He was happy to follow her lead. She always knew what to do and that was the important thing in his mind.
Draping his chin over her back he smiles a sideways grin at her his coal coloured eyes laughing a little. "You always know what to do."He whispers closing tose eyes for a moment. He still wondered about the time when they would HAVE to tell about their water but that time was not now and if it was to be forced from them he would protect their secret until Uriah decided otherwise.
He lets out a slow sigh and looking sideways at the wing marked lioness he chuckles. "I just realised, I am your b***h." He chuckles playfully nudging the female, a sparkle in his dark eyed gaze. He didn't mind, he would follow Uriah to the ends of the earth if it came to it. He was loyal to her.

Epine de Rose Suffice to say that Uriah was not looking forward to the time when they would have to confess to their little secret. She knew that some would appreciate the need for secrecy, but there would be others who would accuse them of deliberate betrayal and a lack of consideration. Uriah had already been subject to hostility before and the thought that it would happen again really didn't inspire much confidence in her - she wasn't looking forward to that moment at all. It wasn't that she was a coward, she could protect herself when required, she just didn't appreciate the unnecessary drama that would come as a direct result of her actions. Regardless, she knew she had made the right decision and she would have to stand firm in that, if she wasn't firm in her convictions then no one would be and that would make her a much easier target at a later date. Alas, with the topic of the water source cast to one side, she was provided with a rare opportunity to lift a brow at Haru's remark. Her b***h...? It made her sound positively Amazonian! She knew that he was joking, but the thought that she was the dominant individual in any relationship was a little laughable. She wasn't dominant to save her life! If anything the lioness was more submissive than the majority of the Firekin, not because she was weak, but because she preferred to be introspective. Nevertheless she did hazard a smile at his joke and shook her head, a small chuckle creeping up through her throat. "My b***h?" she enquired softly and tilted her head to one side. "Last time I checked you weren't on a leash, but I'm sure I could seek one out, eh?"

Haru chuckled quietly, his eyes closed as he rested with his chin over her back. "A leash? That would be a novel idea." He shakes his head and opens his eyes for a moment to rest them upon her face. His dark eyes smiled.
"You know I would follow you to the end of the earth and back Uriah, there is no question about that." He yawns a wide toothy yawn closing his eyes again. "You really don't need a leash to take me to places. You need only ask." He lifts one paw and drapes it over her side, a little possessively perhaps, pulling her closer in to his body.
"Rest now, we can worry about things later and I'll still be your humble servant when you wake up." He chuckles, he did love Uriah she was in a way his reason for living his reason for coming to the firekin, his reason for coming to his place where his roots, his ancestry had started. She was all the leash he needed.

Epine de Rose "I think it would look good on you," Uriah replied, an impish glint in her eyes at the prospect of constructing something like that. Admittedly she would never expect him to put it on, but the overall imagery in her mind was interesting to be sure. Nevertheless, while Uriah was more awake than Haru, it appeared that the male had reached his limit and desired one thing - sleep. Rather than argue with him, she simply allowed him to pull her into his embrace and released a small sigh of her own...she could rest, even if she didn't necessarily feel that she needed it. "But following me to the ends of the earth could be dangerous, it's not as if you asked to be embroiled in any of my issues," she pointed out and settled herself into a comfortable position. "It may reach a point where the pride are deeply unhappy and you'll get caught in the middle...which wouldn't be appropriate," she mused. Lowering her head, she rested her chin on her paws and closed her eyes. "So if the day comes when you want to escape that level of responsibility, then I'll completely understand." she concluded.
